I bought my Galaxy Note on Nov. 27. It sucks that I already have problems with the USB. This is the first time I bought an unlocked cellphone and I think it will be the last. The sting of having a problem with a new tech. and not knowing how to fix it is not worth for me I think.
What are your experiences in early adopting to tech.?
I just got mine yesterday. Hope nothing mess up. How you mess up the usb port?

So where is the difference with a locked or an unlocked model ?
If you have a problem you will have to send it in for warranty either way.

Don't know to be honest.
From what I've been reading on the internet, the USB dock connector on Samsung phones/tablets seems to have more problems than usual.
I'm reading similar stories on Samsung devices:
phone/tablet not detected when plugged to the PC
phone think it's charging when it's not plugged in
device charging when only turned off
USB storage doesn't work

From what I gathered, unlocked means you're device can be used with any compatible carrier/service provider. Locked phones are usually supplied by the carrier/service provider and can only be used with that carrier/service provider. Hope this helps.
I'm not really sure about warranty. I'm from Canada and the Galaxy Note has been announced but not yet released. I called Samsung Canada today and they don't support it yet.
My question to Galaxy Note owners in North America: How have you dealt with problems related to devices not yet released in your country?

That's not what he was referring to. Whether you buy a locked or unlocked model, your hardware is the same. So your chances of having a problem with a locked model are the same as an unlocked one

I've been an early adopter for both the Note and S2 and neither devices have the issue you're describing
Also if you're charging the device through the USB port and the device is using up more juice than the 500mA, then it will not charge quick enough to replenish the battery.
I don't know about AT&T. But with T-Mobile, if I had a problem with my phone, I could just drive over to a T-Mobile store, tell them my issue, and they'll swap it out or give me a nice loaner phone while they send it in for repairs. They make it really easy.
If you buy an unlocked phone, it seems like there would be a lot more hassle having to deal with the manufacture directly.
Though my friend had to deal with HTC and he said they were extremely awesome, cross-shipped him a replacement, paid for postage both ways, etc. Not sure how awesome Samsung is.

I bought mine from Expansys, they said if something happen, send it to them and they will take care of the warranty. I think they send it out to Europe for repair.
Bought mine early and not one single issue. Not sure why others have so many issues. Same with my evo and evo3d, many had issues and I had none. Lucky I guess
From the giant: Galaxy Note
Bummer. I have had and or have three Samsung phones and have not had any issues with the usb.
Do you use the OEM cable? I only use Samsung OEM chargers and cables for my phones. I know they are standardized, but I worry about other brands not fitting as well. I have like 6 sets. They are like $3.50 on Amazon. I would contact Samsung in your country to see if they will help you. Although they are not required to, they may help you anyway. It is worth a try!

of course it is

I gave back mine.
the biggest problems for me:
speed, ram, heat, design flaws.
Speed....
This screen needs a processor with twice the speed of the Exynos 4xxx.
The S II is so popular because it can take everything you give it and show it to you at minimum 50 frames per second.... 50-60 frames per second is optimum for the human eye. Let us call it S II fluid awesomeness.
The Note has to move much more pixels, so it has half the speed of the SII, particularly on graphically intensive stuff (not invented by me, benchmarks prove it). So we get 25 frames per second...
25 frames is like a TV.... the minimum acceptable... when the Note has a problem to keep up this overclocked speed it goes below 25 fps and it becomes unacceptable for people coming from the SII like me.
The Note deserved a better processor, but I guess this privilege is reserved to the SIII. And Samsung probably thought 25 frames per second is good enough for tv so people will be fine with it. But we are talking about a high end phone here and we now want SII fluid awesomeness on a high end phone. Ok, not we... I want SII fluid awesomeness on a Note.
Our madame moderator will hate this but I write it anyway...
The Note Lte is 1/3 (33%) slower then the N7000.... so it goes below 25 frames and sometimes even touches 9 frames per second on very intensive graphics.
Imagine.... and I complain about the N7000...
Does it mean it is terrible? No.... it is ok....
But also the Acer Liquid Metal is ok.... if you are satisfied with stuff that is "ok"... and it costs just 150$.
Ram...
This screen needs more ram then 1 GB. It is unacceptable that I take the latest flagship and have to use tricks used with crappy low ram phones (launcher, freezing etc) because the screen and the stylus support eat up so much ram.
heat...
This is the same processor of the SII.... the normal speed is 1.2 ghz... they are overclocking it... what happens when you overclock? heat... too much heat... also the screen seems to generate too much heat.
What happens when the heat reaches an unacceptable level.... the phone slows down... to protect itself... and all this heat is uncomfortable for me.... 50+ C
design flaws....
Samsung has become careless or is overworked by creating so many different devices. They are overstretching themselves, maybe...
Fact is, the camera is not protected... every idiot notices it... why?
They tried to fix it with the free flip cover that is different and protects the camera... but the flip cover itself is a failed product... everybody loves it but it simply falls apart. This is quality?
Samsung you can do this with one of your many Galaxy Ace, W, Y, M, R.... but not with a flagship that costs like a Iphone 4s.
The back cover.... makes strange sounds... at least mine...
The screen.... a mess of production problems with a lot of unsatisfied customers and we need a developer like supercurio to fix the flawed color reproduction.... the lockscreen when in black is obscene... come on....
The USB cable... not even this they can do right.... who had the idea to make it glossy and slippery so that I do not manage to pull it out?
Does a glossy cable look cool... yes... does it work... NO!
The most important problems for me are Speed and Ram...
And I know there are a mountain of new products coming.... with quad core... 5 times faster gpu... these will be good enough to power this beast of a screen.
I have posted some info today on some of the devices that are coming but also this got deleted by some very kind Moderator....
I just say N8000 N8010 N8013.... look it up...
And the SIII is coming... with Exynos 5xxx... dual core with 2 ghz...
Twice the speed of cpu and 5 times the speed of gpu...
Who knows when it is coming because they have so much in the pipeline that is not yet globally distributed... so i suspect they are holding back new stuff to not ruin the marketing of the older stuff that is getting sold just now in some markets.
A lot of minor versions of old stuff gets out too so it is a mess to sell old stuff, sub-versions of old stuff and local versions of all the stuff... canadian versions, multiple US versions, multiple qualities of chinese versions...
How you sell all the old stuff if you come out with SIII? This is their problem...
And a lot more is coming.... look back at how much came out in 2011... there is no reason to expect less in 2012.... I hope they do something about production quality... at least for the flagship devices.
For the moment.... the best phone on the Android market still is a product that came out one year ago and that is still popular like nothing else.
People want it and with all devices going down in price, the S II went up in price.
You can now buy a Atrix, Galaxy R, Evo 3D or LG Optimus 3D for around 250 euros. The SII is still there at 430...

Yeah I agree with most of this^^, the product releases are too close and they show off everything early and make consumers wait for a long time (that the next big thing is right around the corner).
On the topic of early adopting, I once bought the latest and greatest for my gaming PC around 2007-2008 (can't remember to be honest; cost me $3500). I'm still happy with it and typing this on that machine right now. Back then, I bought it for PC gaming but now I just use it for consuming media and not so GPU instensive games. Going to try and push it for 2 more years with Windows 8.

This is beyond crap....the processor and GPU are more than fine for N7000(Galaxy Nexus does fine with a 1.2ghz ARM Cortex-A9(same as N7000) and a lower end GPU), it just happens that Samsung sucks at making software for taking advantage of their hardware properly. If proper GPU acceleration would be present(Like it should be in ICS), this thing would fly out of the gate(It actually does in the CM9 Alpha rom, even though that thing has hardly any GPU acceleration).

Perhaps you would be more enlightened/discouraged by reading about the exact same issue with the S6 HERE
In both cases, these are both devices running "bragging" ROM versions for MWC and also running a synthetic benchmark that is often derided as "non-representative" of reality.
Either way, I wouldn't be tempted to draw any conclusions yet. Early adopters pay over the odds in financial and ROM stability/performance terms.
odd move basing your buying decision on a phone thats being used constantly pre released and being charged at the same dam time smh
And all this is based on the fact that some would-be tech journalist from Romania tried to do some benchmark tests on a phone with non-final software on it and that has been on the charger for two-three days continuously, with its screen lit up most of the time and that has been played with by hundreds of people ... Let's be patient a little and wait for a test when the whole package is actually finished and shipped out for real reviews.

Couldn't make sense of your point as there was no punctuation...I have tired head now.
Even if so, samsung would be the last company I turn my head to if I leave HTC (after apple that is, but goes without saying)
I thought this was a joke. The same post is in the Galaxy S6 forum.
Anywoot, simple solution to overheating. Custom kernel and undervolting.
watched this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eqez7e5JTcU running benchmarks side by side and no overheating warning popped up on either phone.
Overheating on a demo phone that probably has the screen on for hours on end and is tethered into a charger...yeah that makes sense
Yes indeed.. Antutu already alarms when your phone is at 58C... Screen and charger always on, a lot of people play with it and run benchmarks.. not so strange it's going to be around 60C and antutu gives a warning..
Even the S6 will do exactly the same in that situation. I've had it also with my Note 3, when on charger
Not a big fan of Samsung's take on Android (TW) and I know benchmark results are not always reflective of real world performance. However, these results look pretty darn good for the S6 devices. Seems like some good optimization work has gone into these devices. S6 is pushing a lot more pixels.. don't know how the tests are affected by that.

Optimization... On Samsung! Pufffth. It was evident in previous cases that the Note 3 had cheated on bench marks. I'm not saying HTC hasn't cheated either, but just something to realize that benchmarks aren't everything and can be easily fabricated with some from of performance setting (i.e. higher clocks or performance governor).
My insights below. Maybe biased in the eyes of Samsung
After owning both the One M7 and S5 - I had a better experience on the m7 and the screen on the Samsung is very thin that it broke after I dropped it on the ground. I personally see a lot of people with broken digitizer's on the bus and this is probably why. In my case, my next phone will either be a Sony or a HTC. If you guys are wondering if warranty protects against this, it doesn't unless the phone's digitizer doesn't respond at all that means I'm not covered by warranty at all. Something to realize when buying any from of warranty.
that is inevitable, cortex A57 is a big and hot core
First, I'll tell you a story. So, a year ago my old Sony Xperia U broke, it refused to boot and had a broken screen. My dad told me and my brother to get in the car because we're going to get us new phones. When we arrived to the nearest T-Mobile center me and my brother went on to search for a new phone and my brother liked the Z3 and I thought that the S6 was better. So, I decided that I want sn S6 so my brother also wanted one. We both got an S6 and went out of the store. Fast forward to about 2 or 3 months ago. When I got home from school, I picked up my phone to go read some news on AA. I tried to fire it up, but it wouldn't. I let it charge for 10 mins and when I took it out of the charger it was boiling hot. I left it to cool down. When I again tried to boot it up, it showed the Galaxy S6 logo and then a loud beep and then a screen off and nothing. Later that week me and my mom took it to the repair shop. The diagnosed the problem after 5 mins and said that there's a problem with my motherboard and that it only occurs with Samsung devices. They also said that there are two fixes, the first one would be to let it be on charge for a day or two and the second one would be to replace the motherboard. I took my phone home and let it charge for about a day. When I took it of the charger it was working! Fast forward to about a week ago. Again, there was a problem with my phone. It was suffering from extreme lag and unresponsivnes. We again took it to the repair shop and the told us that my phone has a big software problem and that they should be able to fix it. I gave them my phone and they said that we should return after an hour. So we did, and my phone was working.
Now, I'll list a few reasons why shouldn't you buy a Galaxy S6 or any other Samsung phone:
1. Touchwiz UI
There are 2 groups regarding Touchwiz; Ones who like it and ones who don't. I, personally, would rather be in the 2nd group. The first group will always say how Touchwiz is beutiful and cool, has vibrant and live colors, icons are great and all that stuff. The other group says Touchwiz is cartoonish, unpolished, not clean and bloated. While Touchwiz may look good, it certainly isn't as good as some other UIs. For an example, take Sony, their UI may be a little too robust, but it's nice to keep it as stock as possible.
2. Bloatware
Samsung's used to put a heck of a lot apps on their deivces, but they really shouldn't, because many people don't use these apps and whle they may be useful they are still bloatware apps. If you count all the packages that Galaxy S6 or S7 has, you'll get a number that's around 300-320, if you take a Nexus 6P, you'll see that it only has around 90-110 packages.
3. Huge battery drain
I don't know if you noticed or not, but in the new MM update, Doze doesn't work for many people. Try and see, it won't amaze you. And, I had to do some crazy stuff to get it to work, trust me, it's not that easy.
4. Lack of features
While Samsung may put all those cool and new features in their apps, they don't put any cool system features, like double-tap to wake or sleep or anything like that and that really annoys me and that's just not cool.
5. Incompatibility
This one is the most horrible one. I hate Exynos proccessors, they all use closed-source drivers, so no cool custom AOSP stuff is coming soon to the Exynos phones.
ROM developers that want to use the AOSP or CyanogenOS base, they have to code the drivers themselves. It's not a huge problem with Qualcomm proccessors, because they I think provide the drivers.
I know, i Wisch i had bought a Nexus.... but i've solved The Problem and i could Flash The Rom but than When i will boot there cames The Messege that The Kernel is not seandroid enforcing. Do you know what i have made false?
Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
i love Touchwiz UI
i love samsung galaxy software feature which you call Bloatware
battery is ok not very good for heavy use
you missed all the good points about the phone which easily outweighs all the bad points you found in the phone.
i find Nexus stock ROM boring unless you root and intstall custom ROMs
stock android is way behind on the feature front compared to the samsung phones you really dont need to root or install custom roms because most of the features you want are already there. yes the battery isnt that great but you can charge it 0 to 70 percent in 30 min. its one of the last good phones with IR blaster in it. it has a pretty loud speaker (louder than the s7). the chip might be exynos but it sure runs quick.
Every user experience is different as I see it, I've had this phone 10 months now, apart from the battery which could be a few more hours better it's been more than enough for me. Performance has been great, the only times I've had lag is when I've experimented with kernel changes otherwise my daily setup has been great, I very rarely reboot my phone, only when the battery has died or I'm flashing something in recovery. But like I said the points that you brought up are ambiguous, everyone's experience is going to be different.

There's a few reasons why this is happening:
1. You're not unlocked
2. Your bootloader isn't up to date
3. You don't have a custom kernel
4. Your phone model isn't correct
5. Your processor may not be compatible
Now its exacly the contary
It's BECAUSE my Bootloader is up to date. The cm 13 does not support android 6.0.1 bootloader so i had to to a downgrade to android 5.1.1 and flash again now its working on my own build

1) It's not difficult to Google or look up YouTube videos on how TouchWiz operates.
2) See #1.
3) Agreed, for some reason the S6 and S6A have a huge drain that limits the screen on time to about a third of what it should be.
4) "...like double-tap to wake or sleep or anything like that and that really annoys me and that's just not cool."
"Just not cool?" Jesus Christ.
5) See #1.
How old are you?

My first and last Samsung. Never again.
Every mobile on the market has its own pros and cons. I have never been a fanboy of Samsung and I never will be, matter of fact, I judge the devices not the OEM.
Coming to S6, I believe it's been a ground breaking device for Samsung, I have been using it for the last one year without any major issues. And all the issues listed in the OP like Touchwiz, Bloatware are well documented and you will know about them once you do proper research before purchase. If you had bought Xperia Z3, you would have been talking about the SD810 and its overheating issues, again well documented, so no mobile is perfect.
My two cents.
EDIT: having said all, my next device will most probably be a Nexus device, or may be Motorola.

Why Moto? They just stated that they will not commit to monthly Android security updates and will only do major updates. That alone woukd make me avoid them nomatter how nice their devices are!
And what are the chances ot major updates now that they ate owned by Lenovo which also has many other phones. Companies with smaller amount of hardware for sale tend to be better with OS updates.

My battery life lasts for 3 days without a charge with light usage, and about a day with heavy usage. I've literally had zero problems with doze.
4. Lack of features
While Samsung may put all those cool and new features in their apps, they don't put any cool system features, like double-tap to wake or sleep or anything like that and that really annoys me and that's just not cool.

DT2W and such are really gimmicky. Coming from my HTC One M8, the majority of the time, trying to wake the device by tapping on the screen didn't work. Plus, you can always get a flip cover which turns on when flipped open and off when flipped close.

Part of it has to do with Exynos, yes. A bigger part of it has to do with no developer interest. Since we don't have arter97 working on his amazing kernel anymore, we've lost an amazing developer. If The Sickness leaves, we're likely going to not have any custom kernel development anymore. Exynos devices have gotten AOSP support before, and it is being worked on for the G92x series. Also, as a note, Qualcomm and the like don't provide their driver SOURCE, they provide the binaries only, basically the same as Samsung.
I, for one, really like the S6, even coming from devices which have better AOSP support or that are even Nexus devices. Everybody who's here for the most part loves this phone. It's fast, powerful, and beautiful. But certainly, it's not the right device for everybody, especially if they expect day one CyanogenMod support.

Moto for near stock experience and YES, fast updates. I know that it's different Motorola altogether after being acquired by Lenovo, but I believe the Moto team is still there with them, which gives a little glimpse of hope. But, yes it's definitely a concern though. But for me good thing is, my S6 is doing good (touchwood) and I most probably will not need a mobile device as of now. By the time I am into market, I really hope there is a clear picture where Motorola/Lenovo is heading with the updates and support. I have experimented with chinese OEMs like Xiaomi, OnePlus for few months and I absolutely loved the value for money factor they offer. But, on the software side, they are not as stable as established OEMs, don't get me wrong, MIUI or Cyanogen were great, but a bug will pop up from nowhere, more frequently than not.
Lack of features ? Is this a joke ?

The story does not say whether the phone was charging. The phone was in use, but that doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't charging.
On a side note. Its unfortunate this happened but why would you give your child the phone knowing about the possible risk?
Is bs is the parents didn't know with the amount of publicity this has gotten.
The phone could have been charging and the kid still using it and phones can get hoy while playing a game. A lot could have happened to cause this unless the issue is just an unstable battery regardless of use/heat

yes I have noticed this as well. the media is running rampant trying to destroy Samsung with the launch of Crapple 7 right around the corner.
truth comes out in this case, it was a "Galaxy Core" not a Note 7.
Lewis says the family all have Samsung phones and initially said the exploding phone was a Galaxy Note 7, the device that was recalled last week after reports that some of the lithium-ion batteries exploded or caught fire.
But the boy's mother said outside their home Monday the device is a Galaxy Core, not the recalled Note 7.

Not True wasn't a Note 7 , was a Galaxy Core that burn the boy, http://phandroid.com/2016/09/13/samsung-explosion-galaxy-core-new-york/
Actually it's quite concerning that it's happening on more than one Samsung product. Might reflect an overall laziness with qualify control

Phones across all brands have had issues with batteries. It's more of a battery issue and with how thin phones are.
Most companies go to third party suppliers for the parts.

There have been over 100 reports of iPhone 6s exploding, but no recall and no news about it. It seems like this entire thing is a small issue blown way out of proportion to aid Apple's iPhone 7 sales.
As I stated in another thread. Batteries are potentially dangerous and have been a part of numerous safety recalls for numerous products for that reason. I am not overly concerned it will happen again anytime soon with Samsung. Best odds for battery safety are now with them.
It wasnt a Note 7, as per this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyNote...ld_boy_in_brooklyn_not_burned_by_a_note7_but/
But guys, please take all the precautions. I am not charging my phone till 100%, no overnight charging...
Anything with these type of batteries can explode if it over heats. Playing video games and possibly charging at the same time is just a recipe for disaster regardless of the phone or device maker.
Hell put a can of soup on the stove unopened to heat up and leave it there. It will eventually explode

If that were true, it would be a reckless design choice for the phone to allow playing video games while charging.

You tell me, i dont play video games. Is it restricted to charge while playing a video game on a cell phone? Maybe it is and i dont know about it.
Can any phone distinguish video game play and not allow you to charge?

Either it works and is safe, or it's unsafe and blocked from happening. So in either case, it's not a "recipe for disaster" to try to do it. No one would design a phone in such a way that an app could make it catch fire under circumstances that the phone permits (and that there isn't even any warning about).

It can certainly distinguish heavy load, heavy battery drain, high temperature, etc.

Samsung admits these were their batteries. Chinese Note 7's got chinese sourced battery that is now being sourced for all Note 7's. Samsung batteries were also in many of the hoverboards that caught fire. Samsung said they were knock offs. Now I'm thinking otherwise.

In the first month of sales? Samsung has admitted that it is a design flaw in the battery that might allow the positive and negative to contact inside the battery. That is what causes them to flare up or explode.

They did not say it was a design flaw, they said it was a manufacturing error, not the same thing.

Still didn't answer me. Is there a phone that will stop a video or shut down if temp gets too high?
Its not a design per say, its a consequence of someone abusing their phone. Of course this was not the case with the note 7 but any phone can explode if the user abuses the device.
A phone can give you a warning of heat but i could be wrong. It wont stop what you are doing or shut down.
And im aware it can distinguish those things.

So im looking to purchase a nokia 6.1 plus global, read that you have to pay to unlock this phones bootloader tho, and i dont wanna do that. After a while of searching through videos onlin eand some blatantly fake ones, i saw one of an indian dude following a tutorial from a website called techmesto, which provides a tool that can unlock your bootloader, free of cost. the only issue is that you need to be able to get an otp on the website, and only 15 are generated in a day, so you have to be patient and keep trying. I know many people here are looking into unlocking their device for free, so can anyone test it out and reply with whether it works or not? The comments are moslty favouring it, with some asking if it works on other devices. It'd really help out the community, and would help me make the purchase with confidence too. Best of luck,
yes it's working perfectly, already tried it on my 6.1 plus ID region.
got the otp code after 3-4 days trying and checking the website constantly.

Thank you so much for the info, im currently looking to upgrade from my galaxy j5 at a low cost, then an ad for a nokia 6.1 plus (4/64) showed up for around £45, with the box and charger. After taking a look at the specs, I just had to buy it, but upon looking for some good custom roms, i found that bootloader unlocking was paid, which didnt suit me. So your reply has really helped out, as now I can purchase the device with confidence!
4 other questions for you though,
1. How is the battery life on this device? Some people say it lasts a day on light usage, while others say it lasts about 4 hours (screen on time)
2. Have you ever experienced the "charging port" issue? Many people have reported a charging port manufacturing problem, which can be fixed by repalcing the port, although some claim that there are still issues after replacing the port as well.
3. Is the smaller screen size annoying? Compared to most of today's phones being 6.2" or so, does it not feel as good to use a smaller screen or do you just not notice? Are the bezel really big? I'm aware of the larger notch (which im actually a fan of), but what about the thickness of the bezels and chin?
4. Do you experience any random reboots, or slow speed/lag? People using the nokia stock rom (android 10) claim that the device will sometimes randomly reboot, and that the performance is terrible one android 10, along with the battery life becoming worse.
My final question is, do you think that it's a good device to upgrade to in 2022? Coming from the Snapdragon 410, I think the 636 will be much better, with double my previous phone's ram and 4x the storage, along with a sleek thin bezel design and a glass+alluminium construction. If you have any problems with the device, please tell me about them here, I need to make my purchase within 6 days, so your (and anyone else's) help would be appreciated.
My only other option in this price range is the redmi 9c, or the realme c11 (both of which i dont like because their chipsets are weak and they lack ram, software is also not too good and they run mediatek SoCs, so im not sure about custom roms on those devices).
I'd really appreciate if you could help me out here, sorry for the long post.
Thanks in advance!

And also one other question regarding the bootlaoder unlock. When did you unlock it? I've heard that it might not work if you try it on the android 10 update, but the phone im getting is fully updated, so do you know if it works on android 10 as well? Did you encounter any issues while doing it, or was it straighforward (other than the OTP)?

Sometimes it is the same. It depends on your individual using mode. Actually, the average battery life is a day of light usage I'm not a gamer.

It's a pretty annoying problem. I have encountered it since three years of using. But after replacing the charging board my phone works perfectly. Possible bugs associated with this for different users, I think, may arise due to geographical features and using of different bands. Or just a defective board.

Reboots and rare slowdowns are inherent in any device, regardless of performance. It all depends on the volume and complexity of the tasks. During normal use there are no friezes and reboots. But this is MY experience.

One more unpleasant thing: Another unpleasant thing that also happened after about three years of using was the vibration motor failing. But judging by the reviews of other users, this is not a mass problem, unlike the charging port.

Alright, thank you SO much for the help!
How much did the charging port replacement cost you though? The one I'm buying claims to never have been repaired, so do you think the original port will be fine or will i be forced to get it repaired later on?
A charging board that looks like the original one costs about $5. She works perfectly for me. WiFi, microphone and so on. I ordered it on AliExpress and replaced it myself. So, it cost me less than I would have paid at a service center.
But in this case, you need to have tools and skills to do it yourself.
You can only replace the type-c connector. This is more reliable(I think so...), and the connector itself is cheaper than the board (its cost is about $1.5-2), but the repair is more complicated and requires more serious tools and qualification, which involves soldering the connector.
How long such a repair will work is unknown. The factory connector worked a long time, I wrote above. But this is not a guarantee that a new or refurbished one will work as much.
Alright, thanks for the info
The entire charging port board is only $8 in my area, so that shouldnt be a problem. The adhesive on the back glass isnt too strong is it? I dont want to break the glass when replacing the port if I ever have to.

get other phone, nokia 6.1 plus is not worth for 2022.
fyi, now my phone constantly reboot and looks like my battery had a problem and to replace it i would had to wait 1 month or more.
after searching online, this problem is common in nokia after 3-4 years usage.
so if u had the money, get other phone like redmi note 10 pro or other.
i can get this nokia 6.1 plus used for around $50, while a brand new redmi note 10 costs $250.
Coming from a phone with a snapdragon 410 and terribly slow ram and emmc, this nokia will surely be 4-5x faster in terms of computing power. That's more than enough for me.
Either way, I won't actually be buying it as the listing I saw when I made this post was sold, and the other options aren't in such great condition for around $60.

About battery life - it's not true as for me. Nokia has good charge controllers and batteries themselves. It all depends largely on the mode of using. Specifically, my nokia 6.1+ has a battery capacity level of 84% from the date of purchase, which is more than three and a half years. In addition I don't observe any random reboots. This is my experience though...
