SOLVED! It was F2FS on /system that is causing me all this problem. Reverting back to ext4 solved the problem!
Problem:
Hello! I would like to ask something in regards to an error occurred during activating a phone.
I recently performed a factory reset using TWRP in hopes of flashing a new ROM. It was a success. It took me around 5-10 minutes in the first boot and there it is... the activation screen with "Welcome!" message and languages to select. What seems to be the problem is, I can't bypass this screen.
First of all, there are 3 apps reported to be stopped; Google Play Services, Internet, and Samsung account. The popups show at an annoying rate but it was bearable.
Chronology:
1. I was stuck at "Checking connection" screen when I have a working connection (both Wifi and mobile data). Upon showing the "Checking connection" screen, I was greeted with 1 popup saying Google Play Services has stopped. So, I did a workaround by removing the SIM card and did not connect to any Wifi. I can bypass that screen!
2. Then comes the set date and time screen. I pressed next and comes the "Name" screen where I can put my first name and last name there. Now this is the problem. The 'next' button is available but there is no respond. I was stuck there.
The solution I tried:
1. Remove the SIM card, did not connect to any Wifi
2. Install separate Nano-GAPPS
Now. If any of you can enlighten me to a proper solution as I am running out of ideas to input what keywords should I put in the search box, I would be very grate[/ful

I can't remember the exact error message but my phone will randomly restart and produce a SIM card error, prompting me to restart again. Things go back to normal after the 2nd reboot - this tends to happen every day.
I've searched all IceColdInsomnia - 7.0 AOKP forums and these Q & A forums as well to no avail :-( Anybody have experience with this issue?
Thanks in advance,
Rob

I've seen this error before. It happens totally randomly. I've even gotten it with no reboot, all that happened was my launcher force closed. I would press OK to restart the phone and same thing - it would reboot fine. Then I just started pressing the back button to remove the error box instead of rebooting. I would be connected to the network so my SIM was fine.
I'm guessing something is triggering a faulty error message. Every time I had it there didn't appear to be an error but the dialog box appears anyway. I've since switched ROMs but if you can get a logcat when it happens (search XDA on how to do that) and pass it along to blackwing182 he might be able to figure it out.
It reminds me of when you suddenly kill the power on your PC and Windows tells you "Windows was shut down unexpectedly, now I need to spend 35 minutes checking for errors!" even though everything is fine
Recently, I factory reset my device and continued to update and install all my apps again. After countless hours of setup, I go into setup S Voice (setting up Wake Up command and what not), then I restarted.
Now, when I go to ask S Voice a question, be it "tell me a joke" or "what time is it?" I usually get the response "Please try again" or "I am unable to assist you, please restart the application" after waiting for about 30 seconds or sometimes the app just shows the loading circle and doesn't respond with anything, going back to the mic button again. Nothing further is reported just that. I must say on my previous device the Galaxy S6, Svoice worked fine! I could ask it these questions without a hiccup, but now these problems arise.
I have cleared the app's data and cache as well as uninstalling all updates to the app and reinstalling all updates (as I thought maybe the update download got corrupted) and yet the problem persists. I restarted the device too, still a no go. One thing I must mention though, commands such as "open Gallery" work fine and open instantly.
Please help!

Did you solve this? I have the exact same problem. I did a factory reset as well. Ugh!
OK this is weird.
I have my Note 3 running on Norma ROM v17 without problems and a ton of apps installed.
Few days ago I tried to use smart select (with the pen) when a toast message prompted "Unable to capture screenshot. Prevented by security policy." . Well I just ignored for the moment thinking that something went wrong with facebook app which I was trying to capture.
However this seems to be permanent behavior. I can't take screenshots neither by Power + Home combination neither by SmartCapture not even if I try to use a third party application!
Did anyone had faced the same problem again?
Can somebody point me to the direction to solve this?
One last addition.
I don't know if it is related to this problem but I have to report it. The device boot animation is getting resized to top left of the screen every time the device boots. What on earth can cause this?
I"m back wirh a solution.
I was for more days trying to discover how to solve this problem.
Finally I decided to backup my data and wipe the system.
And then I noticed a command lying in the menu called "Reset settings" which I had to try instead of resetting to factory default the phone.
So this command cleared the settings (I really dont know which particular settings were cleared though ) without losing my apps, data, phone setup etc.
The problem fixed.
:good:
Hello everyone,
after the pie update 10.0.4.0 I am noticing a strange problem, which I am trying to figure out right now.
It began, that after waking up and picking up my phone, the lock screen pattern was enabled again (I am using the smart lock feature at home when connected to my wifi). On the phone there was a notification like "After a reboot you have to enter the pin again to unlock the phone" or something similiar.
After some time I noticed, that the phone wakes up by itself, the screen comes on and there is no carrier signal ("emergency calls only") for a very short time (maybe a second or two). After that the notification "Checking SD-card" appears. So it seems like the SIM & SD-card would have been unmounted by the system. It can happen everytime and is not related to a specific app.
What I did:
1.) I put the SD-card into my PC and checked it for corruption
2.) Disabled some gallery apps, which I installed last december
3.) Waited for the february 10.0.5.0 update
Unfortunately, without success.
Today I was able to note the exact time the issue happend again (14:51 o'clock) and pulled a logcat. I wanted to read an Focus news article from the notification tray and then it happened. Because I am not sure, if a hardware or software problem is the cause , I need your help:
It would be awesome, if someone could have a look at the attached logcat and give me some hints and advices what might be the problem.
Thank you very much!
I'm having a bunch of problems, most of it seems to be related, but i'm not sure. I was having these problems in android 9, and they persisted after i made the update to 10.
The main problem is that I cannot update or install the apps from Google Play store reliably. The download gets stucked with 'Download pending' or somewhere between 90-99%. My connection is fine, no network problems whatsoever. The same problem happens in many wifi networks and in mobile connection. Sometimes, after rebooting the phone a lot of times, i can install 1 or 2 apps before getting stuck again.
I tried to force stop/wipe data from download manager, google play services, google play store and did not help. In fact, now is buggier than ever, and i got a permanent play store notification with a never ending progress bar saying "Concluindo a configuraĆ§Ć£o" (portuguese for finishing configuration).
Other minor issues:
a lot of times I do not get any messages/notifications until I unlock my phone. My whatsapp web stop working, then I unlock my phone and start to receive 4875389475 messages.
Sometimes google app notify me of some news, i click the notification and nothing happens. HOURS LATER, the news shows up in my screen when i'm doing something else.
The Google Calendar widget does not show the content on the home screen (keeps saying 'loading'), but if I open the app, it works ok (inside the app, not in the widget).
I can't sync time with my carrier (always worked on every phone). But time is correct, nonetheless
Anyone having problems like these? Any solution? I don't know more what to do =(
Try doing any one or all of these depending on if one fixes it over the other:
1. Boot into recovery mode (power + volume up + bixby buttons) and do a factory data reset. This will erase everything on the phone.
2. No dice? Find out your bootloader version and flash the stock firmware you're on with Odin. This will also erase everything on the phone.
3. Still nothing? Well then it's time to claim warranty!
