Running latest Emotion AOSP, phone always powers off suddenly at around 20%.
Restarting gets to the Emotion boot logo for a second and shutdowns.
If I enter recovery mode (philz), battery shows correctly at ~20% and stays on ok.
I bought a new, genuine battery and doing same (16% shut off).
Anyone had same problem ?
Same problem here. Im on stock room i have 2 batterys and phon go off when batery is around 20% Now i make some test and what i see. When i have 20% i use battery drain without flash, baterry go down to end. When i have 19% i use flash in test, phone is dead in second, no samsung logo ets, just DEAD. I need to plug charger for 1-4sec. to power on phone. After power one i see 19% and 3,302V. I Plug charger for second, maybe 2 seconds and the battery V was 3,520.... i go to test again use battery drain and watch my battery V, its 3,500V and go down. I was able to drain battery do 1% and i still can watch youtube for 15 minuts, batery was 3,403V. After this time phone go OFF in good way, its mean i saw samsung logo at power down etc. I plug charge for just power up, and after unplug i see that battery have 3,2V. Now phone is power off, and charging with new battery. Its charging 45 minuts and have 50% (no fast charge)
No idea what happen... I dont want try on custom rom cos i have knox 0x0 and if its hardware i give my phone to warrnity
Any ideas?
Try this

Or buy a new battery.
I tried this and I bought me a new battery. Still waiting for my battery. But I'm sure the Note4 need so much battery, on my side ?
I think many note 4 users have this problem irrespective of being on stock rom or AOSP. Even I have this problem on all stock and stock based rooms but not on Emotion rom. People have bought new batteries but still plagued by same problem. So, I think it's some other hardware that's causing problem or something in the kernel.
In my opinion is hardware. Yesterday i flash 4 file rom with pit file. After install i download from market app fast discharge. App can drain a loot of juse from battery its simplu turn everythink ON... and i saw somthink strange. When i turn all without camera light, everythink work ok. When i turn it with camera light on, i hear somthink in phone and then switch off. I cant power it on, untill i remove battery or plug charge for second. Sorry for english i try discribe it the best i can. Its looks like somthink go down. Power consumption is too big and somthink go overheat, overvoltage or oversomthink. Some hardware part dont hande ampers comsumptions.
Can any1 downoad this app and look in phone. It does not matter how many% is the battery, the phone always turn off and not work until i remove the battery or plug charger

Hello Guys..
I have some problems with my XDA Mini, first think it was battery issues.
It was 1 year i never use my XDA Mini and no battery power.
3 days ago, i recharge my XDA for 8 hours. While charge the battery, i turn it on, see the battery status was 80% for main and 0% for backup battery.
When the Battery status was 100% for main and backup battery, then i unplug the charger and use it.
The problem coming up.. when it rings about 30 second or take photo it will self powered off or restarted. Sometime i can not use Power Switch to switch it On. To switch on it must plug in the charger again then push the Power Switch. When it happened I see the battery status was 80% for main and 40% for backup (it has been standby for 1 and half day).
Today the ROM was upgraded to 2.03 TX and the problem still remains. I try to use my friend 's Magician battery and it still happen. And weird, my friend's Magician then have the same problem too when he use my battery.
I think my battery and other internal circuit have some problems.
If you guys have same problem, please share with me.
Your Battery is dead. Buy a new.
Engersen
Only the battery? I'm not sure. It may the Recharger IC or other components.
Any other suggestion?
I have drained, reset, charged, drained, calibrated, reset to original rom, etc etc etc... No matter which ROM i use (currently on Trips MIUI103) my x10 will not go higher than 90%, then, even though it remains plugged in (and shows charging in Juiceplotter) it slowly drains until empty. Makes it difficult to plug in at night before I go to sleep, and to wake up to find it empty.
(At night I turn off Cell radio, 3g, wifi, bt, gps, etc etc etc) Does the same if the phone is off completely.
Any one have any ideas - it is not the battery, as i use my wifes battery and the same thing happens in my phone, but not in hers.
Well you may have a defective chipset or battery pack.
I suggest return it to SE.
Are you 100% that your apps or firmware isn't causing it?
Sounds like your phone is getting a run off current..
Does the Green "fully charged" LED ever show up.
Yup. Green LED is on at 91% right now (the highest I have ever seen it). and if I wait, it will be green at 90%, 89% etc
Use the phone for one week without reseting or wiping the battery cache..
run it down all the way even when it reaches 1% leave it..
the moment it shuts down.
begin recharging..
"don't use the phone"
till the green led comes on.. leave it a extra 30 mins.
repeat this twice!
then use it normally for the rest of the week..
this time charging at 15% when the phone notifies you and leaving it at least 30 mins after the the green led comes on...
if this does not work... ship back to SE.
Now battery doesn't charge at all (either the regular BST41 or the CSino 2600mah)
Luckily, under warranty, Rogers is sending one to replace. should be here today..
try removing the battery, then plugging it in (without the battery) for about 10-15 minutes.
unplug, put the battery in, plug it back in to charge.
As far as I know, when you calibrate the battery (charge full, the wipe stats, back to 88% then recharge, 2-3 times), I never got 100% after it (always back to 88%, so I have to charge it up to 100%).
Try to wipe again battery stats from xrecovery
Check also the Wolfbreak's CM v054 (dev section), on the first post there's a trick for battery troubles, you might try it
Edit : check also your charging supply and use as possible the stock SE charger. Why ? Because x10 often charges bad/not/slowly with other charger, most of them use a lower mAh charging and the x10 loves high mAh
i just got the phone nad first charge i charged it whe ni got it and now its dead im charging it battery is very weak compared to nexus one i had.... but is it true that if u discharge it completley and then charge it completey and repeat 3-4 times battery gets good? i also heard over a little time that battery gets way better? any one can relate to this?
Sounds like you could benefit from re-calibrating your battery. It can be done manually through recovery by resetting battery stats, or easily through an app like this one (you must be rooted).
how u do it without rooted and i heard discharging 3 times and fully charging works? any update on that
There's lots of different "methods" floating around about how to calibrate your battery, many of which actually don't make much sense. The ones that do make sense to me involve deleting the batterystats.bin file. That app TeeJay3800 linked to pretty much does just that. For rooted devices, all the ClockworkMod recoveries have an option to delete battery stats in the Advanced menu.
I think this file is located somewhere in /data but I don't know off the top of my head. I also don't know if root is required to delete this file. Maybe try finding it with Terminal Emulator and attempt to delete it. If that doesnt work, then you'll probably have to root the device (or maybe just temproot it).
yea i did it yesturday nad today its still bad about to attept 3rd charge and im waiting till it dies it went from 39% to 19% within an hour wtf is this??? im waitign till ti dies then recharge to fully
i also did this wthich is good but will it mess anything up if the phone is brand new and is charging fine
Connect the phone to the charger with the phone powered on, and allow the phone to charge until the notification LED is green, indicating the device is fully charged.
Disconnect the phone from the charger, and power it off.
Reconnect the phone to the charger with the phone powered off, and allow the phone to charge until the notification LED is green.
Disconnect the phone from the charger and power it on.
Once the phone is powered completely on, power it off again and reconnect it to the charger until the notification LED is green.
Disconnect the phone, power it on, and use it. You need to use this sequence only once.

This is "bump charging" and all it does is try to fill up your battery as much as possible. It's like topping off at the gas station. It won't do much as far as battery calibration. You may see a minor improvement in battery life after a bump charge, but you'll have to do it each time you charge.
Keep in mind that battery life is dependent on many factors, including your usage pattern. Improving battery life is a matter of being mindful and selective about what connections you leave open (bluetooth, GPS, WiFi, account sync) and what apps you let run. Screen usage plays a role as well. Network signal strength also plays a part, but that's not something you can control. Don't use taskillers, they cause more problems than they solve.
I'm assuming you're still on the stock ROM. If that's the case, you should be aware that there's lots of extra stuff on there that runs in the background to support the HTC Sense overlay. The biggest improvement in battery for me was (a) flashing a custom ROM without all that junk on it and (b) flashing a custom kernel which both underclocks the CPU and uses lower voltage settings.
If after all these considerations you still think your battery is borked, head over to a T-Mobile store. They may give just you a new one, otherwise it'll probably cost you not very much.
Hello! i have problem with my streak 5, few days ago battery drained out and phone shut down.
i connected ti a charger but nothing happen, no reaction on phone so i left it on charge all night.
Still no response, no picture on the screen, no backlight, no LED, completely dead.
I can get reaction only when i enter in fastboot mode (holding power+camera)
IN this mode touch screen not working, computer recognize device and i can do flash and i do it successfuly but i still cant turn on my phone.
What can be a problem, I tried everything with no luck, also i have not found anyone with same problem
I have 2.2 official, no root.
Try changing the battery. The one you have could be defective, or else there is an issue with the charging circuit.
I measured with instrument 3,67V, connected od 1 and 4. And few other combination i get from 3,30 to max 3,67V.
This seem to be ok, regardless of that you think might be the battery?
Never let the battery drain that much becase now the battery doens't have enough power to start the charging... you should charge the battery manual with some wires on (+) and (-) from a old phone charger be carefull with the voltage(V) and the ampers(A) not to brake the battery, 20 or 30 min should be enough, or you should buy one of this Universal charger. Then place the battery in the phone and it should work ok .
This morning I optimistically tried to turn on a phone and it was successful
battery Indicator showing 7% so i connected to charger, now is normaly charging, everything is working normally...
I do not understand, what could happen? i few times drained battery to 0% but still able to charge, maybe battery is problem, but again, turned on after 3 days
Don't worry the battery is ok the problem is not to empty it again to 0%, at 5% 7% close the phone if you don't have a charger to charge it. This method applies to every phone and battery. It's not a good thing to fully discharge.
Now is fully charged and power is 4,07V.
So obviously battery caused this problem.
I think, good info for all who suspect on battery, 4,07 V is power you need to have on fully charged battery.
With 3,6V you cant event turn on the phone.
Thank you for suggestions

Not everything my friend
Just charge the battery for some HOURS or over the night. All the described symptoms indicate a low battery to me.
cheers
UPDATE:
Just managed to unlock a bootloader in that short period of time i can get to fastboot. But still no change, phone wont stay in fastboot.

Well, i actaully tried to leave it plugged over night. But i think it stops charging right after the red light dissapears, which happens after 15mins or so after plugging. Btw, i mentioned earlier that battery shows 3.7V when measured with multimeter, so the battery doesn't seem to be the culprit... or does it...?

your battery is drained below safe line....to 0%. They warn you NOT to update it with less than 60% battery FOR A REASON!!
Friends case she managed to charge ger asus 7 memopad with non-removable bat to 60% after 8 HOURS, because of a bloatware wakelock drainage to 0% after a factory reset....
If that doesn't work you have to either recharge the battery manually (something like car batteries, you have to unsolder the battery connector because the battery doesnt have 2 gold squares that touch the gold pins like the removable ones, or get a new battery.
Li-Po batteries should never be discharged to 0%, and can make problems if they are not removable (Nexus 4)

I did manage to charge it manually with two small wires and an old Nokia charger, when checking battery with multimeter after a few minutes of charging seems to increase voltage. But i guess if the chip on battery is fried there is nothing more i can do.
I will try to leave the phone on charger all night once again, see if that makes a difference, and update if anything changes.
take off the back, disconnect the battery connector wire and connect it again, put it on charger and see if things change
UPDATE:
Leaving it to charge overnight didn't have any effect. Any other suggestions than changing a battery?
Nah, sorry, but i am out of ideas. You basically tried it all :/

I know there is a lot of threads about bricked N4's, and i can assure you that I have viewed each and every one of them, but i still can't resolve my broblem.
This whole brick situation happened after trying to update to Android 4.3 OTA update, the phone didn't complete the process and turned off, where red light of death happened.
So the scenario goes like this:
If i hold POWER button for ~30s when phone is off charger i only get a Google logo for 2 sec, and phone instantly restarts
Holding PWR+VOL-DOWN buttons when phone is off charger doesn't do anything
Plugging phone to charge (socket or PC) results in solid red light
Holding PWR+VOL-DOWN or PWR+VOL-DOWN+VOL-UP for ~15s makes the red light blink at a steady rate
While continuing to hold the respective buttons and pluging the charger off, and on again gets me to bootloader or download mode (depending on button combo) for ~2s and phone restarts.
I tried removing and inserting the battery 3 times. One time i got blinking red light when plugged the charger in. Second time i got solid red light and third time got solid red light again
I tried charging the battery directly for 15 minutes with old Nokia charger, and it resulted in something different(when i assembled the phone and tried to turn it on with PWR+VOL-DOWN buttons when charger was plugged off, i got to bootloader for 2seconds before phone restarted, i tried to boot second time and the same thing happened, but when i tried it third time i got nothing, just like before) so this was the first time i got into bootloader while not charging a phone.
*My PC seems to pick up the phone for a brief moment when it is in bootloader and starts installing the drivers. Drivers gets installed when i'm in download mode for that brief moment too.
**Phone doesn't get to the white or red battery icon while plugged to charge.
***Solid red light dissapears after charging for ~10mins, but phone won't do anything.
****When measured with a multimeter battery shows 3.7V
I hope someone will be able to help me with this, as it is frustrating as f*ck. I don't have a working warranty, so fixing the N4 isn't an option, and where i live phone repair prices are over the roof (ex. motherboard change for N4 costs ~270$ ).

I had the same problem. Kept it on the charger for a whole day and still only the Red Light.
Took it to a local shop and they said there is a short circuit in the antenna
Took it to the LG Service center and they said my motherboard is gone.
Both were costing a bomb to repair and still there was no guarantee.
IMHO, get a new phone.
Sorry
Have you tried charging it with a wireless charging pad? I got mine to boot after I did that. Your battery is drained and it doesn't have enough juice to charge itself.

Don't fall for the motherboard dead trick. Just a way to steal your money.... change the battery and never let it go to 1%
