Hard bricked while surfing on Chrome? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I would like to ask if anyone was in similar situation. I'm running the newest Pure Nexus rom. Everything was perfect till today. I was surfing on Chrome when phone restarted suddenly. And since that time it's in a bootloop. I tried to flash factory 6.0.1, 7.0, twrp and yet... nothing. Keeps bootlooping. Does it mean it's a hard brick? It's still under warranty though. I bought it from Best Buy on February, 2016. Man! I'm glad I haven't sold my Nexus 5. It's just so small.
Any ideas? Is it over?

@jamescable TRUTH!! With that being Said I would go back to full stock. I'm not sure of your method but I would use Nexus Root Toolkit v2.1.9 with a full wipe. The App will do it all for you. If that doesn't work then it's hardware related but at least it's back stock!

I can access fastboot and flash the newest factory image from Google. But can't get into recovery after flashing twrp nor do a full wipe. It keeps switching between unlocked bootloader warning and Google logo. No matter what I do. I'll try toolkit as you suggested after returning from work.

Ignore the warning, it scary but it's just warning you because the bootloader is unlocked even when flashing stock.

Yeah, I know. I mentioned it for reference. I'm getting stuck at Google logo no matter what I do. When I chose factory reset or recovery it gets stuck there. That happened yesterday while I was on chrome. Phone restarted without a reason and then it started.
I was on the newest PN. Then I flashed stock 7.0 and it's the same. I tried twrp and can't get into it as well.

Btw I'm using N5 temporarily and it's more zippy than 6P. I can't believe it lol.

Had you flashed the 7.1 dev preview by chance?
edit: Or Magisk? I'm aware of a few cases like this, but haven't been able to pin down any common factors yet...

Did you make any build prop edits?

T-mobile customers, which build are you on?

I guess google isn't going to send me the new update bc im stuck on the January security and the MMB29V build. Can I use Wug's toolkit to flash the MHCI9I that also give me the updated radio/baseband ?
I did have 2 updates when i unboxed and powered on few days ago but this is as far as it updated. Wondering which build everyone else is on via OTA
I am on tmobile as my carrier. Thanks, been a minute since I had a Nexus device
If your bootloader is unlocked, just flash the image from here using fastboot: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#angler. Make sure you read up on not losing your data when you do this. I usually flash all the img files one at a time, except userdata, don't flash that one. Don't need to flash cache. Don't flash recovery unless you're on stock recovery.
It will update your bootloader and radio.

Yea I'm aware I can manually flash the update but I actually also want to know if other tmobile customers are 3 updates back like myself.
I'll eventually just root, unlock and flash Pure nexus rom but for the time being I'm just gathering this info.
Not me. I am T-Mobile and rooted with no other special mods and I've been receiving the update notifications. Now I take measures to return my phone to stock when an update occurs before trying to apply it, but so far I am on the current March update

Hmm. Odd. I am bone stick right now and was just going to give it a week or so to populate and maybe push it out to me. The whole reason I picked up the 6p is bc I got tired of Samsungs lie and wait game with updates.
I recently just got a March update - probably last week.
I'm also T-Mobile and just got my phone a week ago, still on January security patch.

Can confirm, all downloaded and installing now. Took some quick keyboard work at work to use fastboot and flash back entirely to stock (recovery included) while signing up for the beta. Popped up instantly.
is this the new one ? or this is still the old beta ?
Installing also, looks that this is final build with changelog

If you are rooted with Systemless SuperSu you can still download the OTA as usual then install it with the Flashfire app rather than installing from the prompt. Worked for me anyway.

So, just tried to upgrade.
After half an hour of downloading and updating, it reached the point where the phone restarted itself, but all I saw is an open-android icon with a message "Error!" :/
Simply restarted the phone and back to 6.0.1. Unfortunately.

I've been holding it until the final release ... pushing the OTA now ...
"C:\Users\blabla\Downloads>adb sideload bullhead-ota-nrd90m-fdb8250a.zip
serving: 'bullhead-ota-nrd90m-fdb8250a.zip' (~56%)"
***Update: It finished, and working great so far! Since I pushed the OTA there was no need to reinstall any apps or restore app data. However, when I have some free time (2-3 hours), I'd like to do a fresh factory install to compare performance. I didn't run into any issues with the OTA yet.

Actually that's not true. It mostly depends from which DP you started receiving updates. eg. I clean installed DP5, which had some features removed (eg. night mode, and it's also missing from the final), whereas someone who started clean from DP1 will have it on the final. For the final I guess they were waiting to update the Google Apps, such as Connectivity Services which got updated after the final OTA.

I'll do it late tonight when I have time to spend doing a full wipe. I'm not looking forward to the fight to root it though. From what I understand, Google is cracking down on rooting.

It's really really really hard to root this phone. Fastboot flashing TWRP then flashing SuperSU in TWRP is tough. I don't know how I ever did it.
When someone that knows what they are talking about says Android is getting harder to root, they mean for those that initially find it (chainfire), not the user. For you and I, it's only a matter of flashing a cute little zip in our custom recovery.

I'd advise to wait on this.... especially if you try to flash back to 6.0.1, a lot of of had issues doing so and some have not been able to recover. I was able to thankfully, but something is definitely causing bootloops when reverting back -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/help/botched-nougat-install-phone-boot-loop-t3445709

That was a TWRP error. No need to worry about that.
As for the factory image - patience is virtue. :highfive:

Just Got Update
I just received Beta Version N-MR1 (NPF10C). Settings-About Phone shows Android Version 7.1.1. Support is listed as another heading under Settings.
Came thru over OTA, install went smooth, phone loaded smooth. Used the fancy new reboot button once, stuck in a boot loop. Recovery will not load either, just boot looping the google logo. Oddly cannot turn phone off in bootloader, it shuts down then starts itself up again to reboot loop, sorta funny yet annoying to have to flash back to 7.0 some bad karma here.
