Questions about the all new Fire 8 - Fire HD 8 and HD 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Hello, I've been thinking about buying the new Fire 8 amazon released as my second smart device ever but I want to know some things first.
Are these devices easily rootable?
Rooting my samsung phone was a very easy and painless process so I want to know if I'll be able to root it if I get one.
Will I be able to install android applications and games using third party appstores or APKs?
My phone is currently running android 4.1.2 so my main reason to buy one of these would be to upgrade and have something that will run all of my stuff.
And how easy is it to install the google playstore and google services in one of these tablets?
Thanks a lot for your attention and help.
Currently no root available for this device. But maybe it will come in a few weeks or months ago knows... Google play store is fairly easy to install just search xda or in google to find out how

Apparently, Kingroot seems to work for FireOS 5.3.1 on the 5th gen Fire :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/amazon-fire/general/root-t3471289
It's a good guess that it would work on this new HD 8 as well !

Right, this is the version. It also says something like "Build Sept 1st", so what's that date ?
Update:
Here is what Amazon has on its website now :
ro.build.version.number=554206920
ro.build.version.name=Fire OS 5.3.1.1 (554206920)
ro.build.date=Sun Sep 18 00:28:58 UTC 2016
Mine shipped with 5.3.1.0 Build 8/1/16 1:24PM
not sure if helpful...
Mine just showed up today too, same as eenoah
5.3.1.0 Build 8/1/2016 8:24 PM
Here's some screenshots from AIDA64 (installed via Google Play Store )
Fire HD8 shows Fires OS 5.3.1.1
was installed on Sept 29, 2016 a few days after it arrived.
Device is a great tablet, BUT Amazon store sucks!
Hope we will be able to completely WIPE and install pure Android.
My HD8-6 Gen is running OS 5.3.1.1
Any news as to adding google apps? Folks are confusing this tablet with 5gen tablet.

What did you use to install the google services on 6th gen?
Can you please share a link to point me in the right way?

One more question, has anyone run any benchmark tests on this tablet?
I'm interested to know how it compares to other similar devices

I think that not have to use "root junky" or his supertool, you only will have to install (sideloaded) 4 Apks:
http://blog.the-ebook-reader.com/20...ire-tablets-the-super-easy-way-no-pc-or-root/
Apparently, "root junky" works as well in the All-New FireHD8 6th Generation, but it requires downloading a utility script called "supertool" to a PC and using it to install the Play Store apps.
That method also requires using a Windows computer and sometimes getting the drivers to work is a pain, so this is an even easier solution to add the Play Store to your Fire tablet.

Kinda new here as I am looking to buy a Kindle Tablet. When FireOS gets updated, do Amazon put in the latest android security patches? I think Google still releases it for Lollipop. Reason for this is reading up, to sideload the Playstore you need to disable the OTA, but if the security patch is included then that is something I need to consider.

Click to collapse Keep in mind Google Framework (Services, Store, etc) compatibility is not assured across FireOS updates. Historically this was more of a problem with FireOS v4 which didn't play well with Google components. Even if it does break someone will likely come up with a fix in short order. That said, I fully agree with @sd_shadow: go with a custom rom for the most favorable experience.

What are the chances that a work around will be realeased? Are they at least greater than zero?

Dave and Shadow. Some of the Google Play Store games will crashes on custom ROM's. Wonder 5 Masters works better on FireOS with Google Play Store installed with less crashes. Just pointing this out.
Root Kindle Fire HD 8 (6th Gen)
Hi I'm new on here today so forgive my lack of knowledge! I've tried to root my HD8 (6th Gen) using Kingroot but I can't download the app direct to my Kindle. I can sideload it but just wanted to check if the current Kingroot app will support the OS 5.3.2.1. If not can someone help with rewinding my Kindle to a previous OS that Kingroot will work with? Or am i just showing my ignorance there? Cheers!
Unless there is an update I missed, Kingroot does not work on the gen 6 devices. I don't think there is a root method yet.

Just got Fire-Tab 10 need help
I took advantage of Amazon's Prime Sale and got the Fire-10 Tablet. It was able to sync most of my apps from my "little" Fire. The OS that installed itself is 5.6.2.0. Is there a way to root this OS?

Rooting Fire Hd 8 (7th Generation) Which Rom?
Hello I am thinking about rooting my kindle fire 8 (7th Gen). What I cant figure out is after I root it can I set it to stock Androd? or do I have to use one of the roms? and which would be the best one?

Click to collapse You can make a bunch of tweaks to make it feel like stock Android (download play store, debloat Amazon apps, use Nova launcher, etc). But, there are no custom ROMs available for the 7th Gen Fire 8 , nor is there a bootloader unlock. Even if there were other ROMs, we'd need a bootloader unlock before flashing ROMs.

We can compile a ROM using stock boot.img and flash it with FlashFire but it would be very difficult... And we will need a lot of tests... I'm going to download the cm12 sources and see if I can do anything.
