Search perhaps? The only official, verifiable news is we will get it officially from Moto, it was on their official blog last week. There is no other news.
As far as when, all speculation but it's assumed the very end of this year or beginning of next.

Will Moto X style/pure get Android N update?

I do hardly believe that Moto X style/pure might get N but there is no official news about it...
I tweeted Moto_Us and Moto_India but got same reply that
"We currently have no info.. For more info kindly stay updated"
Even Moto/Lenovo didnt make any announcement..
Whats going on?
Anyone has ideas what the truth is??
no problem ..custom roms here :fingers-crossed:

guarenteed will not be a problem. lol. gotta love the devs out there crankin roms and ports out. #unlockedbootloader
Voted no only because I'm doubtful we'll get it officially, but as the other people have said... custom roms bro.
I think it will get 7.0 by the end of the year. It got 6.0 pretty fast, and is still pretty much the flagship of Motorola. People just lost hope because of the ignored 6.0.1 update. I'm hoping to switch back to a Nexus anyway so I don't have to worry about updates anymore.

Being one of the few devices on official android site I think means we're getting 7.0 pretty soon

That site has been mentioned before... It has nothing to do with Nougat, just Android in general. The fact it appears there is not relevant.

But is it still a flagship with the new Moto Z's coming out? Way things have gone with Lenovo I'd not put money on it BUT never say never.
Well, if they abandon any real support for this phone in one year, I won't be coming back to Lenovo/Motorola. I'll just have to decide if expandable memory is still a deal maker/breaker with the next gen and go Nexus or something else.

Agreed!
Android 7 will be there!!!
With X-Style there aren't any technical/hardware issue or even a minor reason for not supporting the Android 7. So with this the liability of providing or not providing Android 7 will be with Motorola (Lenovo). Providing with Latest Android version being a USP of Moto phones, there is very chance that they will not risk reputation with this phone by excluding the update.
In-case this is not done for some reason then my steps would be:
1) Root and install Android 7 rom.
2) Buy a new Nexus phone.
3) Collect Invoice of all my Moto phone (Namely: Moto G (8gb), Moto G (16gb), Moto E (4gb), Moto G3, Moto G Turbo, Moto X Style).
4) Submit the collected Invoice plus the nexus invoice to Motorola with update as why they lost a loyal customer.
*Infact I was planing this for the delayed patch, and made my disappointment by tweeting the same to motorola. Were they assured me of early notification of update.*
[rant] motorola sucks/how to kill a perfectly good device
Motorola/Lenovo service has been horrible both in replacing defective hardware and with software updates even though they committed to timely release! They will probably at some point release Nougat on this device but really how long will it take (see where we are with MM updates!!) ? And as far as custom roms are concerned we're seeing so little developper activity for this device that I think everyone has already moved on! This was my first non-Nexus device in a long while and I'm not eager to duplicate the experience. It's really too bad as I really liked the Moto X pure. :crying:
Ffs these threads need to stop. Yes the Moto x pure 2015 will get 7. IT WILL TAKE TIME release of n is rolling out give it a few months

7.1.1 is coming !

Hey everyone
I heard the Android 7.1.1 update for Galaxy S7 & S7 edge is in testing at carriers and is just about to come for us
Anyone heard when exactly ?
The Beta testers will probably get it first. Release date is probably somewhere near february or even march.
I'm starting to seriously doubt if 7.0 will ever come. I rather stick to MM right now as not much dev been going for the Google Pixel.

Because it is only a beta release and AT&T does not allow betas.
Final version is rumored to be released on February or March, and even then, carrier specific releases will probably take longer.

(Within 2017)Moto Representative Confirmed O timeline for Z Play.

Moto has already released the list of devices getting O ,some weeks ago.
Today, I was with chat with the moto representative, trying to get to know the timeline for O Update in the Z Play.
And, yes she told that it will get Very Soon.
She is assuring that it'll definitely get it Very soon.
Then i reconfirmed the device and asked if it'll get before 2017,and yes it'll definitely get before (Within)2017.
Error: By mistake i have written "before 2017" actually it's "Within 2017".
[See the Images attached]
I'll believe when I'll see - Moto is not very trustworthy as for updates. I've been waiting for Moto X Force update more than half a year (to 7.x), my Wife is still waiting for that 7.x update for Moto X Play, so they promising a lot, but have problem with delivering...

That is the case with Moto X force but it'll not happen with the Z Series as it was released by lenovorola and not Motorola.
Well, as a matter of fact, I don't really care - Oreo hasn't got any interesting, revolutionary or even evolutionary changes, that I'll be looking for. For me it should be 7.2, not 8.x.
I wouldn't count on that considering the fact how long it took them to update form 7.0 to 7.1.1 and that we're still lagging over a month behind with security updates. On the other hand, 8.0 has own set of issues now and sometimes it's better to wait for patched version than just rush things.
Exactly, some people are just bugging vendor to provide update ASAP and then complain about bugs. Ridiculous. I would rather wait for 8.1 or similar instead of stuck with 8.0.
Sent from my LG-V940n using Tapatalk
Well, not quite. If vendor is able and known for releasing fast updates then sure, update straigh away and then do small incremenetal ones as fast as possible as soon as bugs are found. That would be ideal. Sadly, this rule rarely apply here and vendors tend to release bugged firmware and then take another couple months to fix the problems.
Even you're not agree at first, later you explained exactly what I meant. Choosing between getting buggy 8.0 and then nothing for months or ever, or wait a bit longer and get bug free 8.x. I'm choosing second option.

Well, he or she never confirmed the 2017, you just want to read it that way. What is confirmed, is the "soon" (Motorola-soon)
And I wouldn't give too much on the word of a support employee.

It removes FUSE, replacing it by SDCardFS! That means:
- All file system accesses will be faster (probably about 20%).
- The old bug not being able to set a timestamp is said to be gone.
This is a change which I'm hoping for since start of 2009 when they introduced that bug with Android 4.0, extending it to all file systems with Android 4.4. This is my main reason for rooting every device (beside easy backup possibilities).

Oreo update

Does anyone has news about when will oreo update be out for g5 plus? :crying:
Ohkay... 91 views and no replies. I mean... I guess it's because that kind of information can be easily Googled but here we go...
Hmmm, the Oreo update should drop by December. The last article I read said something about the update getting ready by the end of this year.
I mean, optimistically speaking, yes, it's happening. However, don't be surprised if we have to wait until January.
Or go flash yourself Oreo! It's super easy!

Moto is currently carrying out Oreo soak test on Moto Z, Z Play and maybe on Z2 Play. I read that on a reddit thread and GSMArena posted the same a few days ago. If I were you, I'd keep a close watch on the reddit threads for Oreo soak test's progress
Honestly... If we get it before Android P is in beta, I would be surprised. The G5 (non-S) series is towards the bottom of devices Moto is concerned with getting Nougat, newer devices will get it first and Lenovo's recent history of update releases is pretty poor. My opinion is we can look for it maybe March to May of next year, although I could be off a couple months one way or the other.

And Moto X Pure/Style, and the Moto G 2015... oh wait, that one never did get it's last upgrade. :/
Basically, since when Google had Motorola the update life cycle and speed of releases was improving the entire time... Since Lenovo got a hold of Moto, it's completely reversed to beyond where Motorola was at before Google got them. I like the hardware, but the software update cycle leaves a lot to be desired.
Anyway, this thread wasn't meant to be a P&M session, so I will let it go at that.

When are we getting oreo?

I've been watching some videos and photos of people getting Oreo on their moto G5 plus, yet I haven't seen any stock Oreo roms
What is happening?
And thanks for reading my not so good English
It is a beta testing of the stock ROM. Only a select few people that have enrolled in the Motorola Feedback Network will get it. The global release will happen in a couple of months. You have to wait.

I didn't think so, because we all know Moto does NOT give specifics about updates... EVER.... they never have and in the official forums they have been very clear that is their policy and they never will give specifics.
We all want it to come out, but making up stuff or spreading unsubstantiated rumors does not help.

As a long time Motorola user I can tell you that all these chat Infos are nonsens.
As @acejavelin said, Motorola never announced anything about update ETA. You will find these " some chat helper said" posts from Falcon over Titan until now and always the answers are useless.
All that these guys are able to do is telling you to do a factory reset. They have no clue when an update arrives, maybe they are told to say something like "within the next weeks" just to calm down the countless users that are asking for it.
These posts are useless even in combination with a screenshot. So don't post rumours that will never be confirmed and don't help anyone.
And don't crosspost these stuff in several threads!

I doubt this would happen, Moto users are not so lucky in the firmware update department!
But if you say so...then "I would give away free sweets riding a royal elephant" like those royal kings.
Coming back to the point..i strongly disagree that moto would give a certain timeline or a date, their culture is different; they believe in uncertainty and chaos.
Moto would make a grand entry with (nectar) Oreo (ahem..32-bit) for their dying devices, like a savior.
Peace out.
Motorola link saying Oreo is available
I found a link saying Oreo is available and I can't post the link because I'm a newbie on this forum. You should be able to find it by searching "MS130856 motorola" on google.
It doesn't seem to be available to my phone. Any idea when the Oreo 8.1 info might have been posted and when it will actually be available on my G5 plus?

Depends on where you come from. Oreo is available in India and Brazil, some users also confirm it's rolled out in Mexico and GB.
Threre are several threads around about it, also some OTA are available also fastboot firmwares.
Just search in this forum and you'll find all informations. For pending regions: Motorola never gave a timeline and most probably never will.
Edit:
Oreo won't make your life better, gives you wealth or makes your love life better. No offense, just kidding....
