One question:
Why would you think that the boot animation consumes more battery because of the animation beeing white? The screen of the Z5C is IPS LCD and no AMOLED.

Sorry for the wrong section. Unfortunately my device restrict me from replacing bootanimation that are more than 2MB in OEM/Media. I thought everyone had the same problem. Sorry!

What kind of problem are you encountering? I tried to move a 4MB file in that folder and i have no problems.

When i copy to OEM folder. The progress bar become stuck and the copying process terminates.
I think the problem persist for all sizes. There is no problem while deleting the file.

Really strange to me...however if you don't replace the bootanimation in OEM folder you'll be unable to change the the stock animation from my experience. Infact it seems that the OS first picks up the file from the OEM folder ( as designed by Sony), before looking into the system/media folder

Uninstall your old cab and try this cab (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=35578&d=1245587119). Next time use the Q and A Section instead of creating a new thread.

a few days ago i posted a question about turning a update.zip file to an .apk file. it worked but i couldnt install the live wallpaper because it was trying to overwrite a system file (the stock nexus LWP). im not familiar with adb so i tried using root explorer to delete the original file and replace it with the .apk of the wallpaper i wanted. unfortunately it didnt work. can someone provide the steps necessary to replace a system file like a stock wallpaper with a custom one? it would be a big help.
did you delete or just overwrite the original file?
Couldn't get the problem, same as asked by Chugga.......you can't delete or overwrite/merge the existing file??
BTW: I'm using ESFile explorer and enabled "Root explorer" and "Mount File System" in settings/root settings and never had any issues modifiying system content.
Cheers.....LinChina
Correct, either rename the original file or delete it.
I think this is more of a developer problem, i believe he has an apk file which replaces files. Like an update.zip file replaces files he turned his into an apk. But in order for the apk to overwrite system files you must call su permissions in the onCreate method.
Oh, I thought he turned a flashable.zip with a live wallpaper into and installable apk.
What is the reason behind making an flashable.zip into an apk?

Figured it out. There were some Syntax errors, some undefined locations, and an unsigned apk. All is well now.

Please use the 'search' tool..
Plus VigiDroid recently typed a guide for resizing .xml's.
A real dev should know what to do instead of opening these useless threads.
You shouldn't be too harsh to him. He was either unsure or confused on what to do.

Look at the other threads he have opened. The answers to all his questions are just somewhere at XDA (I think he can imagine that) so the next step is using the 'search' tool.
I think everyone can do this.

Wait did you even read my guide...? Nothing about values-mdpi... If you read the guide correctly you would learn that to resize you have to edit the values in xml files in /res/layout or /res/layout-mdpi or /res/layout-port or /res/layout-land
And it doesn't just happen all correctly with one change of a file and majority of the time when you change something you notice nothing has changed, this happens to me all the time, it just takes patience to get it right!

Sorry my friend but i must correct you the .xml files that you must edit are not in the res/layout or res/layout-mdpi folder they are indeed in the res/values and res/values-mdpi folders unless i'm mistaken but as i resized your lockscreen for SenseOnFire rom those were the .xml files i edited

Are you questioning my experience? haha
Now you see it seems I have overlooked lockscreen (which is why I could not get it to resize) nearly every other app you have to modify the .xml files in the layout folder but as a general rule you should just go and look into every .xml file and try and note if anything might be related to a layout..

ok, what have you done with those jpegs? where have you placed them?
Got to this thread cause I am no expert, I know basics about it.
HERE you find also information, HOW to do it
You have to use .png as file format not .jpg
Edit: also you have to name the part folders without the space in between. Yours is "part 0" and it has to be "part0"
Edit2: also your zip file is compressed. You have to set compression method to store.

I could make them TWRP flashable. I'll try and get around to it.
If you're putting it in /system/media/bootanimation.zip and it still isn't working it might be a permissions problem. 644 is how it is supposed to be set.

Hey there buddy, I was reading this thread and it seems to be what I am sort of looking for. I have a XT1572 and have never updated the software as I liked the boot animation (sounds silly)
Anyhow, the phone seems to be having issues now and I really need to update the OS but want to retain the startup animation. I believe it is small world, the one that shows the globe with a plane flying over it etc.
Is this possible and if so how please.
