While experimenting with the various ROMs available, I concluded that currently, I needed the stock firmware on my Galaxy Tab 4. After searching for hours to no avail, I finally came to the realization, that I already had the firmware on my girlfriend's untouched Tab 4! Yea... I bought 2. All I had to do was install TWRP 3.0 into her tablet, do a Nandroid Backup of her System and then transfer the backup to my tablet to restore it. It worked flawlessly.
I would like to make the Nandroid Backup available to others, but haven't figured out how to share files in these forums.
EDIT: Sorry about the title error. The Stock version is 5.0.2

I just got a replacement tab from best buy today and did a nandroid backup before installing the TouchWiz update. If anyone wants that image let me know how to format it in away that is flashable (I don't know how)
I'm guessing this would help the people who want to return to stock to get the official update.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA Premium App
I could use this but I don't know much about formatting the image - is it a zip file? I haven't used nandroid yet.
pershoot already has this in his tools pack. Here http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/?paged=3
I am interested, I hope someone can help us
Require shipped retail stock rom (backup)
Had recently bought a retail version t, but lost the backup since i flashed a touchwiz rom from development section. If someone can kindly share a backup of shipped retail firmware!
steps:
download the root zip file in internal memory http://lts.cr/bqf
apply in recovery(power plus left volume key>recovery>apply zip)
download rom manager and install clockworkmod recovery
backup the firmware from rom manager app.
share the backup (sdcard>clockworkmod>backup>date)
I installed this image which I beleive is the Samsung released OTA updated with TW. Seems to be working for me. I've been running it for a week now.
hc-3.1_touchwiz_ux-full_sam_tab_10.1.zip
Search for it in your favorite search engine and you should be able to find it.
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere. I've searched and found lots of info, but nothing that seems to address my question directly.
I have a 32 GB Google Nexus 10 running Android 4.4.4. I have an ota version of 5.0.1 Lollipop waiting to be installed. My 10 is rooted and has ClockworkMod 6.0.4.3 recovery, but no custom ROM as yet. Can I directly run the install to 5.0.1 and preserve my rooted state and CWM, or should I go back to plain vanilla factory, install 5.0.1, and then reroot and install a new recovery app?
The change from Dalvik to ART also has me a bit worried and I wonder how widespread the effects will be.
For that matter, I seem to see a lot of people having problems with 5.0 and 5.1, but don't know what other mods or flash installs were being used or what their pre-update configs were, so I don't know if it is wise or not to simply upgrade my existing configuration, restore to factory first, or to ignore the upgrade and stay with KitKat.
Any advice?
Hi,
I really enjoyed Lollipop, except for the notification bar it's way better! I will recommend you installing the fresh stock image of the firmware (from Google Developer Nexus website: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images). But it's better for you to have a backup of your current state.
ART made things more fluid than before. For the apps I'm using I didn't find any compatibility issues.
All the best,

Hi,
i was looking a way to backup my full device s5 Neo that i purchased 3 days ago. I already did it abd rooted my S2.
I have latest Samsung driver however Odin does not backup but flash to device new ROM.
i would like to backup device before rooting it. To do that under S2 i had to root my phone first and to install CWM, only after i was able to backup full device....so still the same thing under S5 Neo ?
i checked http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2699648 and it seems that first header is confusing...at lesat it confused me that we can full backup device with new Odin before rooting device.
S5 Neo already include a CWM version but without recovery/backup items in the menu

You can try twrp recovery

Hi,
i already read this article, however to download the CWM you need to give them your mobile phone number so sorry that's only a ad page nothing more.
Moreover, officially from Google, android 6 is still AFAIK in beta mode.
Hi there,
my 802 is running on TWRP after I updated to the latest stock ROM (30D Europe Open). Unfortunately due to problems mentioned in another thread I cannot install a custom ROM currently. Does anyone here have a mirror for me where I can download a TWRP backup of the stock ROM?
Thank you in advance
If you can't install a custom rom, what makes you think you can install a stock? It's pretty easy.
Very helpful... I flashed the latest KDZ on the G2, rooted it and installed TWRP 3.0.2.0, so far so good (believe it or not I flashed a dozen other android devices before). However when I try to install a Marshmallow ROM it gives me Error 7, so that means that getprop.device or so doesnt bring the correct value up. Now when I tried to switch to an older TWRP which is supposed to not have that Error 7 issue (2.7.0.0) I get an error saying I am missing the Loki files in the tmp folder. Now I do not know how to get around the Error 7 (the fix that is mentioned on here didnt work for me, brings up Error 6 instead) I would like to return to a stock backup.
How about giving me actual advice or leaving and letting other people help?
Edit: Booted in Download Mode and flashed v30D KDZ with the 2014 LG Flashtool. Works with Stock ROM for now
Hi,
Help needed,
I wanted to update to the newest MadOS. To do so, you should use the TWRP version mentioned there. I first tried to update to that TWRP version. That did not work. I thought maybe first go back to stock rom before upgrading to that version of TWRP. I searched the internet and found the KitKat 4.4.4 stockrom. I flashed that one with SP Tools. So far no problem. When i started the phone I found that it was not an multilanguage version. It was Chinees. I was able to change language in English, but several apps and signs were in Chinees. So I thought i searh for another stockrom.
I found one at chinagadgetsreviews.com. The description said that it was suitable for the s3 advanced and it was the S3SW version. The file i downloaded was
JIAYU S3 (3+16) Android 4.4.4 ROM(S3-20150314-141844)(PC+SD card versions).
So I flashed that one with SP Tools. But at 84% the upgrading stopped. I waited for one hour but it really stopped. I disconnected and reconnected the phone to the PC. From there, the phone was no longer recognized and when i tried to start the phone it starts till you see the wite Jiayu letters and then it stops loading. I tried to start the phone in recovery (I thought maybe the old TWRP is still on the phone). Starting in recovery worked, but no twrp. It started in the old Jiayu recovery. Then I put the sd version mentioned above on the sd card and with the Jiayu recovery I could update to this version. , but I think both versions, the sd and PC versionare not suitable for the S3 Advanced, cause starting the phone still stops by the white jiayu letters.
As far as i see there are two solutions possible.
1) Someone could help me with an nandroid backup. (Then i have to change the imei numbers afterwards)
2) Convert a stockrom to a version that works on SD, but i do not know how that works, so i prefer a Nandroid backup from someone.
Is there someone around withj a nandroid backuop for the jiayu advanced 3 Gig NFC.
(Not the Plus version)

What error message do you get if you update to twrp_20180417.img?
I have S3 Advanced (MT6752, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal) which had originally Android 5.1 (Build Number: CKY_MOBILE_JIAYU_S3A_V1.0). I used SP Flash tool to flash twrp_20180417.img to the recovery partition. I used the scatter file from RC5_S3PRO_32GB.zip. My recovery partition starts at 0x0000000002d20000 and has length 0x0000000001000000. The recovery partition was the only one that I flashed.
Then I booted to the just flashed TWRP and installed madOS_8.1.0_s3_h560_20190722.zip and open_gapps-arm64-8.1-nano-20171224-UNOFFICIAL.zip. Now I am a happy Android 8.1.0 user!
