So, I bought my Note7, returned it, got the replacement Note7, then returned it and then reactivated my old S6.
What I didn't do, is actually look at my bill until recently as I use Autopay and rarely look at my bill.
So here's what actually happened:
1) Note 7 (#1) activated, $30 activation charge
2) Note 7 (#2) activated, $30 activation charge
3) S6 reactivated, $30 activation charge
Holy crap! $90 in activation charges and I'm back to my original phone!!!
Please check your Sprint bill. Call them, get the money back. I wasted 1 hour of my life on the phone with Sprint Customer "Service" getting this reversed.
Then, they lied and tried to say that the credit that Samsung is paying us actually covers the Sprint fees. Lies!!!
I wonder how many thousands of people just haven't bother to check their bills. Don't get scammed by Sprint. Don't let them get away with this.
Please post this on your social media account!
Thank you.
I had to call them to refund my activation fee.. took like 25min asking for refund due to recall and finally they did but they said they don't refund activation fees. I returned my note so only got 1 activation fee

I was wondering all that also. Was flying over the weekend, so had to get the note 3, yes I still have the note 3 still a great phone, and strolled into the store I visit all the time, send people there, and they reactivated the note 3, waived the fees and all is good. Now that I am back home, will be going back to the store, reactivate the N7 and look at the V20. Problem with V20 is that the camera is not getting good reviews. I have been told both my N3 and N7 take great pics. I hate to loose that......
Well...
During this whole fiasco I have activated:
Two Note7s, returned
The two replacement Note7s
Next I bought an LG G5 as an interim phone and quickly remembered why I switched to Samsung once LG launched the G3 (G2 was one of my favorite phones BTW)
Reactivated my Note7
Finally gave back my Note7 for a s7 Edge
Then swapped the other Note7 for another s7 Edge
And wasn't charged an activation fee once.
Perhaps cause ive bought all these outside of contract i dunno....
So take that social media!
Good day Mr. Legere

I actually did this 2 weeks ago in Daly City, CA. All I did was tell them that ATT is current offering 50% off smart phones which is still in their website. If you click on the deal link, you will see the GN3 is there. However, I believe it's only for phones < $200. But the manager knew about the deal and price matched without any resistance.
I did this again in Austin, TX last week for my dad. This time the manager is being more resistant. He said it's $250 on their website not $150. I then told him you have to complete the check out process for the promotion to show up. Luckily, one of his employees confirmed that. You might even be able to get it for $125 since it's $250 with 2 year contract on the ATT website.
Good luck.

BBY employee here. YMMV. Our store will price match after verifying their competitor has the phone in stock locally. Even then it's entirely at the discretion of that particular store. Good luck!

If this doesn't work, order the phone through ATT retention Dept. I got mine for $199 plus tax next day and $30 off messaging for 6 months and $100 (credit?) back after 40 days for renewing my contract. YMMV, but just keep on calling until they give you what you want. Took me 3 tries.
Sorry didn't mean to hijack the thread, just wanted to inform you guys of this

How did you get that deal? All they offer me is 100 credit and phone full price. My girlfriend would be upgrading to new iphone and signing a 2 yr contract. We would be on a family plan and she would add me on with the note 3. How do I reach retentions? I called yesterday and said cancel but idk if that was retentions. They made a note on my account about the credits. I want to call back and at least get both phones for 200. Any advice how I go about this? The rep noted my account for the 2 100 credits after 30 and 45 days

I got a similar deal last night from retentions.
Family plan
Renewed contract with one line
Newest iphone 200
Instant 100 credit on account brings phone to 100
2nd line
Note 3 instant 100 off 200 for phone
Both over night free
No activation/upgrade fees
Free messaging credit for 6 months bringing base plan to 90 bucks to may 14

Too bad BB doesn't go back 30 days like Sears (or like Sears used to, anyway). It would be nice to walk in with 2 phones and walk out with 2 phones and a check (or even store credit).

Are you eligible for an upgrade? I got the same offer. $100 credit after 30 days, $25 off any phone and waived activation fees.
I dialed 611 and choosed cancel service. Told the guy I wanted to cancel my line. Of course they always say sorry to hear that and would like to know why. I told him I found a better deal for the phone I wanted from another carrier. At the time Amazon was selling the note 3 for $124.99 with a new activation. What a great price huh but I've no intention of switching to sprint even if the phone was free. Terrible service where I live. I don't know if he bothered to look it up or not but a minute later I got the offer.
So I'm still not sure if I want buy the phone yet. I've been checking this forum to see if it's going to be worth it. As soon as safe strap arrive then I'll probably pull the trigger.
Oh and I've confirmed that you can still get the credit even if you don't order from At&t. I asked him to note that on my account. So basically I can get the note 3 from amazon for $199.99 minus the $100 credit.

i called att on black friday (just like last year when i got my 2 s3 for $.01 each) and requested an upgrade. the rep on the phone told me i was unable to upgrade at the 1 year point and had to wait for another year till my contract expired. i told her i was able to upgrade the year before with no problems and the rep told me their policies had changed and the only way i could upgrade was to switch to the next program (not happening). so i told her if i had to wait till next year that i would cancel my service and go else where. she asked what phones i wanted and i told her i wanted the s4 for the wife and i was on the fence about the lg g2 and the note 3. she put me on hold and came back saying they would allow me to upgrade early and they would give me the s4 for $49 and the note 3 for $99. so after taxes and everything (free overnight shipping, no activation fees) i paid $165 for an s4 and note 3. then my little victory came crashing down after i logged in here to find i was getting a locked bootloader

I got the Deal Of the Decade.
Note 3 $175
$100 bill credit (to be issued with 45 days)
Waived Upgrade Fee
Free Overnight Shipping
And ......... a Free Galaxy Gear smartwatch
That would mean I got the N3 for $75 ............................................................ but,
I just sold the Gear on Craig's List this afternoon for $240 bucks.
So I got the N3 for free, and put $165 in CASH straight into my xmas fund!
Holy crap, maybe the deal of the centry possibly? :victory:
^^^awsome deal, wish I got that.
Sorry for the late reply, but for those of you that couldn't get it, just call again, it took me 3 calls. I just told them that I need to lower my monthly bill and I want the phone for $199. Didn't need to beat around the bush for me, straight to the point. And one of my lines was due for an upgrade.
Just got to be persistent. Good luck
FYI, Amazon has the phone for $199 with upgrade. Maybe mention that if you want. But it shouldn't matter
Just letting you all know, Best Buy currently has the Note 3 for $149 for new lines, as well as the S4 for free (the promotion is for $50 off of the current sale price, so the Note 3 is listed at $199 and the S4 is 49.99). No haggling or price matching required. I set up a new Mobile Share plan on AT&T, ported over from Verizon, and got a Note 3 and S4 on contract for $160 out the door.
Just to be clear this is for new customers only?
Never made sense to me why people are promised the Moon until they are loyal customers...
I'd like my wife's note to actually be opened before the price drops from 300.... but if I can return it and rewrap it and pocket 100 more for Christmas that's okay too.

did you call att?
any notes on calling them and how to demand and get that kind of a price?
I currently have verizon galaxy nexus with unlimited data hooked up to my friends line for $50/month. contract ends in 2 weeks.
I have 6 lines with ATT for my family 10gb share and they only use like 4gb a month so if I join them for $30/month then I will be good for 5-6gb/month. I never went over 3gb/month with verizon all this time that I had UNLIMITED data. I really wanted to keep unlimited data with verizon and get the Note3 with them and pay $50/month with them but verizon won't let me keep the unlimited. the way around is I open a line with verizon and make a switch of phones and put dumb for the new opend line and pay $10/month then I will be paying $60/month to stay with Verizon to keep the unlimited data vs. $30/month with ATT with about 5-6gb/month.
I am debating but I know that I should go with ATT and save hundreds of $$ for next 2 years.
So Please help me and guide me to get some good deal like you :fingers-crossed:
Went inside best buy mobile today to pick up my pre ordered note 4, and they told me that i had to switch my plan in order to walk out with the phone! The new plan they were trying to get me on would make me pay 800$ for my note and be "off contract". In order to switch to that plan id have to cancel all 5 of my lines, with the ETF fees up in the thousands of dollars. I told him no way and that id call sprint, and ge told me that even if I call i'd still have no choice. Anyone else encounter something similar?

I had something similar happen to me today at the Sprint Store. The clerk insisted that I couldn't keep my plan. I told him to get bent. After a heated exchange, I turned on the phone, had the phone go through the automated activation process and viola, I was activated on my existing plan. He sheepishly mumbled something under his breath and I walked out with my phone.
I'm guessing they only make the sweet commission when they sign you up for a new plan.
I had trouble with keeping my plan at Best Buy as well but the Best Buy Mobile guy called Sprint. I didn't even have to push. He did that on his own. The woman at Sprint wanted to speak to me to get permission to speak with the clerk about my account. They were able to fix it so that I was able to keep my plan. It took a few minutes but didn't seem to be a problem. I have the old Everything Data 450 plan which I've had for a couple of years now. Got it with my Galaxy S3.
When I looked it up on Sprint's website a few days ago, it just said that you had to have an Everything Data plan (or some other type of plan but I can't remember the name) and it didn't specify that you had to have a higher plan. I'm glad I got to keep my plan. It's already more than I need. The plan he was looking to switch me to would've been $90 before taxes. Right now I pay $80.

Been There Done That
I bought the Note 4 for my fiance` yesterday. We had been shopping around for phones for a while. Many of the sales rep's said the same thing, in that we had to switch plans and we could not buy the phone out right but instead had to make a $30/month payment for 24 months. This was not going to happen. I mean, what about my rebates and the 2 year contract discounts. Finally I called up the HQ corporate store in Reston VA to get the skinny on the situation. They instructed me to go to any corporate store and that they could get me the phone with my discounts and continue to use the plan I have on my phone, the S4. Long story short YES you can keep your old plan, YES you can buy the phone outright and not pay nearly $800 for the device! Now you know and anyone who says otherwise should win the employee of the month award.
PS The employees at sprint whom I have worked with at both HQ and other corporate locations are extremely knowledgeable and go out of there way to make sure you are happy with their service. One employee sat and entertained my son while the other explained how to best utilize the phones features while yet another went of to find an assortment of accessories. I felt like I was a celebrity. And they did this for every customer. It doesn't get much better than that.
Pre-order thru BB picked up yesterday no issues upgraded my line. Traded a old evo 4g got 200$ paid 123$ total for note 4. Can't beat that deal never tried or force me to change plan family 1500 here unlimited data

When I went to pre-order at BB, that's what I was told as well.. They are saying that Sprint is forcing this issue.. I pre-ordered anyway, only because I want the 200 rebate on the old phone. I figured I'd argue the point when I pick it up.
Otherwise, I would have had my phone in hand already from Sprint instead of waiting on BB.
I picked up the note4 from the sprint store yesterday and ended up going with the new plan. They spelled out the two programs and said either are available with pros and cons of both and I ended up going with the "new" plan. Did I make a mistake ? Its still unlimited data and seemed to be mostly the same ?
So now you are paying 720 for the phone... Good deal?

the two new plans we offered now says in small writing, your plan can be throttled while watching a movie to 1 megabyte per second and people with other plans have priority over data than you do.
I tried to add a second line to my account which I have the 450 data unlimited plan and they said that they had to go into a new plan you have two phones I stated about the new rules of being throttled me act like you didn't know anything about it and would not look it up.
I don't watch alot of video over cell. So I'm fine with switching over. I can see for people who are using 10+ gigs a month that being a problem.
It's not just video. You get on the web at peak times, guess who gets bumped first. The peeps with the new plans. It might not matter to some. I live out in the boonies and have only one tower to connect to and sucks during peak. But Sprints my only choice, unless back to satillite.........NOT
I ended up getting my way by calling sprint in the best buy store to keep my existing plan, but he told me sprint was going to make me switch one way or another sooner than later.
Again that's not a bad thing. I don't get kicked off data. I just don't get priority data service. That's no different then other unlimited plans.
My data usage is somewhere between 1-2 gigs a month. I don't see it being that big of a deal. If its not your only source of net.
Plan Change
I was told by Sprint rep that I would have to change plans if I upgraded through them. One Sprint rep told me other retailers such as BB could do the upgrade without changing plans. Both BB stores I talked to confirmed this. I had no problem when getting mine.
I pre-ordered two at BB and picked them up Friday. The guy during pre-order didn't have a problem with me keeping my plan and neither did the guy I picked them up from. Seems like it is hit or miss on knowledgeable versus not knowledgeable employees in both sprint and BB. It also sounds like someone us perpetuating something false to lots of people making it worse.

I had the same issue, but at a Sprint corporate store! They kept telling me that we would have to call Sprint customer care and get their permission for us to keep our current plan (the grandfathered in 1500 Everything data plan). We called customer care from home, and they said they will put something on our account that says we wouldn't have to change our plan. When I went back to pre-order it, they told us we would have to call customer care in store in order to get this change approved. After a bunch of arguing everything was handled and I pre-ordered the phone (about 2 weeks ago). Friday comes, and that store never got the phone in. I was going out of town so I was a bit upset that I wasn't going to have my new phone. Saturday I went to a Sprint store where I was at for the weekend and they had Note 4's in-stock. While purchasing we weren't told we had to change our plan at all, and it was a very smooth process. The $80 that Samsung would send me 1-2 months from now for pre-ordering the phone was irrelevant at this point.
TLDR- One store said we had to change our plan and would not budge, Other store didn't even bring up changing our plan.
Hello!! I thought my BB Note 4 experience is worth sharing. I preordered on 10/17. That day I asked about trade in of an old Droid 4. I told them I wanted to keep unlimited data and would be paying full price. Was told no problem on trade in for $200 gift card. Tonight, I go in to pick up the phone and they told me since I'm not going to get a new contract, I wont get the $200 gift card. I reminded them of who told me. Here is what they did to come through. They took the droid on a trade for $25. After that they discounted the price $175....No gift card, but a mark down. (I did try to get a Verizon price match, no luck.). I also had a 10% off card that came in a USPS address change kit I received recently for BB, for any one item. They took that, too....at full retail, so another $75 off. I wasnt done. I had a $10 rewards coupon. Took that, too. So, I ended up paying $465 and kept my unlimited data. Can't complain here.
I had a very good experience at Best Buy. Traded my Incredible for the $200 and used a data line with an upgrade due, but son already has a jail broke iPhone he wants to keep using.
They activated the N4 on his line and then put my S4 sim in the N4 and reactivated his iPhone. Did the juggling to keep unlimited data.
My experience initially with best buy was insane. I pre-ordered and went to the store only to find out their "beast" system had the wrong price for the verizon note 4 on the edge plan. It's normally 699, but the system had it for 749. Apparently I was the first person in the country to discover this and they call corporate and they had to update the system which didn't take place until 4pm est.
When I finally got my phone it was good. I got a 200 dollar gift card for trading in my old Galaxy s. I also get a 100 dollar line credit for opening a new line. I also took advantage of the double data plans on their family share plans verizon is offering this month.
All in all good experience. Excellent phone.
Just wish I could block app permissions..
-Wizzle
Okay experience for me. They price matched Verizon at $699 and gave me a $200 markdown and told me to keep my trade-in because it was easier for him to do it that way when purchasing at full price. Used BB credit card and now have $48 in points as well.
Best Buy DEBACLE with Note 4 Promotion
I too picked up my Verizon variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 yesterday at my local Best Buy here in Naples, Fl. After doing a considerable amount of research regarding the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 promotion (trade in "ANY" working smartphone and you are guaranteed a $200 rebate***. FINE PRINT - Trade-in value must be at least $10 or more) and then the Best Buy promotion (Trade-in "ANY" working smartphone and receive a $200 gift card. NOTE - Best Buy's definition of "ANY" working smartphone is at THEIR discretion). The whole promotion is a MESS!!!!
I was told by the general manager at my local store they would not accept a BRAND NEW product which was a FULLY functioning LG smartphone because it was not one of their acceptable trade-ins. At this point, I grabbed the counter display and read it word for word back to the GM. He stumbled and mumbled and all he could say was the Best Buy display was not correct and I would not be receiving my rebate ($200 gift card). I asked to speak to an executive at the Best Buy corporate HQ and he was hesitant to give me that number. As I was on the phone with the complaint department with HQ, the GM returns and tells me and the salesperson that apparently Best Buy has royally "screwed the pooch" by their incorrect and vague advertisement.
Long story short. I finally ended up receiving my $200 gift card but apparently at the time it was handed to me, a "panic'd" email had circulated to every Best Buy store in the country . So to all of you that pre-ordered a Galaxy Note 4 from Best Buy....DO NOT take NO for an answer if they tell you that you are not eligible to receive the $200 gift card. Be persistant and demand that they make good on their advertisemet (that is unless they have pulled all of the counter top displays that reads "ANY" working smartphone and does not have a value on it)
BB Experience
I also had a good buying experience at BB yesterday. I picked up the note 4 with the $200 trade in. The process was pleasant, and it took about 3-40 minutes.
We were there at 10 am Sharp, and they hadn't logged in our phones yet, so we never got or arrival pickup emails.
That said, picking them up was fine, except it data was almost maxed, and when I logged into my phone, it went nuts on play auto downloading all my apps. We put it on store WiFi right away, so that cured that issue.
The Samsung rep was great, and we also got 2 each of a Samsung canvas tote, travel mugs, flashlight, and a way cool pen with a pull out note4 feature banner!
We love our bb!
Great experience. Got the $200 trade in credit for an old Droid X2 I had. The bestbuy rep also gave me the additional $50 for your trade in even though the promo expired 10/18
I traded a blackberry tour and got the $200. Kept my iPhone 5 and ended up doing the edge plan. Same as I was paying now but I can upgrade every year. Not too bad.
I managed to get a 200$ gift card for trading in my original droid X. I knew that thing was worth keeping. Its been in a drawer for 3 years.
A few weeks ago I spoke to a Verizon rep and he said that I would be paying off the Note 7 until I decided to replace it in the exchange.
HOWEVER
Just a few days ago as I was looking at my Verizon bill that my Note 7 payments had disappeared. Surprised by this, I asked a rep in the chat about it -- they told me that my Note 7 was completely paid for (I didn't pay it, in fact, I put the minimum down and was making payments since). Has anyone else noticed this on their accounts? It's a nice surprise.
When I turned mine in, I found out that they never charged me for my replacement note.

That's interesting. I assume that's when mine occurred as well. Kind of funny because it just serves as an incentive for me to keep it!

I know, if I would've known that they didn't charge me I would have kept it.

Verizon said refund I did not ask for is on the way
Just got this from Verizon:
You should receive your check soon. View online
Your Samsung Galaxy Note7 refund has been processed.
We processed your refund due to the recent recall of your purchased Samsung Note7. You will receive a check in 2-3 weeks for the amount of $864.00, which includes the purchase price of the device, any purchased Note7 accessories, and any fees paid during your upgrade or exchange.
If you have not already upgraded your Note7, you qualify for special incentives when you upgrade to a new device. The easiest way to upgrade is online:
• Customers upgrading to another Samsung device will receive a $100 bill credit. Customers upgrading to any other device will receive a $25 bill credit. Credits will be applied to your bill in 1-2 bill cycles.
• Upgrade fees will be waived at checkout.
• Plus, all orders receive free 2-day shipping.
• For detailed instructions and FAQs, please visit: go.vzw.com/note7faq.
After your order is processed, you will receive a special recovery box to return your Note7. Please send us your Note7 at your earliest convenience.
I have had no communication with them and intend to keep my phone until next Note comes out. I guess if they send me a check and I don't cash it and don't use their return box, I'd be okay for a while. This is pretty aggressive I'd say.

Wow, this is interesting. Have you done anything that would make Verizon think that you're no longer using your Note 7? Also was this in an email or text? I've been getting intermittent texts about returning the phone, but they all say the same thing about the voluntary recall.
Just checked my verizon account, my line no longer shows a phone payment charge, just the line access charge. Interesting. Any way to take advantage of this situation? lol

I have kept a very low profile and done nothing to make them think I am returning it or not using it. I get the periodic stock text, but nothing like this. If I were to accept the refund, I would think they might be able to blacklist my IMEI, and it would seem logical if I receive payment I would not longer own the phone. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Thanks. I will. My current plan is to ignore the refund if they send it, as well as any return box they might send. I'll be horse that gets led to water, but I won't drink!
I got a note 7 right when the new batch released which I think was around September 21st and I've had mine since. As soon as the second recall was announced around Oct 10th Verizon wiped it clean from my account even though I still had it. It also showed my upgrade available so I got a Pixel XL which I then exchanged for the V20 and I still have the Note 7 as I type this. I even spoke with Verizon on the phone and the girl said my account shows no record of me having a Note 7, so I'm keeping it. I just use it as a wi-fi device now. If Verizon had any intentions of charging for the device they would have waited until it was returned before issuing any refunds or erasing from people's account.
i think you folks who bought them from Verizon are getting these freebies. i bought mine from a small affiliate store and am not seeing refunds.

Yeah I got my replacement the first day they were available -- this must when the payments were cancelled. Has anyone on Verizon with a note 7 not had their payments taken care of?
When the 2nd recall was announced verizon refunded me all the payments i had made and they gave me my upgrade back, i upgraded to the V20 and still have my note 7. Samsung sent me a box to send it back but i never did that was a month ago
i still have the og note 7. got it right before the recall hit in september. . as far as i can tell its free for me as well. i made one payment and was even refunded for that!! LoL
Long story, but here's the basics:
12/24/16
Ordered the 128GB Pixel XL through Verizon with the holiday promo ($20/mo) plus traded in a Galaxy S5 which for the holiday promo was another $11.67/mo off, making the final price $8.33/mo.
12/29/16
I chatted with Verizon to verify how the credits would be applied. They confirmed that it was two separate credits: one was the reduction from roughly $34/mo to $20/mo, and a second credit would be applied monthly that would be $11.67/mo. I had this transcript emailed to myself, thank goodness.
1/9/17
I found out the phone was backordered until March. I was not happy so I contacted Verizon via chat. They told me I could get the regular Pixel instead since this was an unusually long wait. I told them I wanted the same pricing as the holiday pricing since it was not my fault they were out of stock for so long (not to mention the guy who I ordered from on Christmas Eve made no mention of it being out of stock). They agreed and promised they'd honor the promo even though it was long done by this point. They said to just go pick up the Pixel I wanted and they'd manually adjust the price once I called back in.
1/10/17
Got my 128GB Pixel at full price (monthly payments though) from a local store. Only one store had it within 100 miles of my house! I called Verizon and the chaos begun. First, they claimed the Galaxy S5 was not a valid trade-in, despite the fact that the guy on the phone said it was and the online transcript I had emailed to myself showed that it was.
2/15/17
My Pixel has a defect (audio was awful) so I returned to Google and got a Google Play version back! Awesome!
3/29/17
After months of battling them... Hours and hours and hours of arguing (for a month they tried to "track down" the transcript where they told me the S5 was a valid trade-in)... Then they told me they never even GOT my S5 (which they did according to my tracking information)... Finally, a supervisor just said, "let's just give you the credit for the whole amount you're supposed to get" because they could not push through the monthly adjustments correctly. So I got a credit of ($31.24-$3.33)*24 = $669.84 on my bill yesterday!
So, my phone is essentially paid for (I paid roughly $80 now) and I have the unlockable Play Store Version!
I'm not sure how much of an advantage it is to have gotten the credit up front versus getting out monthly. How does that work with selling it or trading in? I still have to pay off the phone first... So I'm not sure how great that is but I do like getting basically 85% off a Play Store version!
no switch to google fi and only pay $30 a month. I am on wifi all the time so I am basically paying $35 or less a month. Its bad ass I had Verizon and they where great but I like my money more. Also I had a similar experience as you when I switched from Sprint to Verizon. Hours and hours on the phone and all I got was $100 off a bill. I hate calling anyone for issues its always the run around and several phone calls to get things situated. I have to call Century link and I am just dreading it. Every year I go through the same damn thing, so this year I had enough and decided to switch well they made me a deal so I said ok but they are not following though and now its costing me twice as much.

It's complicated... I'm on a family plan with a total of 7 lines. I pay roughly $55/mo for about 4 GB of data so it's actually a pretty great deal. Plus my wife is on this plan too and does not have a Fi-capable phone.
