HELP! Bootloop - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

So here's the issue....
I used package disabler pro (without root) to disable my apps. I accidentally disabled the two Touchwiz launchers. My phone will not boot up anymore (gets stuck on Verizon screen).
Am I screwed? Is there a way to backup my files using recovery? I've tried everything and adb keeps failing when I try to sideload a new launcher apk to my phone. Please help! I need to keep my files!
*Edit* please move this to correct location

Sounds like you will need to odin.

Or factory reset.

Factory reset will erase his files. Odin, but use the home csc file instead

This is why I always recommend a weekly Smartswitch backup to SD card.

[Q] 2.3.151 Update/bloatware prob

I have a DX with Version.2.3.151.MB810.Verizon.en.US, rooted.
1) My phone keeps trying to force me to update, and it then fails the update. I rooted my phone and deleted (no backup) several pieces of bloatware. I put blockbuster and amazon mp3 back on from the marketplace, but I can't find CityID or DLNA there. Can I update to 2.3.340?
2) I do not know how to make a failsafe backup of everything in the event that I totally screw stuff up. I've been looking through posts for hours, and have seen people suggest backing up a million times, but I cannot find out how to do that. Can anyone link me to something showing me how to back up my phone, and how to flash that backup back on?
http://www.chadhaney.com/droidXDefault/ link to all bloatware app downloads
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I just downloaded the programs I am missing, and I cannot instal the DLNA stuff. I am assume it is because the odex stuff isn't there, and I can't put the odex stuff in the app folder because it is write protected. How can I change the permissions on the app folder?

If you flash this file through bootstrap recovery, then you will be on the latest OTA and ready to go.

So does maderstock do the same as sbf?

It says coming from a non blur rom will surely boot loop your phone. Is liberty non blur?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Okay, so I can download that file, flash it from recovery, and have an updated phone. It says to make a backup, how do I do that? Would that backup be another .zip file to flash? If I do back up my phone, update it with the maderstcok file, and if it screws up, I would be able to simply go into the recovery and use the backup zip to fix everything?
If you have DX Bootstrapper, open up that app, select bootstrap recovery, wait for the "Success" message, then select reboot recovery.
Your phone will reboot into the bootstrap menu... Use the volume keys to go down to backup/recovery and select that with the camera button. You will get another menu, and just select backup using the volume and camera keys....
The phone should now spend a few minutes backing up... when its done, use the power key to back out to the main menu, and then install the .zip.....
If the install screws up your phone, then boot into bootstrap recovery using any of the methods, go down to backup/recover, and select recover.. There should only be one file, and its the time-date that you did the backup.... Select that, then "yes" and let it do its thing.... Your phone will be back to the exaCT condition you backed it up in..... including any unread text messages.... enjoy
You all are amazing. Thanks a million times!
I updated my phone with maderstock, and it works.
The problem is that I now cannot root my phone again, and am stuck with all of the bloatware. Can anyone help with this? I cannot download z4root through the market (will not show up in Market), and when I download it through a browser, it won't work.
and the phone keeps trying to update, and telling me that the download failed.

LG smartcover has stopped

Hello,
So, my vs98039a is having a pop up saying "Unfortunately, LG smartcover has stopped". When i close it, it automatically keeps popping up, over and over and over. I am rooted with stock rom. I have twrp recovery.
I tried to install xposed through twrp. That is when it started with the pop ups. I read that xposed is making the pop ups happen.
I tried to do a recovery, but the recovery wasnt found on memory stick via usb.
So, i was able to do a factory reset, but still have these stupif pop ups. The factory reset took it back to 5.0.2.
I really need some help bad. How do I get rid of these pop ups??? I am sick over this.
Thank you very much

Hopefully this will teach you to read before messing around. In the Q&A, there's a link how to get it working thru adb. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=58829021
If you can't get it working that way then you'll need to return to stock. (post# 2) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51318377
It's been a known issue since Xposed in alpha (not for everyone) has been out.

Thanks for your help, nothing is working. I cant seem to get the sdk tools to work so that I can open adb cmd. I downloaded the sdk suite and manager. I'm afraid its a lost cause . I try to go back to stock, and the phone will not stay connected when flashing vs98039a firmware. I even went to Lg site and downloaded the newest driver. It works, phone tries to reboot and shuts off and flashtool says there was error when it tries to install firmware. I try to get phone in dowload mode, and it says download mode but there is an error message top left. Then it shut off completely.
How the heck can I get adb to open up so I can enter commands to stop smartcover, weather, and weather platform??? I have done all of this on my razr m without a hitch. Im not a noob. I do not understand this G2!!!

You need to remove these 3 apps for xposed to work:
LGCover, LGWeather, LGWeatherService
Just flash the attached file through recovery and xposed will work.
Sent from my XT907 using XDA Free mobile app
I was wondering how that is even possible since I did a factory reset, the popups will not let me past them, and I have no recovery as far as I know.? The usb debugging is on, and the phone shows it is connected, but pc does not see it. Unknown sources is enabled as well.
I can't flash anything from pc using the lg flash tool. It gets to 50 percent and says device isn't connected. Can't even try the freedom tool anymore if it went connect. I have the latest usb driver.
I don't evenknow if I have root anymore. Popups won't let me do anything.
So anyway, I ended up just wiping everything thru the twrp recovery and took the firmware zip I downloaded (vs98039a) and installed it. Everything is back to normal with fresh stock rom. I think I will just be happy with that, until xposed has a clean apk. Thank you for your help

Exactly, that´s the problem.
If you can´t solve it with that, flash new rom, and do that before install xposed again,
One more thing, can I use titanium to freeze these apps or should I just delete them?

yes you can freeze them too, it will most likely work too.

Anyway to stop from updating.

So I rooted my at&t v20 h10 using the dirty Santa method. However, I just got home from work and when I went to turn on my phone it was in recovery. I then booted my phone and it says there is a software update available and it is preparing to update. I guess at&t has decided to force this update. I don't want the update as I will probably lose root or even worse it may brick so I just pulled the battery. I have about five seconds after I reboot before it starts to try and prepare the update again. I was pretty sure I had automatic updates turned off. Amy suggestions?
Since you are rooted install Titanium backup from the play store (the pro version is worth the money because you can use it on all your devices). After you install it use it to backup to all the installed apps and then remove the system update app and it won't download or try to install the OTA update.
You can also use a root enabled file manager to delete the downloaded update as well.
Unfortunately I have purchased titanium backup but don't have it installed. As mentioned before the update takes over my phone after about 5 seconds after booting. It won't let me do anything and will just say preparing for update. At first I pulled the battery to stop it. I let it restart last time and it boots into twrp. I have tried looking for the update file in the twrp file manager but no luck finding it.

Can you still fastboot? I saw in another thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/att-h910-update-t3535693/page3 (post 42) a few commands that can possibly kill the update.
Yes, I will try that when I get home

Yeah try the fastboot method it's easy to get into. Pull your battery and after you put it back in hold the Volume down key without pressing the power button just plug it into your computer via USB.
Also you should be able to flash your kdz file via download mode and then get TB installed and rip out the system update app so you can avoid the update.
Thank you, The fastboot method worked and got rid of the update. Do you know what to freeze in titanium backup so it won't try to do it again?

On my VZW V20 it was system update. I tend to run a batch action of "Back all user apps + system data" and just uninstall vs a freeze for debloating purposes. Also there's the old method of renaming otacerts.zip under /etc/security to prevent any update that sneakes under the radar.

Update center & FOTA update 7.0 is what I froze,I originally thought it was 3 but those are they only 2 that immediately stood out in my frozen list on Titanium.
Forced Over The Air update more than likely was the culprit.

Hi, thank you for your replay
I tried just now freezing the app through titanium backup. It worked and it's frozen now. However, I can't uninstall it, when I tried uninstalling it, the phone restarted again. Now, I can update my apps again through play store without the phone to crash. It seemed to solve the problem temporarily but this helped alot, thanks.

If you can go on recovery mode, then ADB sideload FireOS firmware will not touch the user area. All user apps and data will remain after ADB sideload of FireOS firmware.
