Great battery life on RU 134 firmware using App optimisation - YotaPhone

I have been using my YotaPhone with the latest RU firmware (134) for a while now and especially after App optimisation kicked in after 3 days (it takes 3 days for App optimisation to start optimising apps) battery life is excellent for me. I almost solely use the second screen (I use the Yota as my second phone) and a full charge easily lasts 5 days now (see attached screen). I don't use YotaEnergy but App optimisation works independent of that, although it is a little confusing that it is under the YotaEnergy option suggesting that you need to switch YotaEnergy on for it to work. Just something I wanted to share.

Do you have YD201 or YD206? If you have YD206 which radio do you use? The one in RU firmware or one from CN firmware?

Mine is a Chinese 206 converted to a 201 by flashing the latest RU firmware on it. I also have the RU radio on it.

Converted? Bands don't change.. uh!

You're right, I just meant it now says 201 in the system menu. I use mine as my second phone with only wifi enabled, no sim inserted so the bands don't matter to me.

Toggle switches to the left of right to enable app optimisation.

It is not clear to me, if the toggle switches for the list of apps should be positioned to the left or right to enable app optimization.
Is it necessary to alter any of these, or will the optimization be automatic?

When the switches are to the right (green) they are on. By default you can have them all on, only apps that maybe behave weird when in optimisation should be excluded. Please take note that it will take 3 days before the first apps will be optimised. When you have the notification switch on you will get a notification when an app is going into optimised mode. Apps that are optimised will also have a "App is being optimised" message below the name on this screen.

There's the hybrid baseband in the link, it also solves the proximity sensor, but on Marshmallow Wifi Is always scanning :/

On the screenshot i can see that you only use Wifi and left the sim card slot blank, right? cause you don't use sim, as you said.
So, i am curious, why don't you just turn on Flight Mode and after that enable WiFi?
So this must be even better in energy saving than just leaving it blank?
I'll try this now by myself cause i am using it as my second phone too and only outdoors with sim.
On my phone i didn't see the "App is beeing otimised" note though.

I have YD206 and I put the last RU rom 134. Unfortunately, the range was almost not so I put radio from 4.4.3. The range is now very good but the battery is discharged at a rapid rate. Any idea?

Hi, I also have a YD206 and it originally came with HK firmware installed. The main guide (https://forum.xda-developers.com/yotaphone-one/help/guide-everything-to-yotaphone2-t3547194) instructs one to install the CN radio files if you have YD206 but you're saying you get better battery life with the HK radio files? By latest HK radio, do you mean the radio files from the newest version listed here? ftp://fw.ydevices.com/YotaPhone2/Firmwares/HK/

I removed my earlier post so there's less confusion, it was wrote when people here were starting to solve the proximity bug. Right now the best baseband software for YD206 is the hybrid.
The Answer to your Question:
No, YD206 have best connection with China Baseband radio files, but there's bugs with proximity sensor, the guys that made the latest hybrid baseband with Chinese radio solved the proximity bug and others: https://forum.xda-developers.com/yo...ick-unlock-t3531682/post71581534#post71581534
So if you have the TWRP recovery installed you can just flash the TWRP zip file so you have the hybrid baseband, that right now is the best for YD206.

So i think people have to distinguish two things when you want to flash:
- the Build
- and the baseband version
Mine came with Android 4.4.3 and had
-Build: KTU84L.4.4.3-S001-003-HK1.0.3.61a
-baseband: S01_003_3034_CN1_M05
(Modell: YD206)
when i flashed it to Android 5.0, i used the Russian Firmware .124 to have the RU build,
then took out the content of the radio folder (because the russian firmware has different baseband)
and put the chinese baseband into it and flashed it.
So everything works fine, no proximity problem or anything.
when the 6.0 update comes i'll have to figure out to use the chinese baseband version again.

You can try this stuff to verify OP
https://www.xda-developers.com/xda-external-link/extreme-battery-life-guide/ or ever checked
https://androidbycode.wordpress.com...-historian-to-tame-your-battery-draining-app/ ?
(also explained here https://developer.android.com/studio/profile/battery-historian.html)
[using https://github.com/google/battery-historian ]
Or did you disable logging ? That would save some more battery.

New firmware update from KIES (Not Froyo)

Hello friends,
Something really strange has happend today, I connected my SGS to KIES and got a message saying "new firmware upgrade available"... You all can guess what was my first thought.
But no, it wasn't Froyo ,it was the same firmware that I previously had??? I really don't get what's going on, I live in Mexico, my phone was bought on UK online, and my phone CSC is from TMN (Portugal).
Not using any custom firmware, I have only rooted and installed voodoo lagfix, absolutely nothing else.
Any one else having same "upgrade" available?
By the way, this is the upgrade:
Model Name: GT-I9000
Current Version: PDA:JM8 / Phone:JM4 / CSC:JM1
Latest Version: PDA:JM8 / Phone:JM4 / CSC:JM1
Just wanted to let you know about this since I didn't found anything related in the forums today.
Cheers
I got exactly the same thing :|
Only this is a canadian SGS on canadian soil, no reg was done and it's all just the same JH2 all over the place :|
Minor fix maybe?
I confirm the same in India but should we upgrade or not??????
Same here in the UK.
PDA:JM1 / PHONE:JM1 / CSC:JM1 and I'm offered the same thing...
Really To update or not to update, that is the question...
I tried to upgrade, but my workplace's firewall keeps blocking download...
maybe it's some kind of minor update before being able to move to froyo?
tried it again and now it says latest version is installed

Very strange. Same here.
That is strange, sounds like a false alarm... or some kind of testing from Samsung.
testing i suppose
Got this as a work phone a few weeks back, am on the Bell network in Canada. I had the same upgrade message this morning, and did upgrade.
Do not see of feel anything different, if anyone has any specific info they want me to search on the phone - let me know
Regards
GT-I9000HKDXEU e GT-I9000HKDITV donìt work
FWIW and should anyone be interested
As noted - have had the phone for about three weeks now, and it is a bone stock phone - being used on the Bell Network. I grabbed the details from the phone, as after a few hours of use, the unit does appear to be much more responsive and "quick". This of course could just be a placebo effect.
Model: GT-I9000M
Firmware: 2.1 update 1
Baseband: I9000UGJH2
Kernel: 2.6.29 [email protected] #2
Build: Eclair.UGJH2
I did not catalog the details before the upgrade - so do not know if anything has been changed.
Regards,
I don't think much has changed on your phone details, maybe you just got some system files overwritten. Did your phone language change after installing update? ,or did you loose any configuration you had previously set?

Doesn't KIES basically nuke the phone and put the new firmware over, minus the internal and external SDs? As in you lose your apps and configs?

All installed apps were gone - all email settings, etc were gone as well. Seemed like a new flash, had to reset my Google account info as well.
language did not change
Regards,
when I updated from JM1 to JM8 through KIES I didn't loose anything, my phone kept all apps, and configurations, but my language and other configurations got lost...
Seems like you flashed "same" firmware again, hopefully a better than you previously had, your phone's performance improvement might be due to loosing all apps.
Apart from that, everything is the same? did you loose any carrier customization? or get new apps you didn't had before?

Everything is the same - did not loose any carrier customization, no new apps. As noted, it does "seem" a bit quicker, and I do not think the two apps I had installed make the difference ( APNDroid and Vizbattery widget ) I have since re-installed the two apps, and the phone feels just as quick.
The one complaint I had from the start was the low volume on the ear piece for incoming calls. At full volume - I was having trouble hearing the people on the other end. That appears to be a bit better. I will keep an eye on that - as noted, has been my number one complaint to date.
Regards,
PS - doubt anything has really changed - probably just the fact of an update makes me think it is different / better in some way.

Galaxy S5 Plus (SM-G901F) losing mobile signal and gps after Marshmallow update

After updating to Android 6.0.1, the phone is randomly losing mobile and gps signal. It happens about 30-40 times a day, especially when moving around, like driving . Almost every time I look at my phone, I see "No service, network not found" or "gps lost" messages. After about 10 seconds, the signal comes back and everything is ok again. Very annoying and impossible to use navigation apps, like Waze and Google Maps. I have made a soft reset, a hard reset, wiped all data and cleared the phone cache, checked and cleaned the Sim card. Nothing helps. Before update the phone worked brilliantly. Also noticed, that the signal won't drop when using wifi, the problem occurs only when data connection is on. And I'm not the only one, I have 2 friends with the same phone and the same problem. Looks like a software issue. Can somebody help?
PS. I'm from Estonia, and the software version is G901FXXU1CPE1/G901FBAL1CPE1
Thank you in advance...
Hi mate,
I Have the same device although mine uses a custom ROM but the problem I experienced was exactly like yours
Samsung released a new issue of the 6.0.1 for our phone, PDA G901FXXU1CPF6 CSC G901FPHN1CPF2 you can login to the sammobile site and download it
As I said above I have a custom ROM so I only flashed the modem firmware from that release and worked fine after that!
Hope that will help you!
Thanks for your response! But I'm using a totally stock phone and I see, that this firmware is for Netherlands. Does it work on my phone or I have to wait until the Baltic version is released?

Hello,
I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work but just in case make a note of your Access point name settings in the mobile networks tab just to make sure that everything is the same after you flash the new release .
If you follow the steps as described in the sammobile site you won't have any problems.
What I have noticed however is that after I flashed the new modem firmware the mobile hotspot does not work anymore but this has to do with my custom ROM.
It worth trying though the performance of the phone after that is exceptional and the signal strength is higher than before and most importantly, doesn't crash anymore..
Let me know if you need help and keep me posted about your results!
i had that ROM for a while, didnt help in my case, still same issue. I'm currently on XXU1CPG3 with which the issue still persists, gonna try flashing the new TPD CSC ROM (currently the newest) ROM Version CPH9. My baseband is still CPE1, which do you guys have?

From what I understand it doesn't matter which ROM you are using the baseband is the one that causing this problem..
As I said I have a custom ROM and when I had the CPE1 baseband then I had all these problems.
If you flashed the ROM and your baseband is still CPE1 then something did not go per plan I think..
After flashing ONLY the modem firmware from the CPF6 release to my SMG901F is reported that the baseband version is CPG2 however..
This version works for sure..
I might try the CPH9 release now to see if the issues i have with the mobile hotspot will be solved

I'll try to install that CPH9 release too. Let's see what happens, because I have tried everything else.
To me it seems, that this CPE1 version is having problems with switching between network modes. I checked, that in Settings- Mobile networks- Network mode is set to LTE/3G/2G (automatic connect), but I haven't seen H+, H or Edge symbols on top of the screen. Only 4G/4G+ or no reception at all. Like it's locked in 4G network or something. And sometimes when there is no 4G network coverage, there is also no signal. But that is just my logic...
Ok, I flashed the latest CPH9 firmware and my baseband changed to CPH3. CSC Country turned to Netherlands instead of Baltic. And it seems that the issue is fixed!
I made a little test, I went to the cellar to get bad 4G reception and instead of showing No Service, 4G turned to H without losing the cell signal. Let's wait and see...
Thank you guys a lot for your help! :good:

Hello! It seems all the firmwares ending with CPE1/CPH1 are problematic. You can try some other firmware from http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G901F/
Select the firmware what seems best for you, don't select the operator-based ones, like vodafone etc. If you click on the firmware and scroll the page down, you will see step-by-step instructions how to install it. Good luck!

Unable to update from 4.4.4 n910f

Hello everyone..
I have the problem with updating software. Right now on my phone is 4.4.4. and I would like to update the software to the latest official. Through Software Update option on phone it says "Unable to download software", and through KIES that this is the latest software. Can you tell me what should I do to update sw through ODIN? Should I firstly root the phone, and in case I need, can you give me the links to all files, and for root and for sw?
heres the sw version https://postimg.org/image/q2hd7sb5h/
You don't necessarily need root to flash the latest software. I would however, flash a custom recovery to backup your data just in case.
You will lose all your data if you decide to flash marshmallow onto your phone through odin.
To flash it, download marshmallow from https://samsung-firmware.org/model/SM-N910F/
Select the appropriate firmware and download it, it'll take about 8 hours to download it, you can't really get a faster download anywhere else sadly.
Download Samsung USB drivers from https://androidmtk.com/download-samsung-usb-drivers
Once downloaded, open up odin and click on "AP", select the firmware you just downloaded.
Boot up your device in download mode Power + Vol Down + Home
Plug it in, and let ODIN recognize your device
Simply click on start and wait for to complete. You'll know it's complete when you'll see a green "pass" on the top left.
You now have marshmallow!
Okay, now i see that software depends from region. Actually, phone was buyed on aliexpress, does i need to know for which country the phone was intended or i should just download the software for country i am living?

It shouldn't really matter, just select the snapdragon software if your phone uses a snapdragon processor.

yes, agree with earlier reply...
you don't need to follow region. just download based on your phone model (I saw is N910F from your screenshot)....
choose the latest for N910F. and you are good to go.
but, my personal reference is......
choose the one without the provider....
because the one with the provider (e.g : Poland (Orange))... this one will give you the telco provider apps as well, which might not use for you.
Remember to backup your contact, your whatsapp, your sms, or whatever u need to backup.
Cheers,
WJ

As you said, I have done.. Everything went fine, now im running marshmallow.. Just the downloading from samsung-firmware was so boooooring. I couldnt wait so ive paid 7days membership, and even then, only from mirrored link was possible do download correctly. Via first link, two times downloaded only 1gb and then interrupted. However, now when it is finished im pleased with the performance.
P.S. Can you direct me to any links where is described GPS hardware on note 4? I am pretty sure I have some hardware failure with gps. With both software, and kitkat and marshmallow, GPS programs shows only 10-15 visible satellites, but none in use (Used to wait and to 20minutes to connect, no results).

Depending on where you live LTE bands can be different, in that case you have to flash the RADIO from the original Chinese firmware. GSM bands should not be affected as far as I know. There are several people who have replaced the radio in the firmware here on the forum so a quick search should let you know how to do that. All the languages are available in the RU version.
The only thing different in the video is that they download the firmware first and then extract it and put it in the right folder. YotaFlasher can also do that for you but the method in the video also works. Hope this helps.

Looking on the posts here, i found some ppl telling of the battery life of Yotaphone 2 on Android 5.0 is reducing more fast.

The RADIO is ondeed responsible for supporting the LTE bands, they have to match the phones hardware.
I use my YotaPhone as my seconds phone and only use the second screen for message checking and stuff like that. I rarely use the main screen. With that kind of use I can get between 3 and 5 days of battery use. But I don't know what the battery use is of used as your primary phone.

Yotaphone getting too hot

Hello Everybody,
I bought a Yotaphone 2 model YD206 at Gearbest. The Smartphone arrived with Android KitKat, I used for some time and it was OK, but after updating to Android 5 ROM CN it started getting too hot while casual using such as Facebook, E-mail, Whatsapp.
Is that normal? I expected that it could get warm only while playing games or using GPS, but for my surprise it is getting too hot only for normal usage.
Is there anyone who get the same problem? If I change to another rom such RU or EU can solve the problem?
I already root the phone and also installed xposed together with L Speed to see if the problem persists, but it is still happening.
Thanks in advance!
Is there a chinese version of Lollipop?
Anyway, I see many people like you complaining about the phone getting hot after an upgrade. My guess is that its related to the baseband version. Since your model is YD206, are you sure you have flashed the correct chinese baseband with this so-called CN firmware (isn't it HK? Isn't it for YD201 models?)?

Yes, the model before updating was YD206 CN and after flashing to Android 5 it changed to YD201 HK 1.124d.
Is there a CN firmware running Android 5? I only found HK. Maybe this is the reason it is getting hot, the baseband / radio from these versions are different, can it be?
Yeah, I would definitely flash the YD206 baseband.
In this thread here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/yotaphone-one/help/guide-everything-to-yotaphone2-t3547194), there's a revamped version of the YotaFlasher attached to the first post. With this one, it is possible to select what to flash individually to the device, i.e, whether system+radio+userdata, or only system, or only radio etc. With that you can choose to flash only the radio files from YD206 firmwares.
Use this reworked YotaFlasher, download any chinese Kitkat firmware and make sure to allow to flash only the radio binaries when prompted.
