Newbie here. Apologies if this has been asked before, but I'm currently sitting on the 7.1.1 beta, rooted, with TWRP installed, and I'm wondering what the best way to downgrade back to 7.0 is. I understand that I won't keep my root, and will most likely have to wipe all my data, but that's not a problem for me, as everything is backed up and I can easily root again. Is the best way to just opt out of the beta, or will I need to manually flash back to 7.0?
I would flash back to stock seeing as how you are rooted/TWRP. You will also need to opt out of the beta program or you will continue to get notifications to update to 7.1.1

I have decided to try official nougat on my Moto G4 Plus. I am currently on custom Rom MM but when got the phone I installed TWRP and Super su and made a backup using twrp and full flashfire backup. If I install Nougat after going back to stock can I downgrade to MM when I want and maybe using the flashfire backup? Will I be able to relock the bootloader after going to nougat?
Once you go nougat, there's no going back as far as your bootloader is concerned. You can get back on MM via fast boot (there's a guide to do this in the guides section), but you don't want to flash a MM GPT or bootloader image after upgrading to nougat or you may hard brick it. I wouldn't risk flashing a MM flashfire backup after upgrading to nougat, personally. You'll want to do it manually with adb to make sure nothing gets funky. My advice would be to check out the several threads in the guides section to make sure you understand what you need to do to get back on marshmallow should you decide to revert.
Hey guys, so I'm still pretty new at this whole android modding stuff (but I do have some background knowledge). I managed to unlock the bootloader, install TWRP, and root B29. However, now I wanna upgrade up to Nougat and eventually to the newest firmware available (either B19 or B25, not sure which one yet because I've heard quite a bit about B25's lack of fastboot). Anyways, I have no idea how to get there while still retaining my custom recovery and root. I tried using Flashfire, however, since MiFavor auto-installs after it finishes downloading the OTA, I can't stop it fast enough to launch Flashfire and install it through that. Could anyone point me in the right direction (or show me a guide) that would help me get to the newest firmware? Thanks!
P.S: This is slightly unrelated, but I was wondering, would I have to flash a custom bootloader+modem if I choose to flash a stock update through TWRP? I heard that if you choose to upgrade to a newer generation of android (i.e: Marshmallow to Nougat) through a custom recovery, that you'd have to flash an updated version of the bootloader+modem as well, but the thing is I'm planning on staying on MiFavor, so I'm not sure if it'd be necessary.

I need help updating my software update. I tried rooting my phone and it was on the latest update. When i rooted my phone and tried doing a custom rom it didn't work and i wiped everything to factory reset and i also downgraded from 7.1.1 to 6.0.1. I made sure that i wasn't rooted or anything like that and i gave up on trying to install a custom rom and now i want to update back to the latest. When i try and download it it says that the system package doesn't match and it says System 8 error. I also tried downloading it thru my sd card with the android recovery and that didn't work as well. Should i factory reset my phone? Will that work with updating to 7.1.1. I just want to go back to stock android on my Axon 7. Anyone that sees this please help me i would really appreciate it
Thank you
I've rooted my phone a few months ago but want to re-enable stock recovery to be able to install OTA updates. I'm running Nougat 7.0
Can someone help me out please?

First question... When first installing TWRP, did you do a full backup? You should have backed up, then had to repeat specific steps to install TWRP to make it permanent.

Umm I wouldn't worry about updates they are not coming anymore. I'm not a 100% sure but I believe you can flash the stock recovery. img. and uninstall root. Worse case reflash nougat.
Hello,
So I got the PH1 and I must say I'm head over heels for the phone!!! I had a few custom roms downloaded and ready to go for when I picked it up...but decided to run stock Pie (bl unlock, TWRP, magisk installed) my question is this, as Pie is fairly new and I imagine it will receive Alot of updates, is it possible to flash these OTAs via TWRP? I understand most if the time I need to flash stick recovery back to take OTAs and I don't mind making a /data backup to preserve my settings, but I'm hoping this is not the case? Is there a more simplified way of taking pie OTAs on this phone? I'm asking cuz it's telling me there is a new OTA available( 9.0.0 build ppr1.180905.036) as of 9/18/18 and I obvs want to install it!!! Any guides available that someone can point me to would be swell!!!
Thanks
Ok so I'm dumb, I should have searched a bit first, and I also should have clarified....I really don't need TWRP for anything, I didn't know you could have magisk without TWRP, but can you restore a /data backup without it?
