Hi, I won't have my pc back for some time and was curious if there was some way to root it without Odin?
I have another rooted phone so was curious if I could connect mini USB to mini USB and use some kind of odin like tool for flashing?
Thanks in advance

I have a rooted stock AT&T GT 7, and it doesn't connect to the PC no matter what I do, not as a hard drive, not through Kies, nothing. It charges, provided I plug the cable (with OEM wall plug) into the Tab while the screen is turned off (otherwise if screen is on, the wall connection registers as a red x like a data connection). SO I can charge it... but I can't connect to the PC.
Like I said, it's rooted.. is there a way to flash a custom ROM without being connected to the PC? As in using an SD card to bring files to the Tab and doing everything that way?
CWM. If you never flashed it then no, you're screwed.

Did you try a different pc?
Did you check applications >development >USB debugging?
maybe there is something wrong with the cable, try different one
try connecting it with download mode while you are running odin, if odin recognized it then your problem is solved, flash any kernel with CWM (overcome) then you can continue flashing system from sdcard using CWM

Wifi copy with ES Explorer or another. Then just boot into CMW. If no CMW then use mobile Odin to flash files via the Odin/heimdall method.

take out the sd card and use it directly to your pc with an adapter and copy the files then put it back to the tab and flash it?

Except... there's no response from WinXP when I plug in... no "dun-DUN!".... I strongly suspect the cable and ordereda replacement from Ebay yesterday; I should have it by Monday or Tuesday.

Hmmm.... "or another" you mean like Root Explorer? I have Root Explorer and am quite comfortable using it... what is mobile Odin? And is there a way to out CWM on without cable?
I really hope it is just the cable... I have a current full warranty on this thing, but that will be a major hassle.
Hi guys.
Today I tried to unroot my phone and put it like factory to do the lollipop upgrade but I can't do it.
I used Super SU to completely remove root and do a factory reset using the key combination mode.
The problem is that my phone status is custom and I can't flash the original ROM because my pc doesn't recognize the phone.
I tried other computer, other cable, all USB doors and installing the last usb drivers on both computers and nothing solve the problem. It charges but doesn't connect to the computer.
I probably will send the phone to warranty this weekend wich ends on 23rd this month.
Please help me!

Try to install kies. If it can detect the phone then the drivers you installed earlier isn't working and your usb is fine.

Hi trying to enable software updates option via USB and am unable to see that option. I have enables USB debug as well as developer mode. But I don't see the option I need when I connect the USB to the phone. Can someone please help.
you to use a program like odin, flashify or smart switch depending on what you want to do.
these programs connect your phone throught the usb cable and port both on your phone and computer.
But won't using Odin require me to root my phone?

No root is not needed. With odin you will just need to download the correct firmware for your device according to which model it is and if it locked to a certain carrier or not. You can download the firmwares from sammobile.com.
no program will root your phone unless you flash the rooting software.
I suggest you read and understand what is required be fore you attempt to alter your device.
Hello, I wanted to install a new ROM to my Samsung S4.
Unfortunately it failed and I have deleted the old OS and all files.
I can't use my external sd card in this phone, so I have to connect the phone via TWRP (V.3.0.2-0) with my computer.
I have tried a Win7 Starter Netbook and a Win10 Notebook and I cant' see my phone. I have tried to install the ADB drives, which where recommented here (https://highonandroid.com/android-r...r-android-in-a-bootloop-with-no-os-using-adb/) and still no chance.
I can charge the phone without problems and I have shortly tried it with an USB stick with Linux.
Should I buy a UTB OTG adapter for an USB Stick or do someone have some hints for me?
You should try different USB cables and USB ports to flash a stock ROM using Odin.

Ok, thank you. I have tried different USB cables and USB ports. I didn't have flash a ROM via Odin for a long time.
Where did I find a instruction for it and the correct files?
I didn't see "Added" in Odin, when I try to connect in Download Mode.
If Odin doesn't assign a com port to the phone, you may need to install the Samsung drivers.

I already did this before trying odin. I have tried to install the Samsung drivers again and nothing changes.

The drivers installed properly? What's the exact model # of the phone? Is it possible the phone's USB port is damaged?

It's possible that the drivers may not install without having admin rights on a Windows machine.
The usb contacts for charging are not the same contacts used for data transfer; therefore, a usb cable can charge the battery but not transfer data. Does the phone recognize an otg drive?
There isn't much you can do until Odin assigns a com port to the phone other than trying with Heimdall.
I have bought an usb adapter for usb sticks and in TWRP the stick is shining, but I can't see the files on the stick. I have tried to mount USB and I don't understand, what I have do to next, because I didn't see any difference, I can't go back and try to find the files.
The USB port contacts for transferring data may be damaged.
