Is there a way to disable lock screen widgets without closing the playing audio.
I listen audio through my bluetooth and keep my phone in my pocket. Currently leaving anything playing keeps a widget on the top of the lock screen. All to frequently I find that I have skipped the song I wanted to hear or have jumped forward 25 minutes in my book. I found a setting in Podcast Addict and that app no longer does it.
I am rooted and using the stock rom. Would screen shots help?
I went ahead and contacted Samsung, the say it cannot be done.
Explain to me in more detail what you mean because I stream music and books, etc.. from my phone all day long and have no issues with it.
As an example, I use NPR One I launch the app, start streaming audio then press the power button to lock and power off the screen. If the power button gets pressed again the lock screen has audio controls. In this case it would only be play/pause and skip. I don't want those controls on the lock screen.

hi ;..
i'am looking for a very small MP3player that can play music if screen of my PDA is off ...
htc audio manager, not sure which version but one of the newer ones
Windows Media Player can.
i have MortPlayer set to shut the screen off after 10 seconds (time is adjustable), and while off, all buttons except the action button (in the middle of the d-pad) are disabled. the action button turns the screen back on and all buttons go back to working as normal. i do this so i can throw the phone in my pocket and not worry about buttons (screen or hardware) getting hit, but i can also feel the action (which becomes the pause/play button when the phone wakes) without having to take the phone out of my pocket.
I'm running into a usability issue with PocketShield on the Touch HD.
I use Pocket Player for audio book listening quite a bit. Pocket Player has an option to turn off the display after 60 seconds to conserve battery power, while still playing the audio. After I installed PocketShield, it was initially turning off my device every time Pocket Player turned off the screen. (So the audio was stopping too.) I then added Pocket Player to the "application permissions" in PocketShield, so that the device is not locked while Pocket Player is loaded. That prevented the turn-off problem.
But, now, PocketShield is effectively preventing Pocket Player from turning off the screen. Any time Pocket Player times out after 60 seconds and turns off the screen, the screen goes off for only a split second, only to come right back on again. (I know that this is like a power cycle for the device, because if I leave a menu in Pocket Player open--like I sometimes do with the seek menu, to be able to rewind quickly, if I have to, while listening--the menu is closed when the screen comes on again.) Of course, this now means that, as long as PocketShield is on, the screen is always on while using Pocket Player, which multiplies battery usage by a factor of five or more, naturally.
The only workaround that I can think of is to turn PocketShield off (or "disable" it) any time I'll use Pocket Player, and turn it back on after I'm done. This is hardly convenient, and it leaves the door open for forgetting to turn PocketShield back on and ending up with pocket dialing again and all sorts of unintended button use while in my pocket, which completely defeats the purpose of using PocketShield. I look through the settings in PocketShield and I can't see any that would hold any hope in helping me with this problem.,
Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know of a workaround? I doubt that Pocket Player would be the only media player with which this would happen.
For anyone interested in the details, my current PocketShield settings are as follows:
LOCKING OPTIONS:
Power off when lock: Disabled
If wakes up, power off in 20 secs: Disabled
Disable hardware keys: Enabled
When phone starts ringing: Keep keys disabled
Do not lock on external power: Enabled
UNLOCKING OPTIONS:
With light: Enabled
With finger slide: Enabled
With movement gestures: Disabled
Round center button: Disabled
On stylus out: Enabled
Produce vibration feedback: Disabled
Application permissions: Pocket Player
Hello,
Its something on how PocketPlayer internally performs the screen off operation, I think it’s a very particular (maybe not standard?) way to do it.
Some other applications that also perform “screen off” do not cause this effect on PocketShield, they all work “in peace” (you can confirm this by using for example HTorch or xdaShutdown or even the native “screen off” during call the HTC Phone has.
The only workaround I can suggest is to disable the “60 secs” timer on PocketPlayer and rely on the “20 secs power off” of PocketShield together with the Application Permissions you already have set. This way, if your device turns on by any event, PS will do screen off after 20 seconds if no unlock is done. And if you want to manually screen off just press the power button. None of the mentioned will stop the player.

Hey guys, I can swear that when I first had my TMOUS HD2, I could play music on the sense music player, and could then press the end button to turn the screen off without the music stopping. For whatever reason now, whenever I press end to turn the screen off, however, the music also stops. I can't figure out if I changed a setting anywhere or not, but any ideas? Fyi, I installed TCPMP player and messed with a few of the "play music/video" in the background settings, but I don't think that's what's doing it.
I am not sure about sense player but most of the music players I tried have the turn screen off option. The only player which plays even if the screen is locked from outside the player is the "Pocket Player" (conduits.com). You can change that behavior though.
also if you hit the screen off button (one on the right/hang up button) then hit it again so the lock screen comes up this has made a difference for me... (allows the non windows media player player to keep playing)...
A solution to that will be welcomed. I want my LastFM client to keep on playing after the screen goes off. Currently it starts to stutter and then shuts up.
On the HTC HD, I used the "nueDynamicClock" application, which could maintain (for chosen applications) higher CPU clock while the HD went into suspend. This app does not work on HD2.
Please advice
Thanks
My sense player keeps playing as i hit the hang up button and screen turning off... Don't know if this helps, but here are my versions:
OS: 5.2.21869.5.0.82
Manila: 2.5.19211619.0
ROM: 1.66.409.1 (76641) NOR (Norwegian official updated ROM)
Radio: 2.06.51.07
Anyways, the sense player isn't what i want it to be, it is far too limited, so i use CorePlayer. CorePlayer also plays with the screen off, no problems.
Have you tried using S2U beta (from the people who made S2U2)?
I was having the exact issue, but S2U is a god send. You can control the skip, play/pause and volume buttons with the screen locked.
It's very good, especially if combined with S2U2 for text, email, mms and calendar previews while the phone is locked. Well worth checking out.
There are threads on xda-developers about both.
The funny thing is, I'm on a stock TMOUS rom, and I definitely recall that at least in the beginning, I was able to have the sense music player keep playing with the screen turned off. Thus, there must be a way to get this back again. Any more ideas?

Update: For no apparent reason at all, it seems that my phone has reverted back to "normal" and now allows me to play music in the background with the screen turned off. Did absolutely nothing.
Have you tried the start button and then lock.
I use this when listerning to audio books viaTCPMP

Yup, I can lock the phone just fine without the music turning off, but it's as soon as I then press end to turn the display off (even after locking the phone) that my music suddenly stops playing. And as an update to my previous update, my phone has decided to revert back to pausing as soon as I turn the screen off! Just when I thought all was well...
Once you have locked your phone there is no need to to ress the end key. Your screen will switch off depending on your timeout settings.
Hi,
If I don't have my mp3 player with me, there is still some music on my phone. The annoying thing is, it turns off always when I turn off the screen of the device. I am using the original htc player. I don't want to have the screen on, because the phone is in my pocket and it opens all possible stuff while I am moving. Is there a solution to that, or do I need a different player?
download slide 2 play. it is free and does everything you want it to do.
This happens because when you hit the power button you are suspending the device. What you want to do (to keep the music playing) is just turn the screen off without actually suspending the device. Find a program to toggle the screen.

Hello everyone
I'm having this weird issue with my Nexus 6P (which is afaik on the latest software version) that I did not have with my LG G4 when I had it.
Basically, when I play music from any app (Spotify, Soundcloud, Poweramp, etc), I can't control the music when the screen is shut off and the phone is unlocked.
Let me clarify: I set my phone to not lock automatically when I turn off the screen. I like it that way; there's a 1 min waiting period until it actually locks.
Unfortunately, in that 1-minute waiting period I cannot:
- Adjust the volume using the hardware volume rocker
- Cannot adjust the volume using any sort of headphone control
- Cannot pause or start the music
Until the 1 minute period is over and the device actually locks, or I just turn on the screen and unlock the device.
But this has been very inconvenient, so I want to know what I can do!
Thank you all.
I have the same issue here. It also effect (probably unsurprisingly) control over BT from car radio.
I dont seem to remember this always being the case, only since the last security update I think.
Same issue here... been that way for a week or so now, quite annoying. Restarting the phone doesn't fix it.

I'm getting this too. Anyone find a fix?
Hello, I have the same situation, basically my workaround was to enable the fingerprints setup and have the phone immediately lock with screen off. Then instead of pressing power I trained myself to unlock using either indexes. It is quite fast.
The volume buttons will work off screen only while the phone is truly locked so no smart lock with Bluetooth either; screen off but unlocked doesn't work. I also have problems while driving and using Maps off screen, probably for the same reason.
I filed a bug report with Google, there are a bunch of people with the same problem but this isn't fixed in the monthly updates. I haven't tried the android N preview Good luck!
