Yes.
I tried reseating/cleaning the SIM and am waiting to see if that helps. Some have seen success by using tape to stop the SIM touching the edge of the SIM carrier. Odd that that should work if the problem is caused by poor GSM coverage...

Maybe the problem was there in 4.2.2 but was not visible. I just have put some tape on the GSM coverage to isolate the ship pins, and hope that it will solve it. First good point, the phone still works with the tape inside! It seems also that the GSM signal level is better

Hope you can SIM out again
A SIM is a digital device to which the phone communicates using a protocol. It should either work or not work. If the connection to it bad I would expect it to work intermittently and be sensitive to physical knocks or the phone's physical position. I don't see how it would affect signal strength.

Signal strength hasn't changed, only the phone position inside the "Faraday bunker" where I work!
Thank you!

Jam Weak signal while talking, can you help??

I have a I-mate jam rom v. 1.12.00WWE, Radio v. 1.13.00, no ext rom.
Everytime i use the phone (make calls or use any programs), the signal drops to about 1 or no bars. Is there anyway to fix this?
Thanks

The main questions would be;
1. Was this happening before upgrading to Big Storage?
2. Does the signal strength drop everywhere you go, your office, house, streets, mall, etc?
3. Does it also happen when the SIM card is in another phone?
If its a Yes to Q1 and Q2, and no to Q3, then maybe there is something wrong with your unit. If No to Q1 and Yes to Q2 then something might have gone wrong during the upgrade process. Try hard resetting your device and before installing anything (although using software has no relation) try making a call. If Yes to Q3, then the SIM card might be defective.
Or....,
You maybe cover the antena area (that's the top area) of magician with your palm, thus reducing the phone signal. Try to hold it only on battery area and not cover the antena area.
It might be the problem, or might not.... Please let us know the result.
Regards,
Arto.

Yes to Q1 & Q2. The signals drops no matter where I am at. I tried with same sim card and another phone, and the signal was good, only happend on my jam unit. Everytime the signal drops my incoming calls gets transfer to voicemail.

I guess you have no choice but to have that thing repaired or replaced. Hope you still have warantee on it.

[Q] [HELP] no signal even if when simcard is inserted

Hi,
Ok, so I dont have a network signal now.
This started to happen when I dropped my nexus 4.
It was ok until I dropped the phone. I suspected that it really was a hardware problem, the software seems to get signal.
Here are the screen shots I took when I dial *#*#4636#*#*.
I tried changing wcdma preffered to wcdma only and back again to wcdma preffered again, nada.
See, there is a signal. I suspected the sim card so I bought another one. But still, no joy.
I also went back to all stock (latest), coming from cm10.1. I formated everything, but I still get the "emergency calls only".
This really bugs me out. I can access the sim card (contacts in it, sim services, it all works). I also get signal levels like other phones outside of a building (around -54dBm).
So why, just why wouldn't it work? please give me ideas.. My last hope is to take it to an lg store, but since I am in a different country where I bought it, I guess I won't be able to get any warranty (it was bought by my brother).

If u didn't have access to the sim card I would say that it may have moved, but if u do I am sure it is a hardware problem. If the phone doesn't have dropping singals u could not have any charge by sending it to the SAT.
Good luck!

That's the very reason I'm baffled. the phone is perfectly fine except for the signal. If it's hardware, then shouldn't I get a waaayy lower signal levels?
AND!!!!! I can freaking search for available networks, I CAN DETECT THEM. That really freaks me out.
If it really is the hardware, what is it? I recon the radio/antenna is fine since i can detect signals and networks, I also believe that the radio controllers are integrated to the processor SOIC. Sheeesssshhhhh..... I'm enticed to prop the thing open, maybe some just loose ribbon connection or.. sumthin..

There may be damage in some parts of the antenna and not in all of it. Take it to the sat asap if it doesnt have signals of the drop

[SOLVED]no mobile data after screen replacement and weak reception

Hello everyone,
I'm having isssues with mobile data on my N4 after I replaced my digitizer and lcd screen. I dont have problems with WiFi, I also can call others, and others can call me, same with SMS's, but I can't access the internet. As I disconnect my WiFi, signal bars turn orange or get exclamation mark(tried on both kk and lollipop). It shouldn't be an issue witg the antennas, because SMS and calls work(wich also use cellular). Could be wrong though.
I'm also having weak singnal. In my area there is usually sufficient coverage, but in the moment I one bar indoors, 1 or 2 bars near windows(enough for calling, but too little for mobile data), but I used to have 3-4 bars indoors. Any fix to that?
Any help is welcome.
Edit: got access to internet by readjusting APN(duh). Never thought of that beause it usually does it itself.
Are you sure APN settings are correct ? I'm using TELE2 (Lithuania) and default apn settings are wrong - I need delete proxy server and proxy port from apn to have working mobile data ...

Yeah, I thought about that right after posting, and I got that fixed already,(I have also TELE2) but I still have reception issues. Anyway, thanks for participating.
for weak signal first what I would check - coaxial cable from mainboard to gsm antenna (plastic part above usb port) and maybe antenna connection pads.
have you tried 2G mode ?

The cable seemed fine to me, and the pads were okay. It might be just me, but it feels that the reception is getting better. I'm having almost constant 2G now indoors(before I almost had none). In 2G mode almost nothing changes, exept that it doesn't get occasional momentary 3G, like it does in 3G preferred mode.
I was wrong about the reception. Now it comes and goes absolutely random.

Problem solved. During the digitizer replacement I removed the electrostatic discharge tape. Replaced that with the insulating tape and now works fine.

Hi,
I've same issue, everything else are working fine but I get very low signal or no service at all. Where is this tape located?

It would be REALLY helpful if after you solved it, you could tell us the exact location, so any other person out of 7 billion people on earth, could solve it, including me.

First, I only thought at the time that it was solved, however I was wrong. I have reception only near cities.
Second, I put the tape over the coaxial cable and covering some of the battery as well.

Is my Axon 7's radio faulty - video

I've posted a few times about the poor connectivity on my EU model Axon 7. I've given up expecting it to connect to a 4G signal, it just refuses.
However, when I'm on WiFi, the 3G symbol keeps flicking on and off. I thought this was a bug fixed by the B03 update.
If someone who understands these things cares to watch, I've done a screen grab of this thing as it switches signal. Is this normal? It looks very busy...https://youtu.be/jDuioJX2uoI

Mine is working fine but it connects to LTE most of the time. I haven't experience such issue. Model number is P996A04. What is yours? Otherwise I have heard that not quite ok SIM card can cause such problem. Do you have original nano card from provider or did you cut it?

Same model number and the Sim is not cut down, no.
I'm going to send it back now and try a Nexus 6p for a while. Might buy it again if I read there's been improvements.

Redmi 2 2014819 QCN file?

Hi all, I had lost my IMEI information and I managed to fix this using the QCN file for the 2014811 variant but this QCN has no support for Brazilian LTE bands cos my variant is 2014819 so all I get now is H+ internet. Does anyone here have the original qcn file for the brazilian variant so I can re-edit with my IMEI and get 4G back? Thanks in advance.
Are you having signal drops after flash the QCN? I'm having since then, don't know if is hardware or not. I don't want to send to assistance and my warranty is almost over.
Yes

Yes, on TIM the signal dropped but because at home 4G signal is stronger than 3G where I live but on Oi, 3G signal is real strong. I want 4G back and I can't seem to find the original QCN for the Brazilian variant.

Where I live there's only 3G so I don't know about 4G.
What I mean with signal drop is not the strenght and yes the signal itself. Sometimes I have no signal with the message "no sim card detected" than I've to turn on/off airplane mode some times to come back.
I don't have that issue

Oh no I don't get that, my sim card is always detected after I flashed the cqn but since this one is for Indian variants, I get no 4G, and my problem now is finding the cqn for the 2014819 variant, I have no friends with this cell phone so it gets difficult. You should reflash that if you say it used to work better before.

Well I've tried fastboot flashing and still I'm here with that issue without a fix, so it doesn't always override some settings. Try the IMEI fix stuff on the Miui forum.

Have you tried sim cards of other carriers? Do they work or still the same? You should send in to assistance before your warranty runs out. Mine has expired, that's why I don't send mine in.
