Hi,
I have a corporate Gmail account that sync to phone, but when i search for contacts, the corporate directory doesn't show up. In my note 7 and S6, you would search for a name and it would search both the phone and the corporate directory. Did LG forget this?

Hello- new to android, coming from a hd2
here is my set up:
I have a .mac account for my personal account.
I have gmail only for google voice.
I also am linked to facebook.
I use the phone mostly for work with ms exchange. I dont like the interface that samsung/2.1 offers so I am testing touchdown. So far so good.
issues/questions
I have both Touchdown and the android exchange set up so I can compare the differences. Not sure if this is recommended or not? also not sure if I should disable one or not??
1) contacts- when I am using dialer to call someone it - goes to the work fax # as default not the cell or even office #. How do I change the order for all contacts at once? I can do it individually but have 400 contacts. It doesnt give me an option to see all the #'s to chose from like in windows. Does this have something to do with the way it synced with ms exchange server's contacts?
Very annoying! any work arounds? any better way to quickly call or return a call? I typically use dialer and start dialing the persons name.
2) personal email- when I set up my .mac account it made a folder called personal email on my homescreen (great!) i mistakenly dragged it to the trash. Now when I add the email program to the Homescreen, when I open it gives mes 2 options. I want to get back my own personal email folder- any options?
3) I only use gmail to read my voicemails using google voice. Is there a way I can sync my ms exchange contacts (phone contacts) to the gmail cloud so I have them in multiple places?
Thanks in advance!
M
3. Export your contacts from Outlook (into CSV) and import them into GMAIL (Google has instructions on how to do it)
trying to help my mom who got a focus. i have android and a noob with wp7...any guidance greatly appreciated.
1. Email Account and their respective address books
Dad set his yahoo and pop emails up on her phone as well but none of his saved email address book seems to be there.
When sending and email and clicking TO: to choose from address book none of his contacts are there.....is it possible to have your address book for the email account available without having all the contacts populated to the PEOPLE hub (they don't want).
2. Windows live Account. Mom setup a windows live account for the primary and had no contacts in it as it was a new account. All of her contacts that she wanted to be in the People Hub came from her sim card.
Can my dads Live account be added as a secondary in a manner that will not cause all of his windows live contacts to populate her People Hub contacts on the phone?
I had the same issue. I decided to go to each of the sites on my computer and export all the information I wanted. I then went to my live account and imported all the info I wanted. Now, I use Live for all my contacts, calendar, and my main Gmail account for all my email needs. Since Live is the Main account, when I email from Gmail, I also get my Live contacts to show.
I also set up Live in Outlook on my PC, so my contacts and calendar sync automatically.
I've done a lot of searching here and other places on the net, and haven't found a solid answer.
I've attempted to sync my hotmail/live contacts via exchange. I notice though, that the only fields available for my hotmail contacts, are things like first and last name. no phone number, email or any other information besides names. even when I try to add a contact, the only way to add things like number, email address, physical address is by syncing it with my Google account.
I don't use Google for much of anything. all my contacts and email are served through hotmail/live services.
How do I go about adding and syncing contacts with my hotmail/live exchange accounts?
thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me.

Click to collapse
HMMM, not sure what to tell you but mine sync up just fine...
Try going to accounts and sync and erasing the data and then the email address, reboot the phone, and then add the address again...
just a suggestion though.... not a problem with android though because it works just fine for me....
you could also try going through the "email" client and setting up your email there instead of through "accounts and sync"
lemme clarify a bit.
I am able to sync my contacts, but if I want to edit or even add a new contact to my hotmail-exchange account, I can only add (in this order:
Name prefix
First Name
Middle Name
Last Name
Name suffiX
Phonetic given name
Phonetic middle name
Phonetic family name
there are no options available for e-mail, phone, address or any other fields that are normally available for a contact.
When I open the contact to view it though it will show me the information stored in hotmail/live information, but I CANNOT edit it. If I try to, I get the screen described above.....
So in order for me to have an updated address book, I have to add/edit contacts from the google account I have (which I don't use for anything, except to download from Market or whatever)
Are you able to add a new contact and save it to your contact book in hotmail/live?
I have tried things like removing my hotmail and live accounts and then readding them.
I think the difference between your account and mine is that you are syncing yours through your google account where as I am not... to be clear, I am not syncing my emails nor contacts nor calendar through my gmail account. I only have my hotmail account set up on the phone to sync. Except for on the phone, the two accounts don't know the other exists. IF you are syncing your hotmail contacts through your gmail account, then you are tied to the fields provided by your google account.
TO answer your question, yes, I can make any modification the phone allows to my hotmail contact and it is reflected in my hotmail account.
I just wanted to say thanks for the insight....
I had to unlink everything that was syncing, and then resynced accounts, starting with my Hotmail/live accounts....all fixed now.
thanks again.

Lemme get this straight. The issue is present only if two contact syncing services are enabled?
I tried. Setting Hotmail as the very first contact sync service and adding Google account without contacts sync does't work around the issue.
Hi all,
I use Outlook to maintain my contacts and calendar (mainly due to limitations using a standard Google account and app).
On my Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G on Sprint (SPH-D710), my contacts are in an account named 'Phone' and my calendar events are stored in an account named 'My calendar'.
I then sync these 2 account types to Outlook on my PC, using either 'Dejaoffice' or 'My Phone Explorer Client'. I presently use MPE because of the feature set.
I also managed to get these 2 accounts on my Asus TF300T by using Asus' PC Suite which can sync Outlook to the tablet.
I don't think or know if the Nexus 7 will be recognized by the Asus PC Suite. I need to test it out. But I doubt it.
So now the question for all of you.
Is there a way of copying those data files from the phone over to the Nexus 7 and if so where are those files located.
I haven't rooted yet but plan to do so as soon as I can watch the tutorial video that I downloaded.
If I can't copy those data files or accounts, is there a way to create an account that is not associated with an email account.
Seems that is the only option you are given in settings, 'to add an account'?
Thanks for all your help and input.
Rob
PS I should tell you the main reason that stops me from using the normal Google account (which of course I do have) as my primary account.
It seems with the contacts account, there are one or two fields missing.
However, the calendar account on Google, there is no way to make an appointment with a contact that does not have an email address.
I make a ton of doctor appointments and most of my doctors don't have or supply email address.
I also want the formatting of an appointment event to contain the name of the person in the event name field (the first field you enter) and I want the address of contact to be placed in the location field of the calendar event.
And before all of you say I can do that already, I'm not interested in typing it myself.
Using Outlook allows me to do all I want with a simple right click on a contact name.
For those of you young enough to remember the Palm Treo, using PalmOS, it had that feature and was even easier than Outlook's way.
So is there a way to this using Google's calendar or contacts app?
Double thanks, since I actually presented you with 2 main questions.

Not sure if this is a lollipop issue, or if I just did not notice it in kit-kat, but, I went to create a contact on my phone the other day, and I always save them to my google account. When I saved the contact, It did not show up on the google web site as I expected it to. So I started to trouble shoot, and found the contact was saved to my phone. OK I did a factory reset on my phone shortly after the OTA upgrade, at which point i forgot to set my google account as the default to save contacts. Upon going to the contacts settings, under accounts, there is no google option. If i hit add I get Facebook, Exchange, or LDAP, no google option. If I got to the phone settings, goto accounts, google, and click my google account, there is no option to Synd Contacts, just sync people data??? Also if I go to my contacts app, create a new contact and change were it saves to, I only have Phone and Exchange Active Sync as options. What happen to saving to Google, am i missing something?? Anythoughts ??
