Lot's of problems (mainly unable to install/update apps) - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

I'm having a bunch of problems, most of it seems to be related, but i'm not sure. I was having these problems in android 9, and they persisted after i made the update to 10.
The main problem is that I cannot update or install the apps from Google Play store reliably. The download gets stucked with 'Download pending' or somewhere between 90-99%. My connection is fine, no network problems whatsoever. The same problem happens in many wifi networks and in mobile connection. Sometimes, after rebooting the phone a lot of times, i can install 1 or 2 apps before getting stuck again.
I tried to force stop/wipe data from download manager, google play services, google play store and did not help. In fact, now is buggier than ever, and i got a permanent play store notification with a never ending progress bar saying "Concluindo a configuraĆ§Ć£o" (portuguese for finishing configuration).
Other minor issues:
a lot of times I do not get any messages/notifications until I unlock my phone. My whatsapp web stop working, then I unlock my phone and start to receive 4875389475 messages.
Sometimes google app notify me of some news, i click the notification and nothing happens. HOURS LATER, the news shows up in my screen when i'm doing something else.
The Google Calendar widget does not show the content on the home screen (keeps saying 'loading'), but if I open the app, it works ok (inside the app, not in the widget).
I can't sync time with my carrier (always worked on every phone). But time is correct, nonetheless
Anyone having problems like these? Any solution? I don't know more what to do =(

Try doing any one or all of these depending on if one fixes it over the other:
1. Boot into recovery mode (power + volume up + bixby buttons) and do a factory data reset. This will erase everything on the phone.
2. No dice? Find out your bootloader version and flash the stock firmware you're on with Odin. This will also erase everything on the phone.
3. Still nothing? Well then it's time to claim warranty!

[Q]Network connectivity & Dexter's mod 1.41

Hello,
I would have posted this under the development posts but the forum won't allow me to...grrrr.
Anyway, I am using Dexter's mod 1.41 with the display settings fix also installed. Everything works great.
Except...I keep getting network errors whenever I try to download an app from the official marketplace, I also get them when sync'ing my dropbox, trying to download from the appoke apps store, signing into twitter, and a number of other apps. My browser works fine. Sometimes I can reboot and it starts working fine and then a few hours later I start getting the "network connection error has occurred" message from various apps again.
I did try reinstalling 1.41 & doing a complete wipe/restore after & still had the same problem eventually. It worked fine for awhile as I was able to go to the marketplace and download all of my apps again.
Anyway any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
i might ask if your network problems occur after the tablet was recently asleep. it seems, at least latest stock, that the power profile is set to sleep wifi/network connections when the display is off.
you might want to wait 5-10 seconds after waking up, or i suggest putting the power control widget on your homescreen and tapping the wifi button twice to re establish your network connection if you're getting network errors.
worked for me when i had download/network errors.

Yeah Forgot to mention that, but no its random when it starts happening. But definitely not just when it has been just woken up.
Nevertheless I am going to try what you suggested. I couldn't at the time when I wrote the post as it wasn't working. I turned it off and removed the SD Card, mounted it over on my PC, then copied your recent ROM update as well as Elocity's most recent firmware update, put the SD card back in, tried to reboot into recovery mode but for some reason it went into a normal boot. When I unlocked it, for some reason was asking me to sign into Google just as if I has flashed it but I definitely didnt. I've done that a bunch of time, this was definitely a normal reboot with dexter's 1.41 mod still installed. I canceled out of the google login after waiting 10 min for it to connect to Google's servers. (it was connected to my wifi network or at least I had the icon with the bars indicating I was connected to wifi) When I got to the main screen it started working normally. I went onto the market and downloaded Angry Birds Rio. Plus there were a bunch of updates for my other apps. So it is almost acting like I was not previously signed in with my google account, except that I did not relogin since I canceled it before finishing. Also I dont imagine that Dropbox would have been affected as it has its own login. But that is working fine too once I re-logged in.
It does seem to be intermittent. If it were the "not connecting after coming out of sleep mode" issue wouldnt rebooting fix that when it happens? I try that everytime I get the network errors and it works maybe 25% of the time.
Thanks for the response!
Did the 1.41 install and three patches also. Display still FC all the time. other then that works OK!.

[Q] Some apps have started closing immediately on opening

Earlier today, a few apps on my Nexus 7 have just started closing within one or two seconds of opening them.
Google Search Bar, Facebook and Catch Note all close within a couple of seconds after opening them. I have used them fairly frequently for the last few weeks with no problems. Other apps, such as Twitter, Chrome and some games all work fine.
I have turned my device on and off a couple of times, but the problem still persists. Any ideas?
The problem is still occurring for me.
Gmail, Calendar etc... all also closing within a second or two of opening. Is this a common problem?
Is your N7 all stock or do you have a custom rom?...custom kernel?
You really need to provide some information in order to get help.
I haven't seen it in the OP so: Reinstall them

I haven't rooted my Nexus, or anything like that, it's all stock.
I just uninstalled Facebook, then downloaded it again. It seems to be working. Other apps still have the same problem. I assume that I have to do the same for all other apps - but is that even possible for apps such as Gmail, Calendar and the Search Bar?
Uninstalling and re-downloading hasn't worked as I had hoped.
It seems to have worked for Facebook. But I did the same for Catch Notes, and although it worked for a minute or so when setting it up, after creating a test note, it force-closed, I opened the app up again, and the old problem of closing within 2 seconds happened.
Other apps such as Gmail, I uninstalled, 'updated' again, and nothing changed, still closes immediately. There is no error message, it just returns to the home screen.
I thought that Task Killer might have been a problem, but I uninstalled that, restarted the Nexus, and the problem persists. Actually, when I turned off my Nexus, and tried to turn it back on, it was stuck on the 'coloured X' screen for a few minutes, I had to hold the power button down, and turn it on again. I'm starting to worry about my Nexus now.
Update:
A couple of other odd ones.
Google Drive doesn't even open. When clicking on the icon, the normal shading effect happens, but nothing else, no window even for a second.
Google Calendar opens, and just has a white screen, as if it is ready to load the calendar, but nothing loads. It doesn't close, just remains on the white screen, which can't be backed out of without pressing the home button.
Have you tried doing a cold-boot on the device? Maybe another app running in the background is causing conflicts. Where there any recent apps that you've downloaded?

I have just followed the instructions for a 'cold-boot' and now my Nexus can't get beyond the 'X' screen...
I have held the power button down a number of times, and tried turning it on again - but the 'X' continues to be displayed for over 20 minutes.
Just managed to turn my device on - but the problem still exists.
I didn't download any new apps that seem to have caused this problem. Though I think an app might have force closed and the Nexus displayed an error message such as "android/Google system stopped working" (probably different) and my home screen went blank for a while. Everything reappeared though after a short while. It could have stemmed from that.
Sorry about another bump, but i'm wondering if anybody has any more ideas before I go for a factory reset?
Edit: Actually, I think that I have found the cause of the problem. I just opened a game (Let's Golf 3) that I was playing before the problem started and after a few seconds, a message popped up saying "Unfortunately, Launcher has stopped". When I press OK, it returns after a few seconds.
I pressed the sleep button, and my Nexus turned off. Now trying to turn it on again, having some problems getting past the 'X' screen again. If I finally get in, should I uninstall the game? Any other solutions to this problem?
If your N7 can boot up, go the isolate & identify routines - disable/uninstall or freeze the golf game - do a normal shutdown/restart.
If normal functionality is back, you've just found the source. Not a gamer myself except for Angry Birds ... , but from the Play Store description, it access & make changes to system & protocol, etc. as you should contact/email golf's tech support for resolution. Otherwise, take a look of any background running apps or widgets, newly added or updated.

Thanks for the help.
I couldn't get my N7 to boot up, so I finally gave in and did a hard reset (by holding power + volume down, Recovery Mode, then wipe data etc...) but my N7 still won't boot up
I have wiped it twice, and rebooted it, yet it is constantly stuck on the 'X' screen. What on earth can I do?

I would flash the stock system image.

How would one do that?
My N7 isn't rooted or unlocked.

You will need to download the factory image, unlock your bootloader, and flash it. There is a guide on this forum, it might be stickied.

I was hoping there was going to be a resolution to this other than a "flash to stock" suggestion... My Nexus started doing this exact same thing this past Sunday when it ran out of power completely and needed to be recharged. After it powered back up from charging the following apps quit working altogether or just started quitting once it appears they try to access data: Netflix, Currents, Zillow, Gmail, HBO Go, Press (though Google RSS Reader works), NVision, TegraZone and a couple others. I have done the reboot thing as well and almost had this thing brick again (stuck at X), but I managed to clear the data cache from the fastboot menu and it started up again. I'm now at the point where I'm troubleshooting individual apps but the clear data/cache, uninstall - reinstall process isn't working for any of the broken apps. This is now the 4th time I will be facing a 'flash to stock' situation as it appears that I've had every problem that leads to this 'fix'. I'll try a couple more things (mostly deleting and clearing everything) but I'm really frustrated with how many times I've had to flash this damn thing. sigh.

[Q] Google Play Store won't update apps

When I try to update apps in the Google Play Store, it says, "Downloading" and displays the progress bars, but doesn't actually download anything.
I'm using a rooted Nexus 7 with stock ROM (no mods).
Things I have tried
I have tried clearing data and cache for the Google Play Store and Google Play Services, with and without wifi enabled.
I have tried uninstalling updates for the Google Play Store (how do I reinstall them?).
I have tried removing my Google account and adding it again.
I have tried powering down and restarting -- this causes the Play Store to download for about 5 seconds after I start back up before it stalls again.
I have verified that the wifi connection works just fine.
Other oddities
When I tried to install the recent OTA update, It didn't work (google android on his back with the message, "Error!"), but restarting the device seemed to return everything to normal again. This has happened twice now, and I don't know how to solve it.
Occasionally, the play store will start actually downloading the updates for a minute or two (enough to get several updates at once). Then is stops as suddenly as it started.
Same thing here since I moved to PURITY, then I just moved back to PA 4.0 beta still same problem.

So a couple things.
First off, do you have a custom bootloader? it seems as you don't as the Android on his back is the stock, but I just wanted to check
Have you ever tried installing an update one at a time? sometimes when I start to receive updates for apps, it just sits there indefinitely, but when I stop all updates and manually go into each app that needs updating and update, that works. I would give that a try
I think I fixed my problem.
I cleared data/cache of Google Play Store in #Settings #Apps #All
But I had to do it multiple time time before it accepted to download again.
And also at one point I formatted the sdcard but still wouldn't download so I tried again multiple times to clear data of Google Play Store.
Now it keeps updating all my apps (update all).

Anyone have issues where apps take FOREVER to start downloading on nougat?

This wasn't a problem until I updated the phone a while after I got it. When I go to the play store and download a new app, it shows "downloading" with the weird fragmented bar moving across the progress bar, but the download refuses to start for like 5 minutes to sometimes several hours or a day. I've turned off every power and data saving mode I could find and it still does this. Factory reset, force stop, clear cache, clear data on all google play related apps (yes, including the system apps), and it WON'T STOP DOING IT.
Haven't had this issue on my Z3Z but I have had this issue on my Nexus 7 tablet once or twice. It randomly resolved itself I don't remember how. You can try deleting your google account, uninstalling all the play store and google play updates and reinstalling them. That may help.
Good luck.
I have this issue too and have been unable to resolve it.
I have the same issue. I'm to the point where I simply leave them be and eventually they download and updates. It sometimes works if I restart the download, reboot the phone, switch from wifi to data to wifi again, things like that.
This might be overkill, but ever since I factory reset the phone I no longer have this issue

Try clearing the cache of the google play store app in settings, if not then all its data. Also, if you just upgraded to Nougat it would be wise to make a factory reset (in recovery mode) to clean up the residual Marshmallow files, if you don't feel comfortable with that, then at least clear your device's cache and Dalvik (in recovery mode)

Multiple problems-Notifications delayed, Play Store downloads stuck, Some apps broken

Hi, I have a Galaxy S10+ on Verizon in the USA.
Having a few major problems that I just can't figure out:
1. When I try to download apps from the Play store, the download gets to 99 or 100% but never completes the installation. The fix is to go into settings/apps/show system apps/download manager and "force stop." Then the installation will complete.
2. Some apps don't work correctly. For example the CBS Radio News app starts streaming audio, then stops a few seconds later. And the ParKing app sometimes records my location upon disconnection from my car's bluetooth, and sometimes it doesn't.
3. Notifications from all apps are totally unreliable. Sometimes they'll come right away. Sometimes not for hours, and sometimes all at once. And sometimes when tapping on a notification it will bring you into the app. while sometimes it will do nothing.
WHAT I TRIED:
Tried rebooting, clearing data and cache on problem apps.
Cleared data and cache on "Google", Google Play Store and google play services.
Cleared phone's cache partition.
Uninstalled and reinstalled broken apps.
I THOUGHT I FOUND THE SOLUTION:
All these problems went away a month or so ago when I logged out of my google account on the phone. Iogged back in and it all worked great! I thought the problem was solved, but now it's all happening again. Logged of the the google account and back in, but it's still broken this time.
AND:
I had similar problems with my Galaxy S7, and thought the new phone would fix these problems! Is it possible there's something wrong with my google account? How could I have the same problems on both phones?
I haven't yet tried a factory reboot on the S10+, but I did do it on the S7, and after working for a while, the problems came back.
Additional info:
Mobile data and wifi have strong signals.
No custom ROMs, not rooted or anything, just stock the way it came. Only downloaded apps from Play Store. Nothing sideloaded.
All battery optimization is turned off. Power mode set to "high performance."
I've looked everywhere for a solution and have come here to the ultimate experts. You're my last hope!
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
