I am a style user for a year almost the mobile though great it has some screen issue for me. 1st device when I bought it had screen bleeding problem which I got replaced . After two months dead pixel I got screen replaced under warranty, now after security update patch touch pad stopped working got it replace under warranty but my warranty expires next month so I was wondering is it better for me to get rid of it around 200$ or should i risk it as future screen problem my warranty wont cover.
If I were you with 4 screen replacements in a year, I would dump it like a hot potato and get an Axon 7 with ZTE's Passport 2.0 warranty program.
With the luck you have had with the model, I would dump it. I know the twin, the Pure, I can purchased the extended 1 extra year warranty for ~$20 (provided it is purchased prior to original warranty running out) and it is a $15 per warranty claim for the 2nd year. Won't do it though as I see little value to it.

I bought a G1 when it first came out from a friend. This past weekend it got ran over by a car and the screen cracked.
So...
Craigslist had a G1 for sale. He bought it 3 weeks ago and dropped it the other day. The phone will power on but the screen only shows a dim black/gray color and sometimes a line of color will show.
My question is.... if I buy the CL phone can I claim the warranty from HTC?
Not if TMO doesnt have it on record that you purchased a G1 later than October 22nd last year. Without any record, the warranty would assume to be expired as of that date this year. You could always send it in to HTC for repair tho or look for spare parts and fix it but sounds like a waste to me...
Could always try wiping that phone from CL and see if it fixes anything...good luck with that
Also, the warranty does not cover physical damage caused by owner/operator.
So the dropped phone isnt covered even though its only a month old?
And if I bought the phone the warranty wouldn't come with it anyways?
warranty covers manufacturer defects: unresponsive keys or screen, bad radio, excessive random reboots, etc. dropping and busting your phone is where the phone insurance is used.
i plan on selling my nexus one soon. its over a month old. i still have the original packaging and packaging slip/receipt. there are a couple specs of dust underneath the screen. will the person who buys the phone from me be able to do an exchange/fix with htc?
Although HTC's warranty states it's non-transferable, I had my second hand G1 covered under warranty for a dead pixel last year. However, why don't you just get it swapped out now before you sell?
Is broken, and out of warranty. Where can I buy the part? The soft-fix sucks.
Thanks
Mine was broken and out of warranty as well. Called HTC.. they charged $55 including two way shipping done in 10 days...
How did you live without a phone for 10 days?
I have 2 backup phones...
Anyway, on the subject of power buttons, beware buying refurbished ones on ebay. I've bought 1, didn't work, and he sent a replacement which worked for a day. You would want a newer one, that has the little foam piece stuck to it, one of my n1s had it.

I had mine fixed outside of warranty for the same $55. Alas 2 months later it's failed again. The warranty repair is covered but what a hassle to have to send the phone back again to be repaired. I wonder what sort of parts they are using?
As noted the software fix is not to everybody's taste because it doesn't appear to work if you have a PIN on the phone. And why I am not paranoid about security, I need a PIN on the phone if I want to connect to my works Exchange server. The Activesync software enforces some local security policy on the phone.
I just hope HTC are not responsible for making the new Nexus phone. This phone has not been a happy experience for me, despite it being the native Googl experience.
I have a HD2 and I am extremely happy with the device. Problem is I bought it on 20th October 2010 after the death of my last HD2 due to water . And since then the phone has had it's screen replaced once and PCB replaced once. Now, the PCB is going to have to be replaced again. Which is why I was wondering should I push through for a replacement given that I have just one more month left in warranty or would it not be worth the hassle?.. Any opinion would be honestly appreciated.
Since it is under warranty, you should replace the PCB. And sorry for your water damaged HD2.Did you try and revive it?
I did.. Try many methods I think it was my fault I tried to turn it on too soon =(.. I did send an email to HTC support here stating that my phone has had 3 major hardware failures and I don't trust this device because had the phone been out of warranty I would've have had to pay much more than the price of the device :O.. So, let's see what they say lol
So back in December 2014 I bought my sgp-351 from the sony store along with the extra coverage for getting my tablet fixed or replaced for an additional 2 years after the factory 1 year warranty expires -
Fast forward to last month my tablet wont charge any more so I contact sony about the issue and the response is we do not warranty repair any tablets anymore, so they they basically said keep the tablet and if you can restore it and that fixes the problem that is great but we are going to send you a check for $629.00 which I received after 3 weeks even though they said 6 weeks.
I also was able to get it to charge it enough finally to do a restore which fixed the charging issue, so if anyone has an extended sony warranty on the Tab Z I am just putting this info out there get your money back now since they wont fix it if it goes bad on you and the check is basically sony's way of giving you a free replacement and otherwise you are sitting on a warranty that you can not use -
You can do with it what you will and ymmv
