re flash help need
long story short tried to root my at&t varient s7 edge and ended up breaking my phone and there are tons of random little things wrong with my firmware and every time i try to reflash it, it fails and i have the right firmware files it wont flash thow can someone pls help me
I'm not too sure where to start. The S7 Edge on rogers is my first android phone(minus the note 7), and it's been a long time since I've tinkered with anything but a default OS. Last time I was installing custom roms it was on a HTC TYTN. I know I have a lot to learn before I attempt anything, but I'm having a tough time finding the information. Is there a "safe" as in wont damage the phone way to root? Is there a way to put it back to stock if i need to have warranty work done? If both of those criteria can be met I think I'm interested in doing some reading on the root process. I'm just not sure where to start. The main reason i want to root is for ad blocking, but I'm sure as I read up on the topic i'll find other things i'm interested in.
Thanks for your help.
I'm getting a G935FD (S7 Edge, Exynos, dual SIM Asian version) here in Europe, mostly due to a huge price difference. Heard the updates are coming out slow for these models, so can anyone confirm that a ROM from any S7 Edge can be flashed with no issues?
I'm thinking of Samsung ROMs only, so no Knox-tripping and updates still working.
Backup
Hi, I would like to try several ROMs, but I hate having to set up the phone again and again. i use Titanium for the apps, which is great, but it still takes a lot of time to go through all the settings and the setup of the edge screens.
Can those be backed up and restored in any way, too? Especially the edge panel settings would be a big help.
Why do I have 3 x Phone apps under System Application's- shouldnt it appear once? confused.
S7 Bricked
I recently (successfully?) rooted my phone, but couldn't make phone calls or texts so I tried factory resetting it. The factory reset worked but I still had the root and I couldnt make calls or texts, so I tried multiple times to unroot it through Odin and it said it worked on my last attempt, but now my phone is stuck on a black screen and a blue LED pops up. I get no vibrations or feedback from my phone. I've tried all the combos to reset, down home power, down power, power home up, home power, all of them. My only hope is to let the phone die of power and recharge it and see if it will work. Does anyone have any ideas? When I plug it in to my computer it wont detect it either.

Did you try flashing official firmware onto your device thru Odin to get rid of root? Oh wait, computer won't detect your device....I guess that won't work. Do u have snapdragon or exynos s7 edge?
I have an international s7 edge g935f rooted. After root I noticed that Google play movies won't load any movies. If I go to netflix, the movies work. I saw a post about removing a file in system/vendor/lib but I think it was for earlier phones and earlier software. I can't find that same file on the s7 edge. So I was just wondering if anyone had or has a fix for this because I have been searching for a few days now and can't find any other threads on this issue. Thanks in advance

Problem solved, unrooted. That was the problem, thanks for nothing!
I have this problem on my S7 edge after I did the auto-root, my recovery resets everytime and I can't make system changes I think this is because of the Samsung write protection is there any way to disable this write protection I tried mounting inside TWRP and also mounting with Root Browser but nothing happend
if i factory reset my rooted phone through twrp, does it remain rooted?
in case i mess something up super badly (which i will), will factory reset through twrp maintain my root?
Hi,
Does anyone know how to find out the region\country from the firmware info? I have a dual sim version purchased from ebay UK and wanted to know where is the phone from.
If I flash a different region FM via Odin would it trigger knox?
Thx

Probably not unless you find a custom firmware which is like that...
Can someone help me out. I flashed Nougat on a clean s7e using the Home CSC from my country (not the included CSC which was BTU). Now my original CSC is missing when I checked Phone Info, I performed a factory reset and used Smart Switch Emergency to flash the original firmware but its still blank. How would I go back?
Its a s7e unlocked TPA Pamama
thank you
Question regarding root & warranty:
If I root, I lose warranty. But does this mean that they will also refuse any hardware repairs? Like for example, if my display has problems or my home button doesn't work anymore (i.e. hardware problems not related to software/root).
Is someone gets random reboots?
After 1 month of use I had one. Phone been in standby on desk...

Can i still recieve OTA updates even KNOX tripped? I flashed the wrong file during the process of rooting it but then flashed Nougat beta stock to unroot to it. Thanks!

Good afternoon. First, thanks to all the developers for all of the work that they do. I really appreciate it. On to my questions:
Using the unlock guide, I'm now using my Spring S4 with a Straight Talk At&t Sim card. I flashed the JFLTE GPE Rom back in February, if I'm not mistaken. I have even updated the ROM, using the OTA updater. Lately I was getting very choppy playback with any music player and I kept having a recurring issue with my network. I would have a pop up asking to sign into the At&t network. This only started happening with the latest update. But since I had this ROM for a while, I figured I'd try something else. I flashed the latest GAMER 5.1 ROM, specifically for the Sprint S4 (L720) and didn't get any network service at all. I thought I lost my unlock. So I flashed back to GPE got my service back. I was under the impression that I could flash any ROM because my phone was unlocked. My first question is, with my unlocked Sprint S4 using a Straight Talk At&t sim card, what ROMS can I flash and keep my unlock? I tried to flash a At&t ROM, but the flash fails and states that the ROM is only for JFLTEATT and that I have JFLTESPR.
Would this happen if I was trying to go to Lollipop 5.1.x from 5.0x? Do I need to stick with only Sprint ROMS?
Also after all this, when I went back to GPE, I can no longer send any texts. I have tried all of the Straight Talk APNs, but keep getting At&t error code 96 when attempting to send a message. Any ideas on what could be causing this issue?
This has been going on for about 4 days now. It's been that long because I have been reading and reading, trying to see what I did wrong, or what I need to do to fix it. Please help. If anyone wants to help, but needs more info, please ask and I will get back to you asap.
Have your tried a non-AOSP ROM? The stock ROM?

I have not tried either option. I didn't want to try an option (stock) that might take away the unlock because right now I'm limited to using my work laptop and cannot use anything that will need "administrator" privileges. I can't even run Odin without the system blocking it. I will try a non AOSP Rom when I get home tonight. Thanks for your help and I will get back with you.
Hey, I have updated the ROM to CM12 and go into the Phone Info menu (*#*#4636#*#*) and I see where it says LTE/CDMA and I can change it to LTE/WCDMA, which is what it was in the unlock sequence. It will show the service switch over to At&t (Straight Talk At&t sim) and even show my number. However this doesn't stick and it reverts back to LTE/CDMA showing the provider as Sprint. Is there a way to make it stick? What is causing this? Its as if it knows it's unlocked but can't hold onto it.....I will try a non AOSP ROM as soon as I can get to my laptop . May I ask why you think that would work? I'm not doubting you, I'm just asking because I'm curious and really wanna know what would be different.

AOSP ROMs are notorious for data problems. Touchwiz is what was made specifically for your phone, everything just works. I'm just saying that will be an easy way to see if the ROMs you are using are the problem. There are custom Touchwiz ROMs that pack a lot more punch than ugly old stock.... like mine- Wicked X

Ha! I swear I was just looking at your thread for your ROM. The exact same one! I noticed that tag/picture and was thinking, is that the guy who has been helping me? Maybe I should try that one. I'm dl'ing now. Thanks. I think I found out the problem or at least some type of solution., even though I still can't seem to send any messages. In the Mobile Network option, I changed the Preferred network type to Global. Then in that same Phone Menu option, the LTE/WCDMA option actually stuck. I have data and can make calls, just not able to send messages. This was with the official CM12 Rom for jfltespr. It wasn't working earlier on this Rom, so maybe there's hope. Like I said, I'm dl'ing your Rom now and will install in the morning. Thanks and I really appreciate this. I will let you know how this works out.
Yeah WCDMA is AT&T.
Just one tidbit.. You can't flash *any* rom because your phone is unlocked. VERY important you know this.. Unlocked has to do with carrier and your sim. Unlocked means you can use it on any network.
Roms are typically made specifically for certain phone models and their varients..
Just keep this in mind

Thanks for confirming this. I looked through quite a few pages on the Domestic Sim Unlock Thread to find where I asked that particular question and read quite a few pages afterwards but never saw a reply to my question. What's crazy is that I did see people who said they unlocked the L720 and said they flashed t-mobile Roms. I also recall that they were having quite a few issues with their service as well though. But when I tried to flash At&t roms, it stops during the flashing process and won't let me go any further.
Last night I downloaded quite a few rom (Sprint specific) and flashed them. After playing around with each, I was able to get data and calling, but my messaging is still not working. I've tried several different messaging apps (Google messenger, hangouts, Textra, Go SMS) and none are working. This leads me to believe this is a bigger issue. Is there anywhere that this feature might have been locked again, if that is even possible? Thanks for replying and all of your help. I appreciate it.

Helloo!
I tried to install your rim earlier and the flash kept failing. I'm going to try again when I get home. Couldn't figure out what I was doing and forgot what that Status 7 meant. All I remembered was that it wasn't good. I got it back to stock, no extra steps to get data and calls, but still no messages. No matter what app, apn, etc.
Edit: I've installed your Wicked Rom and it's beautiful!!!! Fresh, clean, and quick! There's one issue for me.........and I'm sure it's not your Rom, but I still can't send any SMS/MMS's. This is frustrating beyond almost any issue I have ever had with a phone.

Once again I was explaining the difference but yes there are certainly times where other varients Roms will work on different phones but has nothing to do with unlocked sims.. Just have to be careful and confirm it's ok first.. Sometimes need a custom kernel.. Usually phones that are really similar will work.. ie I'm on Canadian note4 but it's the Tmobile Roms that work (with kernel) or my old S3 it was AT&T Roms.. So may variables but nothing to do with unlocked or not

Thanks for the clarification. Let me ask you, could a kernel cause problems like this?
Also, I just saw in another thread that going to 5.1.1 would mess with voice, data, messaging possibly. But if this is what happened, why would this stay an issue after I changed Roms, but especially since I went all the way back to stock??? I know this is something that you may not be familiar with, just reaching and hoping that I can get some help with this issue. I'm banging my head against the wall trying to get text/mms back. !
[Solved]
Hey, I've solved the issue through a few steps. In the Phone Info menu (*#*#4636#*#*) I saw a bunch of things that I really didn't recognize. I Googled each one and eventually came to SMSC. When I hit update, I kept getting an error. When I hit refresh, it gave me "4", 129. After googling it and really updating it, I got my messaging back. I don't know, but it seems like going up to 5.1.1 really messed with some things for my phone. Thanks for your help everyone. I really appreciate it and I hope this may help out others who come across this same issue.

I don't know what language that is, but it looks like something about blocking a telephone number?
Ok so I have been seeing a bunch of stuff about the G930U firmware and I am trying to understand what the benefits of this firmware is. Also does everything work on this firmware, like volte, WiFi calling, HD calling video chat all the good stuff that the stock Verizon firmware has. Anyone who is on this firmware or has tried this please help me out here and one last thing is the Android Nougat beta test available for the 930U firmware
Thanks for the help in advance
Tony
Anybody have any information on this,,, please help out
Thanks
No carrier bloat ware. I'm on sprint, but you will lose any carrier specific apps. For example, our sprint app and sprint visual voice-mail do not work
Sent from my SM-G930U using XDA-Developers mobile app
That's not the only difference, there are subtle changes throughout the UI that I've noticed. I'm loving it so far.
Is there anyway to get any carrier apps to work like use My Verizon to pay my bill and also use WiFi calling and video chat do these things work or can they be made to work anyway
To my knowledge you can get those features, but you would need to root and edit the CSC file. I read that it worked for other people, but I have not tried it.
i have a g930v rooted with xposed, i just got all the firmwaRE FILES AP, CSC, BL etc.for g930U and flashed my phone and viola. oh i also used the vzw pit file, important part i presume. no problems so far. running fast, not heating up like it was. ill post if any problems arise. but so far so good.

His question is that, are you getting all the Verizon features with the U firmware. I know that you don't get them, as I have the G930U phone and they don't work.
Yes because I have a vzw sim, I still can use vzw features.

They mean like wifi calling, advanced calling my Verizon apps etc.
Wifi calling, my vzw, and all security and cloud features work.
That is still not true! I have the Verizon sim (you cannot have anything else!) and on my G930U those features don't exist.
Do I have to root my G930V device to put on G930U or can I just ODIN the G930U firmware onto the V firmware?

No root needed. The U firmware just needs to be the same bootloader or newer.

I recently flashed the G930U firmware and I am very happy with it. No carrier bloat. The battery life is much better and it does not get as hot.
The G930U firmware, unrooted, does have a setting to enable volte calling, but if it's working it's not quite as clear as the HD calling on VZW firmware.
The G93OU firmware, unrooted, does NOT support WiFi calling, Visual Voicemail, or HD video calling.
You can download My Verizon from Google Play and it will work just fine for data measurement/billing/support/whatever on the G930U.
I do not believe Nougat is available for the G930U firmware yet.
You do not need to root in order to flash G930U. You flash it via Odin.
From what I understand, you can root your phone after flashing the G930U using the same method as you would on the VZW firmware. If you root on G930U firmware you'll still end up with the same cruddy engineering kernel you would have if you were on the VZW firmware, so you'll still need to apply the "fix" files after rooting, but just use the one for generic firmwares. I'm not sure if root on G930U performs any better than on VZW firmware but my guess is it doesn't (and root performance on this phone is terrible).
I hope this helps clarify some things.
If jbevins9988 has actually figured a way to get wifi calling to work on the G93OU firmware without rooting it certainly would be nice if he'd share the details of how he enabled it.

7hrs 51minutes.
I was on the the phone almost the entire time (as you can see)
Was testing what I could get. If I had not have been on it the entire time it would have stretched and would have lost minimal screen on time.
This was also with terrible radio reception, at one bar.
That would have raised battery time aswell. Decently I would assume.
Hello everyone, has anyone had a problem with FIRMWARE (PDA) G950FXXU1AQK7 (CSC) G950FOXM1AQK7 ??? As for the sensors being frozen via test * # 0 * # (sensors) ?? Just as a form of curiosity, I own a Galaxy S8 (SM-G950FD) and this problem occurred after this update, a friend of mine owns a Galaxy S7 Edge and has the same sensor problems less the iris in case not have, of course , at first I thought it had been hardware, but I already suspected that the device with less than 15 days of use, without having taken any fall or something, I did not find any comment in any Brazilian forum, I am almost certain to be problems of software, I will download an older firmware and install it to try to fix this problem.

You could try wiping caches and a factory reset first . But make sure if you are on the u2 bootloader.Do not try to downgrade firmware with the u1 bootloader.

This is an example of a firmware not yours but one G950USQU1 Take notice to the U1 in it The newer Firmws have a U2 in this place and cannot be downgraded
You can look in about phone and software info for firmware version listed under biuld number or build info

just take a look at this topic I found here in XDA, has dozens of reports of similar problems, but a year ago. I continue to hope to solve this problem. Reading these reports I have more conviction that everything started after a security update! ¬¬ "
But do they work when u use the device? Like the screen turning off while u are calling someone, auto brightness, screen rotation...?

i would try to flash other or previous firmware with odin like others said
then i would send it back if you have warranty
and here are some thoughts
i didn't owned Dual Sim phones bevore but you said you have G950FD and your PDA is G950FXXU1AQK7
i think there is a ''D'' missing it should be something like this G950F(D)XXU1AQK7
I read on s7edge forums that single sim firmware can ba flashed on dual sim but i am nut sure if this still apply to s8
you can try to flash a Dual Sim specific firmware when you want maybe it helps
are you rooted or something??

I am now downloading the firmware G950FXXU1AQJ5 to test and see if it solves, I already left the device ready to receive it. Curious that I performed two restoration procedures nowadays but none solved this problem of freezing the sensors! I did the factory reset through the menu of the device and did the hard reset with the buttons volume up + bixby + power, cache cleaning and data factory, but without success = \. I'm hoping this older firmware will solve! Thanks for the tips and attention!

Almost positive I know what this is, I encountered it regularly when testing firmware and potential root methods. Several parts of your firmware must be at the same version or if they are not, this is the exact failure mode I would encounter.
Flashing a new entire firmware, and flashing every file (BL, AP, CP, CSC) and not skipping any parts. If things work after this was your problem
s8 sensors not working
Hi there, it looks like im facing this exact same problem on my exynos galaxy s8. I have been using this phone for 3 months, never dropped it, not even a single mark is present on my phone. This exact problem started on my phone when i restarted it and noticed that my iris scanner was not responding. And you can guess the rest. I tried everything i could from restarting to booting safe mode and clearing cache partition but no luck.
If you have found a way to fix this issue or a workaround please let(us) know.
Here are some screenshots from the support feedback and they acknowledge that is possibly a software issue.
The same problem in S8 SM-G950F - version TPA in the G950FXXU1AQL5 firmware

Got the same exact problem, new Phone never flashed and bum, no sensors working. The flash it, update it change firmware several times, and sometimes it worked for a while. After latest Android update it work for a couple of weeks and now again the same problem.
All sensors not working on Note 8
Hi All,
Have the same problem with my Note 8 Dual Sim as well. I have warranty on the phone, when i went to Samsung they said its a problem with the updates. This happened to me twice and got the phone replaced as well but last Friday it happened on the replacement phone as well with the Oreo update after about two weeks of functioning correctly.
If any of the developers can let me know if there is a work around for this please let me know.
Thanks in advance

Does anyone know if the TWRP (international) version works on this (Canada) version of the G6? What I would like to do is install TWRP and Lineage OS, however, neither TWRP or Lineage have a LG-H873 version of their downloads.
As far as Lineage OS is concerned, the G6 versions they have are for the EU and the US. TWRP only has an International version listed, whatever that is? International as far as the US is concerned, or South Korea?
The technical specifications for LG-H873 are identical to the LG-US997, however, does anyone have any further knowledge about any differences between the two models?
Hope someone can help. Thanks to those who try.
Your version of the G6 (Canadian) cannot officially have it's bootloader unlocked and subsequently (unfortunately) there are no options at all for you.. as far as installing TWRP, root or custom ROMS goes..
Clarify the LG-H873 Status and possible future please

I know there was no exploit for the lg-h873 bootloader unlock as of yet, but based on the above, is this saying that our handset is unlikely to ever be unlocked due to some technical reason? I am quite nervous when I see most posts about this are from last spring, and here we are 2018, with no sign of any work or progress or anything. Just the seemingly resigned line that it's not possible. Can someone clarify this? I just got this phone right before christmas, and I am freaking livid at finding this out. Anyone have any advice if this is a likely permanent problem on how to approach getting the handset switched or exchanged with the carrier or other due to this "gotcha" bullSh it?

Obviously, not meaning calling them up and saying "HEY, you blocked my hacking/rooting". In case that wasn't clear. I'm not above misrepresenting myself on THIS issue if the outcome is positive. Just returning the favor. By the way, the carrier is Telus if that matters
The bootloader is locked and that is final. Unless someone finds a massive exploit, there will be no root or ROM's for phones that have locked bootloader. I have the H873 on Koodo and it sucks but LG's stock rom is good enough.
I also have the Canadian variant and tbh I feel that (for me at least) rooting is not necessary.
Don't get me wrong, every other android phones that I owned were rooted and I loved it!
But with the G6, the stock ROM is not bad at all! The two main things I was "afraid" of at first were bloatware and ads (missing adaway) but you can debloat with the ADB method and I'm using blokada for blocking ads and I must say I'm very happy with this phone!
Other thing is, root means no android pay and that's something I'm planning to try very soon!
So no root is not as bad as I thought at first!

Thanks for this, I had no idea that this was the case. I'm going to guess that the locked bootloader must be the difference between the Canadian and US versions.

I'm using Android pay, no problems and it works very well. It's a shame that only a few Canadian banks are accepting it. However, you can put your Canadian Tire money card on it, along with Air Miles, Aeroplan and Scene rewards cards.

At the risk of sounding stupid or slow.....| The above is clear, but I was seeking clarification as to the status. As in, is the bootloader being locked something that is permanent? or reversible? Something that could be unlocked by LG if they so desired (like if they decided "hey, we should open the bootloader like we do for other countries) as some point). Not saying they ever would do so. But I was curious if this was the kind of thing where technical reasons or architecture made it impossible with the existing model. Or if LG could technically roll out a software patch that allowed it to unlock. Forgive me for sounding stupid here. I have been rooting every samsung phone and tablet I've come across going back to the s2 (roughly 7 devices). Each one of those, whatever the case or obstruction, eventually that root was available. So here is my very first LG device, and I'm so used to it being a given that access was possible...eventually, that I can't figure out why this fairly popular handset is basically a write off. Yes, no need to repeat, because the bootloader is locked. But of all the devices with root access possible, have none of them had locked bootloaders? Is there something structurally harder to get around with LG vs others? Please indulge me a little more detail as to why this is so unlikely. Thanks in advance

Yes, if LG wanted to, they could set up a system for you to unlock your bootloader, no update required, it's all done via their website.
You pop in your IMEI, and it's supposed to spit out your bootloader unlock code. This has only been done in a few countries.
There is going to be little development on this device though because it is NOT popular at all. Too expensive at launch, and price only came down when the S8 came out. Since it only has the 821, the type of enthusiast that would work on that type of unlock didn't even bother.
Even LG seems to have abandoned it already.

Now that my Fido lg g6 has been updated to Oreo there is oem unlock in dev options . What does that mean for me ? Does that mean that there is a chance for TWRP ? Could this lead to custom ROM ? If I swipe to OEM unlock now what would happen to my phone ?
If you can explain these to me I would very much appreciate it .?

Can you please explain or direct me to info on how to debloat using adb in LG G6? I have a LG G6 from Fido.
Yes . That would be nice to know , how to debloat using ADB
Also , how would I go about making UI as close as possible to stock Android ?
Found this on another xda thread (credit to AM Radio)
1. get latest LG Universal Mobile Drivers (currently v4.2.0)
http://www.lg.com/us/support/software-firmware-drivers
- click on "LG Mobile Drivers" and click on "Windows"
- right-click, run/install as Admin
2. grab latest ADB binary, link provided on XDA
https://www.xda-developers.com/googl...ary-downloads/
- extract the "platform-tools" folder
3. install Package Name Viewer 2.0 from the Playstore
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...om.csdroid.pkg
- probably lots of apps that do the same thing, but i grabbed this one first. allows you to inspect all User and System apps on your phone, and select the ones you want into a list, and then copy that list to Keep or a text file or whatever
4. turn on USB debugging on your G6
- go to Settings > About Phone > tap Build Number until you're a developer
- go up a menu level, click on Developer Options (which should now be just above Above Phone)
- find "USB debugging' and turn it on
5. get hooked up:
- connect your G6 to your PC via USB
- on G6, change the mode to "File transfer"
- back on Windows, open the "platform-tools" folder, shift+right-click somewhere in the folder, select "Open command window here"
- type command (without quotes): "adb devices"
- in the command window, you will see confirmation that the daemon is started, and the name of your device
- if you get a dialogue box on the G6 re: USB debugging, just click "ok"
- type command (without quotes): "adb shell"
- in the command window, you will now see the "lucye:/ $" prompt
6. time to get cooking
- at the prompt, type (without quotes):
"pm uninstall -k --user 0 [PackageNameOfTheAppYouWannaRemove]"
- example:
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.lge.bnr
- hit Enter, and kaboom: LG Mobile Switch is gone.
- repeat as necessary, referencing that handy list you prepared in Step 3

I agree the proximity sensor could be the likely culprit.
Could try a factory reset, or reflashing the firmware.
or even booting into safe mode, to see if an app is causing it.

I want to install Teamfight Tactics in my phone, buy it says it's incompatible. I want to at least try bypassing it and see if it works. I tried changing it to a Moto Z4, but it didn't work. Then I tried changing it to a Samsung Galaxy S9+ with the data I found somewhere in xda. This time, it wouldn't boot. I had to restore the system folder to what I had it before rooting, and I lost the root in the process. When I root it again, how should I change the device model?
I re rooted it now but I can't log in into my Google account, Google Play services keeps stopping.

First of all you should tell us how you changed your device fingerprint to a Moto Z4/S9+. Maybe the way would be to reverse this method. "With the data I found somewhere on XDA" is a bit vague.
Did you use the magisk module Magisk Hide Props Config?

I only changed two lines, ro.product.model and ro.product.manufacturer. For the Z4, I just changed the first one to Moto Z4, and for the S9+ I found a complete build.prop file in the forum and I changed my file to what it said there (only those two lines).
No, I didn't use that Magisk module. However, now the situation is kinda different, I made a new post about it. I have to solve that before even trying to do this again, so help there would be appreciated.
Moto g5 plus 4gb of ram
Hello, I have been looking everywhere to understand how I can tell *BEFORE* I purchase a moto g5 plus phone for the purposes of rooting if it is eligible for BL unlock.
I have been to the official moto website where it lists that G5 Plus "can" be unlocked but there are many different versions of the G5 Plus that cannot be unlocked. What do I need to look for to understand if the phone is eligible for unlock?
Does it have to be Exynos processor instead of Snapdragon? I saw that phones locked to Verizon and AT&T may not be unlockable but if I buy one from Ebay i'm looking for one that is not carrier locked.
I'm an IOS trying to change to a budget Android so this is all new to me unfortunately.
Thank you in advance!

Thank you , the retail software is new information I had not known. I looked on your post and saw that carrier locked and amazon devices cannot be unlocked. This I had known.
What i'm looking for which I cannot seem to find is if Snapdragon processors cannot be bootloader unlocked. Someone said they give problems but I cannot find this information anywhere. Every post just leaders to the bootloader unlocking support page on the official Moto website but that doesn't help me because apparently not all G5 plus models are alike and I cannot go through the process as I do not have the phone. I want to know if it can be unlocked BEFORE i purchase it.

Qualcomm Snapdragon or mediatek does not matter.
It depends on the software channel and carrier.
You need to ask the seller what software channel it's on, be cause that also affects which carrier it can be used on too.

All Moto G5+ models have the same Snapdragon processor.
I only know one type of device that can't be unlocked and that is the Amazon version with ads on lockscreen (not just sold by Amazon).

If the phone is carrier unlocked does that mean it is retail? I have only been looking at carrier unlocked devices.
TFT
I'm trying to play 'Teamfight Tatics' but I'm not getting past the loading screen. So I'm looking for the best game rom, considering that the stock rom is 32 bits is not an option.
