[Q] GPS not working on CM7

Hi all,
so yesterday I flashed CM7 on my Legend after having Modaco's Customized ROM installed. However, I have the same issue as some users with GPS. I've tried flashing all different Radio versions available, but I just can't get a GPS fix (neither with Maps nor with GPS Status).
Does anyone have a solution to this?
Thanks!
My Gps only works when i use this radio version 7.08.35.21 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=706435
i'm CM7 nightly built 42 to...
hello,
I had problems myself with the cm7 stable. gps was not working. But then wipe data, cache and cache dalvik, re-flash cm7, install radio 7.08, gapps... then boot... made the apps restore reboot again. then turn on gps status and in 20secs had a fix with 7 satelites.
this is my contribution to the comunity.
Edit: I Just wanna say that is working but not 100%. So i believe, that should have some bug fix in the next days. because not every legend respond well with the two radio that people says to install.

GPS lock problems on i9505

Hi all,
I have a GT-I9505, running stock ROM I9505XXUGNG8 (KitKat 4.4.2), and I can NOT get the GPS to work. I've used GPS tester programs "GPS Test" and "GPS Status" and what I see is that the phone sees anywhere from 12-20 satellites, but does not get a fix on any of them. Once in a blue moon I'll get 1 or two to lock. I am outside or in the car when I use the tester programs, so no interference from buildings.
It is rooted, has busybox and CWM recovery on it. It does not have Yahoo Weather (just the weather app that came with the phone). I don't know if it is hardware or software at this point. It does seem to have the lovely Knox bootloader. (SE for Android status - Enforcing)
*#1234# tells me:
AP: I9505XXUGNG8
CP: I9505XXUGNG8
CSC: I9505OXAGNG8 (but I use the phone in Israel).
I've been trying to find a case that is similar to mine, but I haven't found one yet. Can anyone help me out here? I was going to re-flash the modem part of GNG8 just to see if that would help, Maybe going to CyanogenMod or reflashing the stock would help? What about GNH8? The I9505 is not sold in Israel at this time, so I have not found any Israel-specific ROM/CSCs for it. I don't know if the CSC for the I9500 (which is sold here) would help or hurt.
There are a lot of things I can think of to waste my time with, but I'm hoping some of the smart people in this forum will be able to help make it a shorter process.
Mate I've had this problem since I flashed |ROM|★GE★|►VJUGNH2◄|►41◄|.
I've tried CM11, I've tried stock for my area (UK)
I9505XXUGNG8_I9505BTUGNG2_I9505XXUGNG8_HOME.tar (stock ROM)
BL_I9505XXUGNG8_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT (stock bootloader)
GSM_Modem_XXUGNG8_and_LTE_Modem_XXUGNG8.tar (stock LTE modem)
and to no avail. I keep having GPS lock issues. I did flash Adams Kernal when flashing the GE and CM11 ROMS. But surely flahsing stock everything should fix the bloody GPS

It looks like it may have been the GPS antenna not being connected properly when it was built. I tried SlimKat and CM11 M9 to no avail. I thought I would see if the GPS antenna was physically broken, and it looked fine. But I did hear a click when I was working with it that made me think that it wasn't attached properly. I unplugged both ends, plugged them back in, and now all 3 roms work with the GPS. So I restored my nandroid backup of the stock GNG8 and life is good. Yeah, there's Samsung bloatware, but there are enough other things in the stock rom that I think I'll just stick with it for now.
So long and thanks for all the fish,
Wayne
Well, maybe I spoke too soon? It's true that detaching and re-attaching the GPS antenna makes the GPS work again, but it only works for about a day and then goes dead again. It starts working again when I take off the back and detach/re-attach the antenna. I can't continue to constantly go through that cycle. Is it bad hardware? Do I need to find a Samsung repair shop somewhere? Or is there a software setting I'm missing somwhere?
Thanks!
Hey, just a finall wrap-up for the thread. Long story short, I eventually did a complete wipe of the phone - dalvik, cache, system, data - everything, and then did a clean installation of one of the ROMs here (Optimized CM 12.1). At that point everything snapped back to life, the GPS locks quickly, it's all the way it should be. So I guess there was something deep in the system partition that was messing it up, and it took a total wipe to clear it out properly. Happy phone user now.

[Q] Video recording and video codec problems

I have an extremely persistent set of problems:
1. Unable to record video
- stock camera freezes and the phone restarts (no matter the resolution or storage)
- other camera apps (mx, open, google..) either freezes or acts like its recording but it doesn't
2. While playing some videos, the phone freezes and restarts (in 90% its instagram videos, but sometimes it plays them fine)
What i tried:
- a bunch of roms. The problems probably started with some of them.
- returned to a stock lolipop
- several custom and stock kernels
- a bunch of camera apps
Currently i'm on Audax rom v26.1 with its audax kernel.
Does anyone have idea what could i try?
Could it be a hardware problem? (other than that, camera works fine)
Thanks in advance.
So I solved it by:
Using Odin 3.11.1
I have already tried Factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, flashed the latest stock Lolipop or older lollipop with ODin and nothing solved the problem.
So I tried to flash the latest stock lolipop with Odin and marking checked (Auto Reboot , F. Reset Time , Phone EFS clear, Phone Bootloader update).
I suspect that the Phone EFS clear did the trick. It's function is related to the modem and radio of the phone. And clearly the modem has a problem here.
I hope this will help anybody out there having this issue.
This problem happened after trying to flash lollipop using FlashFire app to reserve the root that I had in my previos Android KK 4.4.2.

Hi there,
Sorry, but did not face any issue like that before.
If you have searched a lot for a solution and could not solve it, I suggest that you install this ROM:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development/purify-cm-13-hlte-n9005-unofficial-cm13-t3337234
This happened to me once after a terrible mistake , which is not related to my above issue. Then I installed this ROM and never looked back. Much snappier phone, lower battery usage and less heated device. I just love it. The only thing that I missed, the better camera app in the stock ROM, and the TouchWiz ability to show multiple apps at the same time.
I strongly suggest that you do a Nandroid backup then give this ROM a try. If you did not like it, you can always return to the Nandroid backup again.
You are frustrated now, like I was. Take a deep breath, and remember that we all went through such bad times with our phone, not just you. This is part of the experience of using such complicated devices. You will solve it eventually, believe me!

GPS Issue

Hi, in the past days I flashed multiple roms and updated BL and MODEM, after this operations I saw my GPS is broken. It can't fix satellites, it switch from no-fix to fix to no-fix continually. I search for a solution in many roms's threads but I have only seen people with my same problem.
Maybe I can find solution, I ask if this work for those who have had the GPS problem:
-Update BL to N9005XXUGPBPB2
-Update MODEM to N9005XXUGPBPB1
-Flashed lssKernel 3.4UX
-Flashed AryaMod 6.4
-Reboot system (first start initialization)
-Reboot in recovery
-Flashed GPS-fix (I have it in my PC, I don't know where I downloaded it)
Now all problems gone. I noticed if mobile data is disabled and enabled GPS there isn't fix no-fix issue.
Sorry for my bad english.

Seeking help regarding GPS fix [Samsung Galaxy E500H]

Hi All,
Indeed I've been struggling to fix my GPS which is one of the thing I can't travel without and I am too much dependent on it. I tried several below methods to make it work in anyways possible but its failing every time and I have almost given up. I have no idea what could be the problem which is not letting GPS triangulate my current position. Basically the problem is while I start the GPS (Maps) the phone is able to detect the location but while I start driving, it stucks saying (Searching for GPS) all the time! I really need some help here.
Tried all these following methods to fix this issue:
* Rooted phone with CF Auto Root believing that it might solve. And no luck here.
* Flashed E500H with custom firmware through Odin [And it didn't work]
* Installed GPS Status & Toolbox to re-calibrate the compass [That also didn't work. I tried with a cracked version too and still no luck]
Is there anything that I am missing out here? Please help if anything can be done here.
Thanks a lot in advance!!

I had same problem in CM 13 Galaxy E5 Cutom Rom. I was not able to fix it.
But it works in my stock ROM
I finally got a solution
This post worked for me https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/general/fix-google-maps-crazy-mm-cm-13-oem-fix-t3384447.
Hope this helps
If you run Stock Rom. Then the GPS is already OK.
If you install CM12. Then also GPS works.
If you install CM13 which is the best ROM till date as far as I have seen, then GPS doesn't work well. For that Install an application from Fake GPS location. And go to Developer Options and Allow Mock Locations. Then Run the app and locate your position manually and enable the faking. So now you can run the apps which needs location. But problem is it doesn't change as you move. You have to change it manually. So your problem persists. But I think some of your problems will get solved by this.
If you install Lineage 14 which is developed recently, GPS works fine. Indeed I am running Lineage 14 though its not as fast and smooth as CM13, but I love it.
So , best solution for you is install Lineage 14 .
