Will I be able to update again to 7.0 if I flash the soak test zip file if I flash it via stock recovery or will my bootloader give error or brick my phone?

Possible ways to get 5.0.2 update of your country: Downgrade - Upgrade via OTA

Hi guys!!!
Not all the phones and firmwares are equal. And not all the scenarios are the same. Given that recently a lot of OTAs of 5.0.2 of various countries and carriers are getting captured, a lot of you surely want the firmware for your specific carrier/country. So here we will try to find what to do in an specific case you are on. Let's start!
Lets use the rule of IF THEN DO THAT:
IF you are in 4.4.2, never rooted, and never upgraded to 4.4.4 (RARE),
THEN upgrade to 4.4.4 of your specific carrier/country via OTA (or flash an entire 4.4.4 firmware), and after that, update all Motorola apps, specially Motorola Update and Motorola Services, and then upgrade to 5.0.2 via OTA or flashing via stock recovery. (Reccomended backup all and FACTORY RESET before all this process to prevent boot issues)

IF you are in 4.4.2, rooted, and never upgraded to 4.4.4 (RARE)
THEN try to get your 4.4.4 specific firmware image and flash it, including motoboot.img and gpt.bin. After that, OTA to 5.0.2 or flash the OTA zip via stock recovery.

IF you are on 4.4.4, never rooted and never upgraded to 5.0.1 or 5.0.2,
THEN upgrade via OTA if you get the notification, or if you dont get it yet, download your specific OTA and flash it via stock recovery. (Reccomended backup all and FACTORY RESET before all this process to prevent boot issues)

Click to collapse
IF you are on 4.4.4, rooted and never upgraded to 5.0.1 or 5.0.2,
THEN try to find your specific country/carrier 4.4.4 FIRMWARE IMAGE and flash it using your PC (mfastboot preferred, search for some guide here). Remember that OTA updates require an untouched /system partition and stock recovery. Once restored 4.4.4 system, OTA to 5.0.2 or flash it via stock recovery.

IF you are on 5.0.1 Google Play Edition fiwmware, rooted or unrooted,
THEN you have a GPE new bootloader and partition table!!! To correct that and have the ones from Motorola, search for the BRAZILIAN RETAIL 5.0.2 FIRMWARE IMAGE and flash it using mfastboot, INCLUDING MOTOBOOT.IMG AND GPT.BIN. Once you have the entire Brazilian 5.0.2 firmware, you can:
*Keep that Brazilian firmware or, if you still want the 5.0.2 of your country...
*Flash a 4.4.4 firmware image of your country/carrier, excluding motoboot.img and gpt.bin (screen flickering included but fixed on Lollipop) and OTA to 5.0.2, or flash the OTA via stock recovery.
Click to collapse
IF you are on Brazilian Retail 5.0.2, rooted or unrooted,
THEN do the stated above: Flash a 4.4.4 firmware image of your country/carrier, excluding motoboot.img and gpt.bin (screen flickering included but fixed on Lollipop) and OTA to 5.0.2, or flash the OTA via stock recovery.
Click to collapse
IF you are on CM11, CM12, PA or other custom ROM, but never updated to any official Lollipop that contains new bootloader and partition table(GPE or Moto),
THEN you have a KitKat bootloader and partition table!!! So, get the 4.4.4 specific firmware of your country/carrier and flash it, excluding motoboot.img, but including gpt.bin. Once flashed the firmware, update via OTA to 5.0.2 or flash it via stock recovery.
Click to collapse
IF you are on CM12, PA, or other custom ROM, but already updated to a Lollipop firmware (GPE or Moto),
THEN you have the new bootloader and partition tables from Lollipop!!! Here you have two paths:
*IF you flashed a Moto Lollipop before but now passed to a custom ROM, you have Moto Lollipop bootloader and partition table. So, get a 4.4.4 firmware image of your country/carrier, flash it excluding motoboot.img and gpt, bin, and update Moto apps. Then update via OTA or flashing via stock recovery.
*IF you flashed GPE Lollipop before but now passed to a custom ROM, you have GPE Lollipop bootloader and partition table. So, get BRAZILIAN RETAIL 5.0.2 FIRMWARE IMAGE and flash it including motoboot.img and gpt.bin. Then if you want, keep that firmware. But if you want your specific country/carrier Lollipop OTA on your device, flash a 4.4.4 firmware image of your country/carrier, excluding motoboot.img and gpt.bin (screen flickering included but fixed on Lollipop) and OTA to 5.0.2, or flash the OTA via stock recovery.
Click to collapse
NOTE: There is no problem if you are on GPE 5.0.1 or Moto 5.0.2 and downgrade to 4.4.4 and then OTA to 5.0.2 because the OTA already includes a Lollipop bootloader and partition table, so the update process will flash the Lollipop bootloader and table partition again. As they are the same version of partitions, there will be no problem.
HOPE THIS HELPS TO CLARIFY WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO!!!
CHEERS AND ENJOY LOLLIPOP!!!
Wow, well written, there are such various scenarios. I have followed 4.4.4 rooted, fastboot restore (via pc+cable) stock rom 4.4.4, check OTA saying all up to date, the had to flash the 5.02 OTA captured. Very happy with it.

OTA through custom recovery?

Can we get OTA updates through custom recovery in such a method?
Get OTA files from an unrooted S5 when it's ready to OTA and flash it to a rooted S5 through the custom recovery?
Is there a way to get the OTA files?
I have a rooted S5 and I just used Kies and it installed the update with no data loss for me ******still back it up***** Then I just reinstalled a custom recovery and SuperSU binaries to root.
I think you cant since stock rom OTA needs a stock recovery
Not only a stock recovery but also unrooting the phone.
Samsung OTA must do a rom check is quite annoying, while Huawei's OTA does not check whether you rom is modified but the files to be updated.

You may have to back to stock firmware
You can do via adb , just unpack firmware and flash boot.img , cust.img recovery.img and system.img
After that you must update using update.app to fix bricks
Hello, i have bootloader locked, so how do i do ?
Unlock via huawei website
Just google it
I would like to keep the guarantee, if I go into B534 , after I downgrad in b300 and b170 in her should work ?
Only if you relock your bootloader. I mean without root and custom recovery you can relock it

software update on firmware marshmallow

Hello,
My Note 4 is rooted , emotion nightly with twrp, using stock rom samsung marshmallow
today I received a software update for the marshmallow firmware.
the update is a zip file
I tried to flash the update using twrp, but it failed. As I understood twrp can't flash zip files, only tar
I tried to flash the update using odin, but it failed. is this the same with odin?
maybe I am doing something wrong
is there by any chance a possiblity to flash the update or do I need to install the complete new stock firmware ?
thanks in advance, kind regards, coinco
How did you recieved the update ?
If you downloaded it from sammobile
Then first extract the zip file , if you get an .tar file , only then you can flash it with odin .
You simply cant flash an official update through any unofficial software , so dont try to flash it in custom recovery .
Reporting via N910G.
Thank you, for your answer,
I received the update, through (F) OTA,
so as I understand correctly, it will not be possible to flash the file.
It will be no problem , I will flash the original new firmware.
