No we cannot. The Verizon S7 has a locked bootloader. Only a kernel signed by Samsung can be flashed as long as the bootloader is locked.

Questions about Blissbop

Alright so I am a newbie with this stuff so that's why I don't understand these simple things.
- I rooted my Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1" (SM-T530NU) through odin, was the bootloader unlocked in the process to make it possible or did it not require the unlocking of the bootloader. OR was it unlocked from the start perhaps?
- (Blisspop) It says that I have to unlock my bootloader, based on the answer to the question above | how can I unlock it OR am I fine and I can download it? |

Use this gapps, I personally prefer nano but any variant should work. The download takes a while since the server is based in Germany and we're not in Germany (I'm assuming you're not in Germany since you have the T530NU, a North American model)

Without an unlocked bootloader, you can NEVER use twrp. If you try, you'll brick it

When? Duh, just check your calendar. There should be an exact date and time that the bootloader will be unlockable for our device.

Probably never, Samsung has locked up most of the flagship models since the Note 3 in 2013. I haven't seen an unlocked boot loader since then

How do I unlock my S7 edge's ( SM-G935F) bootloader?

I recently rooted and want to install custom ROMs, meaning I need to flash a Custom recovery, meaning I need to unlock my bootloader.
How do I go about doing this?

Well u do need a recovery for roms. So the Bootloader be locked no twrp. So no roms. Just root for now

So even in the international versions the bootloader cannot be unlocked? I thought it was only the US versions where the bootloaders would be locked down.
Can custom ROMs not be flashed through ODIN? I really just want to get away from TouchWiz.
Edit: Am I correct in assuming that you dont get OTA updates while rooted? If so how would it be possible to update the OS if I cannot flash ROMs?
Are you on the enxyos version?

We wouldn't know for sure. You have a different processor and different firmware to include an unlockable firmware.
You're posting in a SPRINT forum where almost all members don't have an unlockable bootloader therefor don't have any experience achieving what you're seeking.
Thus, you'd be better off posting your inquiry in a thread for your device, not ours.
But your bootloader should already be unlocked.
Just flash the TWRP recovery just like you did when you rooted. Shouldn't be that difficult.
Does this means that "Link2SD" can't be fully used on S7 (G935F)?
because I get the infamous "/data/sdext2 mount not found" error and for what i have googled, is because of a protected /system folder...
Am i right?

Flash G955U1 With ENG_BOOT.tar And Modified ODIN. HOTSPOT, NO BLOATWARE (Confirmed)

Successfully flashed from G955USQU1AQEF to G955U1UEU1AQE3 using this method.
1. Backup your data. I found out the hard way that the ENG_BOOT.tar will reset the phone (I know... noob mistake).
2. Reboot into download mode and use the modified Odin to flash ENG_BOOT_G955U.tar under BL.
(I rebooted after this and went through the setup... Im not sure if you have to, but I know it will work if you do)
3. Reboot back into download mode and flash the G955U1UEU1AQE3 files in their appropriate fields.
(I didn't use the HOME_CSC, and everything seems to work great!)
I take no credit for the existence of these files.
Enjoy!

I think this is just a Engboot. Not a root method with Engboot. Just Engboot.
@Lmax579 @hazmad
There is no root or bootloader unlock, it's just the engineering bootloader. The only useful thing that I have found is that it allows you to flash the G955U1 firmware. It may allow for downgrading, but just attempting what I already did was enough risk for now... Maybe I'll try it at one point.

Right, we don't have the ability to flash zips until BL unlock is achieved.

So do you have to use the Engineering Kernel to switch firmware versions now?
I thought you could just flash the U1 firmware using the modified Odin if you wanted to.

It doesn't have carrier bloatware, and enables tethering for other carriers. Possibly quicker updates, because there would be no wait for the carrier to release it, not positive on that tho.

But do you have to use ENGBOOT to flash the Unlocked firmware?
Before the last update you just had to use modified Odin from the other thread.

Confused with flashing new firmware

Have a Galaxy S8 G950U that has T-Mobile firmware with bootloader version 7. Can not seem to flash any other firmware with bootloader version 7 with Odin. It just fails with no error code. Tried several different versions of Odin to no avail... any suggestions?

Possibly wrong version of Odin. 3.13 it's needed.
Yes thank you...finally figured it out because of the g7 bootloader..

awesome glad to see you got it
I was at bootloader v2 until I changed carrier to T-Mobile and they updated firmware to BL v7. Now I guess I am stuck here with no chance of root with custom FW. Not even safestrap has an update for BL v7...oh well not going to cry in my beer.

No not yet. I posted up the combo we need. For the boot img. But we still need the edl files.
Can you pass along the link to that thread....would appreciate it..by the way, is there a tutorial out there for learning to do the programming we need? I use to do commercial programming in COBOL, then some in visual basic. Might give it a whirl to try and help out where I can....
