Interesting specs
MediaTek Quad-core ARM 1.3 GHz
Wi-Fi supports 2x2 MIMO 802.11a/b/g/n/ac
no 4k, which is understandable with the specs. Still 1gig memory and 8 gig storage. It also says optional ethernet. So maybe a dongle to split the mini usb is going to be sold.
yea...quad-core from dual-core is an upgrade but same amount of RAM. Wonder if it's able to handle Kodi fluidly like the AFTV box. Still, "It has the same 8GB internal storage and 1GB of RAM as the original, but makes the jump from Bluetooth 3.0 to 4.1. The device can also decode H.265 video, no doubt future-proofing for future streaming and media support. Finally, 802.11ac WiFi support has been added."
Will buy one to test it's performance...
Hi,
Is there anyone able to order one and then reship it to my address in Italy? Please PM me / let me know if possible.
Thanks.

The remote is the only downside. It requires hard press, but with a wireless keyboard, this thing is just beautiful.

I prefer an Android TV box, not just an Android box. Having to pull out a keyboard/mouse/touchpad for a lot of the major apps is a pain. The Android TV boxes including the fire tv and stick have dedicated apps that work with the included remote, I own one of these Android boxes running Android 6 and although it does kodi pretty well and connects to a usb hard drive / flash drive playing local media really well, where it lacks is the efficency of thr U.I with apps like hbogo, showtime, bbc iplayer, itv player, etc. Even Netflix is annoying with the Android boxes where you still need a secondary device like a BT or usb type keyboard / touchpad to access seasons of a show. Some of these Android boxes have a small mouse remote where you click the arrows to move around. Way too inefficient. Point is there's something about these fire tv and stick devices and Android TV boxes that integrate apps better than an Android box. I'm keeping my eye on the Xiaomi mi that's coming out for $69 and it's a true Android TV box.

I wouldn't mind helping you. I just don't know exact shipping cost via US Post Office it would be, my guess is around 13-20$. I sometimes ship to my home country Poland and lightweight packages cost around 13$ and usually arrive in 3-7 days.
Then they might hit you with custom fees so you would have to prepared for that as well. I'm here for many years so you won't have any issues trusting me, if you are interested you can PM me. Sometimes I might take longer to respond but I sure can help you.
Thanks.

i have some questions before thinking of getting it.
as far as i can see, it is the best bet for 200$, but how does it work? since im not 18 yet, and i couldn't buy all the books and games by my self and stuff.... is there a chance to just install a video player application and play downloaded videos like on rockplayer on android? also what about games. is there any way to just download them from some site and just simply install it or something. Thanks!
There's plenty of free books and games on the app store

You'll be able to install from Amazon whatever they deem acceptable to be downloaded. Yes, I have read that sideloading apks will be possible but without a uSD disk you'll need to be able to load via cable from your desktop, wirelessly might be possible or email the apk.
Amongst the deal-breakers (for me) are only 8GB total space. You'll fill that fast with music/videos. Cloud storage is useless without a wifi connection. No microSD (uSD) so no expandability. 512MB of RAM will work but 1GB is almost the norm anymore.
Bottom line, Amazon will sell a bazillion of these $200 tabs but mostly to people who are only focused on price and less on function (their loss). The AF is (IMO) kind of on par as those cheap knock-off tablets many Chinese companies crank out. With the holidays coming more and MUCH better alternatives are coming than the AF. Hold off would be my advice for now.

Bluetooth is the problem for me also. I want to get a tablet, and $200 is tempting, but I would like the option of using a wireless keyboard. On the other hand, I don't want to pay twice as much for a tablet that does have bluetooth.

Capabilities of this type of device
Got mine its decent. Does anyone know if there will be very much development for this device.
I know they said they would put out some OTA updates and root was a possibility in the future.
This is my first device of this nature and I am clueless to any possibilities it may have. I know I like
to root any device I can and I'm hoping to do the same with this.
I'm just hoping their OTA updates fix the crashing, hell when some apps crash and it asks if you want to report it, the report crashes as well!
I ordered two of these. It is junk. Move along. Laggy and one of my units is broken. Company doesnt care. It is just a rebranded CX-01...
Well the last few comments are not encouraging.. Picking mine up on Thursday...
Anyone had an opportunity to try Plex on it yet? That was the main reason I bought it.

It looks to me like they do care quite a bit. They are answering all kinds of questions on the Kickstarter backer's page and on Facebook. I believe that they are working hard on an OTA update to be released very soon....At least I hope it's soon.
As for the broken one, have you emailed [email protected] with your concerns?

I bought mine for plex as well and no luck so far. It won't connect to my server despite every other android device I have being able to. Commenters on Kickstarter are reporting problems with it as well.
Got Root
I got this device rooted awhile back and downloaded some apps to help with
performance. It runs alot better now. I can't beleive they couldn't fix some of these
issues before it came out. I installed the beta updates they put out and it helped.
It seems like they don't want to give out the info needed for people to do developement
because they are afraid someone will get it up and running better then they can.
I'm just looking forward to running custom roms on this thing.
I've owned one of these, and also a bunch of the dual core sticks.
The Equiso is not worth the price. It is pretty much a cx-01 or c-77.
I found the video performance to be substandard.
I sold it for a loss after a week.
You can get a dual core for cheaper.
Even the original MK802(single core allwinner a10) is better.
If I had to buy a stick right now it would be the dual core MX1.
If I wanted to wait I would pick up the GK802 quad core stick(freescale soc!) or the uHost2 dual core stick.(more usb)
Let the buyer beware though! Check out everything you can before you buy!
Wow, that uhost2 looks really good. Would you happen to know of any good reliable retailers that have the Bluetooth capable one???

Tried on another TV. Works but hängs and bootloops every time I connect to wifi or change video settings
Bought this tv stick at Wallmart
I have purchased this TV stick at Walmart the stock Rom is buggy until you root it and change the CPU governor. I have rooted it and removed the equiso update file from system/app now it doesn't pop up all the time which was kind of annoying. I have done some simple stuff to this TV stick and it works well I agree with the other post though this should of been done before it was released.

Please tell me the N7 4.2 update will bring miracast. Because I cannot explain to you guys how exciting that would be XD
Also...anyone know where to buy one of those adapters?
I know you are excited... we all are.
Where to start? Ok first off don't buy any adapters for anything yet. Read this and get a little depressed, first (but less depressed than if you wasted money on an adapter that isn't compatible with your device).
http://www.slashgear.com/miracast-accessories-dont-jump-in-head-first-just-yet-06255843/
Now let's make you feel a little better. Hardware wise, yes Nexus 7(which has Tegra 3 chips) should be fine with Miracast.
http://blogs.nvidia.com/2012/07/tegra-enhances-miracast-wireless-display-on-hdtvs/
Although we don't really know if the bandwith of the wireless card will allow for streaming content from the interwebs to your TV, what the quality will be for a 2.4 Ghz wireless card or if Google will natively support it for the N7 (even though 4.2 is supposed to)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896605
Time will tell. For now, just sit back and watch the posts to see the early adopters complain or rejoyce. As it is we really haven't even seen Miracast in action in the real world, just very controlled demos intended to get us all excited (please correct me if you have a real world video).
Also interested in knowing how well this will work. Please report successes/failures here. I am looking to switch from my T-Mobile Springboard to N73G but I'll miss the HDMI.
The update is here for many people so it is time to settle this once and for all.
I know some of you that have already updated have a netgear 3000 ready to go so...what is the verdict?Does it work or not?

Well for better or for worse I ordered my N73G. I damn well hope there is some way to output video sooner or later.
The anandtech review of the N4 shows there is an option in the display settings for it. Unfortunately its not been added to the N7

I mean...hey guys
The google native support was always an iffy thing. It sucks but I'm sure we'll see some custom rom love in the upcoming weeks/months (hours? I love you guys... You are doing God's work). There doesn't seems to be a lot of options for Miracast from the pull side (unless you want to go buy a new TV just to support your $200-$300 tablet) So it's not like there is a huge rush to get the push side working right away. The bigger question is the persormance we'll see. But to be honest the fact that google nixed it from the start seems to suggest we may be disappointed with that too.
So I bought the Netgear ptv3000 updated my N7 hooked it up to my TV connected to it through WIFI-Direct and nothing. Screen on my TV says it's "ready to connect". It connects via wifi-direct according to my tablet but not the 3000 isn't showing it.
Nexus 7 will support Miracast needs to be on 4.2 and set op boxes may need to be updated, but overall, wait o buy, here what people say about them. I am waiting for the update to be pushed to me over the air because I am to lazy to dit manually right now, but it should be to all of us in at most 3-4 days. It may be a setting inside apps. Although, from the man websites I have been to, they have all been saying that it will get Miracast. I would post some but I have just lost track of all of the websites.

For the moment, it just doesn't seem to be an option as Google hasn't included it in the 4.2 build. I tried to connect up my 3000 with the Wi-Fi direct option, but it doesn't do anything- I suspect it won't work without the option in the display menu.
After the late availability emails today on 4/10 releases to the store, Google is not on my nice list at the moment.

Upgraded Nexus 7 to 4.2, bought a Netgear PTV3000 and tested.
First of all, couldn't find any Miracast related settings in N7/4.2.
Was able to see the adapter, changing its mode from Intel WiDi to Miracast mode and enabling Wi-Fi Direct option in Wi-Fi settings on N7/4.2. I can invite the adapter, but nothing happens on the other side.
Wi-Fi Direct option was already available in 4.1.2 and I understand its purpose is to transfer files only.
Any input or suggestion?

I would hope that they would include a app that allows you to do that just like archos did with their gaming device. However i found this app that maps different controllers for you but it requires root:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...elstudios.gamepadenabler&feature=related_apps
However when it comes to your point about the possibility of the controller not working in normal games i think the possibility of it working might be there since as you can see from the video here the controler and the buttons can be used with the navigation of android which might mean you can use it for doing things like turning in ninjump or jumping, and sliding in temple run. Lets be optimistic
Lets hope nvidia has an answer for that since right now they aren't releasing a lot of details on the device lets hope they can help with that.
I've already pre-ordered mine.
I saw an app that can map the game with the controller and it is call game keyboard from play store. But dont know whether it can be use on the shield or not.

No, the free ones I get aren't production units. But so far, nobody has objected to me developing for it, and they all know I intend to.
The shield has a touch screen already so could theoretically run non gamepad apps, it would just be horrifically awkward.
I saw in one of their demo's they navigated the android UI with the gamepad so they might well have included some minor mods to allow the gamepad to control games that are touch only.
There are also alot of games out there on android which already support gamepads so should work fine with the shield controls (and that is something which has been demo'ed by NVidia already).
I am personally very interested in getting the shield. Sadly it hasnt been made available for pre-order in the UK yet. Personally I dont just see "Shield = gameconsole" in my eyes. I see gamepad + screen + pretty open software environment. Lots of fun to be had there. I was already looking into building a robot with a raspberry pi and streaming webcam footage back to an android tablet for control. The shields gamepad would make that even better.
Hope to have mine by 6/31 = D Pre Orderd mine that day it came out. Can't wait to see what XDA can do with it but from the sounds of it might not even need much done. Has clean android on it so lets see!

I have the Ugoos UT1, Android Box with remote which came pre-installed with a working XBMC hardware acceleration setup. I mostly use MXPlayer. I'm really happy with it.

But if you want a stick and if you want Bluetooth, then I strongly suggest the Ugoos UM2, as it has everything the UT1 has (except a few ports), but in a stick form. So you're getting Real Hardware accelerated XBMC and Bluetooth. I have ordered a UM2 for my guest bedroom, but it won't be here for a few days yet. It should compliment the UT1 in my living room nicely.

If you want me to test any apps on the UM2 just let me know and I can check them out. Also I'm interested in any essential style apps you think I should use on a Mini PC.
I don't need bluetooth but pre-installed xbmc seems nice.
Can you power these sticks with usb of your tv or notebook?
It would be nice if you could try the app "cheapcast".
How do you control an android stick? With you smartphone or do you have to buy an keyboard and mouse?

Personally I use this keyboard and mouse combo from logitech, as it's compact and discrete looking so it does not look messy or out of place in the living room amongst remote controls. (the wife will not be happy if I clutter up the living room too much with gadgetry and this setup looks tidy)
There are cheaper Logitech keyboard and mouse combos available but this model to me is by far worth the extra few dollars for it's build quality and design characteristics.
I will be home in a couple of days around about the time when my UM2 arrives I ordered. So I will let you know how those apps work on it.

Regarding powering the mini PCs with a nearby USB such as the type found on TVs. I think they need 2amp so you may want to have a google and find the engineer repair guide or any technical specs documents for your TV's brand and model and ensure they are outputting 2amp from that USB port. I'm guessing most will be 500ma or 1amp, as they are mostly designed for the connection of USB flash drives for viewing pictures on your TV via the Tv's USB port.
I suggest if your laptop is nearby then use the USB from that as it should be able to handle the power demand. Ugoos also do a UM1 mini pc which includes the same remote control that comes with the UT1 Android box.
Apparently the Ugoos remote control is available separately and can connect to the UM2 via a IR pick-up dongle port (I chatted with the online chat facility on DealsPrime and they told me the remote was available separately, can't remember the price, around 10 to 20 USD I believe). Will try to find you a link. I didn't order the remote with my UM2 as I have the keyboard and mouse already. But the Ugoos remote works very well on the UT1 I have and I imagine it's as good on the UM2.
*Update I found the separate remote and it can be added as an option on the UM2 product page, it's ten bucks.
Well, thank you very much for the explanation! I will do some research.
Let me know when you receive your stick.
Did you already ordered something with dealsprime? Could there be any costs like tax or do they send within europe?
And thank you for the answers on my questions and the tips about the tv.

Gonna try one
Indeed I did get the unit a while back now but life has got in the way of me getting in to it yet. I checked it and it works perfectly. Is all setup in my spare room and it awaits me the moment I'm not working or helping the family. If you want me to test anything just let me know. I think someone else sent me a few requests, will check back and see next time I turn it on.
I can try Cheapcast on my stick tonight (CX-919), but I think most of these sticks should be able to run cheapcast without an issue as anything you buy should be Android 4.0+ at the very least and can be updated to 4.2.2 so far (I don't think any TV sticks are up to 4.3 yet, but I may be wrong).
For controlling a stick, a bluetooth or USB wireless keyboard is probably a good idea (like the one Blob recommended). You can also use an app like droidmote to control the stick with your phone or tablet via wireless as well (you could use a wired keyboard/mouse for the initial setup of droidmote).
EDIT:
Confirmed that Cheapcast works with the CX-919 using a Nexus 7 as a remote (only tested it with YouTube).
