Samsung S7 edge stuck on Galaxy s7 edge logo after FW flash - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

My Samsung Galaxy s7 edge G935FD is stuck on the "powered by android" logo after I flashed a firmware for a different country on it through Odin.
I am unable to access the Download mode or Recovery. Can someone please help me?
Thank you
Edit: I was able to enter the download mode but do not know what to do now.

You can enter recovery mode too. You have to wipe data and clear cache... Otherwise it wont boot up

Thanks for replying mate. I wasn't able to enter "Recovery Mode" but I could get into the "Download Mode" and I flashed the Firmware again.
Turned out the problem was that I only flashed the AP file and not the BL, CP, and CSC files. Earlier we only needed to flash one file (that's why I got confused) but in newer models since S6 we have to flash all these files as well.

CSC cointains the pit file so it will auto repartition, and wipe your data.. (and internal memory) so if you just need to reflash the system but remain the data, don't include csc and will work, but only if the firmware is the same as the one you already have.. (for example for unroot) and remain your data... remember if CSC is attached to odin.. your phone will be fully wiped

Firmware - HOME_CSC - Odin 3.10.7

How to flash the firmware (5 files in archive) to your s7edge?
AP, CP & BL I understand, but the 2 CSC-files...?
CSC -> there's a PIT inside and will wipe your device
HOME_CSC -> the data should stay on your device
Today I tried to update with HOME_CSC, everything was OK, but at the end Odin 3.10.7 FROZE at "meta-data" (this folder is in the HOME_CSC file): nothing happened anymore and I had to pull the cable
Smart Switch didn't recognize my S7edge anymore for the "Emergency Firmware Repair"!
Luckely, Odin did recognize my device and could install the firmware with the "normal" CSC-file and afterwards my device was reset...
I hope someone has a solution on this, because I don't want to install everytime again and again...

Well, the flash went just fine. No problems except the device reset at factory settings. As brand new one....
But of course I would like to know how to flash without resetting the device.
I had the same problem yesterday when used Home_CSC... flashed again with normal CSC and went back to normal with a formated user data
We really need a solution to that... What would happen if we skipped the CSC file when flashing thru ODIN?
Flashing with CSC and not home_CSC will also reset your CSC.
Eg: I was on VODAFONE Romania and flashed stock unbranded using CSC. The result was I lost my ROM (from Romania) CSC, and defaulted to XEO from the multi CSC.
In this situation you cannot go back to your original CSC even after flashing using Smart Switch.
Rooting is the only option then and that will trip Knox.

anybody figured this out?
Just had the same problem flashing with HOME_CSC it got stuck in ODIN and had to pull the cable.
Had to turn off phone and boot again in download mode to flash again with a straight CSC.

CSC contains an instruction that allow Odin to wipe the DATA
Code:
--update_package=CACHE:recovery/sec_csc.zip
--carry_out=csc_factory
--wipe_data
HOME_CSC contains instruction only to allow wipe of cache BUT the original HOME_CSC can cause Odin to freeze at the end of the flashing process.
Code:
--update_package=CACHE:recovery/sec_csc.zip
--carry_out=csc_home
--wipe_cache
That's why you need to modify the HOME_CSC using the CYGWIN tool.
Just dont flash the home csc. I never did it. Everything work greats.

HOME_CSC is supported on Odin version 3.11 or later. It's okay to flash it now.
Sorry to revive this thread but when a downgrade is done from Nougat back to Marshmallow a factory reset via recovery must be required if flashing HOME_CSC. Otherwise just use normal CSC on downgrade.
thank you

CSC-HOME and CSC simple????

Hi Guys
i have a question i want to flash my galaxy s7 edge with Odin i want to ask that there is some confusion between HOME-CSC and CSC simple
1-Can you please guide me which one i need to select to flash my phone?
2-What is Difference between the HOME-CSC and CSC?
3-What happened with both of them if i will flash with one of them ?
Guys ill wait for your reply ......hope so you will guide me in this matter
let's say you wanna update your phone without wiping the data u have on it. you use the home csc. If u have custom recovery and custom rom and you wanna go back to stock firmware you flash the csc file.

Didn't he already answer that question?
Home_CSC: Flash the firmware without wiping the data (if you just want to update the ROM)
CSC: Flash the firmware along with a complete wipe including data (mostly used in cases like bricked phones or Go-Back-To-Stock situations)
I always backup data and do a clean install with CSC ! Its recommended.
When I wanted to swap the firmware from (V) Verizon to (U) Unlocked, I had to use CSC simple, the Home_CSC gave an error. So I assumed the existing data cannot be "saved" when firmware are of different types.
I have asked about this and I wasn't that lucky to get an answer, so I just tried it (trial and error).
However, I think the data wipe is just a side-effect, not the purpose of CSC. Changing the CSC will always wipe data, including any custom software from the previous carrier:
https://productioncommunity.publicm...ung-Phone-Info/m-p/53208/highlight/true#M6228
In my case the original Home_CSC, had only VZW (Verizon) code available. The new unlocked firmware brought in 15 different CSC codes that can be applied when a SIM from one of those providers is introduced in the phone. Phone INFO shows those codes.
@NaJeEb303 He did answer, but he didn't make it clear. Only after knowing the answer I can understand what he meant. So thanks to you for clarifying.

Brother when you are flashing firmware with same csc as your previous firmware then you can use Home_csc and if you are flashing different csc firmware then you have to use file which starts with csc. You will lose data when not using home_csc because it contains different partition information and flashing this will delete you previous partition resulting loss of data but a successful flashing if you are stuck with home_csc. Hope you got your answer.
where do i find the HOME_CSC file?
Hey all,
i just used Odin3-v3.13.1 to upgrade from:
G935FXXU2EREM - GALAXY S7 EDGE SM-G935F DBT GERMANY
to:
G935FXXU2ERG2 - GALAXY S7 EDGE SM-G935F DBT GERMANY
First i selected all AP, BL, CP and HOME_CSC and started flasching. At the very last step (think it was the csc part) it failed.
The Phone said i thould have to use SmartSwitch to get Recovery. So i just opened odin again and just selected AP, BL and CP no csc this time.
That worked. Phone booted, did a bit upgrading and optimizing and now iam on 01.July upgraded. All fine!
But now iam really confused about csc in general.. what is it doing? And is it safe to just leave any csc file empty in odin when doing an upgrade?
No idea? Maybe i should better start a new fred for that
how can i get home_csc for samsung note 3 n900? thanks
How to modify CSC to prevent wipe of my files?
Hello!
How to wipe android OS, but keep my files, like documents, pictures, audio and video in SAMSUNG SM-N9005 memory? 'Android system' package was disabled in 'packagedisabler pro', and now SM-N9005 sticks during booting with animated SAMSUNG logo. Flashing with HOME firmware does not recover because it does not enable 'Android system' package.
How to modify CSC to prevent wipe of my files?
or
How to modify HOME_CSC to wipe android OS but keep my files?
Thanks!
I was answered this on Reddit
I started a thread on Reddit about how to get OTA after stock ROM flash, and the guy said that if I used the CSC file in the CSC field in Odin, I should still get OTA, so I guess it just means you would get OTAs on it. I think it depends on other factors such as build number and others too though, so I would research first.

BTU 7.0 back to 6.0.1 SEB

After all the hype I decided to try out the BTU nougat firmware, flashed the AP file via odin. Found out its buggy for me so I installed back stock 6.0.1 firmware for baltics, the same I had when I bought the phone. I also did wipe data. Now Galaxy Care says my device isnt compatible for it and Samsung Members app says my device isnt supported. What did I do wrong?
By the way before doing data wipe when my phone booted up after installing back to 6.0.1, it asked me for some.kind of password. I downloaded the firmware from sammobile.
Edit: maybe it was because I selected only the AP file in odin when i installed back the SEB firmware?

You need to flash all files via Odin when doing this.
AP, BL, CP and CSC!
When reverting back and forth between completly different room you need a clean and install, and will loose personal media like settings, text pictures and so on, if not backed up.....
And after the FIRMWARE has booted, you turn OFF the phone and boot into the orginal recovery again. Flash the cache/dalvik and then factory reset, restart!
So yes
Like @LyLu said, you need to flash all 4 files, not just AP.
Also, if you are asked for a password and haven't set one, the default password is default_password
Unfortunately default_password is incorrect, does not accept it.
Which password is required?
Thanks.

Yes, you can use this firmware to flash back to stock 2BQL1 via ODIN . If you have t-mobile, flash USERDATA, BL, AP, CSC or HOME CSC to retain your data, otherwise your data will be deleted. Be sure to back up your data before flashing. If your carrier is not t-mobile, flash BL,AP,CSC or HOME CSC and don't flash USERDATA. If you have further questions, let me know.

Yes, in ODIN you would flash BL, AP, CP, CSC & UMS (USERDATA). (Only for T-Mobile) For the second part, what I recommend doing is once you flash the stock firmware, go to recovery, wipe data & cache and reboot. Once it reboots, turn off the device, go to recovery and sideload CRA9 from SD card. Once the installation completes, do the same process in recovery wipe data & cache, reboot and you should be fine.

What is your original carrier? Go to settings, go to about phone, software information & then check service provider if your device is originally from t-mobile it would look like this TMB/TMB/TMB the last one is the stock Odin firmware you should be flashing.
Last 3 is original device carrier

Unfortunately not, everything seems to still be good but I did find a thread in the Galaxy S7 forum about the issue but the issue they have is more complex. The IMEI on their phone is all zeros and mine still shows numbers. I've tried factory reset thru recovery and clear cache but still have the same issue. I think maybe it has to do with different bootloader or something. Not sure. If you find a fix this let me know.

Question, why when I attempt to download the stock room file at the beginning of this thread it say it's trash by owner.

verification failed after root s7 edge nougat (CANT ROOT MY PHONE)

Hello I have the S7 edge g935f nougat 7.0 , I flashed the twrp last version, got into twrp, flashed the SuperSU, and then after reboot said verification failed etc.. I flashed a stock rom which has the December security patch probably that's the reason why says that... I tried to flash the rom again, then flash first a dm-verify zip and then SuperSU (tried with magisk too) but nothing changed.. what to do ?
This is for Exynos
1.Turn on Odin3 and connect your phone to PC in Download Mode (hold "Power & Home & Volume -" for a while).
2.Download lastest custom recovery correctly for your model from offical TWRP website then unpack zip to get flashable *.tar file.
3.Put twrp-3.2.1-x-xxxxxx.img.tar file to "AP" tab.
4.In Options tab check only "F. Reset Time". ATTENTION: rest options must be UNCHECKED!!!
5.Press "Start" and wait till finish flashing (you will see "PASS" info as on THAT screenshot when flashing will be finished).
6.Press and hold "Power & Home & Volume -" for a while to reboot your device. Directly while phone rebooting (when display is turned off/black) press and hold "Power & Home & Volume +" till custom TWRP recovery menu shows up.
7.Go to "Wipe" menu, and swipe to right for "Factory Reset".
8.Now you can flash any zip file to your phone, so all custom ROM's & kernels & mods etc and also you can ROOT with lastest Magisk.zip or SuperSU.zip, etc.

You need to go into TWRP straight after installing it and do the following:
Click Wipe --> Click right button that says "Format Data".
Type "yes" to continue
If that doesnt help:
How to solve problem with mounting "/data" in TWRP?
1.Flash THAT package via TWRP or go to CF-Auto-Root website, download package for your model and stock firmware on which you are/were and just flash it via Odin3

Dont know where is the problem, are you following steps correctly? Install twrp > wipe all data > flash rom > flash super SU / magisk . Also don't flash carrier firmwares, flash the correct carrier free firmware for your region IF your phone is NOT carrier locked.

Bro, then you should flash the rom through twrp ! Put rom on sd card and flash. Then flash super su. I advise you to watch video tutorials on the links i provided above.

No, i will never think that anyone has lesser knowledge than mine, i am a newbie myself. But why you wipe all internal memory ? If you want stock then only format data and cache/dalvik. Also use system less root or otherwise you will get dm verity fail error. You can also flash no verity opt encrypt to bypass this error if you don't want to use system less root.

I flashed the superman ROM which is like the stock the UI and it has more features.. but the battery is draining faster than the stock.. maybe a cpu governor can help that ?

Ofcourse, there is a whole lot of tweaking when using custom kernels/roms. But be careful, as these tweakings requires much research as it could also damage the hardware if done the wrong way. My advice still is to go back to everything stock and then root it using twrp and super su. Again, don't wipe all internal storage, only data and dalvik cache. Good luck
