Need help with odin and firmware - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

So they other night i tried rooting my gs7 edge AT&T version.. Found a tutorial online and flashed a file via odin. And upon rebooting ended up freezing on the AT&T boot logo. which seemed to a common problem after reading the comments. The only way was to do a factory reset which i did and got the phone working again. But now the phone is extremely sluggish it lags doing the simplest tasks. Now i want to start over and flash the stock firmware via odin but not sure what files to flash something about pi2 and the BL. Can some one point out to me what is the latest firmware i should be installing. Just trying to go back to stock here.

You still have the eng kernel installed. Go to the AT&T forum for the S7 and you will see what others have done.

[Q] AT&T Wipe, flash stock? Still root?

EDIT: FULL STORY BELOW. SKIP TO SECOND REPLY FOR UPDATE!
900A, AT&T, WAS 4.4.4. I rooted my phone with towelroot by downgrading via ODIN then reflashing 4.4.4. I've had the phone for a year and wanted to experiment with some custom roms--specifically Twi5ted Lollipop. The version I found last night was V3. Anyways I followed the instructions of installing safestrap then attempting to create a partition to host the mod. Every time I tried to boot the partition I would wait 12 minutes with nothing but a black screen (I presume a bootloop.) After reading some posts here I found it requires a clean flash--not a dirty flash. So I used safestrap to backup, then I wiped it and installed the mod. Nothing--still black screen. I then attempted to restore the backup I saved--fails every time.
At this point being the noob I am, I started to get very concerned. I went into advanced wipe and for some reason selected 'system' and wiped it. After a reboot, it shows the Samsung logo, goes blank, vibrates then goes back to the Samsung logo. I went into the standard bootloader and attempted to restore to factory settings but there is nothing to restore of course cause I wiped everything.
I'm currently at work bored as heck cause my phone is wiped. I can still go into download mode thankfully. Should I have no problems flashing stock via ODIN when I get home on my lunch break? Which stock firmware should I flash for this phone?
Thanks!
Unfortunately my lunch break brought me no good news. I downloaded stock found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2714455
After I flashed all the files (Except BL) when it boots, it get's to the Samsung logo--freezes halfway through then goes blank with the blue LED light on. I waited 10 minutes just to see what it does with no luck.
Another thing I found was weird-why when I boot does it still say 'Custom' when I flashed the stock firmware?
I really hope I don't have to drop $650 on a new phone Any help would be incredibly appreciated. Thanks guys!

why didn't you also flash the bootloader?

AT&T bootloader is locked right? Regardless I tried flashing the bootloader as a last resort and ODIN failed. Figured it just confirmed what everyone else said that it's locked.
Is there a specific way I need to flash the files? Like one at a time?
Do I need to restore factory settings/delete cache THEN flash each? or vice versa?
Am I basically screwed since I have AT&T?
:crying::crying::crying::crying:
FIXED!
After flashing 4.4.2 several times and trying different things, I came across this thread which finally brought my phone back to life. Thanks XDA!!!

S4 ODIN Failure com.android.phone crashes

So when this phone was on stock fng2 firmware long ago when it was current firmware. I sent it off to a guy who was offering very cheap unlock. used it fine since then. but wanted to put stock rom on it and make it completely Samsung official with no problems. so it is ready for selling. but when I get the latest firmware which is ok3 and flash with odin. after booting in those crashes start happening about 2 times per second. phone is useless. I made it to settings menu and looked at baseband and software version both show unknown so I flash stock ok3 modem still samething. then I try these full firmware images:I flash od2, same thing oh1, same thing, factory reset doesn't do a thing on the rom with issues. then I try fng2 it works perfect. then I use use od2 oh1 ok3 update.zip to get ti to latest version and it works perfect. modems upgrade and work fine. but when on latest version I reset phone from the settings menu to factory default same issue after phone as booted. so currently phone is useless if it is ever resetted. so no selling. any solutions.
the issue seems to reside with the modem. probably guy messed up a lot of settings in service mode?
You name it I have tried it most likely
any ideas anyone?
anyway to reset nvram to factory default.
i have reseted it in service mode. were it says a golden backup exists. that didnt solve anything
I've tried many many things but nothing seems to work for that issue. Only way I've gotten around it is by doing a dirty flash of kitkat with odin.

Unable to flash stock firmware

Hello, my SM-G935A is rooted, and I have 2 issues with it. Firstly, I'm unable to receive texts or phone calls (I can send them), and I've tried a factory reset and I even got a new SIM, but nothing worked. I think if I flash stock firmware, it might fix the issue. Second problem, when I go into download mode and select my AP in Odin and press start, my phone gets an error and Odin freezes at Initialization.
Any help would be appreciated. I would prefer to fix the texting issue, as I don't want to return the phone to ATT. In either case, the Odin issue needs to be fixed
I'm having a similar issue. This afternoon, 2 apps threw errors and closed. I rebooted, which apparently was the wrong thing to do. The reboot stalled on the AT&T logo and stayed that way for 5 min - the unit became very hot & the power button did not respond, even while holding it down. I got into recovery, cleared the cache and factory reset, then rebooted. The unit came back up and started reinstalling everything. I took it back down into the download status and attempted to reload 935x via Odin, only to stall at "initialzation" [sic] as you did. I got out of that after waiting for some sort of response. SuperSU was still in my apps as was Root Checker. Root Checker indicates the system is rooted. SuperSU indicates it needs the binary updated. BusyBox and TiBu indicate they cannot find root. I deleted all the root apps and tried reinstalling root via adb which completed successfully, but the same outcome with all the root apps. So I'm not sure if I'm still really rooted as Root Checker claims, or not.
EDIT: I just saw that I have 2 "Knox Settings" apps. Clicking on either returns, "Unfortunately, Container Agent2 has stopped."
use the odin from the stock firmware thread to flash it again. if it fails you can flash the u firmware and then the stock again. then you have to use a different odin if you want to flash the root api file the one you flash the firmware with wont work. also there is help in one of the threads about fixing the volte problem so you dont have to turn it off to get calls. i didnt have to do it as using the odin i mentioned fixed it for me when i came from the u firmware.

I was having the exact same problem you had with Odin. It seemed I was able to flash stock firmware using this version of Odin: http://www.mediafire.com/download/2t2sjqxtogbkafk/odin_3.12.3.rar

did you have any problems with the u version of the s7 edge firmware, like the fingerprint scanner not responding? i am on that version and cant get any odin version or any version of s7 edge g935a firmware to flash, tried unrooting and was forced to use the U version of the s7 edge firmware, everything works except the fingerprint scanner, cant get back to full stock firmware, need help!
im having the exact same problem, when i put my phone into download mode and flash the stock at&t firmware, Odin get stuck in "initialization" and my phone screen displays and error message.
Same stuff was happening to me, I went back to stock and took the update. When your phone stops working as an actual phone, it's time to roll it back.
I played with it for a week and my phone was so freaking hot (with hot weather) equals a wait and see if this gets more stable in the near future. I did use the Odin 3.12.3 mentioned by King James III. Honestly, I did so many things to get it back to stock I forget what actually worked (it was the wee hours of the morning and I was spent). Don't give up guys, it will and can work.
edit: It may be as simple as not right clicking Odin and running it as Administrator.

I used Odin_v3.12.3_Patched_SHA256 to flash the 935U Firmware then used Odin3_v3.11.2 to flash the June Firmware release.

Unrooting help

I rooted earlier and I wanted to unroot but i'm on firmware g935aucs4apk1 and I can't find a download for it anywhere, and none of the other firmwares i've tried to flash have done much either. Would flashing the latest g935u unroot my device or just break it? Does anyone know where to find a firmware download for g935aucs4apk1? Thanks.
Im in the same boat. Did you find the firmware?

Do the G935U, works great.
Did you flash 935u FW??
God, it took forever and so many different attempts, but I finally got it. For the OP and anyone else in the same situation, you should use the G935AUCS4API2 firmware to return to stock. The firmware and details on what to do can be found HERE, but the gist of it is to download the BL/AP/CP/CSC then use Odin 3.12.3. Afterwards, just update back to APK1 and everything will be as it was.
I was on firmware G935AUCS4APK1 too and rooting turned the phone into a complete mess. Lag, endless forced close on numerous apps (including Google Play), and the additional fun of the phone randomly being bricked after restarting. All for a root that didn't even fully worked.

Soft-bricked AT&T S7 Edge trying to unroot / go back to stock

I'd attempted (and succeeded) in rooting the s7 Edge without much of a problem, it seemed to be working fine. I was considering flashing a custom ROM as well, but before I could get to that point the phone started behaving oddly. It would refuse to boot, freezing at the AT&T logo screen and vibrating in a 1-3 pattern (1 vibration, then pause, then 3, etc., ad nauseum). I realised I still had ADB access at that point in boot (somehow, I have no idea) and used it to reboot to bootloader and see what I could do with Odin.
ALL VERSIONS of Odin I have tried (3.12, 3.12.3, PrinceComsy variants of both) have failed to restore the stock image and unroot the device. I have attempted to use multiple different stock images I've found around these forums and elsewhere, and all attempts have resulted in either the phone throwing an error about the Odin version I'm using, or Odin itself telling me that the flash failed and the phone indicating some strange message about the boot or the firmware being 'fused' or something. Exact error is SW REV CHECK FAIL : [system]Fused 3 > Binary 1
All I appear to have accomplished is preventing the device from ever booting properly -- it refuses to boot normally, and by default enters Recovery mode (the stock recovery, which is essentially useless and won't do anything at all). I would very much appreciate some help getting this device off the ground again; I'm sure we can figure something out together! As I type this, I am attempting yet another version of the stock firmware I've dug up, so... fingers crossed that gets some better results. If not... please help. Currently trying the APK1 version of the stock firmware.
Cheers,

You have to use either the stock version of the firmware that your phone was on or newer. You can't use any older versions. APK1 is the latest version i believe. Use the official Odin. The .12 version and you should be good.

Thankyou. It took me longer than it really should to figure out which firmware version to load. Downloading that now... fingers crossed, heh.
Do you think it's worth attempting to re-root and install a modified ROM on it for the performance tweaks that I've seen cropping up here and there? Or should I just count it lucky it's still mostly salvageable?

Depends on what you want. Personally i would root it and go to the Verizon forum and download Stang5.0litre rom. That's an awesome rom. I'd stay away from echoe rom, seems like the devs are hit or miss on support. The dev for the stang rom is awesome and very active. I ran both of then and prefer stange.

Woah, woah, what? You can flash a rom based on another carrier? Will it still work? O.O

Yea it works. I know that one does. You'll get a message that says "unauthorized SIM card: or something like that. Just ignore it and use WiFi to setup the phone. Once you have it setup use package disabler or titanium to freeze "setup wizard" and that'll get rid of that notification. You'll have to manually setup your AT&T APN. After that your golden.
