setup viper4android with ressurection remix ROM - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

EDIT: I have verified supersu and busybox are installed and functioning as expected so looks like viper4android is the culprit.
ORIGINAL POST
Could someone who has installed viper4android on resurrection ROM in the past tell me what the steps are?
I have tried installing permissive mode, enforcing mode and using supersu for root instead but all have given error: driver failed to install: busybox not found.... yadadada.. you get the point.
thanks!

Same problem brother. RR 5.8.2
Viper4android 2.5.0.5

Why aren't you using A.R.I.S.E sound systems? It is viper4arise and is a lot better sound quality than viper4android.

ViPER4ANDROID not working properly on MOTO G4 PLUS.

I have rooted the device, and currently using Nougat RR ROM. But ViperDD is not working properly on device. Busybox also installed, the driver status shows Abnormal. Any Solution for it.
Uninstall Viper driver, reboot and then go to /system/vendor/etc and rename audio_effects.conf as audio_effects.conf.bak, go back to Viper app and try to install the driver or just check the driver status, should work with that

I would also check that your kernel is set to permissive, not enforcing. Heard that causes problems as well.
Also, you might like to install SuperSU from XDA rather than using the inbuilt CM root, as it appears to resolve the Abnormal error you're seeing. (credit: https://plus.google.com/communities/104675617308252943432)
The stable SuperSU is herehttps://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/stable-2016-09-01supersu-v2-78-release-t3452703. I've installed the TWRP version of SuperSU on my XT1642 Plus on RR 5.8.0 24/01/2017 build (after making a backup in TWRP) and flashed Viper4Arise (i think it's based on Viper4Android), which works well

The Arise Sound System zip flash works much better:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/and...earch-t3379709
But they leave out the critical step of modifying the arise_customize.prop file and placing it in internal storage
BEFORE you flash (SMH).

If you use Magisk, ViPER4Android works flawlessly on nougat ROMs using the ViPER4Android for Magisk v14 module found within the downloads section of Magisk Manager, just install and reboot, nothing more required.

Working ViperFX with Stock Nougat & Magisk?

Does anyone have Viper Fx working since taking the OTA? I have the module installed from the Magisk repo, but cannot get it to process. Any wisdom would be appreciated.
XT1575
Magisk 14.2
ViperFx repo mod 2.5.0.4
Busybox
Try This . It's work for me on CrDroid 3.7. Maybe on stock nougat will work too.

I tried and failed to get this installed previously with Magisk 14.2. I get an install error.
I am going to go back to SuperSU and flash the Viper zip file through recovery.
Did you uninstall previus v4a?
Uninstall, reboot and:
Use v4a+udbr from this post.
...but I haven't stock. @Irieone

Yes to all of the above. Can't get it working with SuperSU either. There are a few hacks that involve deleting one or both of the audio_effects file too that failed. Tried disabling default Android Effect system app. SELinux set to permissive and busybox installed. Getting the drivers installed is not a problem. Processing is a no go. I have the same issue with my Xperia Z4 tablet. Its maddening.
I don't remember, but if I was using v4a on stock 6.x, it was 2.4, no adds:

Supersu, Busybox with installed symlinks. @Irieone
I was using A.R.I.S.E Magnum Opus on my Stock Nougat withouth issues. No magisk module required. Give it a try.

[GUIDE] How to install ARISE sound on 8.0 Magisk

UPDATE 1-07-18, This guide is now OUTDATED, for android 8.1, please reference this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl/how-to/guide-ultimate-audio-battery-guide-t3727124#post75100735
Install ARISE on android 8.0 oreo passing safetynet
I am not responsible if you break or damage your device in any wayHi XDA, this is how to install ARISE on google pixel/XL using Magisk
Safetynet is passed on this installation, V4A drivers are working
Prerequisites:
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767141554"]Arise aroma installer
Magisk v14 or greater
Arise magisk compatibility module
SE linux permissive Magisk module
Steps
Root your device using Magisk using HOMEBOY76's Guide step 9
Open Magisk Manager and install osm0sis's Busybox. It should be in the downloads repo
Reboot
Go into TWRP
Install the SE Linux permissive module zip (installing Magisk modules works on TWRP)
Install ARISE aroma (install any audio mods you want V4A 2.5.0.5 is recommended) (ICE sound breaks Android O's speakers, so skip all of the ICE sound profiles)
Make sure you skip the SE Linux permissive script, remove Deep audio buffer and repair SDCARD permissions
Install the ARISE Magisk module zip
Reboot and enjoy a better sound quality
I want to thank TopJohnWu, Jamesoolee, HOMEBOY76, the ARISE team, Jman420, Zack, and Ghost for making this possible
Great! Can confirm. V4a working with magisk! Had to install the permissive script through magisk. In twrp gave me error mounting system.

Thanks for this. Do you know if the Magisk permissive script passes safety net?
If not, can it be toggled easily?
Thanks!

Yes. Safety net checker shows green. So it should work (i don't use it).

Does this install still require you to delete apps from system/app in order to get to at least 400mb of free space?

Before installation i deleted some apps with filemanager in twrp (gmail, chrome, hangout, talkback) to get more system space. Then i followed exactly the steps of kingbri. Must say i only installed minimum of arise mod (core and deep buffer remove, nothing else). Before installation i dirty flashed stock image and deinstalled supersu.

Before i had supersu. That is why i deinstalled supersu before installing magisk.... With supersu v4a was only working in full permissive mode.... Thought maybe you took the same way...

Nice!
Tried above steps - It has cleared previous version of V4A (which did not work since I upgraded to Oreo) - Now I have instead version 2.5.0.5 (codename beautiful) despite installing your 2.5.0.4 zip, and unfortunately no driver installed.
I get a pop-up message to "install/update the V4A driver" and option to update automatically - when I select "yes", the driver installation fails & "I/O error, please reboot & try again" - I rebooted & tried again several times - same problem continues.

Problem With Viper4Android FX

Hi, I am using Viper4android Fx for Magisk (created by ShadySquirrel) on Xiaomi Mi A1 which was rooted systemlessly by Magisk "patched_boot.img" method. I have installed Magisk SELinux permissive script and Busybox through Magisk Manager. Now whenever I am installing V4A Magisk module, it works for some time and then it stops working with a pop up like "Update/install driver". But when I am trying to update or install the driver, it fails with an I/O error. Reboot doesn't solve the problem. I read on Xda that SELinux permissive script needs to be enabled and storage permission needs to be given to V4A. I have both active. But still, the problem persists. If I uninstall V4A module and reinstall it, then it works, but for a few days. Then the problem starts again. Is there any workaround?
Note that, I have stock android 8.0.0 with no custom recovery and no custom kernel.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-viper4android-fx-2-5-0-5-t3577058
I'm not using viper actually, I stay with Dolby on Oreo with my a1.
But I guess you will find working viper and answers on the link.
I guess I have the same problem here. When I try to install Viper4Android or Viper4Arise modules, phone starts crashing with "Dirac Control Services Stopped Working" showing up every few seconds. I really love Viper and I don't want to move from Stock ROM or install any kernel. Any clue on that?
Maybe Try selinux switcher and viper4android by viper520, zhuhang and others (i Click Three Times Volume Up)
