button press function, OK google detection, fingerprint sensor usage - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answer

I've got a few annoyances/questions
Button Press function: I'd like it if i single tap the app-switcher button, if it would just switch to the previously used app. long press to make it display a list of recent apps. Bonus points if i can control what apps show up in recently used. Alternatively, having recently used apps be a fixed entity so that it always shows the same apps to toggle between.
ok google from screen off: right now it works due to nova launcher. it doesnt work from other apps, and it doesnt work with screen off. only really works on home screen. sometimes it works from screen off. sometimes it doesnt. I have no lock screen, phone just turns on directly to home screen. it doesnt work within various apps.
using fingerprint scanner to insert a password into a text field. this fingerprint scanner isnt used on anything. I'd like that if I swipe a finger that it will insert the correct password for the app.
How do I tell if apt-X is working? Phone is apt-x enabled, car head unit has apt-x enabled, but Im not seeing any indicator on either device that shows apt-x codec is being used rather than regular bluetooth.
smaller notification pulldown: right now the buttons are so gargantuan and i have 3-4 items always running in notifications that im constantly having to scroll around. Audiobook player, work email, navigation, quick connect, and the quick settings toggles take up a LOT of screen real estate.

[Q] Disable lock screen widget

Is there a way to disable lock screen widgets without closing the playing audio.
I listen audio through my bluetooth and keep my phone in my pocket. Currently leaving anything playing keeps a widget on the top of the lock screen. All to frequently I find that I have skipped the song I wanted to hear or have jumped forward 25 minutes in my book. I found a setting in Podcast Addict and that app no longer does it.
I am rooted and using the stock rom. Would screen shots help?
I went ahead and contacted Samsung, the say it cannot be done.
Explain to me in more detail what you mean because I stream music and books, etc.. from my phone all day long and have no issues with it.
As an example, I use NPR One I launch the app, start streaming audio then press the power button to lock and power off the screen. If the power button gets pressed again the lock screen has audio controls. In this case it would only be play/pause and skip. I don't want those controls on the lock screen.

[Q] Wake by button only

I have the LG G Watch R... What I have going on is i constantly turn my watch on by accident. Either i cross my arms or my leg touches the screen and turns it on.. I've even played a game without knowing i was. I've tried the hacks/ advanced settings app but those only 1/2 way turn it off. (you can still swipe).
Is there anyway to completely disable the touch screen and only be able to wake it up with the physical button??
Try double click button to put watch in theatre mode. Otherwise use settings or pull down menu.
I want the screen on i just want the touch screen to be completely disabled..
I want it to still show time but have no response to touch until after the button is clicked.
Did you check market for any third party app?

Car Mode prevents Recents key, enlarges other soft keys

All,
Any thoughts on preventing car mode from resizing the screen to accommodate the enlarged soft keys and re-enable the Recents button again? I need car mode to keep the screen on while driving, but not being able to quickly transition from Maps to Google Play Music with a double tap of the Recents button, as well as the reduced screen size, is beyond annoying. Saying "don't use car mode" without a solution to keep the screen on while driving (read: not just "while charging" like the developer option allows) isn't a valid solution.
I've attached a screenshot of the issue. Thanks in advance!

Have you tried Android Auto. Google just updated it so you can run it stand alone on a phone. It would give you a simplified car friendly screen with quick access to music and maps.

I like the concept, I just don't like being limited to only accessing those select apps, I use lots of other things to search for addresses I travel to for work, driving 50K miles per year, so I'm in the car working (yes, stopped when accessing emails) and I hate having to disable car mode every time I need to multitask
Good suggestion, I am interested in the direction of Android Auto, just not for my main device at this time

Now car mode prevents me from seeing that a call is currently active, nothing on the notification bar, nothing on the second screen, can't hang up unless I use the controls on the car steering wheel. Need to find another solution using Tasker or otherwise. Screen on while charging in developer's options dims the screen beyond usefulness.

you're having strange issues, are you connecting to a head unit or using the phone alone? Im not having any problems, but i dont need to switch between apps. Also now that Android Auto works over Bluetooth its i can choose between wired connection(which doesn't let me change apps) or wireless is i want to use an app while stopped. As for the call issue sounds like something is triggering the proximity sensor, i had the same issue when i had a screen protector for a different device on at the beginning?

I just ordered the V20 today and intend on using it in Landscape mode while driving and using Google Maps or Waze. My previous phone Note 4, the screen would always stay on as long as i had Google Maps running. I never used the car mode feature and always had it plugged in while driving. Do you really need to use Car mode? Couldnt you just keep Google Maps active and access other apps as needed?

That would be fine for the times I'm ONLY using Maps, but not Music or anything else that keeps screen on while in foreground. If I switch to anything other than Maps, I have to switch back before the screen times out - and considering the power button is almost impossible to get to when mounted, that isn't a viable solution for me, unfortunately.

Yeah, this was the first thing I noticed\hated with either the V20 or 7.0, I hate that the nav buttons increase in car\dock mode. I use CarHome Ultra as my docking app and the only way I have found around it is to Auto hide the Navbar when I'm running CarHome Ultra and my Navigation GPS app. I auto-hide just those two apps from within the "Home Touch Button" tab in the Display settings. I can add shortcuts within CarHome Ultra to the apps I my use while driving: Etc...Nav, Messenger, phone app.
Hope this helps some.
That actually did help me! Thanks. I also use Car Home Ultra, which I love, but I had switched from 8 buttons to 6 because they were too squashed due to the nav buttons at the bottom.

Does anyone know how to enter split screen mode w/o enabling the navigation bar?

I like being to disable the nav bar, because for the most part all of its functions are duplicated by the fingerprint reader. Except for split screen, as far as I can tell. Does anyone know how to enter split screen mode w/o enabling the navigation bar?
Edit: found the answer: two finger swipe from bottom of screen.

I have a problem with that tablet fingerprint sensor, it works when it wants and after a while the tablet stops working. Even the menu settings disappears, fingerprint ID is gone
when I restart the effect is zero only when I reset the factors it works but after a while the fingerprint sensor refuses to work again. Does

Some parts of the system lost their functions

Hello,
There is this weird problem that came out of nowhere. I usually sleep listening to music and sometimes I weak up with the phone battery completely drained so I have to charge it. Today after charging the phone some parts of the system lost their functions. These are the problems I discovered so far;
-The home(LeEco) and the multitask buttons are not doing their main functions even though the phone registers the touch inputs from the buttons and they light up. The home button can even lock the phone on long press but won't take me to the home screen.
-I have the swipe shortcuts button enabled but it won't take me to home screen or multitask screen. The "go back" option, however, is still working along with the back button. I can go to the home screen by swiping or exiting apps with "go back" button.
-I can't download apps from google play store even on wifi with auto-update enabled. it's stuck on download pending.
-I can't open the notifications management from notifications.
-Connecting the phone to my PC does not show connection options.
-Screenshot doesn't appear in the notifications. The notification area remains empty.
So far these are the ones I discovered. Do you have any idea what causes that and how to fix it? I didn't do a factory reset yet as I can't transfer the data to my PC. Eui 5.9.026S I haven't had any of these problems up until this morning.
Thanks in advance.
Backed up data using an app and factory reset solved the problem.
The actual problem seemed to be:
1-The multitask screen virtually opens but it appears behind the background aka it doesn't actually appear. I think because whatever app that is responsible for it does not have the draw over other apps permission(?).
2-The notifications are there but does not appear in the notifications bar menu. I made sure by using the a notification history app. So it might be notification access permission problem(?).
