Hi guys,
Need help. My i9500 display is dead, I was able to backup my data with samsung Smart switch. Only Smart switch detects the phone Kies doesn't. Trying to use ADB but totally unlucky. Device not at all showing up in the devices. I have USB debugging enabled and have Android SDK installed. Planning to reuse it as a webcam. Any help would be much appreciated.

Then I would try a different USB cable and/or USB port.
Maybe a different Windows version too.
Tried the first two was even thinking about trying it on a different machine. Will check. Thanks

Hey guys! So I just got a nexus 4 today and I went to use wugfresh nexus root toolkit, did it successfully (unlocked boot loader, rooted it), as soon as I took it out of the box. I got a system update right after I did all that, so I updated it. Now I lost root, and when I go to root it again, I can't seem to get the adb thing to work, it says its offline due to some security thing on 4.2.2, and I tried everything it said to get debugging to work, and nothing works! I unchecked and checked it again, plugged in a different USB port, restarted phone and computer countless times, and even tried it on a galaxy nexus to see if the box comes up with the computer fingerprint thing, and it didn't work on that either :/ is this a computer issue? How can I fix it? Any help would be great, thanks!
Try changing storage from MTP to PTP and checking unchecking debugging as new drivers may need to install.

Not using a tool kit for starters. Look at the sticky in q&a about rooting.

I'll check it out, thanks. But weird thing is, I rooted a nexus 7 on 4.2.2 with no problem using the same tool kit, and the box with the computer fingerprint showed up after clicking on android debugging enabled, so idk why it isn't working with the gnex and n4 :/
i tried what you said, it doesnt work. in command prompt i get error: device offline.
what do i do now? :/

I'm currently running a 4.2.2 ROM both on my Razr M and Incredible. Whenever I run adb devices, it will not list anything. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.
USB is broken on 4.2 for now. Try restarting while plugged in, it may recognize it then. Make sure USB debugging is on too

Thanks for your suggestion but that is what I have been doing for most of the day before I turned to this particular forum to ask. And so far any suggestions I've found have not yielded anything positive for me. Drivers are up to date and I have version 1.0.31 of adb. Debugging has been turned on. Are you on a 4.2.2 ROM on your phone? Are you able to plug in your device to a PC and run adb devices and have your particular phone show up?

No problem. I think that's an issue with the USB drivers on the phone... Not really sure why it works when you restart but it's a minor annoyance.

I have just gotten this phone and I love it ...perfect performance and size. However I have a little issue with windows 7 64 bit and using the bp tool feature on the phone to do some changes like update manual the 3G prl file.
I tried every freaking driver known to man and none of them resolves this driver issue. again I'm windows 7 64 bit..I have download the latest and still with no luck
can someone please help me find what I need before I lose my mind...

I got them from the motorola Website and also installed what the auto start up when you connect it to the computer and neither will work.
I got mine from moto as well... Using 64x win 7 pro... Maybe do the basic trouble shooting... Reboot PC ... Alternate cable and port... Uninstall drivers... Reinstall drivers... Use a port on the back of the PC rather then the front... No hub... No extension... Stuff of that nature

I tried it again with no luck...removed all drivers from the pc...rebooted ...installed again with the latest drivers rebooted again plugged in with a brand new usb cable that came with this new phone, plugged directly back into usb 2.0 ports and still not a darn driver was installed. I wonder if motorola changed something on the Razr M as this is a brand new phone from verizon. I'm running windows Factory Windows 7 64 bit. I even tried this same thing on another computer running the same and got the same results. I tried various drivers from various websites for flashing and rooting and none of those helped either ...this has me stumbed. Issue with the phone maybe
Have your phone setup for USB debugging in settings?
I also think there's a toggle somewhere to use phone for USB or media storage.
I have Win 7 64bit at home and sometimes its finicky.
Also on your PC through System Settings I think uninstall all if your USB ports and reboot. Let your computer reinstall the USB drivers and then make sure you plug into a USB 2.0 port, not 3.0.
Not sure what brand you're using, but I know Dell can be a pita with USB drivers.

Hello, well, i'm having a little problem here, the thing is, my Nexus 4 is not recongnize at all by the computer, any computer, i already tried another computer, another usb cable, clearing cache, reset the device, usb debugging on and off, MTP and PTP and nothing, i'm using Archlinux and i think that the problem is not the computer because the Nexus 7 (2012) is recognize just fine, i believe that the problem started with Towelroot because before that everything was ok, i can't even update the OTA for the 4.4.4 because it sends an "error" when updating. Another thing, the phone charges so that is interesting.
I'm dying here
Any solution or comment please.
Thanks.

Hello, first, thanks for answering.
Well, i'm always been stock, never tried another ROM.
I'm scared about the idea of the USB port problem, but if it's the port, why charges normal in USB? Pretty interesting.
It's working now, had to remove and install again SDK tools from the computer and reset the phone but it's solved.
Thanks a lot  :good:

Hey guys. I had an essential phone for a few months and I thought it was working fine. Howevor, I recently found out that something is wrong with the type c port; they dont work with type c earphones. Im trying to root my phone but I cant even get the bootloader unlocked. I have tried many diffrent things but I cannot get my pc to recognize my phone.
Is there a way to unlock bootloader without a pc?

Hope you got it solved.
I had the same problem.
For me it was:
1. Cable (bought phone used. No oem available.)
2. Used my USB 2.0 port
3. And VirtualBox running win10. Normally my Linux works best. But in this case, I have to use windows
"Some users have reported issues when flashing or sideloading using a USB 2.0 cable. The cable included with PH-1 is USB 2.0 and is primarily intended for charging. If you're flashing or sideloading PH-1, we recommend using a high-quality, spec-compliant USB 3.0 (or higher) cable." - Straight from Essential's website, Developers section. I have done all my tinkering with a 3.0 cable so far.\
I would try using a different computer and cable to see if you can communicate with the device.
