Possible modem problems? - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've tried a few different roms and almost all of them I've had random reboots. Sometimes once a day and sometimes several times a day. I don't understand those logs but I've saved a few of them to my Dropbox after random reboots. One common thing is that every log has some lines at the end that says modem fatal error. Since I still got warranty left I would like to know are these signs of broken modem or if someone could say what is causing those random reboots.
I'm running almost stock roms always. Only rooted, no greenify or different kernels etc.
Also I haven't noticed any similarities when those random reboots happen. Might be when phone is unused on the table or when scrolling Facebook or using browser. Totally random in my opinion.
Here's the link for Dropbox folder. There's a few logs and I really appreciate it if someone has time to check those.
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/twh4u437qfva518/AADuK5u9UEmEal-VzkdIK0oMa?dl=0

Try a factory reset.

Thanks for the tip. Done that too few times though and the random reboots still continues.

dont know if this is related or not but I have had problems with selecting a different network manually on all roms apart from OOS. I suspect this is something to do with the modem.

dude read first.
He said he has tried various ROM's. He has obviously done factory resets more than once.
this customer care like approach is not acceptable here.
have you worked at a call centre? seems highly likely.
Sorry OP for going off- topic.

Strange.. Sorry I have no idea.

More logs added to op link. Latest from today and running cm14 1710 build with Pico open gapps.
All ideas are welcome.

I'm having similar reboot issues with CM14. I don't have any issues with CM13 so I just reverted back to that. I was hoping it would just get ironed out as the ROM developed, but I'll try and save a log after the next CM14 update to see if they have the same error (not that I would know what to do with that information).

I have the same problem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/help/random-reboots-overclocked-kernels-t3446631
I posted a method I did to try to solve it. It did work. But now its kinda messed up again.
My theory is that it has to do with the battery not pushing out enough amount of voltage for the processor. If you're not running on a overclocked kernel I would still try it.
Best of luck!

Also, just for the sake of asking.
Did your phone at any point mess up that you had to use the Qualcomm flashing tool?
When did you buy your OP2?
Have you done any kinda hex-editing to the bootloader?

I have stock kernel and haven't done any editing on bootloader. At least I am aware of. And no, I didn't have to use Qualcomm flashing tool.
If I remember correctly, I bought my phone just over a year ago. Have to try tomorrow that link u posted.

Well, if the logs are saying fatal_modem. Have you tried to flash the latest modem available from OOS 3.1.0?
Also you must realize that CM 14 is still under development, so it might be prone to bugs.

Would flashing a different modem fix random shut downs and crashes? My phone does the random rebooting thing except it doesn't reboot on its own, which others have seemed to experience too. I am also unable to manually select a network, as previously mentioned in this thread. Where could I find a new modem to flash? Here's an image of my about screen with my modem version.

do remove the baterry and restart the phone ?

if you doesnt when the screen comes long press the lock button untill phone is off the try to switch on

i dont know the reason for it
Kernel panics occur when the system through a fatal error and find no more possibility will need to get the device/system alive and goes off.
its like the Bluescreen on Windows.
reasons can be: faulty memory accesses, defective hardware(not often),etc...
in the most its gone after reboot when not do a factory reset and flash new firmware.

Wow finally I witnessed a person who got the kernel panic mode!!
Take it to service centre and get replacement. They will take it as its a major software(?) issue

hardbrick you see when the does nothing,no boot,pc does not recognise no nothing, its dead.most in case that is when the hardware is broken, when your phone goes on and boot its not hardbricked, your screen goes on but is black you said,so the phone lives, hardbrick is the end.
and i have wiped all in rescuemodus and have flashed new firmware.but it was my lg e610.

G900F lost service after new rom flash?

Hey guys! I recently bought a Galaxy S5 through an ad a week ago and everything was working perfectly!
I then decided to flash the XtreStoLite rom because I was excited about the features and after I had flashed
it everything booted up without any issues and the network showed i had full service. A few hours passes by
and I notice I havent recieved any text messages or calls and that's when I notice that it says I can only make emergency calls.
I reflashed stock samsung rom but I still had the same issues. I first thought it was blacklisted / barred but for every other day
I keep searching for the IMEI to pop up in any of the databases but still nothing... Every service tells me the phone is unlocked.
I have no idea what to do or try at this point since I live in Sweden and bought the phone in Denmark and I dont even know what carrier
it was under
Nobody with any tips on what I could do? Still to this day every IMEI check site I go to says the IMEI is clean and all these errors started happening after I flashed another rom..
What are my options at this point?
I'm still stuck in between every site telling me the phone is unblocked and being stuck with the phone saying "not connected to network".. What can I do at this point? I've been googling alot but did not find any answers at all.

My phone says IMEI passes, and network is unblocked. I flashed Alliance rom and it worked last night. This morning it kicked me off all data. No phone number and no network access. I go to dial and I get the roaming warning for US Cellular. I posted my own thread and found this one as well. I also sent a PM to Alliance rom dev and posted in that thread. I need some serious help.
Edit: I also have no PRL version, no "MIN", no phone number, and "mobile network state" says disconnected.

Go to Settings/More neworks/Mobile networks/Access Point Names!
If there are no entries, something is wrong. You need the APS´s for connecting the the network.
You cant find the correct APN´s of your Provider with google or in the FAQ of your Provider.
If you have them, you can enter the APN´s manually by klicking the "+" and type the address for web and then for mms. Its needed.

Try to flash maybe a different Rom, or try the stock one again, just 4 testing, if it´s working again.
Try flashing a stock firmware via Odin. Get one from Sam Mobile. Had a friend that something similar happened to him and in the end it turned out the phone was blacklisted, even showing a clean IMEI in multiple sites. Also, if you have lying around a backup of your EFS, try restoring that and see if it fixes your problem (fixed mine once).

I've tried Echo rom, Xtrolite, stock & phoenix.
Currently im on latest stock rom updated with Kies. Only thing i've modified is root & install recovery but other than that it's all stock.
At this point I'm thinking about getting a asansam box and try fixing the phone myself.

I just payed 50$ .. in order to solve it ..
Now, my Camera doesn't work ..
I tried all the fixes which I found it here ...
Please, help ..
I don't want to pay one more time ...
First, why did you pay and what did you pay for?
Second, we need your ROM.
Third, what did you do to get this?
The guys who roped him off (ones he paid) probably flashed him a wrong firmware without camera fix.
We need your phone serial number & ROM serial to identify what it is.

There are two tips of the main camera sensors.
Before of that you tried with CM 12.1 with & without camera fix? As the fix addresses just that - other sensor.
If it didn't work anyhow with CM12.1 then problem is elsewhere.
When & exactly how did you're rare cam stopped working?

Go to Sam mobile, search for the latest firmware, firmwares for your region, download & flash them. You will also find the instructions there how to flash. For this you will also need to revert back to default recovery I hope you made a Flasfify backup of it. Also I hope you staid on EXT4 file system.
The only way to flash back proper full stock with all blobs & everything.

New Galaxy S4 Random Reboot

Hi There..
I bought a used Galaxy S4 from a local market, I checked it on the shop it was working fine. But as soon as reached home It started rebooting. I went back to him and bargained but in vain.
So I don't know why is this issue, I tried Hard Reset, changing the battery, changing the firmware (now it is on the latest one), searching on the other forums and applied their solution, tried each & every suggestion available on the internet but the same issue :'( :crying:
It reboots only in stand-by mode, not when in use & LCD is on.
Any suggestion would highly be appreciated
P.S Before posting I doubled checked every thread on this site.

If it is randomly rebooting on a stock ROM, it could be a battery or motherboard issue. You have another battery to try?

There is really no way to confirm that it is a hardware problem unless you can swap out the motherboard for a know working motherboard without changing any other parts.

The most stable ROM for the s4 is a stock ROM which the OP has already tried. The OP has also tried different batteries.
Yes, it may be worth a try but flashing a custom ROM will trip knox and, if the vendor decides to take the phone back, tripping knox will inform the vendor that the phone has been flashed with non-official Samsung firmware.
Well if he could to take the phone back he probably would do that already, but it looks like he can't or he doesn't want to.
Probably there is no warranty on it anyway.
My advice according to what "audit13" said... take it back ASAP if you can of course.

I've been dodging installing the PJ1 update for a while. I went and checked, and it has the same line: "remaining updates: 0" I don't think we can assume that Samsung is going to stop updating our Note 4s. Whether they'll give us Nougat, well, that's another question. But I'll bet they keep giving us the security updates a while longer.
remaining updates have absolutely nothing to do with whether or not the device is still being supported. it is an indication of how many updates remain before you're "up to date." for example, if you were to flash PH4, then update, you'd have that number go from 0 to however many updates will get you to PL1

No noticeable changes, maybe somethings related to performance only.

Short answer: No
I guess anything is possible, but because Grace is not a specific thing. It's the whole look and feel of the rom. So you'd have to rewrite and edit every aspect of the rom, because I assume samsung builds their rom around grace.
So this would be too much work for anyone.
So really only viable way to get Grace, is you just port a Grace rom. Hence the Note 7 ports.
Hope that answers you question. Best way i can explain it and understand it myself.
This will be the last update we will ever get!
Does anyone know if this update has locked the bootloader?

You have an inside line on this or just a feeling?
bootloader still unlocked, now I want to know if I can flash any MM roms on this PL1 baseband and software
can someone upload the zip?
Well, ****. My dumbass updated to PL1, then wiped the hell out of everything and now it won't let me revert to PK1....and there's no PL1 stock out there yet haha.
Does anyone know which samsung software we're supposed to use on these? i've tried kies 2.6, 3 and smart switch....none are working.....multiple PCs with fresh drivers, still nothing :/ I'm afraid i'm screwed until someone uploads a copy of PL1....and even then, who knows lol

Update- tried flashing PK1 again thru ODIN....this time it got about 70% of the way thru flashing system.img.ext4 and then failed, kinda random.......but that's progress, right? Just means i need to keep trying i hope...

So, relentlessly, I kept attempting....different USB ports, different cables, etc, and finally it worked 100%. Had to install TWRP, and reboot a few times cuz it got stuck, but....IT WORKED
What's wrong with Pl1, mines working great

I can't count how many installs I've had fail due to crappy USB cords. You fight with it thinking it's software and then it dawns on you, wait maybe it's this cable that's only a few months old! I'm no IPhone fan, but they did it right with their phone cable port.
Also I thought I had read somewhere that you need to use your USB 2.0 port as sometimes that is an issue as well.

I know USB 2.0 was a common recommendation a while back but recently read that USB 3.1 is backward compatible. Perhaps 3.0 is too but I was looking for latest.
Recently built a modular PC and got an USB adapter, if needed, but didn't need it. Last Odin session was Windows 10, did not run as administrator, used original Note 4 USB cable, USB 3.1 and USB driver downloaded from Samsung support for Note 4 which passed without issue. Flashed PJ1 stock tar (verified md5 from AFH upload by @LMMT from stock thread in general forum) using Odin 3.12.3 with Odin defaults.

TWRP flash was with auto reboot option unchecked.

Motherboard is Gigabyte if that makes any difference.
Yeah, I get the frustration you're facing, I've dealt with it too. But my PC was 2009 era, not modular for component swapping and seriously needed replacing. Good news is Note 4 is compatible with updated PC and Windows 10.

I'm thinking maybe nothing's wrong with PL1....this phone I have is apparently a victim of the widespread Note 4 eMMC error :/
In other words, flashing back to PK1 didn't fix it for me. random reboots, and frequent boot failures requiring extended battery pulls.
Still not convinced it's a hardware failure.... but that's probably due to my ignorance and optimism lol. No one seems to have truly found a fix-all for this :/
