T-Mobile tethering question. 7.0 - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What does adding the "tether_dun_required 0" do exactly? I've modified the buildprop and modified the APN to add "dun" but in Android 7.0 there is no settings file so the dun mod doesn't get done.

Spent hours upon hours Still no wifi tether mod

I have att s4 on tmobile service
How in the world do we get the root tether mod to work...
Ive tried the provision apk method. .
Disabled hot spot still no luck.
Is there a 100% working method for tether with root.
Trevemod? Anything?

You tried these instructions? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2535141
And you made sure your T-Mobile APN is set right? You might have to check the T-Mobile section, the provision APK could be carrier specific, but I've no evidence on that myself. Just a guess.
The carrier data being used on the att s4 phone I believe is irrelevant. .
Its the block in the phones file system
I know on tmobile s4 you can trevemod
Ive tried foxfi treve mod apks many tether apks.
I am rooted I have perfect lte data.
Theres No up to date info on it.
If you Google about it there's talk about this in march.

I have the exact same issue, now that I have moved up to MK2, and using it on TMOUS. I would love to hear of somebody that doesn't get the invalid SIM message, and got it to work.
Work trips are a hassle without a means to tether.

I got it to work all you have to do is not mess up on one step.
Download the modified tether provision apk from the general forum
First go to the settings/Application Manager/all find AT&T hotspot click Disable
Next
Rename the 2 existing files using a root browser like rom toolbox
Rename existing tetherprovision.apk
To tetherprovision.bak
And rename the odex file to
Tetherprovision.bak2
Go back to the file explorer and find the downloaded new tether provision apk
In whatever folder you download it too
Copy the new modified tether provision apk into the same folder that you rename the files.
Make sure you set the permissions correctly.
Next
Reboot the phone the trick to getting it to work is go back to settings Application Manager all find the AT&T hotspot and enable it again.
So all in all the trick is to disable it before you make the Rename changes then reboot then re enable it then give it a shot it works.

Question about edits to my apn

So I've been reading about how users here are able to edit their apn under settings on firmware PF2 but im on PF2 also and all my apn's are greyed out, along with the "add" button. I've read that users dont have to be rooted in order to change their apn's, so im not rooted either and I still cant edit them. Is there something that I'm missing? Does it have something to do with a my msl and a edit in my dialer under the ##data## menu?

you have to be rooted now to do it. Supposedly some people had access to it straight out of the box but lost access to the apn settings after updating there software.

So wait a minute, other users are on the same firmware im on, which is PF2, and they claim to be able to change their apn settings without root, so how can they change their apn settings without root on firmware PF2 when im on the same firmware, PF2 , and i still cannot change those damn apn settings? Im not rooted either... what the heck is going on? Lmao....

I had this problem as well. Once I rooted the phone, I lost the APN settings. Still, I had root so I downloaded Xposed Framework then installed the Gravity Box module.
Once in Gravity Box it will allow you to alter your APN settings accordingly. Give it a try.
or you can use the app shortcut master lite to change apn settings without Xposed and gravity box.
