Im currently running handcent as my default messenger app. When i receive a message i get a window pop-up notification in the main screen, how do i stop this from happening? Ive disabled the verizon messenger app and stopped notivications on the LG app. I dont see an option to turn this off or on anywhere.

I'm using ChompSMS on my Sprint EVO and love it, but after I answer my text message, the notification stays in the task bar until I pull down the task/notification bar and "clear it". I'm running froyo and when in my standard factory messages app, press "menu" but there's no "settings." When using my standard factory message app, after I view and/or answer a message, the notification in the task bar goes away. But with ChompSMS, it doesn't, thus requiring me to remove it manually (I'm also running call notification so it beeps at me every two minutes until I clear it manually). Any way to stop messages from appearing in the notification bar? Or is that mandatory for my "call notification" to work? Any way to make chompsms clear the notification after viewing and/or answering the text?
Go to the stock message app and uncheck received notification. Use chomp settings for your notifications.
I use Handcent for messenging like many people do, and have turned off the notifications in the stock messenging app to avoid getting double text message notifications.
Every thing has been peachy for the past month, until just today, I noticed when I get text messages, the notification from Handcent AND Stock show in my bar. I thought that I might of changed the settings on the stock, so I checked but notifications were set to OFF in the settings.
I rebooted the phone, and tried receiving a text again. Still the default messenger app notification shows, then handcent for each text. I even went and uninstalled the damn stock MMS.apk to get rid of the double popup!
Now, when i receive text messages BOTH notification still pop up, and if you press the stock messenger notification, it doesn't do anything. -___-;;;
Thought it was a problem with Handcents most recent update this morning, so i re-installed the older version from a few weeks ago. STILL getting double notifications!
Anyone else have this problem?
Running Stock verizon LG G2, when I receive a text via hangouts app and I get to the lock screen I'll notice the hangouts notification in the notification bar and right away it disappears before I can drag down the bar to see what the message was.
Any ideas?

Click to collapse
I get this too...maybe 50% of the time with hangouts
Text messaging with Hangouts is cumbersome and annoying, I just went back to stock Messaging app.
But this is probably a Hangouts bug, yeah.
Yep - me too.
I have this problem too - but I also had the problem when using Textra. Maybe there is something about the G2 that's preventing the typical SMS notification from working properly. I guess I'll try the stock messaging app for a bit and see if that works properly.
LG g2 stock 4.4.2 kot49i.vs98024a
not rooted, bootloader locked.
got 2 new G2 phones, one has the problem the other is on 4.2.2 and does not.
when i get notifications, some apps keep the notification in the notification tray, like they should. however many apps do not, eg sms, whatsapp, gmail...
i completely miss out on the notification, nothing appears. some apps have popup screens like whatsapp and the stock sms app, but if i close the popup window there is no notification remaining behind.
ive checked all the settings and cannot get notifications to appear.
help please.
so i encountered this issue recently on my phone. basically i dont see the number of meesages notification on my messaging. i get notifications on the status bar but i cant see how many unread messages i have unless i go into messaging. i tried force stopping and clearing data/cache, another thing i will try to do later is switch to a third party messaging app and then switch back to see if that made a difference.
