Port Verizon pixel wifi calling to nexus 6p - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am not a developer, but I am making a request. I have a nexus 6p and live in an area that has little service. Seeing how the pixel and nexus 6p devices are very similar, I was wondering if it's possible to port the function to the nexus 6p. Verizon stated wifi calling will work on all pixel devices and not just the one sold by them. So I was wondering if there is a kind soul out there that would be willing to give it a try?
Thanks in advance.

possibly the end of nexus geting updates directly from google

Its Verizon, what did you expect? Look at the Verizon version of the iPhone, it always got its updates long after the AT&T version here. This was likely a requirement to get the phone on that network.
The HSPA+ version should be fine. Not to mention, why is this in the Atrix forum?
Because all android users should see whats happening to the nexus

Fair enough, but this is much more a Verizon issue than a Nexus issue. Anyone who has had any experience with that carrier knows that they are the most locked down of all four here in the US. It sucks that their Nexus is a bit watered down, but until proven otherwise we can assume that the HSPA+ version being sold in other parts of the world and hopefully will soon show up on T-Mobile/AT&T keeps the spirit Nexus devices are supposed to embody.
Besides, while a slippery slope, its only two apps. It could be worse. MUCH worse.

Should I upgrade from Nexus 5 to Note 4?

I currently use a Nexus 5 and 2nd gen Nexus 7 (wi-fi only). I love both devices especially the Nexus 5 which I use quite often in Canada (home base), US (on T-Mobile), Europe and Australia. I'm thinking seriously about moving to the Note 4 with the thought I might be able to consolidate on one device. I really like vanilla Android and being able to get the latest stable OS ASAP. I used to have both my Nexus 5 and 7 rooted but don't anymore as corporate apps required I unroot and I've learned to live without root and xposed and all that good stuff.
My greatest concern about moving to something like the Note 4 is losing the very extensive 3G and LTE band support that the Nexus 5 has. I don't believe the carrier-specific models of the Note 4 are yet known but I'm assuming to get UMTS and LTE band 4 support that I'd have to get the T-Mobile model and unlock it. However I'm also a little confused as I read somewhere that with the Note 3, the SM-N900T (sold by T-Mobile) and the SM-N900W8 (apparently sold by all Canadian carriers) all have pentaband support albeit just with carrier-specific ROMs although this thread seems to suggest the only way to get band 4 support is with the T-Mobile model.
I'd appreciate any advice from knowledgeable users about this. I'm sure there must be others who want to move to the Note 4 but want pentaband support including LTE where possible.
Thanks.

Nothing is better than Nexus 5 until Nexus 6
as u know u can feel freedom with nexus device
don't upgrade to note 4 buy it beside nexus 5
Yes I must admit that the Nexus devices are fantastic. I had the Nexus 4 and also the Galaxy Nexus. Nexus 6 will be interesting.
Unless you need S Pen (as I do), don't move from the Nexus land of quick updates and stock Android.
Differs from person to person. I'm moving from the Nexus 5 mainly because of the smaller screen, no expandable storage and subpar battery life.
For me, I say sell the Nexus 5

This sums up my thoughts quite well.
I love the Nexus 5 for its simplicity (it just works, no crashes, no hassle) and the sheer speed of it. However, I'm getting very frustrated with the battery life, it gets me through a day, but I have to keep an eye on what I have running (no location, no Google Now, etc) which is annoying, and I have to limit my use sometimes if I know I won't be able to charge it until the late evening.
The lack of memory is also a killer for me. I don't think I will ever get a device with only 32GB of storage again, I store a lot of stuff on my phone, which leaves me with very little free storage, and I end up juggling what I have saved/installed on the phone. 64GB would be an absolute minimum of storage, but ideally I'd want a microSD slot.
The camera on the N5 is decent, but there's been a few times where it's annoyed me with poor performance, slow use time, and poor focus performance. It can take some pretty nice photos most of the time, but an upgrade would be definitely welcome!
Then there's the size, I actually really like the size of the N5, but I'm just tempted to try something larger and see how I get on with it. The same goes for the S-pen, I may find that I don't use it at all, but then again I might find it something that I really enjoy having.
So overall... I'll probably swap the N5 out for the N4.
I have the HTC One M7 and this is the last time I am getting a phone that does not have removeable battery(I dont like power bank) and memory. I will be moving to the N4. BUT I will dearly miss the two front speakers as I like to Skype and video chat on it. I dont like headphones.

Carrier Nexus 6P and Updates from Google

Does anyone know if a Nexus 6P bought on contract from a carrier (I'm in Canada and looking at Bell) if the OS updates are received in the usual (quick-ish) fashion directly from Google or if the Carriers get in the way and delay them?
I'm on Rogers and I receive them right away.
It was bought on contract.

You shouldn't see any delay. This phone works out of the box on virtually every carrier.

For verizon users

When looking on my verizon account, my nexus 6p shows up as a blank phone compared to the other phones on my account. I know the nexus 6p is an unlocked device. Just wondering if others have this.
Yup it's an "unlisted" device in their database. I have the same issue. Doesn't affect anything really.

LTE-Advanced Nexus 6P Verizon?

so as you all might know verizon launched LTE-Advanced on most of their phones today. and since i'm a verizon customer with a Nexus 6P that's capable of doing LTE-A i was wondering if there is anyway to activate this feature on the Nexus 6P. I hope someone figures out a trick or software to activate it. Thanks
It is a radio thing so it should not need to be activated.
