Hello everyone,
I'm thinking to buy a Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition from the Play Store in the US; the thing is I'm going to use it in Europe (in Italy to be precise), so I was wondering whether or not it's fully "compatible" with the standards over here since I know that the US & EU versions are slightly different especially for what concerns LTE and the # of cores.
Will the battery be drained by the absence of the LTE network (like 3G does when the connectivity is low) or not?
Further and most important, does the S4 sold onto the Play Store have the SIM card or what?
Is it slower than then the EU edition (non GE, obviously) as it apparently has less cores?
Is there any other drawback that should prevent me from buying it?
Thank you!

Hardware wise is exactly the same, so no worries here. Just tell me how are you going to buy and ship it to Europe?. As far I know the play store is region locked.

Actually this site says otherwise, or at least for what concerns Samsung ones:
http://s4tips.com/which-one-is-mine-s4-quad-core-or-octa-core-gt-i9500-or-gt-i9505/
Who said i'm going to ship it?
Just buy the international i9505 and flash the google edition rom. There is absolutely no difference and you get to flash Samsung back if you want.

Yeah, I thought of that too..
Still, I thought it might be more convenient money-wise to buy in the US. Further, isn't the bootloader blocked in the ones that are NOT Google?
(Btw, did you flash the GE OS onto yours?)

Hi MaKTaiL
Will it be OK for me to flash a USA Google edition rom on my UK I9505, i.e.. what about the difference in basebands (radio part)? would my 4G still work?
Most of the Google edition roms on XDA seem to be experimental or pre release roms at present?
Thanks in advance bud.

Yes, it will work just fine. I'm currently using the 4.3 leak, everything is working perfectly, despite it being a leak.
I'll PM you in a few minutes with the download link for an untouched Google Edition ROM (no mods, no root, simply stock) and all the instructions.
EDIT
Just sent the PM.

Sorry for the late reply, I was at work. I'll PM you both in a few minutes.
I got it from a thread on Galaxy S4 AT&T forums. The guy made an untouched rom for both AT&T and i9505 versions.
The thread got really famous around the internet and Samsung found out about it and asked XDA to close it.
It was sad but I had the lastest version here with me already, so I uploaded for you guys. :good:
PS.: And no, you won't get updates directly. You will have to wait for the system dump and for someone to make a flashable zip of it.
I'm sure it won't take long for it when the update comes. Hahahahahaha. People on XDA are really fast.

I dont know how to flash the Odin version though. You cant flash bootloader nor the modem for example. It is safer to flash the zip. But do as you like and tell us if it worked.

Hello, please help me out I have bought a CN version of Asus zenfone 2 instead of the WW version without knowing that there's different versions.
What is the difference between CN and WW version?
Is it possible to change my phone to WW version and is it legal? If so, how to do it? please provide me with
Only difference is few more apps on CN version. Yes you can change from CN to WW. http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/asus-zenfone-2-flashing-recovery-mode-t3096596

They are the same, the only difference is that you don't have Google APS with CN version which you can install easy but you get 1 hour + more on screen time because the WW firmware is bugged.
I bought the CN version with WW firmware and I barely made 3 hours ost so I installed the CN firmware and I enjoy 4,5 to 5 hours ost when fully charged my opinion is if you have the CN firmware stay with it until the WW battery life is improved.
Sorry wrong quote haha

Updated my CN phone to the latest version of WW what worked fine for me.
Another difference is that the LTE/4G bands are different on the CN phone. Right new its not possible to change this but they are busy with it in this thread:

Another "difference" is that European Asus will give support and warranty for the WW models and not for CN models. Didn't know that we can change so easily for CN version to wW. Find in some forums lots of people worried about CN firmwares in europe...
Thank you so much for your replies. However, in the CN version am I going to be receiving same updates as the other versions?

If you install the WW firmware you won't receive ota you have to manually download the file and run the update if you keep the CN version then you will receive the same updates and ota will work . if you fi to Asus. Com and see the firmware release you will notice that the WW firmware and the CN one have the exact same release notes so I guess the only difference is that the CN don't include the gaps
CN does not include Gapps but they are easily installed. It also does not include a lot of the bloat that comes pre-installed with WW. If you intend to stay with stock there is absolutely no benefit in converting from CN to WW other than to gain the free Google drive storage.
I have moved to Super Zen Rom which has a WW base but would not have converted for any other reason.

Another question, Is it true that I won't be able to install APK?
The Google installer app is s good place to start. Only install play store and Google service framework from it. Once these are installed you can just download any other Google apps you want from play store. It may install old versions of playstore and the service framework. If these don't update automatically just post here and I'll upload the latest versions to Dropbox for you.
I'm not sure what you mean from your last question about installing APK. You will be able to install any compatible app from play store. If you want to install an apk from any other source you will have to enable unknown sources in settings. You will get a prompt to do this anyway if you do install an apk yourself.
Anyway of you run into any problems just ask here.

So I've noticed that there are some international firmware available online:
http://aria-file.com/?cd=Huawei/M/Mate 8 - NXT
Unfortunately, seems to be all Iranian sites, and they all want money for the downloads.
Anyone see these files out in the wild somewhere? I'd like to try flashing the international firmware over my Chinese firmware.
hm not sure but it looks like im able to download the roms without having to pay. will try again from my laptop (on mobile now) and report back...

I managed to pay for it and get the latest firmware for both international models. I also successfully converted my Chinese model to an international model, in terms of software. I will write more in a separate post after figuring this out a little more.

Hi there guys, just wanted to know how do I get google services and play store on my Samsung Galaxy A9 pro? As for the A9000 it had a hong kong version too aside from the Chinese version which had a different firmware that one could flash and get the Google apps, but with the A9100 (Galaxy A9 pro) there is no other firmware other than Chinese. I have seen people talking about them having the play store installed and working somehow and also have seen a chinese video on YouTube showing the play store installed and working. So my question is can anyone tell me specifically for this mobile. I know I have to put the files manually in my system and change permissions but that somehow didn't work as I dont know which version of playstore to install and what else should be installed along with the play store apk to make it work for eg googe framework and play services.
The other Chinese phones (non-samsung) have a simple way to get play store back for eg Xiaomi devices. My phone is rooted so if anyone can hop in and help I'd really appreciate it
Just download a micro package of gapps (google for it,its easy to find) and place all files from the pack in the right folders of your system with right permissions, look in installer script for the right permissions.done.
Install a GAPPS package with Flashfire.
will installing the latest apk for Play Services and Play Store work in these scenarios?
Please go to the forum "support a9 request" There is a guide to install playstore on the A9 pro..

Is there any advantage of getting the A9 Pro outside of China? I'm based in China, right next to Hong Kong.
A9 Pro is possible to get from Taobao for a nice ~2888 RMB ($430 in today's USD).
Not sure if A9 Pro is available in HK as I've read that the international version of A9 Pro has been launched on July 2nd or so. The only A9 Pro I've been able to find on HK price check (price.com.hk) is around $480 USD, so $50 more. And I can get the one in China with 2 clicks.

Hi,Guys Please Help Me!i have a p8 lite model ALE-L21C02B130!,how can i get marshmallow on the device(i am from south Africa)and will like the official version any help will be appreciated....
The first place to check is MENU - SETTINGS - ABOUT PHONE - SOFTWARE VERSION - CHECK FOR UPDATES. If the OTA notification doesn't show up then it's possible your carrier hasn't release the OTA yet. Also, if the update notification doesn't show up, you will need a PC or laptop to download the official firmware and perform the installation.
I also just went back and looked at the P8 Lite General Forum and there is a thread that appears to be dedicated to updating your P8 Lite from Lollipop to Marshmallow. That is where I would start.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA-Developers mobile app
i have checked there is no update available what with you recommend me doing waiting for carrier or flash it this way the device is (brand new)
If it were me and I wanted the official 6.0.1 MM I would flash it myself which is what I always do anyways. It doesn't matter to me if my device is brand new or not. I would read through the P8 Lite General Forum. There are several threads about updating to the latest 6.0.1 MM firmware and the region they are for. Where are you located? That will help you in finding the correct firmware to download and install.

I found a tutorial for upgrading manually. You have to download the update from the huawei server and put it on a sd card. In the settings you can choose "Local update" (i don't know the exact expression, im from germany). You can try it with HiCare also, but i don't know if this works...
For bad english: Sorry, i've learned english only in school, reading and in games

I found the same tutorial for your device. It appears to be pretty simple too. Do you want me to post the tutorial I found or are you okay with the one you have?
