Is my S7 Edge Overheating? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hello everyone,
My S7 Edge (SM-G935FD) (stock/not rooted)is getting warm enough to be not able to hold and use. I use CPU-Z app for checking the temp. All the high temp readings are from a non-AC room while updating apps from google play with nothing in recent apps. And the one last pic with lowest temp is while I'm in an AC room, updating apps.
I just bought this phone on 17th, and am scared of it being a defective piece.
Kindly Help.
Thanks in advance.

Maximum temp. of Galaxy S4

Dear S4 users,
Can you please tell me what is the maximum temp. achieved by your Galaxy S4. I am attaching screen shot of my S4 showing temp. 54C.
I request you to attach the screenshot also.
i had submitted my phone to service center as it is getting heated a lot but they have given it back to me saying it has no problems and it is workinf normal but it is not. Tomorrow I am going there again to resubmit it but before that i will need some screenshots to show them.
Hope you upload those ASAP.
had the phone for 6 days now and max temp i've reached is 51C
temp
mine gets HOT
highest I've seen is been is about 87 maybe 88 but 86 is my highest recorded temp.
the Galaxy S 4 is definitely the most reliable in my opinion.
I reached 75°C in while gaming. I think this is how the phone was designed, otherwise Samsung would have not released it. You can take it to as many services as you want, but they can't fix something that ain't broken.
Unless it's overheating for no apparent reason (like high temperatures when it is in stand-by) then you should just leave it be.
I9506 user here. I would not worry, the phone is fine.
I got past 80 while gaming, too. It also gets hot while doing lots of websurfing, especially on cellular data. I've had the phone for a year and a half and never ran into issues because of the heating, although it does tend to get really hot in the summertime.
Edit: I just realized that this is a VERY old topic...

[Q] Note 4 heating, hardware or software?

Hello everyone, I recently purchased a new note 4 St N910C. Just after a day of usage I felt that it is getting hot when I play games on it. I closed all the background apps even resetted it but still no luck. My phone is getting heated up near the camera area. My question is that is this a hardware issue or a software one, because if it is a hardware issue I should try and get it replaced, if a software one I should better wait for a lollipop update.
Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated
Thanks

It is completely normal that your phone gets hot around the camera since you are playing a game...What is the temperature you get while playing?
Would also like to know how hot your unit gets
when playing games. This is the unit that i am planning to get

Sorry for the late reply,
I installed a cpu temperature app, and it shows me that my cpu temperature is 36-38 degrees while playing games, also I noticed that after hearing up some of the games start to lag up a little. Any recommendations?

Well i bought this unit after along study of whether to get the exynos version or the snapdragon version, in my opinion I found the exynos to be better because many users suggested that this version does not heat up and works better, but now as I'm using it personally I think it heats up alot, the temperature I get is around 36-38 degrees.

Maybe that is normal when playing games with exynos.

Galaxy Note 4 heating [camera]
I purchased Galaxy Note 4 [SM-N910G] a week back. It's on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat)
I am having a different problem for which I could not find any satisfying solution on the Internet. Whenever I open camera app, the phone starts heating up near camera & battery also drains very quickly [around 2% under 5 min.]
I know that the phone will heat up a little bit when playing high graphics games, but I don't think it should heat up too much when using camera app.
I have already factory reset [both soft & hard reset] the phone, but still it does not help. I contacted Samsung support, & they told me to 'Reset app preferences' from Application manger, but still the device heats up when using camera app.
I also cleared data of the camera app, but still the issue remains
The phone does not heat up at all on standby mode, but opening camera app raises it's temperature more than it should. Previously a Note 2 user, this problem was not there.
Anyone else experiencing the same issue on Note 4 ? Any ideas on this ?
The phone heats up only if you're recording 4k or 2k video. If you use camera generally & your device heats up.You must get your device checked

You can factory reset all day, it won't help. Thats not a problem, the camera just uses a lot of processor power and thus generates heat. You can't change that, you have to live with it
My note 4 with ****y snapdragon heat like fire
I wanna replace it because of the overheating I can't something even hold it I put is always in freezer to cold it
With cpu temp app it gave me 60c even without games the :crying:best value was 40c but when I put it in freezer it down to 30c
And the weard thing that at the same time the cpu temperature app gave me 60c the cpu cooler app gave me 34c

Sorry, but do you have any idea about CPU temperatures? 60 isn't bad. 40 isn't bad. 30 isn't bad. Even 70° and occasionally 79° would be acceptable. Don't put your phone into the freezer, ity not good to freeze the hardware.. Especially if you literally have no problem. The CPU is prone to temperature fluctuations and your values are fully normal in the world of CPUs. There is no best value, everything up to 70° is the normal temperature variation. Your phone doesn't have a problem, its perfectly fine.
Mine actually heats up while charging and using at same time. Clean master shows 70-75°C cpu temperature while using browser and stuff but 80+ while gaming, that's not normal right? I'm worried cuz I always used my old phones while charging and they never got this hot, I feel like it will melt someday :/ In what temperatures exynos operates?
I got my SM-N910F yesterday and installed LP 5.0.1 via OTA. Temperatures are 40+ when the phone isnt doing anything. While I did the Antutu Benchmark, it was around 50-52 degrees (Celsius). Feels much warmer than my previous Note 3 (which of course never had LP). And since i am not used to this temparature on my Note 3, i kinda worry about the temps right now. I read a lot that many have that problem since LP update. So whats normal and what would be too high for regular usage (not using Camera or playing Games) ? Is there an average i can go by and compare ?
And whats my alternatives now if I want lower temps , go back to 4.4.4 Stock Rom (currently have LP 5.0.1 Stock) or do I try a 5.x Custom ROM . Did the Custom ROMS fixed these heating problems or is that just something I have to live with ?
Thanks for any help.

Look 2 replied higher, already wrote something aboht that
My old G3 used to sit at 50 degrees idle!, 30 and 40 degrees is cool!!!!!!
Just do a Factory Reset (hard reset)
First backup everything & Google for detail instructions on hard reset.

Sure that makes all the difference ? I read a lot of posts from people saying that a factory reset didnt really solve their problems. Do you know for sure it will help ?

Edge+ Overheating?

Hey all!
Yesterday I acquired an s6 edge plus through Verizon. I've noticedone almost immediately that it gets very warm. I checked the temperatures and at its hottest it was at about 170 degrees farenheit. I haven't gotten any overheating warning messages and it hasn't shut off, but obviously I paid a pretty penny for this bad boy so I'm a little concerned. Any input would be great. I'm also attaching a screenshot of what seems to be the normal use operating temperatures.
Thanks guys!

Mine keeps fairly cool. Didn't notice any head yet. Well... while installing all my apps a little bit but that's just normal like on any other device.
I suggest you return your device to get a replacement.
I know... that's not what you want to hear. It sucks.
No heat at all on my phone literally at all I had it on fast wireless charge for hours too didn't heat up at all. Much better than my note 4

If it's brand new there's usually a hell of a lot of activity with updates and media scanners, installations and wot not. It will get very hot during this time. Give it a day to settle down. Mine got warm at this point and now fine.

i've played a few games, had multi-tasking a lot and didn't notice any "overheating" only the normal temp
Thanks for the input guys. Today it seems to be just fine. I restarted it last night and it has been good ever since. Maybe I'm just worrying about nothing. I just do not want anything to happen to my baby
I also had my s6 edge + get very hot and wondered why no shutdown or warning.
Well I'm a little concerned about mine, I was playing a simple game, and after that I went to a program the temperature it's around 55 Celsius on the cpu isn't that to much? And the battery around 36

That is good news. If it starts to happen again, maybe check your battery stats to see what programs are using the most battery. It might help you figure a particular app that might be hammering the CPU.
The last thing I would do is a factory reset; after which wait a day or so for everything to settle down, and if you are still having that problem take it back.

S7 edge - System_server CPU usage

Hey guys,
Long time Android user/rooter, just moved from the note 5 to the S7 edge.
Picked up a new S7 edge from Swappa and I'm seeing very high cpu usage (constant 20-25%) from system_server on firmware Pd2 with a fresh reset.
Any suggestions to get this down to acceptable levels?
I'm not rooted yet, but may root soon, I am on totalwireless so I doubt I receive any system updates from them.
I am so happy you just posted this because I'm having the exact same issue I already tried reflashing it....
Are you also having issues with your cell phone service sticking??? I lose service and I have to make a phone call to reconnect

Gets Hot on Left Side Below Bixby Button?

Hi Everyone,
I recently got my S10+ and if i'm using the camera a bit while listening to music, I find the left side getting warm and even hot right below the Bixby Button, no other apps running to my knowledge.
Is this normal?

I had a oneplus 6 before and it never got hot when doing simple tasks, only after taking lots of photos, the camera module would get warm (normal) or when gaming (normal). It seems to get hot just using bluetooth buds and taking a few photos. So everyones will get warm in that area after a bit of regular use?
Could it be the battery calibrating? I saw someone mention it might get warm in the beginning but go away after a few days?

If my memory serves me right that is the location on the heat pipe on the s10 plus does not explain why it's getting hot but that's why it's in that area. The cpu is situated close to that spot too. I
On the oneplus the cpu is located at the top so when holding the phone the heat is at the top so you cannot feel it as much could be the reason .

I don't use the camera much so cannot speak for that but I do play pubg mobile and other games on it and the heat can be felt in that area. There is always a little more heat there compared to the rest of the phone even under normal use. Most phones use the phones body to help disperse heat as they don't have fans I think it is more likely this than an issue with the phone. Are you recording with the camera or just taking photos with it ?
OP, you need to come up with some numbers in regards to what temp the battery or CPU is at .
First thing I noticed with the s10+ is that it feels warmer in the hands than my previous galaxy devices, note 9, note 8, so etc. Its the frame and material design that I believe to be the case for better heat dissipation and faster CPU.

I can try to attach a photo later, what i've seen after installing an app to monitor cpu heat, is roughly around 110 F for the CPU, sometimes even when i'm not using it, the battery will be a bit under 100 F. Is this normal? I also noticed uusuallly more than half the ram is being used even when it seems I have no apps open.

Try wiping your phone factory reset and or if you have sd card remove that first. Use Aida64 to post screen shots of battery temps etc.
