Recently, i rooted my samsung galaxy quattro gti8552 and flashed a custom rom.
Now i am working on my brother's samsung wave gts8500 running on Bada 1.2. I updated firmware to Bada 2 through Kies.
I read many posts/threads about custom roms for Bada. But I am confused whether gts 8500 needs to be rooted first for flashing a custom rom.
Do i need to root gts8500 first and then flash a rom? OR i can flash a new custom rom without rooting?
can flash without rooting
Thanks a lot for your reply
First of all...bada is not android...it can't be rooted
flashing fota to load android doesn't require anything
Best Regards
Thanks for explaining

Please try the following guide:

It has pictures and everything and is explained in perfect detail
When it is rooted, you can start changing your ROM.
Greetz
After rooting the phone you can install "NSCollab-1.0.50"
build # GWK74...which the only rom so far working perfectly on this model....
I also have tried several roms ....non or the Nexus S rom working on this....several Nexus s 4g are being installed but the problem is baseband...u will get no reception...
No. Re read and learn what you're doing first. If there is a step you don't get ask in q and a.
And roms where fine for the gsm models. And you don't need root access to flash a rom. Just unlocked bootloader and custom recovery.
If your intention is to flash a different rom from stock there is no need to bother rooting stock rom.
Dear Community,
Let me get my specs out of the way and then i'll ask my question.
I've got a rooted AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4,
Running Android 4.2.2
Build Number
I've followed the guides for rooting MF3 s4 devices, and can verify that i'm rooted via Titanium Backup and other SU requests I am able to allow.
My question is where to head next to learn any method of actually installing a custom ROM onto my device.
I have asked this question in a number of forums where i've learned to successfully root my device, but have only received responses akin to, "not possible"
but why? or is this not true? and where would one check daily to see when a method is developed to install a custom ROM?
Thanks for your help!!
Cheers
I'm going looking into flashing a custom ROM on my sister's i337m (on Rogers) . Currently it is on Lollipop OTA update, and she says that ever since the update it has been super slow and laggy. I told her i can flash a custom ROM and it should be much better performance (in my experience good custom roms can provide much better performance than stock firmware in most cases).
I'm not familiar with the S4 specifically but have been using custom ROMs myself on various other phones so i generally familiar with the procedures involved. Just want to ask for advice on a couple points.
1) From what i've read so far i am trying to decide between Goldeneye and Kangapop. both seem to be pretty solid options. I noticed in the install instructions for both it mention that the i337m useres need to have 4.4.2 baseband and bootloader. Is there any specific one that works better than others i see a few different stock versions of 4.4.2 for i337m Rogers on sammobile (MG1, NC1, NE1, NI2) I am currently downloading the most recent NI2. Just not sure if specific versions have any bugs, flaws or advantages/disadvantages to worry about..
2) I figured while i'm going to have to downgrade the firmware to install the custom ROM i might as well try the Root/Unlock procedure from this thread . Is this still working? I think i would need to flash the stock NI2 firmware then follow the procedure in that thread to root and unlock the phone then from there i could install Goldeneye or Kangapop? Has anyone done this or can confirm if it should work this way.
Thanks
Hi all,
Thanks in advance.... I had my Note 3 since it was launched and I think it's high time I root it & try to use it with custom built rom as the original standard rom is getting out dated & sluggish.
I read a few threads about rooting this phone and the more I read, the more confuse I got as I am not sure which is the best way to do it now.
So, if there is any kind hearted soul out there, can you point me the right direction to which thread or way that is best for rooting my Note 3.
Lastly, which custom Rom that is currently best in terms of stability? I prefer rom that is as clean as possible without those bloatwares or unnecessary apps that usually comes standard on the original rom.
My unit should be international model as it is not tied to any Telco, I am in Malaysia.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you
Flash TWRP custom recovery .
Use Supersu zip to root if needed .

If you intend to use a custom ROM, there is no need to root the phone before flashing the custom ROM if you install TWRP first.
Confirm the model # of your phone in download mode before flashing TWRP as Samsung made several models of the Note 3.
Thanks so much guys, great stuff, at least there is something I can look forward to do this Christmas break....
Thanks again... Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all!

Hi, so what you are saying is if I install the right copy of TWRP first, it will do the rooting as well & put in the supersu for me?
Thanks again.
What I mean is that there is no need to root the existing stock rom with supersu if you intend to go straight to a custom ROM after flashing twrp.
Flashing supersu with twrp is needed to get root on a stock rom if you intend to stay with a stock rom.
Hello everyone, someone among all those present and absent could inform us of how to revert to the official OREO firmware to a G950F with TWRP and OREO custom Rom ????.
I guess the first step would be to flash a stock recovery and remove the root since it seems that the error is given first by the custom recovery and maybe also the supersu.
This problem we have many users of the S8 that, for trying or for not being satisfied with the custom rooms we want to return to the official romm.
Any advice is appreciated in advance.:fingers-crossed:
Since this topic does not have any "solver", I had no choice but to try to solve it myself and at this moment I have installed the OFFICIAL version G950FXXU4CRJ5_G950FOXM4CRJ3_PHN which is the last one to date from the Samsung ovens.
The only necessary material is the file "] "RMM-State-Bypass.zip" flashed with the TWRP after having deleted the root. That is the solution that has allowed me to return to the official Rom.
you can download your version on the internet if you search and flash it with Odin....look at S8 Guides etc...
