Snapdragon 810 CPU Throttling!! - Xperia Z5 Compact General

The SD810 Throttling issue has not been fixed yet! .The device is becoming as hot as an iron box
Is there any alternate ways to fix it without affecting the performance?
Will Sony fix it in upcoming Android Nougat update?
I tried AnTuTu Benchmark and my initial score was about 55000 thereafter i tried running the same by putting the device in refrigerator Surprisingly i got a score of 93000

Z5 with dual heatpipe actually not that bad with SD810. It's just Z5c problem but since SD810 is a overkill on 720P, we are free to downgrade our clock without real hurt the experiences.

Desire z processor is not that power

All people calming that desire z processor @800mhz scores better in benchmarks than overlooked snapdragon ,this is not true when Iam on desire z Rom I underclocked my hd2 to 806.4 mhz (same as dz) and I got 1512 score from the first time same as Dz with its perfect GPU , SO OUR CPU PERFORMS BETTER ( you can try it yourself ) Iam not a liar ,I think the improved performance is in THE ROM itself not in the processor

You have to remember that the benchmarks (quadrant, linpack etc) are all synthetic, like 3dmark back in the day for pc graphics cards. There are so many things that can affect your scores both adversely and positively that they should only be used as a very rough guideline and nothing more. Direct comparisons are all but pointless.

Iam talking to people who take quadrant as a prove for performance , I know that its results are not accurate
Sent from my HTC HD2 T8585 using XDA App
I think you should use Quadrant Advanced to compare cpu scores, I know I/O scores help our HD2 a lot.
Even software affects quadrant cpu scores so it is not reliable. Quadrant benchmarks h264 decoding performance as part of cpu benchmark and for example having stagefright driver enabled inflates cpu score by double! Disable stagefright and your cpu will score 400 instead of 800. (in quadrant "advanced") if you use better software decoder it will affect cpu score by large amount. And rebenchmarking produces higher results because of caching. Mips calculating benchmarks are better (like the one in setcpu)

That might be true but the Desire Z/G2 has a co-processor for apps that we don't have.

+1.. imagine, a 75% overclock?? i wonder if the carpet has any burn marks on them when he lifts the phone up, or if his face has any burn marks that's why he's not showing it up on the cam.. lol.. because a 75% OC on a very small device where there is not enough room to breathe, the whole phone would be like a big heatsink if used for a period of time.. and i guess that's also the reason why HTC slapped the 800mhz cpu instead of the 1ghz.. i'm our HD2 can achieve such high of an OC, but it wouldn't be adviceable as it would melt/crack the solder joints on the GPU and/or processor of the phone at that kind of heat.. and i believe that the GPU and apllication coprocessor that they're talking about on the G2 is just a marketing ploy to justify it's price tag.. maybe to cope up with the build price since there are moving parts (hinge) and the hard keyboard.. even the guy at the tmobile store told me that the G2 isn't fast at all.. he said it's nothing close to evo or the nexus one as some people and websites claims.. funny when he asked my what kind of phone do i have.. i pulled my HD2 and showed it to him.. he was surprised to see Android on it and asked me if he could play with it.. so i let him.. and after playing with it for a while, he advised me to wait for the new phone device that's supposed to come out before the end of the year.. he even told me that getting a G2 would be the same as downgrading as he feels that my HD2 is way way faster than the G2.. i told him i'm thinking about getting the vibrant because the port for our HD2 is nothing close to being perfect and that it's still running from the SD card.. again he discouraged me and told me to wait for the next phone device to come.. so i guess that's what i will do..
I'm surprised that you were in store and didn't test drive G2 for yourself, are you sure he is sale person?, he didn't sound like one.

as a matter of fact i did.. that's actually one of the main reason why i went to the store, as i've been reading a lot of good things on G2.. i went there to compare the G2 with the samsung vibrant.. but through the end, i didn't like the G2's performance despite the fact that it's the only phone right now on TMo that supports the HSPA+.. and yes he's a sales person.. i was surprised as well when he told me about the upcoming desire HD.. but that didn't happen until i showed my HD2 to him and let him play with it for a while.. maybe he knows that i'm a phone enthusiast and that i might just end up returning the phone within the 30 days period after playing with the G2.. who knows?? i think the G2 is wayyy overrated.. it performs within it's specs, nothing special..

Desire Z overclocks to exactly same speeds. Record OC is 1470MHz.
So they are same CPUs, clocked at different speeds. Bigger screen = higher clock to handle bigger screen.

[Q] Benchmark extremely low?

No matter how i try i usually get 12k on AnTuTu
my highest was 14k
Im lower than HoX and in the chart Nexus 4 shows 18k...
Anyone knows why mine is that much lower?
Is this a defect or what?
Some guy says ignore it benchmarks mean nothing but its not like im just a little bit lower...
It is 4-6k difference :S
Isn't that strange considering other people with the same device score 18k?

Is your phone laging, running slower other then the benchmarks? Also we need more info like what kernel/rom are you running.
What ROM/kernel are you running, what temperature was your phone at? Is there any apps running in background?
If a freshly installed stock ROM, with only AnTuTu installed, and you score 30% less than other Nexus 4 in benchmarking, then yes, there is a reason to worry about
Edit: for the record, I tried AnTuTu when I just got my N4, and always scored lower than their reference N4.
Sent from my Nexus 4 in a Faraday cage
I tried on these setups:
Stock with stock kernel
Stock with faux kernel
AOKP with included kernel
i just tried again with a fresh install of stock and scored 14,5k
well its still 3,5k difference what can I do about that any idea?
edit: basically what im worried about is that the only scores i see around my score are people with severely underclocked devices (600 MHz, 700 MHz)
seems like im the only one :S

Even Chainfire makes benchmark app. I would love to see how you tell Chainfire that his app means nothing. That would make a really interesting conversation with lots of good stuffs to learn
From my point of view, benchmark does not tell real world performance, however it is a wildly used, totally valid tool to compare *hardware* performance. After all, benchmarking (or hardware profilling, to be precise) is what separate a 1.2GHz CPU from a 1.5GHz CPU of identical architecture, isn't it? I'll take the 1.5GHz one even if it means nothing from your point of view
Sent from my Nexus 4 in a Faraday cage
I always get around mid to high 17k, sometimes 18... bone stock... Your situation is interesting to say the least...
I see the note II with 24k despite the fact it has quad A9s... This is why you should ignore the benchmarks.

Exynos soc and cpu z stats

Hey,
Following a thread I read recently, I have a question...
I'm talking about the exynos version...
When the screen is on and the device is idle, should any of the cores be on "stopped" state? (as it happens in the quallcom version if I remember correctly from my i9505...)
On my n910c, on cpu z app, none of them is stopped.
On idle, 4 cores are on 400 and 4 on 700.
I think I read it somewhere that that's the idle state in this soc and that it's cores are never on stopped state (when screen is on) but I'm not sure and I can't seem to find it....
How it should behave?
Thanks.

yeah that's how Samsung implemented, I think it has to do with the multi core something, if im not wrong the first Big.Little cpus were running only 4 at the time then the other 4 will kicked in when needed, but it was causing overheating issues I believe and it was nothing good, then they came out with the new one which the 8 cores will run at all times, and unbelievable it worked and for my experience with exynos this is the best Exynos chip yet, as well as the one used on the galaxy s6, its basically the same as 5433 but the new one is based on a 14nm soc, cheers:fingers-crossed:
In my cpu z stats and in other cpu monitor apps like cpu spy, a57 frequencies never go higher then 1300 ghz, It never goes does even when playing games or multitasking, does anyone else have this? I was thinking something wrong with my device But seems like antutu benchmarks are about 50k anyway

Does you phone lags? it feels slow? or something? if not don't even worry about that, the A57 is a powerful processor, remember most of the games only run on 1080p if lucky, also remember all phones perform differently, all cpus, gpus, kernels, don't worry your phone is fine mate, cheers:fingers-crossed:

No, it works fine but we on XDA are not happy with just FINE, that's why we dig forums get new info, tweak ad try new things
But that's the thing does everyone has similar observations or is it specific for my device? if you install Cpy Spy/BBS from app store and use it for some time, does it even has frequencies higher then 1300ghz ?

OnePlus X Benchmarks

Yup, the X has the AA variant which has a lower clocked CPU and GPU hence the differences between other SD801 chips.

U could say that. Putting sd801 doesn't mean that u can always expect the top notch performance. Not everyone does hardcore gaming on mobile leave that to pc. Looking at price point it's kinda perfect.
I knw some ppl would tell sd615 performs better but that's a newer chip.
Those scores really don´t do the OnePlus X justice. The device runs so smooth and fast it´s an incredible device for 250$! I had no lags at all since using it.
The oneplus x uses sd 8974AA
but the gpu is clocked at 578mhz just like AB and AC version
^ Interesting.
Specs and benchmarks aside, it's a really smooth and fluid experience. I can't tell the difference between the OPX and OPO regardless of the extra 5k or so in Antutu. They did a really good job with the hardware and software for a nice user experience.
Agreed with everyone!
I dont know why antutu benchmark is low on this device, it runs smooth and neverlags till now, even tough i have filled my device with all the daily apps i need ,
If u ask me, i guess oxygen os is again to be blamed here,
I m not sure about this, but on my previous device some custom rom offers a difference of almost 5-6 k. So i believe an update or custom rom might enhance the score,
But still antutu benchmark dosent matter to me if my device is running smoothly??
Yup ur right Oxygen OS is the enemy here... Can't wait for custom ROMs
do the benchmarks change after flashing the custom kernel? If so, can someone upload a pic of the new benchmarks and see how it compares?

Thanks, seems like benchmark didn't go up by much but the performance definitely is better !
41k
My antutu benchmark was 40801 with the stock kernel and stock cpu&gpu governor.
Changing both the CPU and GPU governors (on stock kernel) let me reach 43375.
I think there's room for further optimization.
By the way, the SOC version is nether AA or AB, since the complete code is
MSM8974PRO-AA,
just as this is a sort of "pro" version. In the table, the AA GPU frequency is 400 MHz, whereas in the OPX it is 578 MHz. I looks like qualcomm produced a newer version of the SOC, unsurprisingly the cited article, more than 1.5 years old, may didn't notice this.

I wouldn't hold to much stock in what the benchmarks have to say. On my one plus one some of the laggiest kernel's gave the best scores.
Though having said that has anyone looked in to the voltage tables and CPU binning? I suspect there is more useful information there than a whole bunch of benchmark scores.
I have always regarded CPU benchmarks to be more about management of heat and thermal throttling than user performance.
For example my old lg g2 would let the CPU bake at about 72° where as on my one plus one the CPU is pretty much brick walled at about 60°, thanks to my kernels very conservative thermal profile.
The result is disappointing benchmark scores of around 32-38 antutu's. But in day to day use the one plus one is much smoother than my old g2.
I could install the original cm12s and start scoring about 51 antutu's, but in day to day use that ROM is a lag monster in comparison to what I have now. Also I prefer not to thermally stress my phone to much with hot CPU's. That's what killed my g2.

S7 Edge low benchmark score/and gaming performance

Hello everyone! Got S7 edge 1 week ago and used the ordinary benchmarks to see the numbers, and i feel its pretty bad compared to what i see from other devices and compared to other s7 edge devices.. it almost pass 130k on antutu and the 3d perfomance its bad, almost every game i try it lags a bit. Sd820 model scores better on 3d. But your antutu score is normal. Some say they have bad gaming performance on both sd820 and exynos..I'm not seeing it on mine but maybe it's there?! Either way, there is no game that even remotely stresses the GPU on both models yet so it's most likely a SW issue which they will fix in the future.

Heat. Heat is what effects it the most. Try this, throw your phone in the fridge for 10 minutes and then benchmark. See what it scores then.
Some games run awesome and others run like crap. I think it may be optimization issues. Asphalt 8, Clash Royal and Trials Frontier run awesome with zero lag yet Hearthstone has lag all over the place.

I am still not happy with it, S820 needs some serious optimization with the android 6.0.x. It's slow and lags a lot.
