Copy Firmware using samsung smartswitch or kies? - Samsung Galaxy Core Prime Questions & Answers

Hello people. I am trying to get my firmware copied of my Galaxy Core Prime to create a pre-rooted firmware to flash via Odin.
The reason I underlined create is because I've tried looking for my firmware in a good few places (sammobile, samsung-updates,and the xda forums themselves) and I can't find mine, this is my first time trying to root a 5.1.1 device might I add.
So, I was wondering if i could utilise Samsung smart switch or Kies to copy my firmware from the backup function.
My phone isn't rooted and the firmware is G361FXXU1APB1.
Should I post this in the Galaxy Core Prime section? Because this isn't all related to my phone.
Any response would be appreciated.

Updating the Galaxy Tab to the latest firmware !

Hey guys
I'm running the P1000JXJJ1, FroYo JPJJ2 firmware on my Tab, and samfirmware states P1000JVJL1 is the latest one !
so I was advised NOT to use KIES, and ODIN was better !!
My tab is rooted with OCLF set, Just a quick question, Odin will delete all my data and also I believe that I'd have to re-ROOT the device right?
another question is since I didn't have market out of the box, the product sales code has been changed to XSG.
thanks a lot guys in advance
Cheers
Jackie
if u use oclf, undo oclf b4 update firmware, kies or odin works fine for me, i'll only use odin when i screw up with my tab
and will I have to re root the device and also will ODIN delete all my data?
Hi,
searching for something else I accidentily found this thread.
Maybe my experince might be of any interest: got the galaxy tab 3 days ago, installed KIES and instantly got a message to update the firmware to Froyo JK5. I followed the suggestion to save my data which I regret later, because it took very long (had already copied a lot of videos to the internal sd) and couldn´t stop it. To cut it short:
the update was successful and nothing deleted, just everything in place. Also synchronized Outlook contacts, though at 96% it got stuck - waited a few minutes, then broke up and all contacts had been transferred fine.
(don´t know, if firmware is different for other countries...)
Odin will not delete your data if you did not choose to repartition, no need to use pit file to repartition if you are just upgrading fw from the same region..safest is still via KIES
To correct some mis-information from above. Flashing with Odin can delete your data, it depends on what components are included in the image you flash. If you flash an official ROM with Kies you should not loose your data but there is always a risk of an issue occurring during any flash that could lead to data loss. Unless you flash a pre-rooted custom ROM you will loose root and SU during a flash. These can be re-applied easily to the SGT using the Super One-Click method.
Redardless of what flashing method you use, if you use RyanZA's OCLF you must undo the lag fix before you flash, otherwise you will certainly loose data and possibly end up with a corrupt system that won't boot (I had first hand experience of this early on in my flashing days with my SGS!). You shouldn't really need to apply a lagfix to the SGT as it doesn't seem to suffer from the same lag as the SGS.
Finally, flashing with Odin can lead to product code being changed, especially if the ROM you flash isn't intended for the normal product code of your device. There are various ways to restore your poduct code, look in the Samsung Galaxy S forums for suggestions on how to do this as the basic construction of the ROMs is very similar between the two devices from that point of view. Also, be aware that people with SGS devices have reported loosing their IMEI while flashing with Odin. If this happens you will end up with a WiFi only device unless you backed up your /efs folder before you flashed. There's lots of info in the SGS forums about this and it's worth a read if you are new to flashing. I haven't heard of anyone with a SGT loosing their IMEI yet but it's worth taking precautions.
Happy flashing folks!!
thanks a bunch guys, I'm now running the latest version !!
was just trying to install the latest gingerbread theme from the forums !! will let you all know how that went

Go to the Android Development section.
Look up Overcome and BOCA for the Galaxy Tab. Both a great however I prefer BOCA. The current release is 2.3.4 but 2.3.7 is in the works.
If you follow the instructions for BOCA you will have a GTab that feels like it was newly born again.

Yes. Follow the instructions on the magrathea site or overcome
Use overcome instructions to instal stock GB 5. It tells you the pit and modem to use for your tab.
Then install the overcome kernel and reboot. It will root the tab and format the storage.
Then you install the Boca zip over the overcome kernel.
If you just want overcomes Rom follow their instructions. They make it simple

is that all??hmm,
will try donload all the files 1st,then i will try
thanks guyz for da info..
so i dont need to flash stock rom like i always do with my SGS before installing any custom rom?

[Q&A] [Guide][Root] Root Samsung Galaxy Core Prime G360H

Q&A for [Guide][Root] Root Samsung Galaxy Core Prime G360H
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [Guide][Root] Root Samsung Galaxy Core Prime G360H. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Rooting SM-G360H
Thank you very much for the SM-G360H guide.
This is my experience:
I downloaded #1 Odin v3.09 and #2 Root Kernal. After doing everything in the video, the Odin program showed Pass, but at this stage I wasn't rooted. I downloaded #3 iRoot (the .exe for Windows not the apk) and ran that, and I was then rooted (eg, I could use Titanium Backup). Great, Thank you.
Issues:
1. When rebooting my phone, on the screen that shows Samsumg Galaxy Core Prime during reboot, I have a red exclamation mark (!) in the top left corner. This disappears as the boot process continues. Can you tell me what this is... is it an indication that the phone is rooted? There are many threads on how to get rid of it as well as a red triangle, but is it necessary?
2. As mentioned above I downloaded 3 programs. I'm not sure which one caused an additional program to be installed which took over my browser preferences (IE and Firefox), which I could not eliminate via normal program removal. The home page changed to ww,omniboxes, com and seemed to be stuck somewhere in the registry. I had to revert to a previous image of my Windows OS. So watch out for this.
Suggestion:
May be you could include links to the best place to download the 3 files/programs in order to avoid virus/registry entries on PC.
Do you know if there is a CWM or TWRP for our SM-G360H phone?
Thanks.
the red warning mark shows that your system and device has been modified....
means warrany is void ..
but you can flash stock rom via odin and warning mark will be gone.....
and ur phone will be unrooted......
cwm
kindly make cwm
It worked for me .
but a little red exclamation mark appear when I turn on the phone .
Anyway , it seems Universal unroot doesn't work to unroot this device
rooting sm g360h duos
why is step 2 and 3 necessary?
do i need to uninstall the extra's that are installed on the phone by iroot? (as mentioned in other videos? see: How to Root any Android Device in less than 5 minutes with IROOT [HD] on youtube)
are there any risks on leaving those files installed?
thanks in advance!
G360F
Hey do you know if that works on G360F too? I'm guessing it would but since im kinda new to the whole rooting the phone thing i'd be far less concerned if i could get the opinion from someone who has actually done it before
no it will not work for sm g360f.
360f is differnt....it is 4g model with single sim and with snapdragon.

I've tried several methods (frameroot, vroot, etc.) but it won't work.
The phone is on 4.4.4 Kitkat right now. Any help, please?

Samsung galaxy core prime rooting
i have followed all the steps in the rooting of my phone.
i ended up with a chines app installed that is useless and i dont know if my phone is corrupted, virus infected....????
i installed a super user on the android device samsung galaxy core prime, but i am now lost on what more to do.
all the software provided seems to point to a chinese product with no english version.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows how to root a core prime sm-g360g?
(I would make my own thread but I can't for some reason)
So far I have tried Kingroot iRoot (apk and PC) and towelroot, I have also tried the Odin methods for the other models without success (because of the firmware difference). I have a clean copy of the 4.4.4 firmware if any files are needed from that.
Kind regards

Hi ! Have been a student of xda dev a long time. New to this though, thanks for all your previous help. I just bought the new Metro Samsung Galaxy Core Prime sm-g360t1 running lollipop 5.1.1. I still can not find a root method or app that will work, any help there?

[Q] Looking for Root for SM-G530AZ

Looking for a root for the Cricket branded Galaxy Grand Prime (SM-G530AZ). Although all the root methods I have found pertaining to the Grand Prime say they are compatible with the SM-G530H and all it's variants, I can't get it to work. Every time I try flashing through ODIN, I get a failed message, and the phone freezes. Battery pull is the only way to reset it.
Android Version 4.4.4
Baseband Version: G530AZTUU1AOC1
Build Number: KTU84P.G530AZTUU1AOC1
I have seen one member on previous Grand Prime root threads that claims to have had success with the Cricket version. If anyone has any insight, or has had any luck, please let me know.

Does the G530AZ variant have Custom recovery? if it has you can just flash supersu zip thru cwm or twrp. I have G530H it works for me.

UPDATE - SUCCESSFULLY ROOTED SM-G530AZ!
Please read this post carefully if you wish to root your SM-G530AZ Cricket branded Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime phone. The file linked in the original post of this thread does NOT work with this particular model number!
Note: I cannot post links yet since I have not yet hit 10 posts (this is some kind of anti-spam measure I assume) so the link to the file I mention is (please fix the URL by removing spacing; the URL has no spaces in it): http : // download1031 . mediafire . com/1gu77v6t67sg/8mn3f1ppmkxk94b/SM-G530H-4.4.4.zip
Anyway, there was no answer to my question, as I'm impatient and cannot wait longer than a day, so I took the plunge and decided to try the root flash file listed here. The "1_cfroot_sm-g530h_mohan.tar.md5" provided in this thread did NOT work. Odin reported the following:
Upon power-cycling my phone by way of battery removal and insertion I found that the device would not boot. Thankfully, prior to trying this, I had done quite a bit of searching and remembered an alternate root image for the Grand Prime G530H called "SM-G530H-4.4.4.zip". It is available at (see link in NOTE above; you can also find it by Googling it I believe). At this point I figured it could not hurt anymore to try another image so I launched the device back into Odin mode and used the CF-Auto-Root.tar file included in the ZIP file.
I stopped yelling and screaming in anger because -- it worked! After updating the firmware Odin then restarted the phone three times. During the restarts, the pane in Odin's window above the "ID:COM" pane was grey and was labeled "RESET". After the third reboot the phone launched into Android. I then went into the Applications window on the phone and found "SuperSU". The phone was indeed rooted! Shortly after I launched SuperSU, the "RESET" label in Odin turned from grey to green and changed to "PASS!". I unplugged and plugged back in my phone so that I could use the Android SDK "adb" tool in Mac OS X (I ran Odin 3 from a Windows 7 virtual machine in VMWare Fusion) and launch a shell on the phone. To confirm all was well with my root access I typed "su" in the shell, confirmed authorization for the process when SuperSU prompted me, and there I was -- root!
And, for completeness, here is the Odin v3 output of my successful flash using CF-Auto-Root.tar located in SM-G530H-4.4.4.zip:
In summary:
The particular SM-G530H root firmware file linked by the OP in this thread will NOT work with a Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime SM-G530AZ model phone ("Cricket" wireless company branded). Instead, use the CF-Auto-Root.tar located in the SM-G530H-4.4.4.zip located at (see link in NOTE at top of this post).
Anyway, thank you for the post OP, and to whomever created both the firmware images (even though the first one failed on me!) for all the hard work you put in. You are the lifeblood of this community!

You're good. Just sounds like you are stuck in download mode. Try pulling your battery out. If that doesn't work, do a battery pull, and instead of powering up normally, press Volume Up, Home, and Power at the same time. This should allow you to do a factory reset.
If that still doesn't work, you're looking at flashing stock firmware through Odin. Very simple if you can follow instructions. There are many guides on this site that walk you through using Odin.

SM-G530AZ fix
I had the same problem with galaxy sm-g530az.
Put the phone into recovery mode.
Connect the phone to computer usb
Update phone with adb at the same time as you open Samsung kies.
If both are done at the same time Samsung kies will get a huge update. After it is done you should have Samsung kies lite. Use the firmware upgrade and initialisation process. It might still tell you it can't recognize the phone the first time or two. Just keep trying a couple times it will recognize the phone and complete the process.
Good luck

Samsung s7 edge Rooted HELP!

My Samsung galaxy s7 edge (G935F) Is stuck in a boot loop and doesn't have an OS installed. Bit unsure what to do. I have tried installing a stock rom and for some reason when I try to copy a zip file to team win TWRP,(and I have MTP enabled) my laptop says this device has either stopped or isn't taking files? Anyone with any ideas please respond and don't tell me try take it to Samsung and ask for a fix cuz I tried that and they said we don't fix rooted stuff. I took it to a phone shop once and they said try flashing a custom rom with Odin. Reply here with any ideas! Thanks!
hey and welcome to xda!
the best and easyiest way is to start new - flash your firmware with ODIN - that will work in every situation!
You need to download stock firmware and start afresh. Stock firmware is the image of the official firmware that came (or updated officially) with your device.
Go to Sammobile and select model number and then your country. Since you didn't mention your country, here's the link that will directly land you to your G935F firmwares: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7-edge/SM-G935F/
Once you select country, you can read instructions on how to flash the image with Odin (link is also provided there).
Hope this helps Please feel free to ask any query. Happy Flashing!
