I have been having a problem lately...when I am connected to wifi the cellular connection stays on. In the status bar the 4GLTE doesn't fade out like it should. I feel like this could be draining my battery. Screenshot below to see them both on in status bar.

Here's a few things you can try:
Turn off Download Booster
Turn off Name Caller ID
Turn on Wifi Calling
One of those is most likely the culprit so try one at a time to see what may be causing your problem.

Hey thanks for the reply. Download booster and Name Caller ID were already off and turning wifi calling off had no effect.

Oh ok, maybe this will help then, go to Settings -> Backup and Reset -> Reset Network Settings
Try resetting your settings then connecting to your wifi again.
Turn off volte, or it has to be the vzw caller id.

Would it continually be searching for 3g or something? I was reading that you canot actually turn off the data services on the Xoom, so how would it handle not being activated? Anything extra running in the background?

No it won't. Also there is a switch to deactivate the 3g in the wireless settings menu.
I just put mine in airplane mode. It turns the radio completely off.

Same here. My only issue with this setup is that rebooting leaves you with your Wifi off.

Thank you, I understand that option will disable data transmission, but is it going to turn off the 3G radio as well ?, I am looking into the battery saver options. I think my only option will be to turn on "Airplane Mode" and then turn on Wifi, thoughts ?, thanks

With data enabled unchecked you'll still see the Cell Standby using battery power, although not much. If you go to airplane mode then turn wifi on, it does what you want and doesn't use the cell radio as far as I can tell. I installed a widget on my desktop and turn wifi on and off when I need it. Even with wifi on battery life is excellent.
I did notice that daylight savings time didn't update as I had the xoom getting the time from the network which I assume is the cell network.
For the record, there was a Verizon Xoom on ebay yesterday as a one day auction starting at 200 bucks. I threw 550 down on it but it ended at like 780 or something. So yeah, I'm still waiting on the Wifi. I have a staples employee as a friend that's getting me her discount on it so.
Hi,
There's something weird going on with my myTouch. I'll appreciate if someone could explain this.
I have turned off 'Mobile network' but still my mobile network connection seems to come on by itself even when wifi is on.
I've confirmed that its actually turning on by browsing a few webpages. When I look at the setting its 'unchecked'.
I am totally confused. :S

if you see the "E" that means your mobile data is still turned on. You should be able to go to settings > wireless & network > mobile networks > and turn off the data....
that's the problem my friend, its already unchecked :S and I am not a newbie to android
I have had a G1, then a Hero, then HD2 with Android and now myTouch 4G

Well i'm just asking if you've tried it. I've never had a problem dropping data as soon as i turn it off. But i know AirPlane mode will sever the data connection and voice connection. when you reconnect it should turn on only the voice end of it
I am on the H918 rooted. Is there anything out there to allow me to either quickly toggle WiFi calling manually or do so based on location or SSID?
LG's default method is buried in the menus which is annoying if you have to do it multiple times a day. There is a Tasker plug in, but it's old and appears to be made for Samsung phones.
You could try shortcut master lite.
Another option is to enable wifi calling in settings.
When you want to use it, turn on airplane mode.
Then turn on wifi. Wifi calling will pop up in about 10 seconds.
Make your calls. When done, turn wifi off.
Turn airplane mode off and you'll be back to data calling.
You don't want to have wifi calling and data on at the same time. There appears to be a bug that borks the data calling after having wifi calling on at the same time.

Hello Everyone,
Does anyone know if this phone supports Wifi-Calling via T-mobile?:cyclops:
It does. I tried it last night. Turned to airplane and turned back on wifi, made a call just fine over wifi on T-Mobile.
I had no idea it could do that, but since my house is a bit of a Faraday Cage my G5+ starts the call as a provider call (T-Mobile) & jumps over to WiFi as soon as the connection is made. Totally threw me for a loop, I've wanted this feature on an OON phone for several years... way to go, Moto... oops, I mean Lenovo
Dave in San Jose
I might be missing something but it doesn't say WiFi call when set to WiFi preferred and I'm on WiFi. I try turning airplane mode on and WiFi on and get a message that I have to connect to a network. In TMobile.

Did you enable it in settings? I've found it to be a little finicky sometimes, but it usually works pretty well.
It works but for me caused SMS/MMS delivery issues with the wifi router i was on. So i turned it off. I can turn it on when i need it for now, no need.
Get an sms app that supports forcing sms over cell even if you are on wifi like textra.
Sorry to bother, but it doesn't work for me. I have wifi preferred and wifi calling enabled, but it doesn't work when I do airplane mode-with-wifi on.
Any chance this could be due to APN settings? Can someone with this working share their APN? I know on my previous phone (Nexus 6), the T-Mobile APN settings were confusing and tricky. Thanks in advance!
Turning on airplane mode got wifi calling and SMS to work for me no problem. I have "wifi-calling preferred" selected in settings - is there any good way to get it to switch over automatically when cell service is poor? would like to not have to hit airplane mode every time.

Actually, you shouldn't need to turn on airplane mode. That seems to just be a way to confirm it is actually using wifi since it ensures cell radios are turned off. It will automatically switch if you do not turn on airplane mode. If you look at the phone when a call is connected, it will confirm that it is a wifi call. This is a small drawback to the Moto G5 Plus software. Unlike other phones that actually tell you that the phone will use wifi in the notification area, this phone only acknowledges the wifi calling after the call is made or received. It would be nice if they would change that.
However, I am having a problem with mine not working properly on wifi. It seems that calls will not always go through to my phone. The phone will ring, but won't let me answer the call. It will quite often show the same call repeatedly even though I cannot answer the call. The caller tells me they hear nothing the entire time it should be ringing and eventually gives a busy signal. It doesn't even go to voice mail so they can leave a message. Sometimes it works perfectly, but there is no way to know when it's not going to work. I used to be able to get it to work again if I switched off wifi and connected to LTE, then made a test call before turning wifi back on. Now I can't seem to get that to work any more. Anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
Hi brothers,
Please, can you share some screenshots of these VoWIFI options in settings?
I feel the "reteu" (european) version doesn't have enabled VoLTE and VoWIFI.
Is there any way to get rid of this error coming up after upgrading my S10 plus to android 10?
Try disabling WiFi calling (Settings -> Connections -> Wi-Fi Calling). Reboot, then re-enable.
Will try it
Have done as u suggested @jl10101 and will check if it works
Thanks your tip seems to have worked will check when I disconnect from 1 wifi and connect to another and advice. On witch handset have you encountered this error @jl10101
Yes, stay within the wifi range
The error is back after an soft reset. What else do you suggest? @jl10101

How are the settings? Wi-Fi preferred or Mobile Network Preferred?
Try switching to the latter if not already.

Under wifi calling there is nothing. @Darkat70
Where else can I have a look? @Darkat70
That's strange, the only thing I can think of is if Wi-Fi calling is turned off it wont show.
The same menu appears in Huawei Phones too, i would have thought it's an Android not OneUI2 setting.
I wonder if you try a search in settings for mobile network preferred?

Does your carrier support Wi-Fi calling, its possible that either Its not enabled on your account or its not yet supported. That's probably why nothing is showing? I could be wrong though.
Try looking in the phone app/3 dots/settings. That's where I find the wi-fi calling option
