Anyone else's headphone jack wobbly? When I have my headphone plugged in, I notice that the jack will wiggle side to side.
Yeah mine is wobbly too and people in reddit have reported this too. I'm fine with it.

Cool. I just realized this last night and today just happens to be my last day to "return" it in the 14 day window. It's one of those deals where everything else with my copy of the phone works really well that I don't want to trade it in for another that may not be over something that might be normal.

If your phone is working fine and no other problems don't return it. You might get something worse. Mine is wobbly but performs perfectly!

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to gauge.
I exchanged mine because of how wobbly it was.
My new one is still wobbly but a bit better than the previous one.
Mine has a good amount of play as well. Looks to be "normal" but doesn't impact sound quality or the connection. It might just be the way the jack sits inside the chassis hole. I tested several devices and noticed they were all wobbly for what it's worth. I'm gonna try to not think about it!
If it's the receptacle portion on the motherboard in the phone that is wobbly, it will eventually break the solder connection to the board. Wonder if there is a way to get a bit of epoxy down along side of it to lock it in place.
If its is just the plug to receptacle fit, that is a different story.
The plug to receptacle fit seems to be snug. It's the receptacle sitting inside the phone that seems to wobble from what I can tell.

hello everyone
Today I noticed my x10 creaks when using the bottom three buttons and sometimes the touchscreen. I bought the phone brand new from carrier 2 days ago, does anyone else experience this? its nothing TOO serious, just quite annoying for someone with OCD like myself. What should I do?

It is a plastic-ey phone, with many components, so there will be some creaking.. Don't think you can do anything about it, sorry

does yours do the same?
My buttons don't make any noise. If you even hear the noise when pressing on the screen, maybe the back cover isn't fitted correctly?

Thats what I mean, its' not the buttons that make noise, but the back cover I believe.. when pressure is applied. I checked to make sure it is fitted correctly and it is. Also I believe there is a slight creaking on the front panel as well. Is this normal?
Yup, mine makes a noise too, but its not noticeable unless you're listening for it

No that's not normal. If it's only the back cover, maybe it's bend because you applied too much pressure when pulling it off. But if the front also creaks then there's something wrong. mine doesn't make creaking noises at all.
hmm. thanks to both of you for your responses. I don't know, I am getting 2 different answers. I wish I had another X10 to compare

I have 2 X10s, they both make the same noise
Its not such a big problem really... you get used to it after a while
Or maybe its just a problem with Canadian X10s
Mine creaks too now, but that's after about 5 months of heavy to semi heavy use.

I kno what you mean, but I had iphone before and the thing was as solid as a rock. With the X10, I apply pressure I can feel some 'give' as if i am pressing the panels together, which creates the slight creaking noise. I dont even know if I could describe it as creaking, its very minor but still noticeable
When I had the black x10a it creak for me when I pressed the back button. After a few days I bought the x10I to have 3g on tmobile and it doesn't creak. Maybe its the x10a only?
I love xda app on my Xperia X10i phone =D

Hey, yeh mine creaks too, its more so the side pressure of the hand squeezing the sides when in yur palm, than the force down of the buttons. Im not very satisfied with the elcheapo effect of the back cover, lol. I too was an iphone user, solid rock, but i love my x10a!
Thanks to everyone, I guess it's semi-normal, I wish it wouldnt make any noises because it makes it feel cheap
Creeking here aswell and it is actually the battery making the noice since its probably has got a tiny bit deformed in 8 months of pocket riding it is able to move somewhat in it's compartment. Everything else is solid.
And i have to really stress it to make it creek, nothing really bothering.

^Thats a good point. Last night I was sitting on the couch and couldn't remember where I put my x10 down. I stood up and realized I was sitting on it. Not a big deal considering its a pretty cushy couch but I probably squished the battery together a bit.
I think only white ones make noise my black x10i is very solid

I know 4 people who also have the xperia x10, never heard them complaining about creaking. Never heard it either. We all have the black x10i.
Somebody here said something about a deformed battery, that could be true indeed. Lithium polymer battery's have no plastic case, they can be bend or deformed. It could be the reason your x10 makes creaking noises.
You could buy another back cover from ebay, they're not expensive.
I bought my xoom on launch day and love it but on the left side next to the volume buttons i get a creak sound and a loose feeling like the back cover is loose its right under the volume down button
i looked it up on google and saw someone else have the same problem but im not sure if i get another if its gonna feel the same way
Mine is solid as a rock. I would take it back.

I didn't notice having a problem with this either but I'll be double checking it tonight..=)
No such thing with mine.
its right where the back cover and edge of screen meet on the side with volume buttons
i bought it from best buy and there out of stock so i need to wait. luckily i have a 45 day return policy on it
nothing wrong with mine. Very solid
Swap it out. I just checked mine and it is clean and tight.

No such issue here. Go check a demo unit to compare. I think you need to return it.
Plastic on top bends and creeks on mine...

Saw this in a search, same problem here. Is this really not a common issue? It's terrible when you pick up your $800 tablet and it makes an awful noise like it's going to break.
Just got mine out my bag to check but it's solid.
Noticed a gap in mine today before seeing this thread. What bothers me most is the creak/crack if I press a particular part of the screen. (Jump button in Cordy) .

The creak is absolutely annoying.
I think i may just buy a transformer and take the xoom back and save $400.
Sigh.
i have also noticed mine has started doing this...
I know mine has made this noise before but it comes and goes. Its a bit annoying but doesn't seem to be consistently happening.

If you find the area, you won't be able to ignore it.
Try this: Go to the metal part on the left side where it starts below the volume/plastic, put your thumb on the edge and "pry" that area away from the glass (towards the back) report back with noise.

Nice, my power button only works 1/3 of the time at the most, so it's likely getting exchanged anyway, maybe returned.
Same here creak/crack from left side,
My fingerprint/power button is slightly slanted. I was wondering if this is just me or not. The button is lifted slightly from one end.

There's a data ribbon on one side that holds it crooked like that. this has already been brought up and pretty much all of them are like that (as far as I know) so I wouldn't be concerned about it.

Crooked here as well. The first atrix I had seemed to be straight though. Kind of annoying. Also one side of the screen is slightly lower than the other.

Same for me. I had to return my first atrix because of battery issues and it had a straight one but the one I have now is tilted. I don't really stare at it so no big deal to me. At least my battery is performing now.

To add to the build quality issues, I went through 3 units at the store an all had some degree of dust under the screen. I took the one with the least. I took a look at my cousin's unit the other day and it also had a couple of specs under the screen.

Define performing. Mine is still garbage compared to what it should be. That's the same reason I returned the first one.

okay at least im not the only one. a friend of mine thought it was a protective piece of plastic that needed to be peeled off at first. it looked too thick to be something like that so i tested it first to see if it would read my finger which it did so i left it on..
odd that motorola would place it like that
it is an inset reader attached to the board with a ribbon cable, as part of a button. Some sit slightly different than others, it is common on everything that has this type of multifunction setup.

id say its less a build quality issue and more a design issue, since the glass isnt glued to the screen. I have myself seen 3-4 atrix, all except one had either major dust or at least 1-2 specks.
and on top a software bug that scared the hell out of me, seeing dead and stuck pixels only in the CAMCORDER mode.
I should consider myself lucky then, no dust and my fingerprint/power button is straight. However, it is a refurbished phone (perhaps one that was returned by one of you!) so they might have taken a bit more care in reassembly. Who knows... Maybe it is best to buy second hand sometimes, or I'm just plain lucky

I have had four refurb atrixs and each one has had a straight fingerprint scanner. All of them at the stores I have seen are slanted. Seems the refurbs are a little nicer in that aspect

Same here ... a little slanted, but then again I hadn't really spent much time looking at the button before!
i never liked the button!!
Does anyone else have a hard time plugging in their phone? With my gnex I could easily plug in my phone and be done. However, with my g2, I have to sit their for a little bit and wiggle it around just to plug it into the phone. I was gonna stop by Verizon after work and look at their floor model but wanted yalls opinion before I did that and looked at getting a new one.

It is tighter than my GNex but mine is not too tight. I like it tight. :highfive:
Yes, it's definitely more difficult than any other phone I've had.
It might just be good
It may be more stable if it's tighter and will be less prone to accidental disconnection? It might degrade faster though.
It is def tighter and goes "deeper" and kinda clicks and locks in. its also not straight in, kinda have to angle it down a little. Cant compare it to the GNex bc that was a crappy usb connection that would fall out easily. This is MUCH better
I think its the Charger that comes with the phone!
Its tight on my G Pro as well. But when I use say a samsung charger its extreamly loose on this phone.

I do know using any other cable even with the stock wall plug it charges slower.
It was very tight when I first plugged it in, I thought I had it upside down but either way was difficult. A few days later it's getting easier, so just give it some time and it will be fine.
Having the same issue here. Brought the phone home Saturday evening and thought I was going to break it. Went back to the store yesterday and they tried one in the back that was the same. As everyone else is saying, hopefully it gets a little easier over time. Hate the feeling that it's going to break jamming it in right now.

Good to hear I am not the only one that feels this way, lol.
I will give it a few more days and go from there.
So, I received my MXP yesterday... In all the joy of playing with the software and updating it, I didn't notice this until this morning? The top speaker grill is sticking up on the right side? It's not loose, but still sticking up. Anyone else have this issues or other QC issues?
I felt funny requesting a replacement for something this minor, but Amazon is sending me one .....But it's gonna take 2 weeks to get it I just don't think my OCD can handle this, so glad it's getting replaced.
Sorry for the blurry pic, I only have a cheap pre-paid phone to take the pic with.
Ooh, yeah I couldn't deal with that either. Seem so Ike's or might be the first to post something like this, so hopefully it's not very common. Glad you're getting a replacement though!
On the Nexus 6 and the 2nd gen Moto X, those grills were removable since they were one of the parts that could be customized in Moto Maker. It may have just popped loose. You should be able to snap it back in. Might take a bit of force, but it should go back in.
Both mine are sticking out they don't seem evenly meaning top vs bottom, I wouldn't worry to much they will prob get pushed in just from being in ur pocket or what ever as long sound still works its all good

Well crap!
I tried snapping it back in (didn't push hard at all) and I heard it snap, took my finger off it and the part fell on the floor. I sat it back in there, but it's really loose now and probably will fall out if I bump it or hit it on my pocket when pulling it out.

Also good to hear that Moto seems to be OK with replacing stuff like this. Hope mine comes in looking straight, I can't stand build quality issues like that.
In the mean time, I put a REALLY SMALL drop of super glue on it to hold it in so I don't lose it/doesn't fall out....It's still lop-sided though. Hope this doesn't mess up my return when they get it back!?!?!
