I prefer Google stock apps over Samsung apps. I'm on the latest stock Lollipop for the Sprint Galaxy S4 and rooted. I've tried 3-different apk files and none will install. I've tried copying them to /system/priv-apps and setting permissions to 644. 2 don't even show up, and 1 that shows up force closes immediately. Anyone know of one that works, or a way to make one work?
I would prefer to stay on stock ROM.

Hey i just got my Nexus 7 a couple days ago and successfully rooted it at 4.2.1 stock android.
Ive installed only a couple of apps and everything seems to be working. Then one day i decided
to try Beats Audio Installer Pro for Root v1.2. I installed it successfully. After loading my equalizer in
the stock google play, it loaded many equaliser bars than the stock 5 and then i tried changing them to test it. Nothing changed
even when i toggled it on or off. Then i decided to uninstall it. It reboots and loads normally.
Now when i clicked on my equalizer settign in the stock google play, it says: 'MusicFX has stopped'.
I tried factory reset and got nothing. At stock rooted, its still comes up with 'MusicFX has stopped'.
Even tried installing other equalisers on the market and they all stop working since im sure
the stock MusicFX process is needed for them to work. I have nothing else to try.
Help would be nice or i might return the device back to stock unrooted and check for warranty or something.
Thanks.
Obviously reinstalling stock will fix it. Because I am also having same problem but i don't wanna install stock again just for equilizer because my previous settings for musicfx seems to be working till now. If you get solution without installing stock again then plz do tell me. I am also waiting here eagerly.
Still no luck. MusicFX is still not working on my phone but but but I installed ROCKET MUSIC PLAYER, It comes with own equilizer and it's working fine whereas equilizers of other music apps are not working.

Using root browser you can copy audio configuration in other rooted nexus7 and paste in your your system/etc and also copy soundFX and paste in your system/ lib soundfx folder and change the permission to rw.r.r and reboot your device..but remember u need to delete all the files inserted by beats..you find it in your system/lib,system/etc,and system/bin.
sorry about the wait
I had totally forgot about this thread since i left my tablet for a long time.
How i fixed it was just returning it to the original rom. It was the new rom indeed and beats not being compatible with my nexus 7. It seems Beats trys to take over musix fx and stops it from working. I just tried other roms instead without beats and everything was fine. Seems beats doesn't work some some devices.
Anyway atm, my nexus 7 is dead and posted prior to this one.
Hi there,
After noticing that the SamsungIME Portrait type keyboards were gone from 4.3 MJ5 I was wondering how I was going to go back to the 4.2.2 keyboard as it was the main one I used. Downgrading to an earlier rom isn't an option because of the new bootloader, so then I was thinking I could simply download the 4.2.2 SamsungIME apk and install it by rooting the phone and copy it into the SYSTEM/APPS folder, change the permissions and reboot after clearing the cache/dalvik cache. All of the versions of SamsungIME I can find either cause the system to crash ("We're sorry but the Samsung keyboard has stopped working" message). My questions, if anybody could help me, are
1) Does anybody have a step by step guide to changing the Samsung keyboard? Is it just a case of putting the apk files in the Apps folder and changing the permissions, clearing cache and rebooting? I've also tried using CWM zip files to load but these fail also.
2) Are Samsung keyboards rom specific i.e. will an MH8 keyboard work in the standard MJ5 rooted rom, or are they also not downgradeable?
3) Would anybody be able to provide me apk and odex file for the 4.2.2 i9505 MH8 Samsung keyboard (if it's useable in the MJ5 rooted rom).
4) This is a long shot, but is there a rooted/custom rom in existence that I can load to my MJ5 S4 that includes the 4.2.2 keyboard and so, still offers the Portrait Keyboard Types?
I would be really grateful for help with this.
Many Thanks
Philip
Hello everyone.
I locked some files back when I was not rooted and on stock rom, then I rooted by phone using a resurrection remix.
Since I am not on LG framework anymore, I can't use LG Gallery app as far as I know.
It lets me install directly or through adb, but I still can't get it to work.
I even tried installing it as a system app, but still no luck.
Does anyone know how to use LG stock apps without lg framework?
Have you tried to use APK Editor from the playstore? There are threads on how it works, but you're basically opening the APK with the app, hitting a "manifest" then saving, then installing without actually editing anything. For most of the stock apps it works, esp Gallery and Music. Let me know if you have trouble getting it to work--I'm not familiar with that ROM, but I'll try to help.
Wish I could help but Google Photos and FOTO are the best gallery apps anyway imo
Is it safe to flash GAPPS (arm64 - 7.0 - stock) on Stock Rooted Galaxy S8 via TWRP?
yes it is safe
yes it is possible i have renovate ice rom 7.1 with gapps arm64 stock and it works flawless. as my intention it replaces all the samsung stock apps with google and you get the fully pixel launcher, you may want to delete some stock system apps that stay on the phone with system app uninstaller (root) if you wanna know more you can contact me.

Nice, which one did you install?
I think i used open-gapps, the one with the aroma installer that lets you select stuff. I wouldn't say "flawless" but it does work. Even if you only select some apps it sets things up for all of them and so your logs get spammed for days about missing receivers and broadcast crap. I should try again but with nano gapps or something
I used the usual .zip gapps and everything works fine as it should but only the dailer app doesn't work with me. It says it needs phine permission but I can't give it because the app doesn't ask. And I can't give it that permission in the settings, but the rest no problems I uninstalled all Samsung stock apps and replaced them with gapps.

Stock dialer works fine, you just grant the permissions it needs from settings.

Yea i tried but it doesnt work for me
I have a rooted moto g5 plus with stock rom. I have installed a number of dialer and contact apps and set them as default but all incoming calls still use the system phone. What am I missing? Please advise. Thanks.
are you using google dialer? and do you have dialer frameworks and maybe check by going to settings>apps>that gear icon there and changing defaults
Install gapps it'll automatically install pixel like phone framework. Or install rom with 7.1.2 nougat rom.
Can I install gapps over a stock rom? I have tried using many of the custom roms but had issues with the camera and with cell connection. I fastbooted back to stock, rooted the phone and those issues are gone. Not sure why, it is my girlfriend phone and I don't think she cares anyway. She would like a better dialer with bigger icons and that is the reason for this post. Thanks.
