Hi there.
I've decided to return my A2017G and get the A2017U model. I have already looked up online where I could order the US Model. But most of my favorite shops like BHPhoto don't send the Axon 7 to Europe. It says "Due to restrictions".
That's the first for me as I use BHPhoto for my Home Cinema and Photo equipment.
Does anyone know an good alternative?
I already checked gearbest but they only offer the International Model (A2017G).
Had the same problem. US official sellers of ZTE AXON 7 are zteusa.com, newegg, bestbuy and bhphoto. Bhphoto is excellent shop with top notch service and international shipping so I placed order end of July after American model launch. When I tried proceed to checkout I got pop up window saying "error has occurred". Asked customers service, they were very polite and it seemed that bhphoto ships international and they would send my phone but ZTE made international sale of Axon 7 forbidden and they couldn't omit this limitation. Was so pissed off :/ finally I bought on ebay but really overpaid (with custom fee 200 usd more). However I don't regret any penny spent at US version. In every aspect it's night and day compared to EU model.
I guess I will sell EU version and buy another US (wanted EU for warranty)
Wysłane z mojego ZTE A2017G
You need to use a shipment service that ships the device to you after receiving it. Something like Shipito.
The only issue are the taxes and the shipment cost.
I have a buddy living and working in NYC he offered me to buy and ship the phone to me. It's just sold out everywhere it seems.
I hope BHPhoto gets an restock soon.

Doesn't Gearbest have chinese version with multilingual ROM (A2017)?

Besides of lack of EU volume limit what are the advantages of A2017U?
For me the most important in phones hardware are screen (amoled 1440p is always my choice) and audio. For audio US version is much better for me cause besides clarity i like really smokin' volume. US version sound loud, crispy, clear and punchy, European is really quiet and dim.
And YES, for me audio power and volume is DEAL BREAKER, i listen to US version at max volume and that's the level I'm satisfied. I don't care about its healthy or not, I'm grown up and it's my preference to blow my ears with noise
Next reason software is completely different. American Axon 7 has ui with app drawer and my voice working (i always use this feature when taking a photo, extremely useful with long exposure you can't move the device to not destroy pic), my voice also open apps etc but most scenarios besides camera i use Google now.
Volte is active and ready to use.
Updates are better done and more frequent, i have September security patch with B27, with EU B03 it's July.
Camera performance, battery life i find also better with us version.
I don't care missing 800lte, cause i use my data without any problems. Watching. HD podcast, streaming extreme quality Spotify, etc with no lags and buffering.
Sent from my ZTE A2017U

Gearbest version is the A2017G. A friend of mine got it for 350€ with their sale coupon.
The other advantage would be VoLTE support as. The A2017G has no VoLTE in its firmware/baseband. The A2017U does.
Software support is far better and way ahead on the US version.
Also I order from Newegg you get 200$ headphones for free it the current pre-order.

That's too bad. Could your friend confirm if ROM that Gearbest Axon comes with, also has the same EU volume limits like the A2017G sold in Europe? It's pretty much the only thing that could drive me away from A2017G since I mostly care about quality of the headphone jack, speakers, screen and build quality in this phone.

This is ridiculous, then. From what I've heard even australians are getting A2017G, so it seems so stupid that some bizarre EU restrictions would hinder audio experience for non-europeans too. Shame, ZTE, shame.

The audio limitations are probably a software limitation. Which hopefully will be undone by CM.
I doubt that they would implement a hardware limitation. That would have raised the bill of materials.
Where can I buy the G int. model?

Got mine yesterday, really fast delivery from China and arrived in Dublin on Monday via DHL , had to pay €53.25 customs fees just when i thought i was getting away with it!!
Anyway ill list the pros and cons so far
PROS - Fast and responsive with no lag, especially with Nova launcher
Haven't taken many photos but the camera seems excellent and a massive step up from my One Plus One which ill be selling
Looks really smart with Android L, really nice interface
The phone is a perfect size and looks really nice
Addition of micro sim and dual sim is excellent and should be standard thesedays
Audio sounds good
CONS - The back looks nice but it's just plastic, i dont know why but i thought this was supposed to be aluminium so im a tad disappointed and premium design phones are the way forward the front looks lovely however
I dont know why but ive had the occasional FC on the play store and this shouldn't happen on a brand new phone
Not many but bloody chinese apps came pre loaded and are i dont appear to be able to uninstall them all
The power button up the top is a pain and will take a while getting used to, what the hell is wrong with the side
For come reason my contacts didn't sync from Google everything else did, ive tried a few things no luck so far so im hoping i can sort this out.
anymore pros and cons ill post them, feel free to share your own views,
were you bought it from? I am planning to buy this from Asus France, is that good idea? Because now only €299 and no customs fees! (I live in The Netherlands, EU)
Thanks for the rundown.

thats really a pity
but from gearbest that one is Taiwanese version, no Playstore and only 1,8ghz. but I have heard you can put Worldwide firmware on it, so it can support EU bands and have playstore?
..
I got the one from gearbest.com also thought I was getting 2.3GHz processor but only got 1.8GHz still has 4GB ram and 32GB storage. agreed phone is quick, and agree mostly with impressions above. Screen is also a little dull to me and viewing angles are not great. Just ran and antutu and it got 41672. My Note 3 with Cyanogenmod got 42212.
Tried 1080p videos and YouTube and works without any glitches also played Real Racing 3 and it had no glitches or stutters. The plastic back makes my hand sweat for whatever reason but a case would fix anyways. Camera works great and takes better pics than my Note 3. Am on T-mobile USA and because Chinese firmware only getting 3G/H+ good coverage area gets me around 12mb down and 2mb up.
Probably going to sell it and stick with my Note 3 until something better comes along.

You must have the Chinese version because the Taiwanese version have the Google services pre-installed.

If I understood correctly, Chinese version is from Gearbest and that one doesnt have play store and is only 1,8ghz
yes it is the chinese version i have and im fuming here google play was continuously force closing so i uninstalled it and sideloaded the apk which installs ok but when i click on it it wont open, ive tred clearing cache and data, uninstalling and re installing but to no avail so im left with a phone in which i cannot install my apps, ****ing disaster after my initiak post when i was fairly happy earlier the minute i turned the phone on to finish setting up the problems started, it's looking likely ill have to send it back, theres no way im paying customs fees again and they cay refund me for the postage and either send me a non chinese version with google play instaslled or refund me my money.
unless anyone has other ideas in the meantme
fuming here
I had that problem too but clearing the cache fixed.

ridiculous you have to do this just to get the play store but it works,,,however it's now asking me again to pay for the apps which ive already paid for, anyone know how i can resolve this?
im returning mine to Gearbeast i sent them a message and they responded fairly quickly and said they'd send me a European model which they should have done in the first place, they are expecting me to pay for postage too im going to demand they refund me this and pay any other customs fees , clearly they should not have sent people outside China the Chinese model with no play store which is a nightmare.
Asides from that it's a cracking phone, but when available im going to purchase an aluminium back cover whenever i get my European model sent to me.
I also purchased a Chinese version from Gearbest. I am currently in the process of returning it and already bought a Taiwanese 2.3GHz version from eBay. The eBay ones seem to be the best so far, as they are the Taiwanese version which means 4G on T-Mobile PLUS its the 2.3GHz instead of the 1.8GHz ... on top of all that, it has the Play Store and Google framework installed. ...... At least, that's what I've come up with reading on the forums the past couple of days. Hopefully they're all true.

Can you link to your ebay item/seller?
I'm currently interested in buying a oneplus two and the official site says that they don't deliver to my country, so i'm thinking of buying one from a chinesse retailer like gearbest.
A friend told me that if you buy form a chinesse retailer they may not be the same quality as if you would buy it from the official site, any thoughts on this?
he also said that they come whit more bloatware and there's a higher chance of getting one with overheating problems. I'm thinking they might have different hardware revisions.
Nope. I'm from germany and bought the Oneplus2 (A20003) from Geekbuying. It took some time to ship it because it were very asked but it is actually working good and seems to be a good one.
No quality problems!
I think if you buy from chinese retailer it may be running Hydrogen OS instead of Oxygen OS
I am use the oneplus two in china
I am using the oneplus two in china.just now, it is fine, and I love it .and I think the hardware revisionsis the same with the phone outbound

Factory Sealed unopened ?
I sent them a message recently about the redmi k20 pro and they said they open them to test them, but maybe not the mi 9t
€390 for the 128 version is pretty decent it's €330 for 64gb one on amazon
I bough my mi9t from this https://fr.shopping.rakuten.com/offer?action=desc&aid=4827612891&productid=3974212410 and it is factory sealed. but look for other sellers https://fr.shopping.rakuten.com/mfp...10&filter=10&cid=5849175&scroll=shop_sections this from europe are even cheaper now, and probably they come factory sealed.
for this mine seller it is sure factory sealed.
i paid it 354eur, as rakuten offer me 30eur discount for sopping over 300eur
tradingshenzhen[dot]com also recently adjusted their prices for both versions 327,-€ / 64GB and 357,-€ / 128GB
It's also said that in their next delivery they will have all three colors available

i received bill with price, and imei number and it say i have warranty of 24months. But anyway i have 12 months of warranty of rakuten site.
how is warranty from goldway via alixpress?
If something wrong with the phone within 1 week of arrival goldway takes full responsibility. If you have problems with the phone after that - let's say 6 months and you have problems with your charging port goldway will take care of it but you as as a customer needs to pay the delivery fee to china, which is a hussle.
The best would be when we get the phone and with the correct IMEI the warranty would be accepted by xiaomi global - like if we can directly send the phone to xiaomi and not return to the seller in china.
yes, that would be the best if we get phone direct from xiaomi shop. but when i look to order mine, i was waiting for 17jun for official site of xiaomi in france, and i add to basket, but thinking which coclour, blue or black, and it takes me 1 min to think. and then when i click to confirm and buy, it was already sold, so i had to find alternative site to buy . i was not enough patient to wait for few days more, i could buy even cheaper then for 354eur.
i dont know about warranty, for me if it is in few first, lets say weeks all ok, then what could happen if i am not alone responsable. I have bad experience with meizu, even i send and i was ready to pay all expenses for repair of my phone, they didnt do, they even break connectors from power and vol+/- keys to main borad, and phone was not able to use after. when i send notice back about that connectors, they said it was already like this when they receive my phone.
same bad experience with huawei.
Exactly. That's why i'm not sure if I want to order the phone via those sites, because like you said...what if something happens? Like, i need a new battery? I need to send the phone back.wait at least 1 month etc...and there will always be something wrong with every phone.
But as I see now, even here in Croatia the MI 9t 64gb costs the same as the 128gb on alixpress, its just too expensive here.

Izvini nisam video da si iz Hrvateske . Sorry didnt see that you are from Croatia . In Serbia mi9t cost 380eur 64GB, it will be in shop from tomorrow. if someone wants sure warranty of 24moths then i think no doubt where to buy.
I chose to buy in sites as i posted or in aliexperes, or from local site name kupujemprodajem, i have sure 1year of warranty, and if i want new battery, i just can go at local service center and ask to put me new battery. even if i have to pay. for such things, it is cheaper to pay then to send phone back to china, and wait extra month, or even two to have phone back.

Yes, but if you change for example your battery at a local dealer (not authorised) - you void your 2 year warranty which is enforced by law. At least for all electronic products for the EU, i suppose Serbia enforces it as well. Keep that in mind.
Dvosjekli mač jel
Summa sumrum, you can change your battery wherever you like, but you lose your 2 year warranty. If i buy a phone from amazon (for example) i have a 2 year warranty by default. If i go and change something without amazon - so if i go to a local guy who can change it i lose the warranty.
you are right, but it is why we have options, to buy phone by lover price, and questioned warranty, or to buy overpriced phone with warranty ( but when it comes too, no we dont accept this, we dont accept that, .... )

I had a really weird experience with eglobal today that put me off them all together.I added my personal info in and was thinking hard on the 9T in my cart but had to leave the site to get back to work
Got about 10 missed calls throughout the morning from places like Africa,Burundi, Switzerland, definitely scamming attempts ,then this evening got email from eglobal saying I'd left an item in my cart just click here price is 9999,I'm sure if I clicked they would of tried to charge me that.
Looking elsewhere now,but still unsure as have a 6T at the moment but really like the 9T design and cameras. The mi 9 is too similar to my 6T. Also kind of keen on the k20 pro so thinking might be worth waiting for a mi 9T pro

wow... scammers... Burundi in Africa, even Switzerland? wow...are you in UK or where are you. I am in UK.
The decision with 9t is because I dont need all that selfie camera movement, I am fine with simple stuff but then the fact that I cant charge phone and use my head phone at same time is not good.
The its more expensive and yeah... its the headphone input that killed it.

I have bought foreign phones before and have always found ways to enable/disable bands as needed.. The Snapdragon is very versatile. I'm hoping that installing the international oxygen OS rom will configure the bands. When I get the device I will thoroughly test every band and let you know how I get on.

Haha your post cracks me up, mate. Did you ever get the band unlocked? I'm torn between waiting four more days until it's available in the US, or getting it off of Wonda.
Perhaps you can help me decide. When the phone arrived, did it look brand-spanking-new? Or were there fingerprints all over it? After all, they had to manually flash the international version of OOS I'm assuming? and did it come in original packaging? Or do they just take the components out and just stick it in a random box?

Yep, you got it. According to DHL tracking it's in the UK already ?
I've bought phones from Wonda before without issues.

Careful the Chinese version is missing a few of the bands we use here. Think o2 is fine but the rest need band 32 I think for lte advance so you may get slower 4g speeds if on Three voda ee or their mvno's.
Maybe you can unlock bands. Wonda mobile a great trustworthy store
I'm in Canada and bought a pro 256gb from Alibaba for about 1240 CAD all in. Flashed with global ROM.
Very risky for general user but I've been buying equipment and components for my company from Alibaba for years now. I personally have never had an issue (with fraud anyways)

Well, just setting up my Chinese black OP8 and all seems well. VoWIFI, VoLTE, everything working beautifully. I've got a
12 GB model for less than the 8GB model. Happy bunny.

The seal on the box was broken to upgrade the firmware but the device was still wrapped in its protective film. I'm currently on band 20 VoLTE and the device is identifying itself as the international version. I suspect the relevant bands were enabled/disabled with the ROM change.

Wonda mobile.
Question for those using chinese version in USA.
How is it working?
I want the green 256GB version and dual Sim. So going down this route might be my best option.
Only problem I see is if I have a screen issue, will be harder to return.
What do you guys think? Thanks for the replies.
I have used Wonda Mobile and returned a mobile with no issues, you pay for shipping if you change your mind with a fee but if it's faulty they will reimburse you.
I have ordered many times from Wonda Mobile, can't rate them high enough. My 8 Pro was shipped on Monday and I had it by Saturday, 12/256gb £100 cheaper......:good:
So, i notice sites like Giztop and Aliexpress sell the Chinese variant of OnePlus 8 Pro for very cheap. Around 800-900 bucks. and they advertise with "global rom" What does this mean? Can they actually flash on a real Global ROM, entirely supported by OnePlus already on the CN versions? What do i lose by getting a CN version over a global version that i can buy in a store in my country for 1100bucks?
I am torn on buying a OnePlus 8 Pro CN version for 850bucks or the Sony Xperia 1 Pro for 1200dollars global from my country. But that is quite the price difference. On the other hand, i'm scared of the supposed massive OP 8 Pro screen issues? are those more prevalent on the CN versions? i see people reporting major loss in max screen brightness, calibration being way off, green tints etc etc? Hoping someone here can give some reassurance. I feel like the safe option is the Sony, but yeah dunno.
If you're buying the device from "abroad" recommend you send flowers first.

So it doesn't matter if i get the Chinese version or not? It's still the same rom as the 2025 global? There is no difference at all?
Ok let's get this straight..
First and foremost.
No one, in any situation unless you want to our feel like losing all your money, should order anything from the likes of Ali Express.
The clue is in the name.
if you want a Oneplus phone, then order it from the correct channels.
Or get it on contract, or be ready to sit through a total turd storm when you need to return to sender.
The likes of Ali Express shouldn't even be mentioned in XDA im amazed that you've been allowed to name this thread.
Ali Express is one toe dipped into the dark web, recognizable by the amount of bad deals you think you're going to get but don't.
Short answer??
Avoid Ali, period.
Pay for the phone you want and stop spreading misinformation, unless you're in China and in a OnePlus sellers shop..
Modem is probably the key factor. The band support is what you'll need.
I, too, have wondered also. iN2020 supports n41 5g but not sure if that's the same 41 that Tmo uses. If so, that would be great

Mate, what are you talking about. Nothing about this post was even remotely true. AliExpress is pretty reputable. It's basically the Chinese Amazon. This isn't the wild west days of 2010 with Chinese e-commerce.
I order stuff off AliExpress all the time. 99% of time something arrives as advertised. When it doesn't - I just open a claim and I get my money back. Items take longer these days to arrive due to ePacket and covid-19 - but I always get what I ordered.
I think you might be thinking of Alibaba, which also in turn has dramatically improved in the last few years.

Its the Chinese model (IN2020) with global ROM (IN11AA)
The same ROM as the IN2025 model
I will also order one next month..
You could also try Wonda Mobile, they are based in Hong Kong. They have a complete section of faq on the actual device, the only main difference would be the bands like 5g. They also have a section which lists them so have a look at that to make sure your network supports it.
I bought a OnePlus 8 Pro from Giztop and it's the Chinese version with Oxygen OS on it. I immediately regret it and now I can't return it. If you're in the US, don't do it.

No option to return if you change your mind even paying a restocking fee?

I was looking at it when you couldn't get one in the US. The bands (n71 and n41) were the issue.
So far, have not seen any post from anyone in US TMO that has one that works on LTE and 5G over here.

Yeah - that's an issue, but 6000 mhz n71 is also big , as it both supports LTE and 5G. I didn't see that at all.

I can't afford to be without a phone for a month maybe more. My job requires me to have a cell phone and my note 5 backup finally died on me. So I'm stuck with this phone unfortunately

Well, for one I'm missing a few bands compared to the IN2023 version. That's the most important thing to me. Two, I honestly feel like the 5g is not as strong due to me missing those bands.
Hey, just to give my 2 cents about ordering this phone from China....
Just did it and went for the 12/256 Ultramarine Oneplus 8 Pro at the end of April for about $930 USD, shipping included, on AliExpress.
Took a LONG time to arrive to me (6 weeks!) BUT... Phone is perfect, no defect, screen is gorgeous and nothing wrong with it, even though it is probably a "first batch" unit. Got a Chinese IN2020 unit flashed by seller with Global ROM (came with 10.5.3 or 10.5.4 ROM out of the box), had a pre-applied (plastic) screen protector that will allow me to wait a few more days/weeks to get my UV 3D glass screen protectors for a better protection and better light transmittance. Unit looked new, with all the packaging (even though it was flashed to Global ROM by seller, but still, they managed to make it look like it has never even been turned on, as the phone box itself was still fully wrapped/sealed with plastic).
Once turned on, immediately updated to 10.5.8 Global without any problem, unlocked bootloader, booted to latest TWRP, Rooted of course and applied my usual Magisk modules, as well as flashed a custom kernel (Omega, to be precise). Tweaked my unit to my desire, installed a Gcam to have more options regarding photography, and... well ,that's all, mate!
Nothing much to say, except I'm delighted by my purchase and by this phone for now! Coming from a Oneplus 5T with custom Android Q ROM, it is a BIG step ahead and definitely impressive piece of hardware. However, in terms of speed, can't say the difference is huge (sure, OP8 Pro is faster, but not by a 100X, not even a 2X factor when you use it normally).
If you have an opportunity to buy the Chinese version at a good price from AE or any other reseller, offering some warranty in case something goes wrong during transportation or with the unit itself of course, and if you are not able to get it from your local store (it was and still is not easily available in my country at a decent price right now), then go on and do it! Just remember, unless you go for DHL or other fast shipping carrier, you'll have to be patient.
Cheers!
