Hi,Guys Please Help Me!i have a p8 lite model ALE-L21C02B130!,how can i get marshmallow on the device(i am from south Africa)and will like the official version any help will be appreciated....
The first place to check is MENU - SETTINGS - ABOUT PHONE - SOFTWARE VERSION - CHECK FOR UPDATES. If the OTA notification doesn't show up then it's possible your carrier hasn't release the OTA yet. Also, if the update notification doesn't show up, you will need a PC or laptop to download the official firmware and perform the installation.
I also just went back and looked at the P8 Lite General Forum and there is a thread that appears to be dedicated to updating your P8 Lite from Lollipop to Marshmallow. That is where I would start.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA-Developers mobile app
i have checked there is no update available what with you recommend me doing waiting for carrier or flash it this way the device is (brand new)
If it were me and I wanted the official 6.0.1 MM I would flash it myself which is what I always do anyways. It doesn't matter to me if my device is brand new or not. I would read through the P8 Lite General Forum. There are several threads about updating to the latest 6.0.1 MM firmware and the region they are for. Where are you located? That will help you in finding the correct firmware to download and install.

I found a tutorial for upgrading manually. You have to download the update from the huawei server and put it on a sd card. In the settings you can choose "Local update" (i don't know the exact expression, im from germany). You can try it with HiCare also, but i don't know if this works...
For bad english: Sorry, i've learned english only in school, reading and in games

I'm in Canada , but I've been in the Huawei official forum for a year. Few days ago, Huawei released an official ROM for mate 7, only you have to register for getting it.
Well, I consider it as the official ROM, not the beta.

Please refer to this link (add a \ in between) cn.club.vmall.com thread-5092235-1-1.html
if you can read chinese
as that post states, if you are one of their internal testing members, you should get your ota soon. But if you installed the leaked version by yourself, you should roll back to the stable version so that you could get the ota (stable version links are posted in that post).
either case, after registration, you will get your ota in one or two business days.
Hope that helps.

Is this a official release or again some kind of beta program?
I used Google translate but result is not very good I could not understand much.
Should I wait an OTA soon?

I think you can consider it as an official release although it might contain some bugs. I've no idea when huawei will push the update to every mate 7, but I am very sure only if you do a simple quick registration, you will be getting the ota next day.

Well, after update, it doesn't have a "beta" in the build number, and the update log seems to be like a normal update log.
At least this update is for "public", there's what Huawei calls it.

The B320 official ROM only for chinese devices, international vision have to be ROOT and need to be modified some system documents to fix the network issues. There are also so many apps will be invalid due to restriction of region.
Where / which folder do I copy the update.zip file to update my Mate 7?
I copied straight to the internal memory of the phone, but local update won't find it.

yes there is but there are a few hoops to jump through
first you have to convert your phone to dual sim follow the below thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/guide-debranding-converting-single-sim-t3305977
then after the final ota update download the following and install thanks to lokopepe who put the link up (sorry dont kow how to put profile in )
http://consumer.huawei.com/es/support/downloads/detail/index.htm?id=78426
and install the above as you installed the CUSTOM update install
hope this helps i have just completed this today so it works
Update 07.may:
I performed the update from the Honor Homepage using the Update -App.
Update started normally but then there was an error at approximately 65% progress. Update stopped and I only could perform a Reboot.
Marshmallow booted and seems to run more or less okay, but how can I be sure everything needed has been updated??
Maybe Marshmallow Software is ok, but Hardware Update files did not install or something like that.
Anyone else with this issue?
I have found a video containing the Problem at approximately minute 4:04 you can see the Problem/ error message

Ok, i just wanna make Shure not to break my Brand new phone when using the non-premium Firmware... I think you can understand that.
I have read about battery issues with the b330 Marshmallow Update. Any gerneral concerns or is this only a minor issue with some very rare device constellations?
Is it safe to use these update files from the honor Homepage with the Update-app or do i have to use the keycode *#-something Variant or the 3 button service menu during startup/boot process?

You should redo the update process again! The shown error seems to be normal at the first time of upgrading.
Put the update.app into folder "dload" at your external sd card and enter the update code *#*#2846579#*#* to start the update process! Otherwise you can press volume up & down & power button for more than 5 sec. to start the process! This time, it should finish the update process with 100%. Good luck!
Edit: have forgotten some star! it's completed now!`

Is there anyone out there that knows how to update the Mate 9 Pro (Lon-l29c)? The firmware finder app seems suspiciously unable to supply an "authenticated" update package, & paying funky Huawei every time I need to update is a bit to much for me. I have the files for the update, I just have no idea how to go about making the phone use it even recognize the files. Are there any methods available other than the two I mentioned?

Not to be rude, but I posted to find another method other than funky Huawei. Even with the fact that it's just $30 for 5 updates is way more than I would ever spend for something I've done for free. I plan to have this phone for years, and I'm pretty sure there'll be more than just 5 updates in a year (there's been 3 in the 2 months I've owned the device already).

Do you need to do any extra steps on the Mate 9 Pro? Is not having an external sd card in our phones a problem?
Currently considering rebranding to C636, since that versions seems to get updates fastest.

Tried again. I just kept getting that incremental stuff where it keeps wanting to download another patch.
So. I cleared the folder specified in FF, rebooted the phone and then it kept saying the connection was unstable.
So, I uninstalled FF Proxy and then reset the connection. File downloaded. Phone rebooted and said it couldn't verify the file and now.....
"Your device has failed verification" on boot up. It will work if I press the power button, but something is clearly wrong. It suggests I use 'ERecover' which states it will download the most recent build over Wifi.
Balls. Will give it a try - but I fear I've bricked the bloody thing!

Ah. Thanks for that. That's how you get around that problem!
Onto the new problem - "Your device has failed verification." Huawei's own solution failed. I presume it only works in Asia or China. It appears to want you to use 'ERecover' and wifi*not fully booted phone) to download a system image. Doesn't work. (Funky Huawei use this method, but they change your DNS so presumably ERecover points at their servers for a fee.)
Apparently factory reset doesn't work either and I didn't wanna start from scratch again.
I Googled about and this does seem a relatively common issue and someone else got the issue on a Huawei Mate 9 (not pro) doing the same thing. The OTA updates can cause this, he flashed an older firmware. I tried to flash the older firmwares, two of which got 'not authenticated' messages. So, going for broke, I had a go at installing the newest B182 firmware FULL again through FF. By some miracle - it worked and fixed the "Your device has failed verification." issue as well!!
Phew. So managed to get B182 on L29C636. :victory:
Only weird thing I got was Google Drive didn't want to work post installation(kept saying no network connection) - so I deleted all data from Google Play and this started working again.
Now that I know the critical point in using FF - "Download latest full package" as stated above. This shouldn't be such a ballache.
Can anyone confirm the benefit of converting the C636(Asian) to the European version- C432?
Hi,
I have recently bought this phone from a Hong Kong based seller. As with other Chinese phones I have bought from China/HK in the past, I always find the official ROM and flash what ever is on it now in case the seller or distributor has installed their own software on the phone.
So I am wondering. Where can I get the newest official ROM for my phone? Mine is the LON-L29. Huawei doesn't seem to have a list of roms on their website unlike Xiaomi?
And can I just flash it right on the phone with out unlocking bootlockers or anything like that? With Xiaomi phones I could always just flash the official rom with any program and that was it. Not sure if I need to unlock anything on this phone?
Thanks,

And can I just flash it right on the phone with out unlocking bootlockers or anything like that? With Xiaomi phones I could always just flash the official rom with any program and that was it. Not sure if I need to unlock anything on this phone?
Thanks,

U can use Firmware Finder to upgrade your phone u can find it in Play Store. It's wery importent to use same Cust as your phone or u will brick it.
Check your version before u upgrade. Your cust version you can check in Settings - About phone it should show LON-L29Cxxx so if it is C636 or C432 or something else u can use the Firmware with same Cust number.

Excellent thank you for that.
Do you know where Firmware Finder downloads its ROMs from?
And once I have downloaded the correct ROM from Firmware Finder, what program on my computer should I use to format the phone and install it?
Thanks,
I noticed the firmware updater seems to list a few roms for my device.
Not all are approved when I click "CHECK FIRMWARE ACCESS"
Which one do I download? The newest ROM at the top? Or the one that currently on my phone(l29c185b229) or the newest one that is approved when check firmware access checks it?
Please help. Thanks,
Jag

Hi, sorry for late answer we are in a different time zone.
The next approved seems to be B240 for your device. B is Build number, higher build newer Firmware. Build that starts with 2 is Nougat, build that starts with 3 is Oreo.
Remember to use FullOTA-MF when u upgrade. But if u go from Nougat to Oreo u must use FullOTA-MF-PV or you will end up with a broken cust and the Firmware wont be completly installed.
Importent to read before upgrade, the community forum on Mate 9 Pro is very small, u can read on Mate 9 forum more about how to upgrade.
U must allways check if your imei is approved, if not approved u cant upgrade.
The Firmware Finder check direct on Huawei server data base for new firmwares.

Thank you for your reply. I did the first update that was approved by IMEI and it worked. I am now on 8.0.0.360
It all seems ok. I am pretty sure the ROM I used was FULLOTA-MF-PV but I cannot remember. What happens if you get a broken cust?
So this removes the old ROM and now I am fresh with a Huawei offical rom? I just want to make sure as I bought this phone from a Hong Kong store and I worry that they may install their own software.
Thank you for you help

Seems u did all ok, if you would have a broken cust u would be missing stuff like keyboard, bluetooth and some other stuff. It removes the old firmware when u flash.
The C185 Cust is for region Middle East Africa, C636 is for Asia and C432 is for Europe. I dont know in what region u live?
U can rebrand the phone to another region if u want but then u must use a paid service as FunkyHuawei.

I am actually missing the Google Keyboard. But Swift keyboard is installed by default and therefore I didn't think anything of it.
I will make sure my Bluetooth is there when I get home tonight. Felt like normal Android to me just the Google keyboard wasn't there.

nope it isn't there. I can't find it in the full app list either so seems it wasn't installed.
When I get back home I will see if I got my Bluetooth. Maybe Google Keyboard isn't installed by default.

So what I just did, has effectively deleted the old ROM which was Android 7 and has installed the newest ROM avaiable to my phone?
Just want to make sure there isn't any Hong Kong store garbage on it. If it just updated to the new Android some of that rubbish might be left behind?
Thank you a lot.

It deletes the old Firmware when u upgrade, so all should be gone. To be 100% sure make a Factory Reset. And Factory Reset is always god to do if u upgrade to a new Android system like from Nougat to Oreo.
