Hello! i have problem with my streak 5, few days ago battery drained out and phone shut down.
i connected ti a charger but nothing happen, no reaction on phone so i left it on charge all night.
Still no response, no picture on the screen, no backlight, no LED, completely dead.
I can get reaction only when i enter in fastboot mode (holding power+camera)
IN this mode touch screen not working, computer recognize device and i can do flash and i do it successfuly but i still cant turn on my phone.
What can be a problem, I tried everything with no luck, also i have not found anyone with same problem
I have 2.2 official, no root.
Try changing the battery. The one you have could be defective, or else there is an issue with the charging circuit.
I measured with instrument 3,67V, connected od 1 and 4. And few other combination i get from 3,30 to max 3,67V.
This seem to be ok, regardless of that you think might be the battery?
Never let the battery drain that much becase now the battery doens't have enough power to start the charging... you should charge the battery manual with some wires on (+) and (-) from a old phone charger be carefull with the voltage(V) and the ampers(A) not to brake the battery, 20 or 30 min should be enough, or you should buy one of this Universal charger. Then place the battery in the phone and it should work ok .
This morning I optimistically tried to turn on a phone and it was successful
battery Indicator showing 7% so i connected to charger, now is normaly charging, everything is working normally...
I do not understand, what could happen? i few times drained battery to 0% but still able to charge, maybe battery is problem, but again, turned on after 3 days
Don't worry the battery is ok the problem is not to empty it again to 0%, at 5% 7% close the phone if you don't have a charger to charge it. This method applies to every phone and battery. It's not a good thing to fully discharge.
Now is fully charged and power is 4,07V.
So obviously battery caused this problem.
I think, good info for all who suspect on battery, 4,07 V is power you need to have on fully charged battery.
With 3,6V you cant event turn on the phone.

Everything was just fine until yesterday when i realized the batterty's built-in monitor wasn't reading a real batt stat. I was sure I was running out of charge and the divice was still saying there was 50% left. I did a soft reset and my atom didn't boot. I took the battery off and waited more than 3 hours, put it back and couldn't boot. I haven't ever done anything to my mobile. No register tweacks, fisical hits or rom upgrades. I searched the web and found a procedure to get it back. Reset+camera choose 1 option and there you go with your device booting at last. I did so but when it ended whith the system loading proces it sent a notification saying that the battery was exhausted and it went off. Again it couldn't boot in a normal way even with the ac adaptor plugged in. I made sure the battery was fully charged. I did a bootloader again (reseat+camera) with the usb connected and i could get it back again but showing 0% battery indicator and would turn off as soon as i unpluged it. I tested the battery with a multimeter and even when it was fully charged i tried to recharge it until green light then i turned it on and the batt monitor was 100%. I could unpluged the usb and everything was fine. It didn't turn off but the indicator got stock in 100%. After an hour or so of normal use i was sure the battery was 90% or less while it was still indicating 100% of charge. I did a soft reset and couldn't boot again. I think the device knows when the battery is 100% charged but when it is less tha 100% and i do a soft or cold reseat the mobile thinks the battery is 0% and won't boot.
Yes, I have ugraded to ROM Xda-Atom-Exec-ENG-20060721-MOT0822 to see if this fixes it but now i have a rom-upgraded aton exec with the same fatal error.
I am at work rigth now and hopping my atom doesn't need a soft reset because if so i need to plug it in in order to be able to do a reseat+camera and wait some minutes until green ligth shows up. My atom knows 0% or 100% of battery charge but no numbers in beetwin.
Any ideas?
did you charge the battery for 8 hours on first use, continuing to discharge battery completely first three charges?
This is crucial for battery performance I now get at least three days of moderate usage and at least 7 days in standby, my advice is go buy a new battery follow the instruction manual completely, failing any changes (be sure to buy battery from somewhere you can get refunded) return the battery. Try also reflashing using bootloader mode, not using the SD card!
The last time i used bootloader was after hard reset a no card inside then i performed the last ROM upgrede available from O2. It seems to be a hardware problem more than a software problem as i thought at the begining.
I hope you are rigth, i guess the device gets charge information from the battery and the battery is telling it when it is 100% and 0% when it is under 100% and after a soft or cold reset. I am going to drain the battery all the way down and recharge it up to green light to see what happens. By the way i did not charge the battery 8 hrs when new.
Where do you think my atom is geting the batt charge information? From one of its inside sensors or from batt circuits?

I mean reflash using bootloader mode, ie. enter bootloader then plug in USB and run DSUU installer from your PC. Its hard to say where the fault lies, some Atom's had power management issues and O2 are fully aware of it, if yours is still under warranty I suggest sending it to a service center but be prepared to be without it for at least a month! (should change their name to SLOW2) and also be prepared to have it returned to you only to find they havent done a damn thing!
Its a bad battery, same thing happened to me. Just return it for a new one, the material is moulded with the smart chip inside there is no way to fix it.
Now my battery is beetwin 100% and 85%. I have searched other forums and i found out it is definitly a battery issue. It has been more than 6 months since i bougth my Atom so i have no more battery garanty. I thing i am going to wait before i buy a new one in orther to get the most of it since it still last more than 2 days.

when a battery xp-02 (for atom family) is sometime stop at certain percentage, says 72% for long time, i do a soft reset and it drops to says 40%, is it a symptom of bad battery? or it is a ROM problem?
Does anyone know if the Wizard is capable of charging its battery in a completely powered down state?
The battery on my Wizard (G4 Qtek 9100) was low today, but I just ignored it, the battery ended up running down completely to the point that the phone powered off, and would not turn back on when I tried to repower it. I connected the charger and left it sit for about half an hour, the charging light did not light, but I left it to charge. After the half hour I figured it should have gained enough charge to power on, so I tried and no luck. Luckily I have a charged spare battery, so I left the dead battery in the phone and wedged thin wires in between the dead battery contacts, and the phone's spring loaded contacts. I connected the + of the dead battery to the + of the spare, and the - of the dead to the - of the spare. Now both batteries are connected to the phone in parallel. This allowed me to power the phone up and boot it all the way up, where the charging indicator LED lit. I disconnected the spare battery, so that the dead battery can charge on its own. Sofar it looks like it is taking the charge.
I'm wondering if some of the people that have "bricked" phones might have run into the same problem that I have. If you have a "bricked" phone, try using another battery that you know has a charge.
go in registry with totalcommander or something similar to this key:
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\usbfndrv
and change : EnableUsbCharging to '1'
press reset after u done this.
i had this several times with death battery and wouldnt charge on usb on the
computer but it did with the original charger.
Thanks, i'll give that a try. Just curious, do you know anything about how that works? I'm wondering how a registry key can controll a piece of hardware that has been completely powered down, and that windows mobile hasn't yet booted on.
Have a TMOUS purchased in May. Latest stock rom/radio. When the battery is super low it goes through the process of shutting down - but when I plug it into the charger the phone will boot instead of staying shut down and charge. Will attempt to boot then go into Sense then shut down again and do the same process all over again. The only way to stop it is to quickly power down and it will stay down and charge. In any of the situations the phone appears to be charging.
Is this a problem with the ROM/Hardware or is something going on with the battery? Have an 8GB SD card with Android (no boot loader) and thats pretty much it.
Any advice would be appreciated.
I doubt that your battery is gone bad, but there are chances, try to condition your battery
Its just a little strange that the when the supposedly dead phone is plugged into a charger it boots up without pressing the power button. Don't think thats normal. Also when plugged into a charger when the battery is "dead" or near dead it should boot up and charge. This one doesn't - it boots - shows an LED charge light and then powers down and reboots. For some reason the battery with such a low charge can't power the phone and charge at the same time.
Will attempt to do a hard reset - maybe HD2 Tweak or something else did something to the registry and try it again. Since its under warranty will request another battery and take it from there. Don't think anything is wrong with the phone's hardware because it functions flawlessly.

If the battery drains and shuts off because it's out of juice, it WILL turn back on as soon as you plug it in, but it shouldn't keep rebooting after that...
Also if it's just shutting down on you in Android without warning when it's low, you need to condition your battery in Android so that it has the correct batterystats info.
No something is wrong. Ran it out of juice in WM this afternoon. Got the error message let it go. Went down and shut off. Plugged it into a car charger USB/cig adapter. Powered up go to tmobile screen/radio code then animation - rebooted did the same thing without touching it a few times then shut off - light led for charging did not appear.
Pulled battery - when charger disconnected - plugged charger - red light no reboot. Tried it again - same results with a hitch - it froze when it was charging - accessed internet explorer then it did a hard freeze - had to press reset button.
Don't know whats going on at this point - it shouldn't have done the freeze. So I'm going to experiement - pull the SD card (has Android on it) and try it again without the card. Try another card, try another charger and see - if I get the same results its either the phone or battery. When I have a charge greater than 5% there are never any problems. Only when battery level 0-1%.

Your battery pins aren't bent are they? (The little guys on the phone side that smash down when you insert the battery)
No, they are fine. I did call T-Mobile this afternoon and spoke to a level 2 tech - they think the battery is bad. Under warranty and have to call HTC tomorrow morning.
The phone does charge and does get to 100%. Drain in Windows seems fine and uniform but it does drop quickly once I get to about 20%.
Because of the reboot issue I think one of the cells is bad. Doesn't seem to want to trickle charge when the battery is that low. Tries to reboot - but can't get enough juice to sustain itself. Should just bypass through the battery as its charging. Either its the battery or somehow the charging circuitry is bad - who knows - with a new battery if it still does it then is the phone's hardware.
Will stop using Android for a while until this gets worked out - although I prefer the browser over WM 6.5.

Def sounds like a battery issue then, if the pins aren't bent because that is the biggest symptom of bent pins.
So the phone was really low, at 6% this morning. SO I put it on the wall charger. I saw the icon come up that it was charging and then put the phone down.
A while later I went back to the phone and saw that although the charger was plugged in to the wall and also plugged into the phone, it was NOT charging.
Using the phone I went to my contacts to check a phone number and then it turned off, due to no charge.
I plug it into the wall charger, the USB connected to the computer, as well as the car charger and here is what happens:
The top and bottom of the phone blink red for about 1-3 minutes.
Without pressing anything on the phone it automatically turns itself on, I see the Sony Ericsson boot screen, the Windows boot screen then my SPB Mobil Shell screen for about a second and then it turns off again showing and the blinking red light for about 1-3 minutes and then it starts the process all over again.
I think that a setting for Backlight/Power management was changed. As setting similar to "Only charge with usb", or "only charge when connected with ActiveSync" or somthing like that.
The problem is that I turned off the Active sync on the phone in order to conserve battery power so that I could look up the phone number from my contacts. And after I did that the phone shut off and I cannot change it, because it will not charge.
I do not have a different, charged, battery to try and do not think that I can find one easily.
Any suggestions?
Now when I see that the phone is re-booting(I see the SE logo), I use the stylus to to soft reset. It is obvious that there is some type of charge happening before it re-boots, , otherwise it would not re-boot. SO my theory is that by doing a soft rest between restarts, the battery will gain more of a charge each time. And possibly have enough of a charge so that I can go into my settings and see the backlight/ power settings have been changed.
So I took a battery from my old SE 902 phone and rigged it to work with my X2.
It booted up just fine. I was able to get into the menu for power settings. Nothig was changed however I did check the box "do not charge when connected to the computer" backed out of that screen and then went back into the screen and unchecked the box.
I powered down the phone and the screen went to the default charging battery meter.
I then put the proper battery in the phone and it was still blinking red. I saw it blink green for a few seconds, then I felt it vibrate, and then I saw the green battery meter. But after a few seconds it went back to blinking red and I could not see the battery meter again.
This seems to be happening intermittenly. As of right now there is a green blinking light and I see a dimmed battery meter.
Hopefully it will be fine, we shall see.
So it was charging for a while and now has stopped. I see the battery meeter, but there is no green bar moving up. and the light has stopped blinking.
I unplugged the usb and I still see the battery meter with no green bar moving. Installed the back cover and plugged the usb back in.
Now it is back to the red blinking again. . . ? ? ? ? ?
I think that it is a battery issue.
CAn anyone suggest why a battery would all of a sudden stop working?
Just ordered a new battery. $70.00!!! Ouch!!!
It does come with a battery charger for use with a Mini USB, but still, $70.00 is a lot of money!!
I will update with the results after i charge it up.
I got the new battery and put it into the charger. As I mentioned in an earlier post the new battery came with a separate charger for use with a mini usb. At first I had problems. The charger would not charge the new battery. I was using a wall connected mini usb to power the charger. So I went to the computer and tried the mini usb from there. It still would not charge. So I took the battery out of the charger and put it into then phone and went back to the wall charger and it was charging. I could feel the phone vibrate and then saw the battery meter slowly fill with green and back to empty and then fill green again.
So I decided to do a few other chores around the house and went to check the charging status after about 10 minutes. I noticed that the phone was on!! I did not turn the phone on. No one else was in the house to turn it on. It was just on. Weird.
So I took the battery out of the phone and decided to try the new charger again with the computer mini USB. It WAS charging this time!! I charged the new battery on this charger using the computer mini USB until the red light(charging) turned green (finished charging) and then put it in the phone. It works fine.
I then decided to put the defective battery into this charger and it was actually charging!! I left it overnight and it was green this morning: identifying it as a full charge.
When the new battery is down to 10% or less I will take it out and put the defective battery in and see what happens.
So I put the original battery back in after the green light came on identifying a full charge on the accessory charger.
It showed 1% and a message came up identifying that "the battery is low, please charge asap", something like that.
So, in my unprofessional opinion , the original battery is toast.
The new battery worked great after its initial charge using the included accessory charger.
When I decided to charge it using the phone itself with the wall charger I noticed some really weird things happening.
First of all you should know that I downloaded and installed Spoon Charge. Look it up here on the forums, free and works great. It basically tells you what charge level you have, temperature of the battery, what voltage is coming in to charge it and also type of charge the battery is doing: trickle, fast, very fast and on battery.You can set it to read reading at specific time intervals: I have it set to read at every second.
I noticed that the charge kept bouncing between very fast and trickle. At one point it went to on battery, then to trickle then to on battery then to fast.
Ok. Weird. . . I thought to myself.
So I let it continue to charge overnight.
The next day I "tried" to use the phone. it was as slow as it was at it's factory installed settings before I did the memory card fix, accelerator settings, and other fixes that I forgot now have forgotten that I have installed.
At this point I decided to drain the battery as fast as I could by turning on WiFi, Bluetooth, and play a movie at the loudest volume possible. As soon as it reached 10% I took the battery out and charged it with the accessory charger. The next morning I saw that the indicator light was green showing full charge and installed the battery in the phone. It booted up and I immediately received a message that the battery was low, saw 1%.
Knowing that this was a BRAND NEW BATTERY, I turned off the phone and took the battery out and waited a few seconds until I put it back in and rebooted the phone.
This time it said 86% charge!!!!!!
WTF!!!!
So I tried to use the phone and it was as sluggish as before. After about 25 minutes it was starting to be a bit faster but nothing like it was before.
I am really confused now. Since I have a new battery I have ruled out that as a problem. So now is it the phone itself? Could it be the wall charger that is faulty?
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Another update.
I put the original battery in the phone and now it works!!!! The old battery that would not charge now charges and works!!!
The phone is not the same. Still really slow, can't get it out of the "LOCKED" position when I want to answer a phone call. Opera is sliggish then fast then sluggish. Not what I had the phone at before all of this started. It actually WAS stable. It WAS useable. Now I want to throw it into the drink!!!!!!
Not sure what to think anymore.

Just charge the battery for some HOURS or over the night. All the described symptoms indicate a low battery to me.

Just managed to unlock a bootloader in that short period of time i can get to fastboot. But still no change, phone wont stay in fastboot.

Well, i actaully tried to leave it plugged over night. But i think it stops charging right after the red light dissapears, which happens after 15mins or so after plugging. Btw, i mentioned earlier that battery shows 3.7V when measured with multimeter, so the battery doesn't seem to be the culprit... or does it...?

your battery is drained below safe line....to 0%. They warn you NOT to update it with less than 60% battery FOR A REASON!!
Friends case she managed to charge ger asus 7 memopad with non-removable bat to 60% after 8 HOURS, because of a bloatware wakelock drainage to 0% after a factory reset....
If that doesn't work you have to either recharge the battery manually (something like car batteries, you have to unsolder the battery connector because the battery doesnt have 2 gold squares that touch the gold pins like the removable ones, or get a new battery.
Li-Po batteries should never be discharged to 0%, and can make problems if they are not removable (Nexus 4)

I did manage to charge it manually with two small wires and an old Nokia charger, when checking battery with multimeter after a few minutes of charging seems to increase voltage. But i guess if the chip on battery is fried there is nothing more i can do.
I will try to leave the phone on charger all night once again, see if that makes a difference, and update if anything changes.
take off the back, disconnect the battery connector wire and connect it again, put it on charger and see if things change

Leaving it to charge overnight didn't have any effect. Any other suggestions than changing a battery?

I tried charging the battery directly for 15 minutes with old Nokia charger, and it resulted in something different(when i assembled the phone and tried to turn it on with PWR+VOL-DOWN buttons when charger was plugged off, i got to bootloader for 2seconds before phone restarted, i tried to boot second time and the same thing happened, but when i tried it third time i got nothing, just like before) so this was the first time i got into bootloader while not charging a phone.
*My PC seems to pick up the phone for a brief moment when it is in bootloader and starts installing the drivers. Drivers gets installed when i'm in download mode for that brief moment too.
**Phone doesn't get to the white or red battery icon while plugged to charge.
***Solid red light dissapears after charging for ~10mins, but phone won't do anything.
****When measured with a multimeter battery shows 3.7V
I hope someone will be able to help me with this, as it is frustrating as f*ck. I don't have a working warranty, so fixing the N4 isn't an option, and where i live phone repair prices are over the roof (ex. motherboard change for N4 costs ~270$ ).

I had the same problem. Kept it on the charger for a whole day and still only the Red Light.
Took it to a local shop and they said there is a short circuit in the antenna
Took it to the LG Service center and they said my motherboard is gone.
Both were costing a bomb to repair and still there was no guarantee.
IMHO, get a new phone.

Have you tried charging it with a wireless charging pad? I got mine to boot after I did that. Your battery is drained and it doesn't have enough juice to charge itself.

Don't fall for the motherboard dead trick. Just a way to steal your money.... change the battery and never let it go to 1%
