Why moto x play not supporting cardboard app
Do you mean cardboard design lab?
Sadly, no gyroscope, no cardboard and vr

From light reading; the Moto X low-power consumption features require atleast a Snapdragon 800, or an X8 Chip. The Moto G has a Snapdragon 400 chipset.
If the Moto G hardware proves to lack this capability, here are some software solutions.
Touchless Controls:
Open Mic+ for Google Now (Play Store) (Blog) [XDA]
Active Notifications:
NiLS Notifications Lock Screen (Play Store) [XDA]
DynamicNotifications (Play Store) [XDA]
Active Notify (Play Store) [XDA]
KnockĀ² V2 // Notifications (Play Store)
Moto X Camera / Quick Capture:
Moto X Camera / Gallery apk [XDA]
Twisty Launcher (Play Store)
I was gonna ask about the touchless control...so it is actually possible, right?
The Moto G is no better than other phones in this respect however

Thanks for the apps!
It would be awesome to have touch less control in favor to Moto X.
I'm using Dynamic Notifications on my N5 32GB, and it seems to work quite well, even without an AMOLED screen. My battery life doesn't seem to be impacted much. I'm curious to how it will work on the Moto G.
I was thinking to try cardboard on motor now.
People who don't know about google cardboard project
Visithttps://www.google.com/get/cardboard/
Before trying I was thinking if someone of you has already tried it, if yes can you tell which one, from where you bought and share your experiences
Cardboard requires a gyro sensor to function properly, which the Moto E does not have. (1st gen Moto G 3G is also missing a gyro and also cannot be used with Cardboard.)

Moto E has a gyro senser, every Android phone has it. How else would you use auto rotate on your phone or play any racing game.
Moto E has accelerometer, not gyroscope There's a difference between the two. The games you mentioned worked with accelerometer and not gyroscope.

Thanks, I didn't know that.
That's a bummer, the Moto X Play doesn't have a gyroscope, nor does it have a pressure sensor (barometer). Those two sensors are usually included in the lowest priced phone. I guess, it will mean no PhotoSphere and CardBoard for us.

I can live without Barometer as I can check the data of my location using internet and apps. But the lack of gyro sensor is a big NO for me. I was down for this phone and I overlooked Snap 615 because of the monster battery. It's a shame that you wouldn't be able to click photospheres with this awesome sony 21mp sensor. There was a tweet from motorola that gyro could be there in hardware but it may be disabled. So we will really know for sure after Moto X play teardown. If this has gyro then it can be enabled with some coding. Moto X style on the other hand has IR sensors, gyro etc. But Moto X style battery is not gonna be great. Looks like I might have to wait 1 more year to upgrade my phone.

You can still use cardboard, but not able to rotate the screen with the phone.
I mostly use the cardboard for movies and computer games, I don't miss or notice the lack of gyro.

No there is no option for google cardboard installation on google play for this phone
I just returned my Homido VR box back to the store.Tried it with my old moto g 4g (gyroscope) and with the moto x play and it totally sucked. You can only play some simple demo games with the graphics of a playstation 1.The most anoying thing is that you will spend most of the time putting your phone in and out of VR box to control simple things. Most apps dont support a controller yet and are frustrating to use. I realized i dont mis anything with VR on android and decided to wait a few years.
Hello
I have a little question about Moto X style. I will buy this phone soon, but i need gyroscope for cardoard VR. Can you check for me whether it has gyro and if it works well with google cardboard apps?
Thank you in advance.
Moto X works fine with Cardboard, it has a InvenSense ICM20645 Gyroscope sensor.
I'm looking for a VR headset, and I want to know whether the Samsung Gear VR headset is compatible with Moto G4 Plus or not. Kindly help me.
Yes Moto G4 is VR capable. Any phone a gyroscope is VR capable.
For running a VR app, all that a phone must have is a gyroscope. It is something that helps a phone to judge rotations.
Moto G4 comes with a gyro. The resolution is 1080p which is decent. The screen is decent too, but the pixel density is scant. Just 401 pixels per inch. For VR I would say anything above 450 ppi is okay, the more the better.
