Hi,
Ok, so I dont have a network signal now.
This started to happen when I dropped my nexus 4.
It was ok until I dropped the phone. I suspected that it really was a hardware problem, the software seems to get signal.
Here are the screen shots I took when I dial *#*#4636#*#*.
I tried changing wcdma preffered to wcdma only and back again to wcdma preffered again, nada.
See, there is a signal. I suspected the sim card so I bought another one. But still, no joy.
I also went back to all stock (latest), coming from cm10.1. I formated everything, but I still get the "emergency calls only".
This really bugs me out. I can access the sim card (contacts in it, sim services, it all works). I also get signal levels like other phones outside of a building (around -54dBm).
So why, just why wouldn't it work? please give me ideas.. My last hope is to take it to an lg store, but since I am in a different country where I bought it, I guess I won't be able to get any warranty (it was bought by my brother).

If u didn't have access to the sim card I would say that it may have moved, but if u do I am sure it is a hardware problem. If the phone doesn't have dropping singals u could not have any charge by sending it to the SAT.
Good luck!

That's the very reason I'm baffled. the phone is perfectly fine except for the signal. If it's hardware, then shouldn't I get a waaayy lower signal levels?
AND!!!!! I can freaking search for available networks, I CAN DETECT THEM. That really freaks me out.
If it really is the hardware, what is it? I recon the radio/antenna is fine since i can detect signals and networks, I also believe that the radio controllers are integrated to the processor SOIC. Sheeesssshhhhh..... I'm enticed to prop the thing open, maybe some just loose ribbon connection or.. sumthin..

There may be damage in some parts of the antenna and not in all of it. Take it to the sat asap if it doesnt have signals of the drop

Do you still have the problem? Because, I have the same issue on my Nexus 4 since 4.3. Sometimes it loose GSM carrier, sometimes it ask (again) the PIN code.

Yes.
I tried reseating/cleaning the SIM and am waiting to see if that helps. Some have seen success by using tape to stop the SIM touching the edge of the SIM carrier. Odd that that should work if the problem is caused by poor GSM coverage...

Maybe the problem was there in 4.2.2 but was not visible. I just have put some tape on the GSM coverage to isolate the ship pins, and hope that it will solve it. First good point, the phone still works with the tape inside! It seems also that the GSM signal level is better

Hope you can SIM out again
A SIM is a digital device to which the phone communicates using a protocol. It should either work or not work. If the connection to it bad I would expect it to work intermittently and be sensitive to physical knocks or the phone's physical position. I don't see how it would affect signal strength.

Signal strength hasn't changed, only the phone position inside the "Faraday bunker" where I work!
Thank you!

Hi all, I had lost my IMEI information and I managed to fix this using the QCN file for the 2014811 variant but this QCN has no support for Brazilian LTE bands cos my variant is 2014819 so all I get now is H+ internet. Does anyone here have the original qcn file for the brazilian variant so I can re-edit with my IMEI and get 4G back? Thanks in advance.
Are you having signal drops after flash the QCN? I'm having since then, don't know if is hardware or not. I don't want to send to assistance and my warranty is almost over.
Yes

Yes, on TIM the signal dropped but because at home 4G signal is stronger than 3G where I live but on Oi, 3G signal is real strong. I want 4G back and I can't seem to find the original QCN for the Brazilian variant.

Where I live there's only 3G so I don't know about 4G.
What I mean with signal drop is not the strenght and yes the signal itself. Sometimes I have no signal with the message "no sim card detected" than I've to turn on/off airplane mode some times to come back.
I don't have that issue

Oh no I don't get that, my sim card is always detected after I flashed the cqn but since this one is for Indian variants, I get no 4G, and my problem now is finding the cqn for the 2014819 variant, I have no friends with this cell phone so it gets difficult. You should reflash that if you say it used to work better before.

Well I've tried fastboot flashing and still I'm here with that issue without a fix, so it doesn't always override some settings. Try the IMEI fix stuff on the Miui forum.

Have you tried sim cards of other carriers? Do they work or still the same? You should send in to assistance before your warranty runs out. Mine has expired, that's why I don't send mine in.

I was told they fix this in a week, they'll probably send you a brand new phone. It's worth waiting for a week and get it fixed than never get it fixed.

Hello everyone!
I am having a very hard time diagnosing an issue with my Nexus 6P. Android 7.1.1 Angler-03.78 Build: N4F26T on AT&T unlocked. My network keeps dropping consistently. It works fine for about 5-7 minutes after a reboot or after toggling Airplane Mode. It goes on to attach itself to LTE and then subsequently drops to HSDPA/3G and then just outright loses network. It intermittently then comes back but usually hangs on to HSDPA/3G and the voice quality and data speed are just terrible.
I tried the SIM in my old Galaxy nexus (which doesn't support LTE unfortunately) and the network didn't drop. So I am convinced something is going on with the phone. This issue crept up this last Monday (03/26) and has been going on ever since. Has anyone had similar issues? If not, could anyone tell me how to diagnose this issue before I have to send it to Huawei? Because I am not very keen on sending away the only proper handset I have.
Thanks
I had a similar problem on Cricket, which uses AT&T's network. I never had good cell coverage in my apartment but it suddenly got so bad that I could only make and receive calls in certain rooms. Cricket wasn't able to diagnose the issue and I ended up switching my service to Project Fi. The problem completely went away. I now have a strong cell signal with full bars everywhere in my apartment. I'm not sure that sending your phone back to Huawei will actually solve anything but good luck.

This is a known issue just this month I experienced it myself, Try flashing different radios I was on 03.78 and had signal drop issues 03.72 and 03.75 have had the best results.
I flashed radio 3.7.5 and it did zip for me. I was on Sprint where I never had any problems and switched to AT&T when I got the 6P and never got more than half the bars strength when the service was actually working. After I switched to Project Fi I am usually on the T-Mobile network and get full bar strength 100% of the time at home. If I use Signal Spy to manually switch to Sprint I still get full bar strength in every room in my apartment. This is with the exact same radio that I had problems with on AT&T. I don't know if the 6P doesn't play nice with certain networks or if those networks provide inferior coverage but Verizon users have had notorious problems with this phone that caused Google to issue a separate radio just for them. Verizon customers are the ones who claimed to benefit from flashing radio 3.7.5. I have never heard of that actually helping anyone else and it definitely didn't help me. If the problem is partly with your network then sending the phone back to Huawei won't make any difference. You can try flashing a different radio but in the end you might have to switch carriers and if you can't do that you might need to switch to a phone that your carrier actually recommends.

It's strange because this happened just this week. It was fine before this week. Everything worked, I got proper signal strength and the connection never dropped. Now on my commutes I can see there is no network when I am driving, no maps, no spotify nothing.

Okay, I guess that's what I am doing today. I haven't modded my phone in any way, I am still on stock android. I am going to have to start by unlocking bootloader and flashing TWRP.
Good luck. I was in the same boat. It just stopped working but there was no Rom update that could have caused a problem.

Where do I find the old versions? This thread doesn't have the old versions anymore. 03.79 doesn't resolve the issue.
EDIT: I used 03.75 and that doesn't do it either. Time to try 03.72. I am so disheartened.

Why not go to AT&T first, let them know about your issue and have them provision a new SIM for your phone (free). I seriously doubt a different radio is going to solve your problem, but if you want to try there is a dedicated thread in General for flashable bootloader/radio zips, but you would be better served installing ADB/Fastboot on your PC and using fastboot to flash them yourself. The latest radio is 03.81 (from 7.1.2) The stock image files on Google contain the radio and bootloader img files. If the new SIM doesn't fix it, you may end up backing up your data and doing a factory reset.

Okay the latest factory ROM didn't work, I did a complete wipe and a factory reset. I will go to AT&T tomorrow and see if a new sim helps (I doubt it because this SIM works fine in my backup phone Galaxy Nexus but I can't verify LTE with that).
I don't know what my options will be after this. I feel like I am spending more time maintaining my phone instead of using it. Just disappointed, that's all.

Yeah, I found it. Thank you. None of the versions helped though
I've been experiencing signal problems when downgrading which is not your case. But I got it solved by performing a factory reset. It's fairly straightforward once you have backed up your data. Worth a try?
Similar problem here I think I have found part of the problem
I have been having a similar problem ever since a recent update. I have tried everything found in this post. Recently I tried turning off my wifi and noticed the problem seems to go away. I have done a few searches to see if anyone has reported no phone with wifi on, none of the results so far have been very helpful.
Since I don't want to be without wifi, I have gone into the developer options and turned on cellular data always active, to see if this helps, so far this is working for me.

I did try that but it didn't work unfortunately. I called up Google and they sent me a refurb which was DOA but then later they sent me a new one which works just fine. So it was definitely a hardware issue on my old phone. I don't plan on updating my software because I just want this phone to work like a phone.

It happened either way. Wifi status didn't affect my issue. It used to die out completely. Google just sent me a new replacement (after a DOA refurb) and it seems to be holding. But I am not upgrading to 7.1.1 because I feel the issue might crop up again. So I am going to stick to 6.0 for now.
Update on my status
So far having wifi off has worked, until I ran Waze and then both GPS and Networking down till I quit and turned Airplane mode on and off. The previous change to Developer setting did not work.
I have been debating going back down to 6.*, has anyone had good results with this?
Hi guys
Just got a and s8 and its the first phone I've been able to use Wi-Fi calling on. I'm on vodafone uk and the WiFi calling works okay. I've just got a question though.
At home I generally get an okay mobile signal but the WiFi calling symbol remains even though i have 2 bars. Is this normal? I though WiFi calling would only kick in when your signal was really weak?
Many thanks
Hi just a question do you have any problems with wifi calling? Just that I'm on vodafone and when using wifi calling no-one can hear me when I talk.
I tried it today mimo2008 in airplane mode and WiFi on and it worked okay for me. Are you running a vodafone firmware or a standard uk one?
Had the same issue in that quite a few times the person at the other end could not hear me. Also the WiFi calling symbol would remain even after I was out of range of WiFi!
Used to work fairly well on my old S7. Given up using it for now and turned the Sure Signal back on.
I'm not using a Vodafone firmware BTW.
It's strange because it only works in airplane mode not in normal. I'm running vodafone software unfortunately.
Thx for letting me know.
Are you guys connected to 5ghz WiFi when you are having problems? I had the chance to try WiFi calling at work today where I don't get signal. It worked really well and disconnected as it should as soon as I walked outside and had a couple of bars mobile signal. I tried this a few times. The only difference to at home is that we only have 2.4ghz WiFi at work.
Came home and forgot the 5ghz network and joined the 2.4ghz one. Magically it just works now. As soon as I'm down to one bar it comes on. Then goes off when I'm stood by the window and have 2+ bars.
Edit: Seems that didn't fix it after all. I'm sat here with 2-3 bars and WiFi calling remains on. Oh well hopefully in a future firmware update it might get fixed.
Just to update I'm now having the problem of the other person not being able to hear me. I've had to disable WiFi calling now as it's too buggy. I've left a message on the Vodafone forum where others are having the same problem. Apparently they are looking in to it.
Yeah I've been told it's not compatible with nougat which i think is a load off bull.
If it was the case then it would effect other carrier's

Have they said if they are working on a fix mimo?
Hi @rob77
This is the email I got from vodafone.
Hello,
We?ve just investigated the fault you are experiencing with wifi calling. Your phone is currently running the latest version of Android (Nougat) which regrettably is currently incompatible with wifi calling, as soon as an update is released to Android wifi calling will resume normal service on your phone.
Regards,
No time scale I'm afraid.
Thanks mimo2008
Oh well I guess I'd better invest in a sure signal for work then.
Your welcome Rob hopefully they will get it fixed soon.
Bought a sure signal yesterday and have set it up at work. I've got to say it performs really well
@ Rob77 - Funny, cos it worked perfectly fine on my S7 running Nougat?
@Richy101 I've read quite a bit on the Vodafone forums and it does seem mainly s8 owners complaining of this problem. I've submitted a ticket and would like to see it fixed but the sure signal is actually better for me at this moment in time. I only need WiFi calling at work and the sure signal supports texts as well. At home I get usually get 2 bars 4g and falls back 3g if the signal gets too low.
