Root files for t-mobile s7 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Guides, News, & Discuss

*Edited. I uploaded which factory firmware worked for me on a t-mobile s7 as of 10/30/2016 to dropbox if anyone needs it.
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/bjz0du5b6kyt3g7/AADETkXwGhpRMSQoI2bmrupBa?dl=0
These are what worked for me. Included is a link to the factory firmware if you screw something up.
Turn on developer options/Usb debugging. After installing your Samsung USB drivers http://stockroms.net/file/Drivers/Samsung/SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe , plug it in. Click allow on your phone.
Put it in download mode. Open odin, click AP and choose the .tar file. Click start.
After reboot unlock the phone and open fastboot folder. Double click root.
After reboot, transfer busybox.apk or download busybox. When setting up busybox, make sure to install it to /system/xbin. Not /su/xbin.
Something goes wrong, use the same odin to flash the firmware you download from the included link. I would have included the files but their 2.1 gb.
Again, this is just what worked for me.
What follows rooting is your choice.

this kind of rooting method cause lag on the phone?? because i rooted a g935t time ago and it was impossible to use because the constant lags in the interface

After you root it it automatically sets your governor as performance. It needs to be made interactive before you do anything.
This is what I did to fix the lag.

Yes sir.
If you want you can follow this steps for a completely free lag phone.
1. After flashing the eng kernel, go to PlayStore and Download Kernel Adiutor and set Gov to Interactive on both the Big and Little.
2. Download Flashfire and flash Echoed Rom.
I'm using this on my T-Mobile Vatiant.

i am getting a boot loop at the tmobile logo accompanied by vibrating seemingly randomly. the only answer seems to be to flash the stock file you provide. I wonder why its not working for me. thanks for your efforts either way, clear and simple.

it was because the phone updated to the pki or whatever released on 11/5/2016. I used all your files in odin at once to downgrade, then was able to proceed perfectly. thanks again

Thanks for the files. It's a shame though this device has been secured as much as it has with little development. I've always had phones with full root, customization, and control. With the root methods so far, I mean it works but there's just too many cons and I've tried everything to get performance back post root. Went back to stock in the mean time.

Is this the best and only way to Root the Tmobile variant of the S7?

What exactly is "fastboot"? I understand the process up to that point, but after that I'm at a loss.

(Soft) Bricked Samsung Galaxy S5 Verizon

"Root my phone" she says, "It will be great" she says...That is what my girlfriend asked me but now I have her phone bricked and can't get it running again. Have rooted multiple android devices before but this one has stumped me. Tried to get old 4.4.4 OS on it using Odin and now I cannot get any OS on it. Even the original stock OS I cannot get loaded on, which I would happily take.
Things you should know:
-Samsung Galaxy S5 Verizon edition
-Using Odin v 3.10.06
-Using md5 and .tar SM-G900V
-Phone can go into Recovery/Download Mode
-Odin sees phone and recognizes it, but when trying to load on OS it gives error failed.
Ask me for any other info, I would be happy to get it rooted, not rooted, custom ROM, just anything to get it running again.
Thank you very much.

lol no worries. To me, it seems like the phone was on OG5 (latest) or the one before that, which disables going BACK to an older build to be able to root...Are you using ODIN properly (sorry, I have to ask)
ALL files I've flashed go in the AP slot...so try downloading the top file of the two (seeing as it prob. isnt rootable anyway) http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/g900vvru2bog5-factoryodintarimage-t3179527
download, unzip if needed, and try flashing that in the AP slot when in ODIN...see what that does..

Yeah if the error message pops up I'm pretty sure it's one of the 2 new updates...it kills root and backwards flashing

OK. Thank you very much!
I happily did exactly what TUTRider did, from trying to root, to bricking, then using roadblock's 6.0.1 files to unbrick, but I'm still getting stuck on the Galaxy splash screen. Odin 3.09 gave the load a PASS, and I 100% had 6.0.1 on it before trying to root. Is there something I could be doing horribly wrong, I'm fairly new to Android rooting, though I have a lot of experience with iOS jailbreaking.

If you're trying to root, you have to be on Lollipop. Can't root MM, but it IS possible to get on a pre-rooted ROM.
Go back to Lollipop, and follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/root-method-og5-ok3-t3290370
Once you're on Lollipop and rooted, if you can get your bootloader unlocked, then you can upgrade to a pre-rooted 6.0.1 ROM.
Go here to see if you can unlock. (Some phones can, some can't. Cross your fingers!) Read the "Warnings" section carefully, and look to see if your cid # starts with 15.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...t/rd-unlocking-galaxys-s5-bootloader-t3337909
If you can unlock, follow the instructions on that page carefully to do it, and then follow these instructions for going to 6.0.1 on unlocked bootloader:

Yes. We would need to know which 5.0/LP you were on. Such as 0A8, OC4, OD5, etc...as the person posted before me. You cannotODIN back to KK(4 4.2/4.4.4) if you were on OE1 and above...if you know exactly what version you were on, I'd suggest you grab that tar and odin. Best of luck bud and let us know the Version you were on before you attemptedto root.

[FULL RESTORE] MM PCA STOCK odin flashable pulled from Samfirm tool

Moved from the android dev section to general section as suggested by @malbert16442 This should not trip knox but Im guessing most people who are viewing this already have anyway . Simply Download on your PC, put your device into download mode (power off phone and hold volume down, home button and power button and let go when you see the download mode icon) and place the file in the AP slot in Odin.

For MM, you have to use a different method called systemless root. I did it a while ago and there is a written out tutorial over on the "sprint gs5 android 6.0" thread in this forum. Just use the search tool there and search "systemless root."
Decisions, decisions - - use this to 'upgrade stock' from my rooted stock deox and have phone totally reset ...or wait for deox stock MM PCA and see if it will take without reset ...
hmmm
Was all hot to upgrade the 2 yo phone , but nothing compelling..nothing faster with qi charging, radio, ir blaster , sd-card slot, water proof , and definetley nothing with removable battery. S7 is the closest and it is locked down ..so sad.

Has anyone tried flashing this using flashfire, injecting root, and flashing the stock partitions via Odin with success? Wile my phone is beyond the warranty period, I have not tripped knox yet and would like to keep it that way if possible. I was able to have completely stock rooted OK4 with this method.
Just to be clear -- will applying this tar via Odin do the full update of MM bootloader, kernel, modem (if applicable), etc etc?

Yup! So you will be able to flash custom roms like @malbert16442 s7 port without any issues (well when he releases V3 as he a group of people beta testing it right now and according to @philiptibbs who is among them V3 works fully with sprint. And on 2.5 everything works but sending sms (recieving sms and sending/recieving mms work fine though, not sure why thats the case.)

You need to download Odin, then download one of the recent firmwares like PD8 etc. Put your phone in download mode, hook it to your computer, open Odin, click AP then pick the firmware file you downloaded and hit start.
You should have Odin from when you rooted and you can find the firmware file on the forum here. Just search for PD8 or PG1.
You soft bricked your device. no big deal Samsung makes it fairly easy to fix. Download Smart Switch to your computer and use the Emergency Software Recovery/ initialization process to recover your device. You will have to re initialize your device and you will lose everything on your internal storage but your phone will be fine.
Again the root method discovered uses an ENG boot and is not meant for every day use it is not true root and will always cause more issues than it is worth.

Found L14 Honor 8 B320 Update... What do I do now?

So, I found the OTA update packages for the FRD-L14 to B320 (and B317)
I really wanted to update... but I'm not sure how.
I'm rooted, with TWRP and SuperSU installed, and it all works ok.
I didn't want to do any hard methods, scared of bricking it. Updating the OTA over SD card isn't working (can't even find the setting)
So what to do?
They are only OTA updates, not Full, so I can't just use dload method to load them up.
I would prefer to keep root, but if I have to reflash to stock, and then re-root, I can do that.
Any other methods I can use? Can anyone with a bit more knowledge help me out?
And of course, more than happy to share the OTA files, one is approximately 3gb (B317) and the other is about 300mb (B320)
Thanks
Unroot phone and flash stock recovery
Will that work? I tried doing that but the updater didn't find the update in the SD card. It told me there were no updates available.

Do you use L14C567B320 68368, or others? Could you post the links of HW and update.zip to me?

Currently, there is no way to re root and install twrp. there is a post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/twrp-nougat-edition-t3504140
It shows how to install twrp on 7.0 and root. Not work for me, so i give up this part, just enjoy the original Emui 5

Hmm, it seems to have worked for me, but I seem to be running into some issues. It might have failed for me too.
I HAVE to replace some of these default apps. Some of them are truly awful, not to mention I have to uninstall some.

Root for J5 (2017 model - J530F)

Having searched with no luck so far, has anyone got a working root for the SM-J530F yet?
Thanks in advance.

This device is very new, so you should wait for people to start work on it. If you have any knowledge, start by making a custom recovery or similar

I am just trying to compile twrp for the J530f. Any help is appreciated aß groß is the first Recovery I am trying to build. Gathering Information about the boardconfig.md or where to get a proper binary. I am usimg the one from samsung openSource - http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=J530f - atm. However the version number is not exactly the same as my device's.
My Current config contains true for the values I already have looked up and informatio where I have found them.
I now have verified all uncommented flags.
Commented Flags still not verified.
Added TWRP Flags from https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943625
Edit: Updated BoardConfig.mk

Created a recovery.fstab. Should be correct . Could not find the usb block.
i'm going to trying this
https://www.halabtech.com/root-j530f-7-0/
edit: odin binary error. someone can correct it?
edit2: ROOT OK!!! just rename the file from md5 to tar. but there's a little problem: is necessary to wipe data before made it. after the root, softwares update don't work.

Was The root successful? Works the root with no Problems?
The root works. The correct procedure is: wipe data from recovery. Don't boot the Phone and go directly into download mode. Root the phone
