How to remove LauncherConfig in System/App - Moto Z Force Questions & Answers

How to remove LauncherConfig in System/App
I need to remove the Launcher Config file located in System/app. That folder is making the moto z defalt to a 4x4 and 4 icon dock. Using google now launcher and pixel launcher the only way to get 5x5 and 5 dock icons is to remove that file. The Force is not rootable so how do I remove the file?

Did you find it yet?

Did using the Debloater app work for this problem?

it did. But unfortunately Debloater doesn't work for some and it definitely doesn't work with Nougat.
LauncherConfig also doesn't show on the phone's system apps so it can't be disabled there. Nougat lets you "resize" the screen so that might counter the effects.

You can use Android Commander if you're not as adb syntax inclined as I am and use the nice GUI to just manually drag and copy these files across to /system/app folder or wherever the old apk files are located...

Don't mean to hijack but would you mind elaborating on how you can use Android Commander to install these apps? I have never used it before so I am not sure how it would replace ADB.
Thank you so much

Vanilla lockscreen?

I'm hoping someone can help. I would love a flashable zip of the vanilla lockscreen that works with the supervillain Rom, as its a quality Rom but I just really like the lockscreen. Anyone iniquities of one?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
You could use Widget Locker. It can look like the vanilla lock screen and much more.
DesirableHTC over on the supervillain rom thread pointed me to the program root manager. With that you can just delete the htclockscreen.apk and reboot. And there you have the lovely vanilla lockscreen. Thanks for your advice too, widgetlocker is a great app.

Actually, there's a solution for that.
Simply push the attached DeskClock.apk via adb to /system/app/ . With this you can set the alarms and switch them off. Don't forget to disable the alarms in the Clock App of Sense.
thank you for this. widget locker rules!!!

How to prevent "removing" app drawer (from Froyo 2.2 onwards)

A question for you. I have been looking everywhere but could not find a solution.
I am using firewall to filter calls and messages. Also I am using app protector pro to protect applications like settings, installer etc. The risk is, any one accessing to your phone can easily remove the apps (i.e App protector pro or Firewall etc..) from the app drawer (app drawer > menu > edit then touch the app to remove). Only 3rd party apps can be removed this way and not the system apps.
If there is a way to treat the 3rd party apps as system app then this accidental/mischief removal of apps can be stopped.
Is there anyone help in this..
Thanks in advance.
Hi guys,
Any thoughts in this issue.
Please help.... this may help many of the forum users..
Hey smohanv,
This will be my first post in this forum because I think I now have the knowledge to help others
So here it goes!
I used SGS Tools to remove some of my system apps.
Open SGS Tools > Cleanup System Apps and you can select which ones to delete.
It didn't took all system apps btw, I still had a few meaningless apps which I couldn't delete.
For these apps I used Root explorer to delete them manually. Be carefull tho, don't delete stuff you don't know.
Good luck.
Alright I now see my first post on this forum is a complete fail
You meant something else, treat the 3rd party apps as system apps so they won't get deleted.
Good question on which I don't know the answer yet but I did give you a bump hehe
Someone else has any suggestions?
Hi
Thanks for the response. The question is not about removing system app. The question is, how to prevent apps getting uninstalled by anyone seeing your phone. From the OS Froyo onwards, any app can be (except system app) removed just by invoking menu > remove by touching the icon.
If you have root you can copy the .apk of the app to /system/app.

Yes, as xxbeanxx said, if you have root, you can move the apps you want to protect into your /systems/ directory through ADB or through the Terminal app and that way it will not be available through the TouchWiz drawer delete option.

Thanks for the workaround. I have rooted phone. Can the apk file be moved to system/app folder using root explorer.
Thanks again. If it works through file explorer than using adb or terminal app many forum users can benefit.

Many thanks.

Hide / Rename Apps from App Drawer?

Hi Guys,
There are certain apps that I would like to hide from the App Drawer in my Tab since my friends are literally all over the tab and snooping around in my messages or photos or even password protection apps. Could you tell me of any possibility of Hiding apps from the App drawer or probably RENAMING them to a less catchy title?
Your help is much appreciated,
cheers!
There's only two ways of doing this.....
1. Route your phone and then using a Root Explorer rename the App.
2. Use an alternative Home App.
If you use Launcher Pro one of the options it has is to hide Apps from the App Drawer.
You would have to go back through the menu to un-hide them but it might work for you.
Launcher Pro
Menu>Preferences>General>Hide Apps
Btw, you have ****ty friends...

Beards,
Thanks for the reply. Now, i have rooted my tab and currently on Roto JMI v2. I have installed root explorer. Could you please guide me how to change the name from within ROOT EXPLORER. I mean, the directory / path of the apps? I tried myself but no luck
Cheers & Much Appreciated!
You should be able to simply mount the system/app folder and rename the App in question.
Can you confirm you have done a reboot.
If so Root Explorer should work as normal.

I have done a reboot, and can see various files in the root explorer along with the option to mount. But I am unable to see the apps that I have installed from the market. For example : Catch Notes is one app I installed but can't locate it in root explorer so that I can rename or modify it.
Cheers!

Sorry but if the App is not showing in a search you must have a problem with your rooting or the file manager.
Installed Apps would show in System/App
Easy work around if they aren't super tech savvy. Get launcherpro and hide the apps in question

Go locker

The go loker only work if we installed go launcher ....is there any way to use go locker without go launcher..???
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda premium
That would require some smali editing after decompiling the apk, actually a LOT of smali editing, which isn't really easy.
Code:
System.out.println("Sent from my SGY");

Try this. Create a flash package with all these things:
1.Go locker.apk
2.Libs from go launcher and go locker in one folder
Flash it and see if it works
First install go launcher and go locker. Then active go locker and then uninstall go launcher. Then see , Go locker will work without go launcher... coz I'm using go locker without go launcher....
Ops, but it works only for some times

Libs?? There are libs in an apk file?? I never saw 'em when i decompiled an apk or even when I was creating an app. An APK file consists of only icons, java source codes (or smali in case of decompiled), and XML files. Atleast, that's all I know!

Dude then you have a long way to go . Not all apk's have /lib folder but some of em have it. For example download go launcher ex and make a backup of its apk. Look inside that apk using a zip archiver.
