ATT S7 breaks after ATT update - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

Hi, Since I have rooted my S7, I get an att update and when I apply it the update fails and random apps start crashing. Then when I reboot i get stuck on the att logo with the phone vibrating and have to fully wipe the phone in recovery. This happens almost every week and i do not know what to do.

Don't attempt to install any software updates while rooted, it won't work. Disable the AT&T Software Update app with Package Disabler to prevent your issue from happening again.

4.2.2. update stuck on rebooting now

Hey guys,
I'm on stock but with root. My phone doesn't reboot after the OTA update. Is this because I'm rooted?
Just to clarify - it's the system update app that doesn't work. It counts down to 0, then... nothing. Phone is usable, the updater doesn't reboot to update.
Same happened to mine (not rooted) I had to flash back to 4.2.1 and wipe data/cache to get my phone to start up. Then it ran the system update again and got stuck in the same loop. I'm sticking with 4.2.1 for now.

Just flash the whole 4.2.2 rom from here https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/occam-jdq39-factory-345dc199.tgz and reroot.

I did that, and go the same loop as when I did the OTA; I had to go find an archive of the 4.2.1 ROM and flash that to get it to start up (even flashing many times and wiping user/cache).
I'm going to try sideloading the 4.2.2 update when I have time
Thanks, I'll try that zip. Just to clarify - my phone isn't even installing the update. It's not stuck on the black Reboot screen, it's stuck on the countdown screen where you tap REBOOT & INSTALL. So essentially the phone is usable.. the updater just doesn't seem to work

That's not where mine is stuck, mine won't boot past the X logo
My Nexus 7 won't go past the "rebooting now" too. The tablet is usable but it never finishes the update. I have power cycled and started over but no luck. Is there a way to clear the update cache so it re-downloads the update?

Hiya! Did you ever find an answer?
I'm on 4.2.2 stock system for sph-l720, rooted, used triangle away and tried to get update 4.3 to install.
***Do I need to unroot to get samsung/sprint updates? The update keeps appearing but all progress from "android system update" stops after download verified, then the "rebooting now" step goes forever. Like OP, phone works fine, just wanted to update so I get best of newer apps, then back to customizing :fingers-crossed:

After 4.3 update, phone reboots whenever i log in

The phone received the OTA update this afternoon. After it was updated, every time I try to swipe in at the lock screen, the phone reboots. Based on the lock screen, I can see the phone works just fine. There's notifications, I can scroll to the lock screen widgets and I can even answer phone calls.
The phone was stock/rooted prior to the update. What to do?
Same. Update seems to have finished, bootloops after inputting user password to unlock screen. It's a short boot right back to the password screen again.
Was stock, rooted, unlocked, 4.3 was OTA update

I was having miscellaneous issues after the 4.3 update as well. I'm starting to think that some of these people who insist on un-rooting your phone prior to system updates might have made a good point. I don't use a lock screen, but I couldn't uninstall any applications or the phone would reboot. Even trying to modify some of the settings would force reboot as well.
I ended up giving up on it and wiping it / flashing 4.3 stock. If anyone is reading this and hasn't updated to 4.3 yet, I would suggest unrooting your phone, but keeping an unlocked bootloader before updating (the update will break root anyway... and OTA Rootkeeper doesn't work). To get root back use TWRP to load SuperSU and you should be back in business.

I got really lucky somehow, in getting the phone to work and managing to keep my data.
I don't remember every step in order, as I'm sure lots of them didn't do anything, but eventually I just reflashed every part of the factory images EXCEPT userdata.img as I (correctly?) figured that would erase my ****.
Wiped cache a few times from recovery as well.
Had a couple scares - at one point the LED turned RED during a couple bootup attempts.
First time after the 3rd round of flashing (including system.img) it would not boost past the X. Had to wipe cache in recovery again.

[Q] S4 rebooting after OTA

Hi!
Today I got a notification that there was an OTA ready. After installing the OTA my S4 keeps rebooting. It only works for 5-10 seconds and then it reboots. Not a complete reboot though, I don't have to type my pin again I just get the blue-purple ring and the samsung logo.
I've tried booting into recovery and did a factory reset but it still reboots:crying:
My S4 is the international version and it is completely stock and not rooted.
What do I do?
Thanks
EDIT: I started from scratch without importing apps and settings from google at it seems to have done the trick

S5 Verizon randomly restarting

So, I bought an unlocked and used Verizon s5 from eBay running lolipop 5.0 and my friend rooted it with king-root via Odin so I could remove some installed bloatware other then that it was a stock rom. It was fine for a month approx the Verizon pushed a voice mail app/message update and now my s5 randomly reboots, gets caught in boot loops and earlier was getting "system process inst responding", and battery power changes from charged to low levels.
I have taken my sd card, taken out and reinserted the battery (only have one so cannot try a new one), wiped cache for recovery menu and even factory reset the install king-root app one touch root. any help would be appreciated.
Random reboots normally mean kernel errors same as blue screen of death on windows so I would recommend reinstall official lollipop firmware via odin then Reroot

Phone freezing at provider Logo, Was working fine. Bricked?

So i have a Verizon S7 Edge, I switch providers to Cricket (AT&T) and was having issues with signal, read somewhere flashing the AT&T version of firmware to it would help, It did, So i went ahead and rooted it aswell.
Was working fine for a week, until now... I was trying to open Authy to login to Github and it kept crashing, after the 4th try i restarted my phone (i have done this before) Now everytime it gets to the end of the AT&T boot screen it just freezes, I have tried restarting it and running is 'safe mode' still does the same.
I am charging it right now and i am going to "TRY" a factory reset.
Anyone have any ideas why this happend? Its really annoying because now i have to wait to recover my Authy.
Phone runs Android 6, never got the update so i may try flashing that if i get my phone working again...
