VNS-L31 on VNS-L21 - Huawei P9 Lite Questions & Answers

Is it possible to put VNS-L31 on VNS-L21 (and how) and get 1 GB RAM more?

What?!

maybe take a look here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p9lite/development/europe-vns-l31-toolkit-bootloader-t3432873

RAM is a physical component, it's not software so it's impossible

You are stupid, no offense.
It's IMPOSSIBLE!

I thought you could get more ram using a MicroSD card. Dont know if it is exposed or whatever. It doesnt make it a different device but it could help.

You can make the SD card as internal storage, but it's impossible to expand RAM.

Yeah it's possible by roehsoft ram expander

Even so it would be virtual RAM.. the speed would be slower than normal RAM

It Will be slower qnd the battery will drain quicker

You can debrand to L31 and its quite easy and you most likely would get the OTAs for the L31 version but its NOT advised to do it ram management already sucks on huawei if your phone would think that it has 3gb pf ram while only actually having 2gb the ram management would go nuts and msot likely because of the "more" virtual ram that doesnt acutally exist you phone would push the battery too hard and might damage it beyond repairs you can try it just make sure to not do it on your daily driver till you sure about what you doing and having everything to change back to l21 qnd if you wanna convett your phone to l31 you could buy 3gb of ram that is compatible with your phone and open up the phone and change it out but if you wanna do that its easier and safer to just selk the old and buy a l31 or a newer phone like the 2017 version of the P9 lite or even a P10 lite if we look at it like this

How to add more ram to our tiny devices(Through SD card;) )

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=683123
How to use Swap space on SD to increase ram on our devices so we can run more demanding apps.
swap is possible only with custom kernel, so it will not work for us
I believe that doixanh proved more than enough that custom kernel is not needed for any kernel modifications Still, we would need a module.
but i don't think that he should make swap module it will be better if he will finish this
Well, it's up to him what he wishes to develop
IMO swap is useless for Android. It has its own memory management already.
And it would certainly take a high class sd card, AND it would be harmful for it So next time we should just buy a phone with bigger RAM memory

So, how can we increase the memory through SD, my finding isn't good ? If not, how to do it the right way?XD

I don't really care about my SD card's health XD i just want more ram XD
But what do you need slow RAM for? RAM is very dynamic and since we already use app2sd it could even slow your device down instead of enhancing performance...
EDIT: Well, maybe it would be faster if you have a class 10 card...
Yeah SD is slow and putting swap there will be incredibly slow.

Yes, but i want this because you know that there are some applications that won't run on X8 because of it's low ram...so, i dont care about about speed, also, i don't use app2sd, so no slowdown, I am using Class 4 card
Yeah I know. Just my opinion

So, is there a way of using ram just for the ram consuming apps, to make X8 able to at least run them? (You already released an SD card speed fix, so it should go a bit faster...Can you help me, cuz i really like running RAM hungry apps and i don't have enough ram :|
No I don't know about that. Haven't tried swap thingies yet
for example, there are games, like dungeon defenders that requires 256 MB of RAM at the runtime (it's the requirement of unreal enginge 3 i belive). some guys have managed to run the game on LG swift, which is pretty much the same device as x8 when it comes to hardware. maybe it's not running too fast (although i saw some video where it was even faster than on some more powerful devices), and it's not quite playable, but some people might still enjoy it. and without SWAP, it's impossible; and it's just a one example.

Thanks for supporting my ideea XD We really need Swap for Ram Hungry apps
Yes. great. ideA. but... is posible?
The app that does this on market requires custom kernel so might not be possible atm

[Q] Increase RAM with flash memory on defy

hello,
im using Motorola Defy MB525 with cm9 4.0.3
my q is, can I somehow increase the RAM with the sdcard memory (like create something like virtual RAM or something like that) to improve my phone performance ?
it preety slow because it still Beta and i want it to be fast as cm7 so i thoght it may help.
anybody tried it before ?
You can do it by swap, but you need really good sd-card (class 8 or 10), because it can slow down your phone.
Don't you have enough ram?

unfortunatly, i think that its the only way to speed up my phone, becuase i wont take the risk with oc above 1000Mhz
its this or wait till cm9 will be official for defy and hope it will be faster, one of the two.
+1 to the idea was thinking about it the other day
Would a 32gb class 10 work and partition a gb or two? It is complete overkill to the size of ram but I think a gb would be quicker than our 500mb as system steals about 250-300 minimum
teamwork makes the dream work
If someone can do this with a 32 GB class 10, can you please share with us ? I am very interested. Thanks!
We cant do swap... our kernels dont suport it...
Sent from my MB526 using Tapatalk
now cm7 can swap
More and more ROMs support swap, but unless you are willing to sacrifice a good Class 10 card for it, most people don't want to use it. Because SD and NAND are not meant to be written and read from as much as RAM, it can break down.
Use CM10 ROMs or GB roms, they are much superior to ICS in memory management imho.
I have teh same problen, not enough RAM in CM7 Defy.
It can slow the phone.
can i use some memory swap with my 32gb c10 card?
Or i use an memory killer, like CleanMaster?

I recomended use memory killer, because you can screw up 32gb 10 card (c10 cards are expensive).

Android 4.1.1 Taking so much ram?

Hi,
I was wondering how can Android 4.1.1 use around 580MB-600MB of Ram with everything closed ? I even tried to wipe all my data/apps.. Still always at 580MB (around). My iPad 2 has 512 MB Of ram and always have 256MB available. (Means the system use around 256MB too). Is it normal that Android use twice the ram iOS would?
If not can it be fixed? If yes can it be improved?
Thanks

Free ram is wasted ram. Your device is supposed to use all the ram it can.
Your Nexus 7 has double the amount of RAM than your iPad 2. It may as well be used!
Don't worry about free ram space. The android system manages ram really well.
Clears processes if your using ar am intensive app.
Since the memory is not being used it may as well make your nexus7 smoother.
Alright thanks you ! I will stick on these answer

Lg d722 ram expansion? [howto]

Greetings fellow persons
I have a LG D722 and I wish to breathe some new life into this phone
I have heard that you can expand ram with the use of an sd card
Here are my questions
Does my phone support such a function?
IF root is needed, will it still work after i disable root?
Do i just get a 10 speed XXGB sd card?
What would be the best sd card to choose in terms of speed (that the phone supports)
What (free) app should i use?
If you need any additional info, let me know
Thanks

This is not possible. Even if it was possible, it would be way too slow because ram is way faster than an sd-card.
EDIT: You can use a SWAP file, but you can't use it as "Real" ram

Thanks for the swift reply Raphael
A pity that it is not possible, the phone has a rather low amount of ram for today's standards
I see that you have also owned a G3 albeit another version.
Did you make any changes to improve the phone performance?

I had the "real" g3 with the snapdragon 801 and 3gb of ram so I didn't had to do anything because it was a great phone for the price.
But, before that I had a really bad phone with only 512 mb of ram and I tried everything to make it go faster (overclock (witch make the phone really hot), "ram booster" kind of app (they don't make any noticeable difference), etc...) but I realised that we just can't do that. So, unfortunately, we have to live with it until we change phone.
That being said, you can always disable animation to help the device go faster but that's pretty much it.
Yep done that it helped a bit
I am using "root booster" it makes my device react quicker then normal, i noticed the difference right of the bat
And got rid of some of the bloatware, am currently researching which other ones i can safely remove

Need suggestions!!

Hello guys,am planning to buy the Asus zenfone max pro m2(4/64 variant).
Should I go for it?I have read various comments on YouTube saying that the mobile consumes a lot of ram and also battery drains too fast etc.
So,I want suggestions from you people.. Also can anyone please tell me how much ram is free in 4gb Variant.?
Thanks
I don't understand all free RAM obsession, RAM is meant to be used and to my knowledge, 80% of available RAM will be occupied. That unless you restrict background running for most apps. Alternatively, you can easily clear recent apps on regular basis. Or better yet, use Naptime or similar apps to apply Doze more aggresively. I use realme 2 pro which natively applying aggresive RAM cleanups and I'm not happy with that. I don't have any issues with Max Pro 2 battery. When it comes to android, you have more control of it. It isn't perfect in any sense but that's what makes it challenging and interesting.
There is no issues like that. They must be comparing it to redmi or realme phones which use aggressive ram management. They even provide tools to clear and kill recent apps in the skin itself. In my opinion this affects the seamless multi-tasking capability of the phone. Why buy a phone with 4gb of ram if you can't use it?!!

More the RAM is being used more seamless experience you gonna get, Free RAM does nothing in phone but occupied RAM does help out with quick and snappier feel of the phone. You can free the RAM but that won't help you anyway, when android wanna load something in the RAM which is filled it removes allocation of memory to less prioritised stuffs and this process repeats all over when you open different Apps. When an app is already there in RAM it's faster to switch/open that app !

Yes exactly, redmi and realme phones comes with custom ui which causes the unnecessary ram usage.
