Chomp/SMS Notification won't dismiss. False.

I had chompSMS installed but after a short while I would recieve a notification saying I had a new message, from the default app even if I didnt have a new message present. The notification would take me to the default messaging app, with no new messages. I uninstalled chomp, but it's still happening. I have notifications currently disabled in the default messaging applicaion.
Using Cyanogen's latest ROM from NexusOne.
Hello out there? Anyone know whats going on?

[Q] evo kill message notification in task bar

I'm using ChompSMS on my Sprint EVO and love it, but after I answer my text message, the notification stays in the task bar until I pull down the task/notification bar and "clear it". I'm running froyo and when in my standard factory messages app, press "menu" but there's no "settings." When using my standard factory message app, after I view and/or answer a message, the notification in the task bar goes away. But with ChompSMS, it doesn't, thus requiring me to remove it manually (I'm also running call notification so it beeps at me every two minutes until I clear it manually). Any way to stop messages from appearing in the notification bar? Or is that mandatory for my "call notification" to work? Any way to make chompsms clear the notification after viewing and/or answering the text?
Go to the stock message app and uncheck received notification. Use chomp settings for your notifications.

Messenging Bug/Error??

I use Handcent for messenging like many people do, and have turned off the notifications in the stock messenging app to avoid getting double text message notifications.
Every thing has been peachy for the past month, until just today, I noticed when I get text messages, the notification from Handcent AND Stock show in my bar. I thought that I might of changed the settings on the stock, so I checked but notifications were set to OFF in the settings.
I rebooted the phone, and tried receiving a text again. Still the default messenger app notification shows, then handcent for each text. I even went and uninstalled the damn stock MMS.apk to get rid of the double popup!
Now, when i receive text messages BOTH notification still pop up, and if you press the stock messenger notification, it doesn't do anything. -___-;;;
Thought it was a problem with Handcents most recent update this morning, so i re-installed the older version from a few weeks ago. STILL getting double notifications!
Anyone else have this problem?

[Q] SMS text in notication bar

Hi guys, hope you can help!
Basically the embarrassing situation has occurred a few times now when I'm showing my friends some features of the DHD a personal text comes in which was meant for my eyes only, however the first two lines of it are displayed in the notification bar when it arrives.
Surely there's a way to stop this from happening!?
Cheers!

If you're using HTC stock messaging app then there is no way to stop it. A solution would be to use messaging apps from the market like Handcent SMS and the likes. It will give you the ability to pop the notification but does not show the content.
I've just had a friend ask me this as well. Wanting just a notification sound and icon rather than disclosing the sender or the message body on the lock screen or in the notification bar.
I've got a DHD and don't mind if people see what i'm receiving, even to the degree that i've installed an app called ChompSMS which brings up a window on the homescreen displaying the full message.
I had a fiddle with the ChompSMS settings and it seems that you can increase the privacy settings to make it anonymise the notification, however as soon as you unlock the phone it will still show the full text in a window - I only fiddled a little bit, but couldn't find a way of disabling this without losing other features.
I uninstalled ChompSMS (for the purposes of this experiment) and had a look round at the generic (HTC) messaging settings and it seems like it's all or nothing, as soon as you turn off the 'received notification' option it greys out the options below it, meaning that you get no notification whatsoever when someone messages you (except for the green circle on the messaging widget - if you have this on your homepage).
I'm going to try installing Handcent (another popular messaging app) to see if I can make it do exactly what my friend wants done. I'll message back if I manage it.
Mike.

Dismissing Notifications

When I get app notifications for things like text messages or emails, entering the app directly and opening the corresponding message does not dismiss the notifications from the notification center. Is this normal behavior? I thought Lollipop did, but I could be mistaken. I either have to swipe the notification off, or click it to open the app to dismiss it.
I noticed the same, found it irritating and I got way to many notifications from all sorts of stuff, App's and OS. Eventually I disabled all notifications. The phone already makes a sound so i don't need any visuals.
I am getting the same issue, any fix/ workaround to get rid of the notifications?
In my case this seems to depend on the application. Whatsapp does this annoying thing, while Gmail and Inbox do not. I think that most apps are not yet updated properly for Marshmallow support.
